As a new Dad myself I found a new even greater passion for cars with my son! He is actually the reason the 2021 STI was bought new off the lot with 7 transport miles on the clock! so glad we did as it was MINE from the start no worries here! In-fact since then we have started building more and more with the goals of video and posting our journey building cars and doing things together! one of my favorite things is morning/daily car photos with the kiddo! "same place same time and really see them grow!" this has also rolled into V-logs as he has gotten a larger more independent vocabulary! Since then we bought his mom her first "project" car and it is a 2 door subie and he wants his own! ( *a challenger body in white actually because he wants new but to build it! pretty damn smart for 4 years old!* ) soooo now it is getting 8-9k nowish for his "dream car @ 16" meanwhile my project car still lurks under the knife! (LS-powered Porsche I build in high-school now being redone with adult money that video series launches soon with my channel!)
For the price at the time, these were one of the best $40k sports sedans. Too bad they're charging STi prices for (current) WRXs and the Impreza is going up a tier to last gen WRX prices. Hope you never sell this car.
I drove trucks, suvs, jeeps, my whole life, trying to get stuck in backroads snow on the appalacian mountains of PA. Then I got the 22 wrx, and put winter tires on, kelly winter access, and I was blown away above and beyond, the car is ridiculously out of this world in the snow. Its like a snow mobile. Nothing comes close.
Very clean and tasteful STI! It's only been 5 months since I got my '21 WRX, but I'm already a little worried about engine issues. That being said, you are living proof that with love and care, WRX's and STI's can actually be very reliable even with mods!
Anyone who says Subaru aren't reliable, 9 times out of 10 it's people who thrash their cars around and don't keep up with maintenance. This applies to any car, not just Subaru
FA no need worry about engine issue, either ej257, bunch of TH-camr has 100k miles on sti without issues. If you tune get pro tune and quality parts. If can’t afford just keep stock and on time maintenance
I hope to get the same enjoyment from my 2023 wrx . Thank you for the videos , inspiration of what is truly obtainable from a well rounded build and love of a car .
This is a sad day... I saw the title, & knew from the prior vids this day was coming. I took a few days to leave a comment... 😭 Thanks for all the wonderful Subaru content. Your content was always consistent, & on par with what I was looking for. Good luck with what you have planned. Looking forward to what you have in the works.👊🏽
So cool seeing this car done right. Nice to have a local STI on the streets. Maybe I’ll hear it riding my MTB on the trails haha. Please don’t get rid of it because they probably won’t make it like this ever again
Can someone tell me why Subaru is so hated on ?? I always thought Subaru was extremely reliable n let's be real , they have some gorgeous models ( such as yours ) so I never could understand the hate they get . I would love to own one such as this , jus like u said it's checks all the boxes for me as well . Stunning ride
Well because it’s expensive to actually build a Subaru. That holds down power along with being reliable On top of that. People just Complain and it’s honestly gotten super dragged out.
Did you take off the side skirts, lip and such? Also, did you put the original front grille and took out the brace bar? I noticed the tail lights are back to stock too. Love your car and the info
Hi Chris, Car looks and sounds great! Have you tried different ceramic coating products? Which particular one do you highly recommend? Your brother from PA!
An STI as a first car is pretty awesome haha. However, I would recommend looking at something a bit lower cost to maintain as a higher mileage STI could be quite the money pit. Especially buying second hand and multiple owners.
@@Autofreakgarage appreciate that quick response, even though its from the dealership?i noticed you have a nj license plate, so i dont know if your familiar with paul miller subaru dealership?
What's up Chris, do you do installs for subscribers on the side for cash? I have OEM front and sides and will be ordering the Verus Non-Aggressive diffuser soon and loved the details you took to install yours. Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, I don’t do installs on other vehicles. My videos are very detailed than you can following along step by step and accomplish the install on your own. I always encourage everyone to try as it is way more rewarding doing it yourself.
@@Autofreakgarage Thanks for the reply! Honestly, I don't have the patience. Thanks anyway though. Keep the good great content coming. Hope you end up keeping the STi.
you haven't done anything internally in the engine right? you get on it pretty good and still haven't blown the motor? makes me wonder what people do to get rod knock!!
Stock block. Stock internals. All original. It’s about maintenance and how it was modified. I always preach about maintenance, doing all the supporting mods, and using top tier parts. It makes a big difference and my car is proof that it can be done right.
Does upgrading the turbo make the car louder? i see that you have an external gate also but when it’s not dumping is it louder or nearly the same sound
Lmao any tips? Jk honestly though there is no quick and easy way to get there buddy. He is 100k+ into his Sti build. Including the cost of my car I’m 80k into my 21 sti build. Your best bet is catching sales, coupons codes, and using sites like rallysport direct that let you rack up points to use on discounts.
6 years of impeccable maintenance and attention to detail. Great driving too, I love that you aren't afraid to push it around. Wide open!

It still looks like a brand new STI! You’ve maintained it exceptionally well.

Hi Chris,
Car looks and sounds great!
Have you tried different ceramic coating products?

I’ve tried a few in the past but my favorite is the gtechniq csl and exo v4. The ease of application, the look, and durability is hard to beat.

Ahhh man I dont want u to sell it sooo baddd haha. Such a wicked build.
So bad they stopped making stis and the current WRX is just not the same with the ugliest rear end possibly ever put on a sports car

You might have said in the video but are you still on the original EJ?
Original motor. Never opened. New owner has put over 15k miles on the car since it was purchased and still running strong.

How much drone would you say an Invidia N1 on a stock sti would have?
Never driven in a car with that exhaust, but I would imagine pretty decent given the design.
Why does the 2017 sound different from the 18 and up
I’m confused
They sound the same. My setup was different as I ran EL headers on this car.

What’s the gas mileage like both city/hwy?

Yes sir. Koyo rad does a great job keeping the temps low.

Definitely worth it and it’s reasonably priced. Recommend it to any STI owner.
