I had the same rattle in my 15 STi, got rid of it, now im going rotated turbo setup, long journey, lots of patience and $$$ to put it where i want it, powerful and reliable as possible since its not my daily as well.
What is interesting is how the power stayed to redline with the grimmspeed TMIC. Almost begs the question is how much power, is there really, left on the table if you switch to a FMIC.
Looks great !! 400whp range is really the sweet spot for these EJs, especially combined with Ethanol for all the perks/safety it offers. Myself along with a few friends around town all float around 400whp and its Great usable power for daily street use! Now to hit the streets of Mexico to let this thing breathe! I know how exciting this feels to finally join that 400 Club!! Gratz!!

I think the only difference between the Subaru roki filter and Mazda filter is the volume it holds. Same internals for sure. Flat irons cut them apart to show us

@@Autofreakgarage I ran a very similar combination on a single avcs Ej. upgraded topmount, dom 1.5, perrin inlet. The most fun the car ever was. Sounds like you already know not to let anyone talk you into pushing it. Maybe e85 but leave her the way it is. I got greedy. Car is now very fast but half as much fun as it was with your style setup.
This seems to be the consensus with everyone I have a discussion with that kept going for more. Most of the time everyone says they wish they kept it simple and didn't go overboard. Definitely some great feedback!

E would definitely be the next step, but fear it would be pushing on the edge of too much for the current motor. Even after all the pulls in the video, I had 0 knock the entire time.

Your videos help me make informed decisions mixed with a lot of research that I do understanding the engineering of the parts, forums, videos, talking to enthusiasts, etc. I was planning on building a short block and doing everything at once but I think I'm going to go to stage 3 on my RA block and already have the supporting mods. If anything happens then I'll replace the short block in the future and already have the funds. I agree and enjoy your approach of going up in incremental power to get a feel for the car - to appreciate the car and feel more connected with it. I'm sure I'll be more than happy with 345~400 whp. I did go to ewg (Plm up pipe with dump and a TiAL 44mm wastegate). I did briefly look into the built vf48, but I wanted something with a bit more headroom and ball bearing.
Well I was already thinking of going with the Dom 1.5 but you have definitely confirmed it for me! Exactly what I think I’ll be looking for next with my sti. Love the car and great content thanks brother. Next year new turbo maybe 😏
How fast have you gone in that car yet? Always curious. Hopefully you have gone at least 145+ in it on the speedo. Usually there is always speedometer error. Usually, the vehicle is not going as fast as the speedo registers. Every car I used to drive, I took it as fast road conditions permitted.
What kind of dyno was this tuned on? Those numbers are rediculous for the boost pressure youre at, at 22psi myself on a 1.5 and make 360 on a mistang dyno.
This was my previous build. Made 390/380 w a 20g. Really great setup and can’t go wrong. Had it for a year and still surprised me almost every time I did a pull. Enjoy

Killer b holy headers with swaintech. Ewg is located in the turbo up pipe. Not many brands offer it anymore. I used Plm but there are a few others floating around still.
Awesome setup and glad your loving it. Mine is very similar. Can’t help but notice the dyno numbers seem very high, especially for the VF48. Your seeing more hp than I am on ethanol @21psi and your on pump. I’d be curious to see it ran through virtual dyno, just for comparison sake. I’m also not trying to overemphasis the numbers as it’s really not what matters in the big picture. Thanks for the content.

The biggest thing is the fact that the car is not event on E and you have those number. You have a nice street car with a nice power band and you are all good with the Cobb carbon green thing.
what do you use for tuning since cobbs access port doesn’t work anymore. i also have the 1.5 xtr, but still on stock air intake haha. was planning on doing that plus a bunch of other stuff with a retune.

On lower/mid range my engine bobbles/ jolts around when I let of the gas with low/mid boost. Thinking the internal gate isn’t venting fast enough. It’s okay if I clutch and change gears, but problematic at time off the gas. Does the EWG solve this issue? I’m also running group N mounts and the Perrin pitch stop.

No issues. That’s tpms as that is always on since I don’t run tpms on my wheels. Greenspeed only effects those removing emission related parts. I am fully emission compliant.

I've run both. I've heard stories of alum getting seized on the wheel or hub, but never experienced that before. I prefer alum has they are a bit more durable overall.
Nope haha. I love the volume. Driving normally, it's very tolerable. Not for everyone, but I prefer a louder exhaust overall. It only gets mind numbingly loud when you are WOT and the wastegate opens up.

They’re really close by to me and I was considering them for any tuning I’d want to do on my 21 STI. Just got it, it’s been my dream car for forever. You’re right, it is a really special feeling.

He is right the sti should come rally ready. 400 hp and torque, and actually built like it’s going to be used. A stock wrx or sti is almost useless. Because everyone rips all the crap off and just builds them the way they want. So with that you should be able to pick your shell and put whatever parts you want on it. That’s what i do.

What does a stock Sti do on that dyno? i would have cried happy tears of blood if my dom 1.5 did numbers like that.
Stock STI's are usually around 250/260 wheel from the factory.

That was the hose clamp on the inlet holding it to the turbo. You can see the gold screw on the right.

I haven’t had the chance to check the % but I know I had plenty of room to spare when it was being tuned.

Accessport still works just fine. The only programs removed are ones that are emission related. Custom dyno tune from my tuner through the accessport.

Cat removal, tgv, egr, flex kits. Things of that nature that are removing emission related hard parts are what causes the issues.

You can go the stand alone route. There are definitely other options.

It definitely smooths things out. EWG will allow the waste to disperse way quicker and more efficiently.
Yeah I think that dyno is reading high kinda sus numbers. The 413whp is like 500 crank hp on the light side
Looks more like dynojet numbers. They probably adjusted the correction factor. But still good numbers and torque curve for only 18psi.

Yeah those numbers are insanely good for 18psi on a dom. 1.5 thats why I asked for a trap speed.

Motul xCess Xclean 5w30. If you're modified, lots of shops recommend going to Motul 5w40

I do not have this issue. I would try reconnecting it and seeing if that helps. Also make sure your steering wheel controls are programmed properly.

He is right the sti should come rally ready. 400 hp and torque, and actually built like it’s going to be used. A stock wrx or sti is almost useless. Because everyone rips all the crap off and just builds them the way they want. So with that you should be able to pick your shell and put whatever parts you want on it. That’s what i do.
