I have scraped together enough money to make my 2016 WRX run full bolt ons and e60. Its a decently quick car and I do enjoy getting on it from time to time but I dont have the first clue when it comes to the racetrack. Id love to learn but I think it might be best for everyone's safety that I am not out there.
YESSS!!!!! This is where subbies belong! on the track, flat out, s turns, double apex turns... sticky tires and a deathgrip on the wheel haha... !! I cant wait to get mine track ready! Just put my paperwork in for a 2019 STI Limited baby!! Ill go stage 2 and work on the suspension and wheels over the next 8 months here in Orlando!
I have my first track day with my 2019 STi on Oct 10th 2021. Great video, thank you. Have you run a track day with upgraded pads and that Castrol brake fluid? I will most likely be running OEM brakes and Motul 660 possibly ATE 200 any thought?
I saw 126 or so at the end of the straight while the GT350 was walking away from you. I usually touch 140 in my GT350 depending when I brake… sometimes a little higher. You probably need more power or less aero (I’d go with power). You also need more camber on your fronts. The Ridge setting for front camber is typically “as you much as you can set it without your wheel falling off.” Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Before I tracked my S2000, I made sure brake lines were steel braided, blue racing bluid, and carbotech brake pads were on the car. I never experienced fade ever.
Liked and Subscribed just because someone tracked an STI. Thank you. I do want to add a couple things: 1) Your line was great, you were just down on power over that Porsche. Great driving. 2) That brake fade at the end.. proves how fast you can actually take that turn 😅
Good video. I like the way you kept your driving within your limits and driving abilities. I hope to attend a track day once I have the means to replace my brake pads and rotors, have a spare set of wheels and the time to devote to it.
You should look into staggering your brake pad compounds. I run DTC-70's up front and DTC-60 in the rear. As well look into a good set of R compound tires. NT-01 or R888R's.
Lol. I had the same fuel cut issue two weekends ago at Sebring entering a long straight. It turns out that if you have less than a quarter of a tank, the fuel goes to the back of the tank starving the pump. My next mod is a surge tank.
Love it! I am also a west Washington resident. The Ridge track is only about an hour from here. Is it difficult to register for events? The website does not seem to make it very clear on when the next road track day is. I would love to register!
its funny how so many STI channels NEVER track thier cars? LOVE THIS!!! Big question i have is dry sump vs wet sump. COTA is 30 min from me and i want to get my 2020 STI track ready
Great video and review. Appreciated the review on your chosen setting of the dccd and how the car behaved. How would you compare the STi hydraulic steering compared to the wrx electric steering?
Good question! The STI steering rack help up just fine, although the are known to be a little heavy on-center. The WRX rack just doesn't have the feel at the limits like the hydraulic rack but, I never had any issues with the WRX steering at the track.
I'm glad I found this video, I'm looking into a tune soon and noticed your Bren Tuning discount code! I've had 1 other person mention them to me, how are they?
Do you adjust your alignment before track days depending on the track you go? Or do you just run a certain alignment that's good for street + track duty?
Cool vid man. STI looks like it's running nice! I'm surprised by the brakes though, what's causing them to fade so badly compared to the other cars? I thought the STI brembos were pretty good brakes from the factory, I am not too knowledgeable so just a genuine question here!
As he said. It’s the pads. They get greasy quick when really pushed. Need some GLOC 10 in the read and GLOC 12 in the front. Zero fade when paired with the SRF fluid. Also stainless steel brake lines and the brake booster firewall brace are helpful for better pedal feel and feedback.
Nice! Track look fun. I like that “corkscrew”. Definitely a lot more the STI can do on that track. I get you’re new to this track and rusty for being away from hpde for such a time. So you haven’t used much of the track and have not come close thresholds yet. But man Glad to see you out there brother!
what is some advice you can give to someone who wants to start on a track for the first time, purchasing a 15 STI soon Also I appreciate your videos compared to other content creators, very knowledgable
It would probably depend on the track conditions. I have seen many stock/near stock STI's on track with no issues, but I would def monitor oil and coolant temps to be safe.
Did you have any issues with the brake callipers discolouring from track duty? I see a lot of photos of 2018+ STIs ending up with brown front brake callipers after a track day. I also track my highly modified 19 STI (rotated turbo etc etc) and haven't had that issue myself. You must have gotten the brakes REALLY hot to have that much fade and the RE71 sticky tires don't help the brake situation either so just wandering if you have that discolouration issue?
No discoloration yet. Aftermarket pads/fluids/rotors will allow me to brake harder and later which will generate more heat which in theory, may possibly discolor the calipers.
I have a 2020 sti. Started tracking it after break in and on my second track day, my front brakes turned orange. I kinda like it, minus the mix matched colors between the front and rear. Also, I got small stress cracks around the holes. Running carbotech xp10 front and rear with motul 660s.
Hell yeah bro! I have been told from a buddy is that they grip a little harder at temp and can take more heat especially during hot track days. Let me know how it goes bro! How many track days are you able to get the the RE71's?
@@CarsWithJR That's exactly what i've heard as well. They can endure the longer sessions where the RE71's turn into grease. I've done 3.5 track days on these (Had to call AAA, buddies 997 had a tire unravel only got in a half-day). We're doing Sonoma on the 21st. I'm curious on how the NT's size compare to the RE's. Not sure 255 vs 265 fitment. Hopefully, i can pick them up next month. Once i get them, i'll let you know what i think, prolly PM on insta (easier).
And dude the car went sweet, nearly keeping up with the 911 but that’s prob 4 times the $$$$! Nice job man, always watch your vids from down under in Australia. Bty I run a wrx, standard! ......up to now.
Who, I do mean who, goes to the track with oem brake pads? I own a 2005 sti, 2018 sti, 2004 z006, 03 svt cobra, 2018 z06, and Ducati V4s Panigales out the blow hole! Why would anyone track an oem brake system willingly? Even my c5. Z06 got upgraded to 6 piston z06 brakes and aftermarket kit lines and oil before hitting the track. You tried to design the car as is it were a rwd instead of awd car and it is costing you. There is a reason four wheels go through corners faster than two.
I will in the future. I used to drag race a lot...waiting around all day to get 3-5 runs equals to less than 1 minute of total track time is what steers me away.
Glad to see guys who actually track their car after throwing down $ for mods. I hate seeing these 100k sti sitting in garages 😭
Hell yeah bro. More to come. 😉
Indeed indeed. Good on you sir for making the most of the sti.
Holla from Japan s204:)

I Hate to see 100k STI’s period 🤣
amen brother!
Had fuel cut issues too with my WRX on high g corners, and one way I got around it was keeping the gas tank above half
Yeah, that was I was thinking...I was getting low on fuel. I filled up with more E85 and didn't run into the issue again.

This video gives me so much excitement and insight on track days. Thank you!
Nice vid dude, have u had any discolouration on the callipers yet? Guys here are having them turn mustard yellow/brown when pushing it real hard..
Love it! I am also a west Washington resident. The Ridge track is only about an hour from here. Is it difficult to register for events? The website does not seem to make it very clear on when the next road track day is. I would love to register!
When you say better breaks do you mean just pads or everything including rotors and calipers? I know it's an old video but I just bought an sti 😁
its funny how so many STI channels NEVER track thier cars? LOVE THIS!!! Big question i have is dry sump vs wet sump. COTA is 30 min from me and i want to get my 2020 STI track ready
I was sitting shifting and moving like I was driving. Look like so much fun!!! 🤙🏽 the channel is leveling up buddy 🔥🔥🔥
Appreciate it!! So much work, so little time to film.
What’s your wheels size and tires set up? Looks like a perfect fitment 👍
The wheel size is in the description.
245/40/18
18x9.5 +40

I'm glad I found this video, I'm looking into a tune soon and noticed your Bren Tuning discount code!
I've had 1 other person mention them to me, how are they?
That 911 is so freaking quick! Looks like a lot of fun though.
Yeah, he was GONE!
Dude, time to show your face finally!!!
whats the device you have for live readings of speed, track location etc?
What is your spring rate setup for your coils?
I have my second STI, never tracked them and is surprised to hear that a car sold as a street legal rally car would have brake fade.
Lol ok
Awesome will you be making a video on how you bleed your brakes with that pump?
whats your spring rates for your suspension? @My WRX Channel
So getting new pads and rotors with OEM brakes wouldn't help? You got a whole new brake setup, can't wait to see it
Curious why you ordered new brakes?
Has your brake caliper paint discolored from heat?
Nice POV video on the track 👍. Oh by the way, Verus Engineering has a solution for fuel cut off issues on high g corners.
Do you adjust your alignment before track days depending on the track you go? Or do you just run a certain alignment that's good for street + track duty?

Great driving Jay-R! I can't wait to get back to the ridge now. What group was this that you were running with?
What’s wrong with the brakes??
Where'd you get that under hood vent cowling to send air to the intercooler?
That came off the stock hood.
How much are you selling your bucket seat? If you don't mind me asking
That was super interesting.

Sup Bro! 🤘
was pantifa there lapping their murdered out prius ?
I love your car and content! did you fınd out reason of fuel cut?
My theory is that the low fuel level may have contributed to the issue. I was at 1/4 tank at the end of that session.
@@CarsWithJR ook nice news :) I am happy to hear issue actually not a issue :)
How much you selling the seat? Also how tall are you since the seat is too small?
Awesome video, please do more track videos in the future, awesome car you have man.
Stoked for you. Looks like a blast! I wish so badly that there was a circuit here where I live. The closest one is 3,000 miles away🥺
Soon we will have a heads up display with the racing line like the Xbox forza game.
what is some advice you can give to someone who wants to start on a track for the first time, purchasing a 15 STI soon

Do you think a bone stock sti would have any overheating issues ln a track?
It would probably depend on the track conditions. I have seen many stock/near stock STI's on track with no issues, but I would def monitor oil and coolant temps to be safe.
Love seeing this! Can we maybe see a pedal cam next time?
Track day looks fun. Did your WRX do better than your STI? Great video. Take care and stay safe brother.

Can’t wait for the drop!
White size is that bride seat?
Hey when you get your car aligned what specs do you request ?
It would depend on what your intentions are. Track, spirited driving, tire longevity, straight line braking, etc.
@@CarsWithJR I guess I meant you and your car personally ? I was just curious as you do a little of everything.
Man, how many hp did you have here? Is stock? Or had a repro?
My brake went to orange after three track day, lol.
You need a dope channel sticker. Turn 14 through 15 looked like a fun one to get a little sideways on in the Miata. 👀 #channelmemberflex
Oh Snap! Waddup bro! New channel member!
My WRX Channel just supporting my favorite boxer beast. Lol
That looks like a fun track day! I still want to take my 15 WRX to the track to see how it does. Keep up the good work and like the videos!
Wow what a great track! Do they have motorcycle track days?
They sure do!
Dam bro I enjoyed that vid! Very detail 🙌🏼
what hp and tq?
Will you ever have MyWRXChannel decals? I love decals and I stick them on the cargo box! Also love the track video, makes me think of Forza.
Yes! I will have some stickers. It'll be dope. I hope to release them soon.
Can’t wait for the merch!
dude you can play that track and car on iRacing learn the turns / speeds. practice makes perfect iRacing.com best sim game out there
Are the brakes really that bad ? Brakes look huge
The stock brake pads are not meant for track duty.
great video bro
good race g
Loved the video 🤙
What size waist is that seat suited for?
34” and under.
Life is TOO SHORT!!
Man how do you keep your front lip in top shape? Like does it not scrape when getting in and out of parking lots? Lmao
What tires would you have preferred?
I really want to try a set of NT01's, AR1's or R888R.
@@CarsWithJR I have about 1-2 track days left on my RE71's, i think i'm going to try the NT01's next; 265/35r18

why not "track mode"?
It does not fully defeat traction control.

E85 in the car dude, that’s so pluking dangerous
E85?
Yes. Started at E65 then filled up. Ended up at E77.
@@CarsWithJR What's the whp/wtq, just curious.
