    Great video when I bought Nissan oil filters they were made in Japan so I guess all countries are sending their jobs to China and Mexico even some Wix oil filters that I'm seeing online at Home Depot say made in China working for Car quest most parts are from foreign countries I'm 62 years old it sickens me.

      @@WhipCityWrencher The BOSCH #3410 Premioum Oil Filter is MADE IN USA.
      The BOSCH filtering material is longer -- more pleats -- and it's wider. Silicone anti-drainback valve for long life and reliability.
      The BOSCH is clearly a superior filter to the Nissan filter -- and it's cheaper -- and the Bosch filter is available at WalMarts all over the world.

    Pete! Awesome video! Wow i am surprised on the quality of the OEM Nissan filter. Youre right the glue was sloppy and excessive! Im so glad you were able to compare the Bosch. I have been using both for my Spec V. I will now use Bosch over OEM. Nissan uses this oil filter on all their vehicles as a "universal " filter. When Nissan did my last oil change unbeknownst to me they used this filter. Thankfully i only ran about 3.5k miles and noticed leakage around the filter when changed. I am currently using a Microguard, but wow 👏 ! Identical but OEM Nissan has some explaining to do.

    The numbers on the back is the efficiency for the 3 different filters listed on the box. 20 microns for Bosch premium 3500, and 40 microns for both Bosch high premium L3500 and Distance plus D3500.

    Bosch appears to be better overall. I noticed this when I inspected these same two filters when I changed my oil on my 06 Infiniti M35. It had the nissan filter on it and I replaced it with the bosch filter. O ring I noticed on Bosch was bigger and better. Internally it looked the same. Nice to see the difference on the inside.

  • @jasonreid1332
    @jasonreid1332 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Shaber below mentioned the Bosch filter was made by Purolator, and I would agree with his assessment.
    Both are subpar filters and for the price points of the filters there are much better filters.
    I cannot believe how sloppy the glue was on the Nissan. I found a Bob the oil guy article from 2012 which says Nissan Oil Filters are made by Denso. That filter does not look like a Denso filter.
    Thank you for your videos and the education they provide!

    • @WhipCityWrencher
      @WhipCityWrencher  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks, Jason,
      I can't believe all the excess glue either, no excuse for all the oil filters I've opened that had sloppy excess glue, it gets me a little ticked off at times.
      I hope to keep on opening up these oil filters and letting others see what they are buying and using in their vehicles. It's definitely a learning experience for me, I hope it is for everyone else as well, and maybe helps others out. Thanks😊

    Years ago the Bosch regular/Premium and Mobil 1 filters were identical for my truck. Same ratings too. I used both and were fine but Bosch was about 3 bucks cheaper. Later they went to 30 micron ratings on these high mileage long life filters on both. Went back to Reg Wix/Napa Gold.

      That's what I thought - that the Bosch was the smaller filter, but that is the one covered in glue chunks (which could come loose under heat) at the media edges, yet that is the one the OP prefers! Check out the Motorcraft vs Toyota (smaller) filters comparison. While I prefer a larger filter, there was no arguing that Toyota was quality all the way.

    The famous 95 MERC runs Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, 5-W-20; Bosch #3410 Premium Oil Filter; and FILTERMAG #SS365PR Magnet Kit.
    The Bosch has a 20-Micron rating -- most others do not. The FILTERMAG has 22.5 sq. in. of surface area -- and it has been treated to function perfectly from -40 F - to - +302 F.
    Most oil filters use the flat spring -- the coil spring does not work any better or hold pressure any better than the flat spring -- if they showed the actual spring rate, everybody could see that they have the same sort of holding power.
    ALL oil filters can be greatly improved by adding the FILTERMAG #SS365PR Magnet Kit..
