    One thing you can say about the filters made in Asia, every single one you've opened up has been extremely clean on the inside with no sloppy gluing. Puts this and most American and Mexican made filter to shame.

    This is my go to filter on 3 Fords I own. And my daughters fusion. Bypass location and rating is key. Looks like the glue was cut. Poor filter media and wrong viscosity oil is what caused lots of 5.4 and 4.6 vvt failures in Ford engines. Oil passages got clogged up with fibers causing cam phasers to starve of oil. Another nice review!

    One the better FL820S I've seen recently. Pleat spacing and uniformity excellent, even seam pleat area. Motorcraft now claims to meet USCAR-36 'minimum' standards. For efficiency that means 95% >30um. The old 80@20um was a 'minimum' standard before USCAR. It's a fact the 820S ISO tested far better than the minimum, but because it's OEM won't get anything more than min spec out of MC. I suspect the glue was loosened with can opening. Either way likely would have been caught by media. I'd tell the owner to skip the Lucas snake oil and save money. The ST full synthetic by itself will work just fine. Thanks for the video.

      I agree with you on your total comment...That Lucas causes tiny air bubbles to whip up, on science I've seen on Bobistheoilguy...I do use a Snake oil to some, I use Marvel Mystery Oil, in a little 4 cylinder. It's looking down the barrel of 300,000 miles,and when I change my oil, it stays golden color for well over a month.It must being keeping the inside of the engine clean somewhat to achieve that I'd say...If you are burning oil, just go up to a higher weight, I'd say..I too am not a fan of Lucas Stabilizer...Great videos by WCW, as always!!!

      Over the decades, I've used every brand and type of Oil Additives on the market, in both domestic and imported vehicles.
      NONE of them proved to have ANY VALUE WHAT-SO-EVER !!

    By far the best value out there and a high quality filter. I'd wager you'd have to pay triple for anything better. 150sq/in of media is a ton of media and 80% at 20 is a really good rating considering most state their filtration at 30. I'd wager it's 30 rating is far higher. All that for $7!

  • @johnqpublic2949
    @johnqpublic2949 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Still a pretty decent filter for the money... The excess glue isnt ideal, but I'm not sure it ever breaks loose once it's set.. Pretty durable stuff. If you are going to keep the vehicle forever use a Purolator Boss, or another highest quality filter...But few really ever do that... Awesome videos by WCW ,THANX ALOT

      Yes but not for the money and most of us change our oil early anyways so 15-20k rated filters are overkill. I do like the purolator boss, I’ll drain the oil every 3-4K a couple times with the same filter. But lately I just use this motorcraft and change it the same time as my oil

    80% at 20 microns. Does that mean 99% at 25, 30 35, 40? Oil filters need a standardized rating system.

      @faxmen09 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WhipCityWrencherI'm not much for efficiency extrapolation, but it's not unreasonable to think 95%@30um (USCAR) is pretty close to 80%@20um. So fwiw, I agree with you. Again though, that a minimum published standard which more than most OEMs give. Based on an Amsoil ISO test I've seen, it tested better than that.

    Would you say the Motorcraft or Fram XG2 would be a better filter? I had been using the 820s but was under the impression that they changed those when they changed the can so I switched to Fram Ultra. 🤔👍👍😎

      As far as I know, Warren Oil Co. makes Supertech oil, it's a good oil.

    too much glue looked like those little black pieces on the filter media were glue flakes or chips... seemed that way to me.
    I'd pass on that one and opt for a Frame Ultra or basically anything else really. Too much glue loosely hanging off certain areas. Also the micron rating of 80% isnt so favorable there's better out there.
