I agree. They could make the oil filters here and still make a healthy profit. These big companies get pay raises all the time via a tax cut but that ain’t good enough for them. The big companies are loyal to the bottom line and the share holders and they have zero loyalty.

Heads up fellas, my last batch of Liberfiner P967 filters came from Brazil. Less pleats, and thinner filter media. Never had an issue with our Champ filters and they are cheaper than many alternatives on the market. If you can get the ones made in USA you can't go wrong for a budget filter.

I really like the upper bypass filter on the Bosch but what the hell is going on with their quality control? First you have one with knackered louvres and now you have one with crap all over the inside of the can. I'm not sure I like either one. The filter media on the Bosch might be thinner but the media itself might be more dense. I think I'll stick with my Purolators. Great Job Pete, you really are showing us these brands.

I try and go for MANN filters for Euro car since they are the OE manufacturer oftentimes. We've had no problems with the Champ/Luberfiner filters over the years. I would be more concerned about that substance in the Bosch. Luber is going through some changes with champion taking over fram. I know some of the heavy duty side of fram is coming from luber. In this case, the components of the Bosch are better than the Luber Finer. The Bosch looks like it's using components from the Wix parts bin - at least what Wix used to use as they seem to have moved on from the upper bypass valve part. The quality control on the Bosch is lacking though - what is that gunk in there?

Great job Whip, that is a pretty small filter for such a large engine. I would consider an oil bypass kit if I had the 7.3 engine. The bosh is a decent choice, but I prefer a metal crimped seam and a coil spring. I wouldn't consider using the lube finer due to the felt end caps, glued seam and overall cheap construction. I would consider using a napa gold or platinum or Baldwin oil filter for this application.
