Hey Friends,
This week I wanted to share my thoughts on Justin Timberlake and his DWI. Justin Timberlake is not only a huge artist, he was a huge part of my childhood. I remember watching N'SYNC as a kid and the way boybands were back then it felt timeless like not matter how old they were they were the same age as their fans and sharing experiences with us on top of singing about things we were actually feeling.
Once Justin broke off into his own solo career I did wonder how it would go but it was a huge success and in what felt like no time he went from Disney Mouseketeer to international pop star dating Britney Spears or Jessica Biel.
In the last couple years public opinion of just appears to have soured in many with Britney's book revealing heartbreaking details of their time together as well as instances of him treating her horribly.
On top of that some of the recent drinking and most recent DWI has fans concerned. Genuinely hope Justin figures things out and gets back on his feet.
I also mention the "tradwife" who went viral for using coarse language in the last week and her backstory.

The thing that cracks me up the most is the articles out about the cop that arrested him. "Everyone hates this guy because he's always pulling people over for traffic violations they actually did and handing out tickets. He ruined my lunch plans by pulling me over because I was on my cell phone while driving! How very dare he!" Yes, the biggest dirt they could find is... "he does his job."

I live in New Zealand, and the fact that Justin Timberlake got arrested was on our evening news broadcast. I have no idea why they feel like this is nationally important for us to know over here.

I'm within swimming distance to The Hamptons where this took place and it didn't make the local news. Well I couldn't swim that far but my town does a Swim Across Long Island Sound charity race thing every year, so some people can swim there.

The way he handled the cricket alarm really showed his comedic genius. He coulda gone a lot of different ways with that on the spot, but he just took his time crafting some of the funniest completely improvised shit.
4:30 -When I met Rihanna I had no idea who she was and just told everyone we met some super rich person's kid who picked up our boat on a mega yacht and I only focused on how cool the yacht was itself.
It was literally 2 months later when my friend sent me a screenshot of her Instagram picture of us, that I realized that she was actually a global celebrity.
The best part was when we asked her who she was, she just laughed out loud and we looked at each other with no idea why.
I think some celebrities don't mind not being recognized.

He's been capitalizing on the current events format pretty heavily lately and it's been paying off because he's one of the best people to do it. He's also tried a few other formats if memory serves that didn't work as well, and I think Ive personally seen him really focus on this sort of format since those because they work.
Can't wait for him to hit 1m, I hope we get a special out of it or something. He's far and away my favorite comedian right now.

Cop did give him a pass initially based on the friends. It was the cops understanding that of the friends who showed up multiple were sober and one was going to drive him home. So he originally let it slide on that basis. Then like 5 minutes later he sees Justin driving his own fucking car again, pulls him over a second time and that's when he went to jail.
btw, this officer, who was initially willing to let the DUI slide due to a change to a sober driver, has also had a few articles detailing complaints from residents of the town essentially calling him a "hardass" and a "menace" because he apparently never lets things slide, and has built a reputation out of it in just THREE MONTHS as an officer, and the residents of this rich ass town don't like that for obvious reasons.

From an old doc to a newbie - you've got this 👍 It's going to get rough, sometimes you're going to question why you're doing this to yourself but, ultimately, it is worth it - I promise.
Some advice: Always listen to your patients - they are your best resource and, if you truly listen, they will tell you things that will save you (& them) a lot of stress; Asking for help is OK - nobody knows everything, no matter how much they argue to the contrary; Patients respect honesty far more than attempts to BS them... Always remember that you never truly know who is in front of you - they may be listed as an office worker, but they may also have 20 years of nursing under their belt, or be married to someone with extensive knowledge; If you're not sure what level to explain something at, just ask your patient. I find that saying "it's my job to make sure you understand this, so please tell me if I mess up and don't make things clear, or if I'm not giving enough detail" puts patients at ease and makes them more likely to speak up and say "I don't understand" or "I have a chemistry degree, can I see my bloodwork results?"; and, lastly, just be yourself - don't put on the "all-knowing doctor" act. You don't need it, because you're good enough as you are. You got this far by being yourself....
