Of all the ways I saw to change the alternator of this vehicle, this was undoubtedly the smartest of all

Just a couple of extra tips:
    - If the black piece over the radiator is making it difficult to get to the screws, it easily disconnects from the bumper by removing a couple of screws behind the lip where it meets the bumper.
    - The bottom alternator bolt doesn't screw through a solid bracket like the top one does, the bottom bracket is open on top. I found it easier to not remove the bottom bolt all the way when removing the alternator so that it holds the bottom in place when pulling it out from the top... and to then put the bottom bolt threaded partially into the new one before dropping it in, and then just tightening it once it was seated properly and the top bolt was back in. That way the bottom bracket catches it and holds it in place while you put the top bolt in.
    - The very most helpful thing I figured out.. if you remove the passenger headlight, it gives you more space to maneuver your hands and tools through and behind the headlight opening, and to be able to get a better grip on the bottom of the alternator when lifting and lowering it in such a tight space.

This is by far the best video I've found for this job. My biggest issue was trying to figure out how the serpentine belt went back on, then re-finding this video because I remembered you recorded it. I also (on the second viewing of the video) saw your warning to take note of the belt location before removing it.

Thank you for making this video. It was great information, and I was able to replace my 2011 SX V6.3.5L Sorento's alternator. BTW, I didn't have to remove the dipstick line. I loosened the radiator and radiator fan, and by wiggling the dipstick line, I was able to pull the radiator out. One tip is to use a big plastic cable tie and run it through one of the alternator screw holes to hold it in place while you find the best way to pull it out. Thank you, everyone!

That’s looks painful. I can feel the frustration thru the screen. I have this car and I pray the alternator never needs to be changed.

Would it be easier to move AC compressor back and take alternator out thru fender well? Seems like a lot of extra steps and work

    • @AutomotiveForBeginners

No room. AC will have to come out.

What he said, no room. I saw another video that suggested this, and you'd have to remove the entire unit. There just isn't room to move it/twist it out of the way. The clearance is impossibly tight through the fender. I'm now watching this video, dreading removing what amounts to this whole front clip for this. FRUSTRATING.

This has got to be the dumbest damn design ever. You shouldn’t have to take apart half the car and drain coolant to replace an alternator.
Thank you for the video. I’ve spent half the f&*king day just getting the alternator loose.

The other option is to drain the HVAC and remove the A/C compressor to do this job.
You're not alone in your conclusion lol

How do you get the dipstick tube back in??
