I did end up undoing the passenger motor mount and removing the idler pulley, and once I bit my lip just right, I got it out the bottom. Putting it back in was just as big of a headache as getting it out. This is definitely my last Kia project. Thanks for the video.
Do not attempt this. I tried every way possible and could not pull it out the bottom. This guy must have lowered the sub fram when he cut the camera...or he is a magician. Find a video where they pull it outthe top. Pro tip take the 2 radiator brakets off then you can slide the fans all the way up and out. Then you dont have to remove dip stick. Hope this helps someone. Putting mine back together now. I did a lot of unnecessary work because of this video.
I'm actually doing this exact job right now. Just wondering what you did for the ac refrigerant? Did you just undo the hoses at the compressor and did a lot of refrigerant come out? Does your AC work fine? Please let me know ASAP thank you
The A/C system has a leak. So, I didn't have to evacuate the system. Maybe get a shop to release the Freon from the system and then continue with the job.
It's tricky, but the alternator and compressor can be maneuvered to get the alternator out. Or you can evacuate the a/c system and remove the compressor
I got my 2011 Kia Sorento in maybe 2017? Main problems I had was this plastic piece in the doors , tends to break, causing doors not wanting to open from either the inside/outside or both, the steering wheel buttons not working, my horn not work, (but my hood flew up and smashed my windshield because it wasn’t properly shut so probably why my horn doesn’t work) , mostly petty electrical problems, I’m at 200k miles now , and finally my alternator failed me…:
@@HIMDUNCAN404 clockspring from eBay fixes the steering controls and the door situation sucks ass but for the most part pretty reliable @MrRoostersmoke
I've never seen such a trouble to go through just to change alternator, I am going to try to sell this piece of sh*** before it goes down and buy another car that 's a little bit easy fix.
Thank you for the video. I've watched several, and yours is the most straight forward fir what seems to be a tough job.

Just got done replacing mine the way you did much easier than tearing the whole front end apart
You cut the most important parts 🤦🏻♂️
It is possible this way. I lowered subframe but it was still very difficult
Somebody jamming in the background.. lol

All you got to do is take out the bolt that holds the tensioner pulley to the block makes it easier to pull it out from the side
I also ended up having to take my a/c compressor all the way out regardless Kia failed miserably with the design of how that whole are is lol
WARNING! DO NOT USE THIS VIDEO! TOO MANY IMPORTANT THINGS ARE NOT INCLUDED!
I have the ac compressor 4 bolts all loose did you have to disconnect the compressor lines to flip it out of the way?
No. I maneuvered it. Kinda switched places with the alternator and it came out.
It's really tricky

@@LewsSpeedShop thank you for quick response!
Don't disconnect the hoses
How’d you get ac compressor out of the way

Hi I'm looking into buying a Sorento 3.5 SX 2012 are they reliable ?
They are pretty good cars. I haven't had to do much work to the Sorento

All the problems Archie just mentioned are the exact same problems I have.

At 2:17 what’s that nut called and what happens if it snapped
The nut is what moves the belt tensioner. If it has broken, you may need to replace the tensioner.
I have one now. I can not get that thing out. How did you get to the left top ac bolt?
It's a difficult job. Maybe try a swivel socket adapter to reach the bolt
@@LewsSpeedShop I did. It has been a tough week but I will get it done tomorrow. Thank you
Nice
What's the alternator model number sir?
I'm sorry. I don't have a record of the part number
How you suppose to be showing me how and you edited/skipped/stopped
Thanks

We all need to stop buying KIA that way they can change their stupid design.
Not possible to without disconnecting and draining refrigerant! Don't waste your time...pull the fans. This video is a scam
