I have the exact same motor and the most I've ever done on an outboard before this is change the plugs and gear oil. So before I seen this video I had visions of removing/replacing all kinds of bushings and bearings and needing specialized tools and presses etc. In other words a minor heart attack inducing task. But this all seems very simple and straight forward. I'm ready to take it on. Thank you for this video and taking the dread and mystery out of it for me.

Will pulling lower access oil drain area for power head? I have debris stuck that can’t be removed from drain port.

So I followed the video. Unfortunately. There is a “pin” in front of the water propeller. It has a full plastic thick oring under it. I took it off and at some point spun it. And don’t remember which position it was in when I took it off.
Now. When I turn my boat on after all this. I immediately start propelling forward (even in neutral, and when I went to reverse I continued to go forward).
I think it has to be that circle pin thing controlling this.
Do you know what position that’s supposed to be in when putting engine back in (and you’re in neutral). ???
