  • Yes, you read that right. Replacing a hose bibb using bread. Specifically, using bread to plug the leaking/dripping water after the main shut off valve is shut.

I was thinking bread when you called the leak, then you grabbed bread. Nice

Thank you for posting everything you went through. I despise cut videos where the person stops recording during a problem and then magically, in the next clip, the project is finished. Our house has aluminum wiring, had asbestos ductwork and probably has oddball fittings like yours. The bread idea was clever.

Great job! That bread 🍞 made me hungry for a sandwich 🥪😋 but now I know "how to cross that bridge" when I have to solder a pipe, with that constant water drip.
    Thanks 😊

I put the bread in and soldered the pipe. However the water doesn't turn
on because the pipe is clogged now. Im not sure if the joint is
soldered good enough and Im afraid that at some point the pipe will
clear and the water will leak out. Do you have any suggestions how long
until the bread will desolve ? Its been all day so far.

That's strange because a pipe should have at least 25 psi, which is a large amount of pressure. You can try to poke at it.

You probably put a whole peanut butter sandwich in there 🤣🤣🤣

► Mortgage: one slice of bread. Not one ton!

I think it's just white bread w/o crust, so it dissolves easy and you flush it out a nearby fixture that doesn't have mixing valve, aerator etc (or unscrew/remove aerator)...just an open hole as large as possible, for ex a hose spigot. And just use enough to stop the water and finish job, no more, too much can get stuck. (not a pro here, just learning this myself)

Treasured your video, many, many ways. I'll circle-back and tell ya.
