About three years ago, you were the first sailingTubers we saw. Your videos are always so beautifully done and inspiring. You guys made us want to buy our own boat. So we did! Aaaaaaand, last night was the first time we watched one of your videos from our own boat!
@@metalcore_lover Have no fears about learning to sail. There’s an unlimited amount of details you CAN learn, meaning you’ll never run out of things to improve, but what you actually need to be able to sail you boat is super easy. You can figure much of it out yourself by just trying. It’s definitely faster if you have someone to point you in the right direction, but there’s no such thing as not being able to sail. The hardest parts of it is taking your boat to a dock in tight quarters. The difficulty is not in avoiding danger, but handling our fear of embarrassment and potential damage on expensive boats. If you’d like to sail, just do it now. Finding a local sailing club is perhaps the best way…
First time I️ stopped and rewatched a TH-cam ad ever. You should be proud of your creativity and Audible should be very happy to have you guys as partners. Well done.
Dan and Kiki, it’s good to see you two back under sail. I’m amazed to see how seamlessly you two work together, but then what else should I expect after 7 years. You are in the place where I took my first lessons of sailing, 43 years ago and where I teached sailing during eleven years... Love this place ! ❤️❤️❤️
I was there at Easter 1983 we were sailing 2 Armagnacs to the Irish sector of Glenans Kobold Bleu and Kobold Jaune. Sadly no Glenans in Ireland any more.
I dont think you knew filming this episode, but the Glenans island are home to one of biggest sailing school in France. This is where most of my sailing memories are, very special episode for me ! Also you should maybe know that were you lost your drone is were we trash vegetable and sea trashable stuff 😂
I'm really enjoying the soundtrack on this one. Excellent choice! Really fits with the feel of the video and the place. Also, good work on the break points. Fitting the musical phrase within the edits to the video. Nicely done! You've gotten quite good at editing over the years.
We loved the part where y’all were exploring the town! I wish y’all could have shown more around the town, eaten a crepe, spoken with some of the locals and such.
Cool repair on replacing that little magnet. That the right way to do it and you made it look so easy and simple. I love watching you two so much. Don't change anything.
When saying, "Hey we can see Uma from here", sounds that much like, "I can see my house from here", you know you are where you belong, on the water living on Uma, you know you are in the right place. Fair winds, and be good to yourselves
Can’t believe you went to the glenans! My family tought sailing there, it feels so special to see it in your video :) - i’m so happy you guys enjoy Finistere/Brittany, it is often overlooked compared to the south of France. I learned to deep dive with the club on St Nicolas island (part of the glenans) - there are many cool wreck sites around there! Cold water but worth it Also “it’s sunny but you still need a sweater” is a perfect description of the weather here haha
The ability to see your breath is not really temperature dependent. The due point of the air is more important. The air coming out of your longs is close to your body temperature, and it is really humid. The air cools down really quickly as it comes out of your mouth and as the air drops below the dewpoint the moisture in your breath becomes visible. This can happen at warmer temperatures if the air is really humid. You can see this in the final scene in John Carpenter's The Thing. As Childs and Macready are talking you can clearly see Macready's breath. But you can't see Childs' breath. This means that Childs' body is much colder than Macready's body. This means just one thing. They never needed to mess with the blood test. Just take everyone outside, see who has visible breath.
Well Kiki and Dan nice going, that little magnet was getting tired of being cramped in there but didn't want to leave the boat 😃 sorry about the drone but pretty good record for 2 and 7 years. The Audible advert was cleverly done - once again well done Kika - it was fun to watch and now I got a free 30 day trial! Another excellent episode, and I hope you get another drone soon. Meanwhile--have you considered (if someone sponsors it, and you can find storage space) one of those rechargeable 12 volt hookah diving rigs for bottom maintenance, anchor de-fouling, and similar tasks? I have memories of a challenging afternoon chopping an infestation of (razor sharp) barnacles off the shaft and prop of a Swan 46 with a putty knife at a marina in Florida...one breath at a time. The owner didn't realize they'd attached themselves (after not sailing for only a couple of months) until he started up and found the engine absolutely incapable of moving the boat either forward or backward.

Cool episode. I lost a drone last year at low tide in less than 3 feet of crystal clear tropical waters... still couldn't find it, and I knew precisely where it went down. It's a very big ocean for such a tiny drone to hide out in. 😒
Imagine how he would have reacted if they had ordered, bought, and waited for a replacement part only to find it in the chain locker during the repair.
There is a floating Drone on the market, I don‘t know the Brand. I‘ve Seen it on another Sailing Channel, Captain Rick‘s Sophisticated Lady, perhaps you can ask him where to get it. As always, you are the best Sailing Channel at present.
Drones are very light, relatively. Some stylish foam pontoons gluded on would allow you to land on water, or at least not sink and be lost, no fancy/unreliable air system needed. I invent things, you're welcome. I bought a cheap dog tracker (a tile might work for Apple) works 300 ft to phone. If lost in grass or trees that would help as well. Makes for a quicker search pattern. The next Uma AquaDrone could be awesome. You might also consider an underwater drone, see if there are things to dive on, film or fish for. Love your content. Sail on, thanks for the show. 🐬🏝🐠 ⛵
Hi guys ! I’m a huge fan and definitely love yours videos… but I am not sure you did great cleaning Uma in the middle of the Glenan’s archipel. This is a strictly, restricted and protected area. I know you were not informed, you guys care a lot about protecting our planet so, I thought you would prefer knowing about that. Hope you enjoyed our marvelous « Finistere ». Continue realizing our dream ! Cheers
Lol, I like the outtro... blank... because the drone is lost. I mean I don't like that the drone is lost, but I like how the outtro is accurate and not just recycled footage.
Next Project for Kika and Dan: You've got Back Powder, a waterproofed tiny plastic Box, a small plastic bag and someone who tells the Back Powder to do it's thing at the right time. The Quest should be to construct a Drone Rescue Device (DRD). 😉😏 ... and place it on the market. 😎 But on the other hand, I'm really glad, you don't had thrown that magnet down to Neptun too. You had my attention at 1500th century. That would be cool to see.
Cool episode. I lost a drone last year at low tide in less than 3 feet of crystal clear tropical waters... still couldn't find it, and I knew precisely where it went down. It's a very big ocean for such a tiny drone to hide out in. 😒
Every video Dan is fixing stuff is golden and makes me smile
Imagine how he would have reacted if they had ordered, bought, and waited for a replacement part only to find it in the chain locker during the repair.
he grew up seeing things repaired 80 miles from the hardware store
I am in Las Vegas. I have 110F in my bedroom right now, the sun just set:) I don t ever want to have to deal with 12 C ever again:)
There is a floating Drone on the market, I don‘t know the Brand. I‘ve Seen it on another Sailing Channel, Captain Rick‘s Sophisticated Lady, perhaps you can ask him where to get it. As always, you are the best Sailing Channel at present.
Are you going to Les Sables d’Olonne? Must see is the street artwork made of shells in the town.
Top result with the putty and so lucky to find the magnet again!
Kika: looking forward to the sun!
Fog: welcome to the North of Spain, baby 😎 (or around there)
Should of gone to see Abbaye du mont - Saint Michel .It's absolutely stunning
Drones are very light, relatively.
Some stylish foam pontoons gluded on would allow you to land on water, or at least not sink and be lost, no fancy/unreliable air system needed. I invent things, you're welcome. I bought a cheap dog tracker (a tile might work for Apple) works 300 ft to phone.
If lost in grass or trees that would help as well. Makes for a quicker search pattern. The next Uma AquaDrone could be awesome. You might also consider an underwater drone, see if there are things to dive on, film or fish for. Love your content. Sail on, thanks for the show. 🐬🏝🐠 ⛵
The "Under Uma" segment. 😋
Could be quite handy for checking anchor and prop as well. Warmer too.
Probably the only Rona bucket in France 😂
Cheers
You can’t clean your hull in a protected area? I didn’t know that was an issue.
They are only rubbing off the marine growth that came from the sea in the first place. They are not "cleaning it" in the sense of using chemicals...
The Glénans sailing school boats with their signature red band in the main sail.... memories
I love the French attitude to teaching sailing to as many kids as possible here in the uk it’s been made into a sport for the rich and well off
Kika, your acting is brilliant and your film is a masterpiece
ide subscribe like and comment
greetings from Poles from London :)
Al
Lol, I like the outtro... blank... because the drone is lost. I mean I don't like that the drone is lost, but I like how the outtro is accurate and not just recycled footage.
Next Project for Kika and Dan: You've got Back Powder, a waterproofed tiny plastic Box, a small plastic bag and someone who tells the Back Powder to do it's thing at the right time. The Quest should be to construct a Drone Rescue Device (DRD). 😉😏 ... and place it on the market. 😎
But on the other hand, I'm really glad, you don't had thrown that magnet down to Neptun too. You know, his Fork ... 😁
You must go to Malta and discover the Knights of St John and how they defended the island against the Ottomans and survived the great Siege of 1565. 😁
That stinks. I lost my drone a few weeks ago. It’s good to have the flyaway coverage.
