I started watching this channel when you sailed past Vancouver Island, which is where I am from. I can't wait to see the videos of your northwest passage. Not much compares to that Zen feeling you get when you are all by yourself in the back country cruising. One of the most peaceful and unique things you could experience imho. Props to you as you are going way out of bounds and skiing slopes maybe what .00001% of the skiing population will ever see. I envy you and am extremely grateful you shared this experience. What beautiful landscapes!

Thanks for sharing this enviable part of your life. I am now in my 70's and in the late 1970's early 80's I used opportunities to go to some sub Antarctic islands and Antarctica itself. It was a seriously life enrichment experience. I then built a boat over a number of years and went sailing in the 90's. I did contemplate the southern oceans but did not go there. I went to the tropics for reasons and it took me about two years to acclimatize to the heat and humidity. In the end I sailed over 50 000 sea miles and crossed the Atlantic ocean 4 times and experienced some of the northern hemispheres winters. I share the thought that progress has interfered with the exclusivity and remoteness one could experience in these sparsely populated areas and the interaction local with life on these remote places. Unfortunately this year I started to experience temperatures in the lower regions to become uncomfortable which is the exact opposite of earlier life, but that is the influence of time. May a good life and experiences accompany you on your travels. Whish you only the best in your current setting.
My Fiancé is from Finland 🇫🇮, I’m an American 🇺🇸 and this channel is awesome!!! My girl showed me this video and I’m loving it. Keep making great content, your ancestors were the best navigators!

You truly have the spirit of an adventurer. I respect the strength you have to pursue your dreams and face all challenges. I wish you good luck trailing your path.
Right now, hands down the best actual on the water sailing channel on YT. As you say the outside editor really brought a fresh and expansive perspective!
Although I'm not a winter person, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this documentary. One could really capture your passion for skiing. Congratulations. ❤❤❤
A few years ago I had to deliver a small aircraft from Mid-West USA to Afghanistan, my route included a leg from Thule, northern Greenland to Svalbard for a fuel stop.. looking out toward the north pole when about half-way, I was amazed to see nothing but open water for as far as I could see..around 180 miles.. no ice.. this was September. As a life-long sailor I had to wonder just how far that open water continued, how far I might have sailed toward the north pole :>)
A lot of people are alone at home but with not enough that interests them to do. Fortunately that can always spend some time viewing amazing videos from Alluring Arctic.
AWESOME. Your footage is one-of-a-kind. Imagine this video, and Juho's series, had it been available in the 1900s. I guess Jacques Cousteau would be a comparison. I love the combination of skiing and sailing. The wildlife footage was gripping. Of the glorious panoramas and animals just living, I wish the scenes had been continued much longer. Thank you Juho.
HOLY COW. I follow some sailboat sailers but NONE in the Arctic. Very different. There are so many different issues you have that the others don't have. Freezing for one. You are well adapted to that climate. Even kitesurfing. very good video. you are an excellent backcountry skier.
I agree, the northern hemisphere is waiting to be explored. If you like you could look at Guirec Soudee who travelled the arctic for years, taking along a hen with him! It was given to him by some people on an island. He made great videos.
I sail a Wauquiez 41s - currently in BVI- soon to Martinique- I hope. An old Finn is enjoying the warm weather! Keep up the filming- I miss the Arctic sometimes.
I really felt the serenity of the environment, so beautiful! And so overwhelming, I actually felt cold whilst sitting in my cosy and warm living room 😀.
Arctic sailing and skiing what more can you ask for... Simply breathtaking video, beautifully awesome shots. I can only imagine the empty vastness, the cold crisp air and the silence in the arctic but hope one day to experience this myself. Thanks
great and incredible job like usual ... but we need some Sohvi content in all the episodes .... her great smile lights up the vast northern latitudes ....

Absolutely wonderful work, and you are right, having the backstory to your Northwest Passage venture is very illuminating. You are making my patronage extremely worthwhile. Thank you, and best to you and Sohvi!
I remember my first big trip was to the rainforest, I was really about traveling and enjoying life. But as inflation hit, I had to pull back. Even with adjustments, those earlier withdrawals and splurges are tough to recover from. Now, I’m more focused on making my savings last, but it’s a challenge I didn’t fully see coming.
I’m nearing retirement myself, and I had similar concerns. I started investing later than most, and just relying on ETF compounding wasn’t cutting it for me either. After working with a financial advisor, I managed to restructure my investments and am now on track to retire with around $4 million. If I hadn’t sought advice, I doubt I’d be as confident in my plan right now
I usually steer clear of recommending specific people because financial needs are so personal. But I can say that working with Emily Ava Milligan has made a world of difference for me. I noticed her strategies are tailored to fit personal goals and make sense for different needs. It might be worth exploring to see if her approach resonates with you
I found your channel at the start of the pandemic, and have been keenly following ever since, but never got back to the beginning. Now I know. This is a stunning video.
I have wonderful memories of my trip to Svalbard in 2023 aboard Aurora. I watch your videos with tears in my eyes as you so beautifully illustrate this area. So many moments when I think, I wish I had a picture of that…. Hoping for more photo purchases from your NW passage.
What an incredible journey! The Arctic is such a breathtaking and challenging environment to start a life in. The footage from 2018/2019 is stunning, and it’s amazing to see how it all began. I’m excited to follow more of your adventures-keep up the great work!
"Leo sent me" is the saying when TH-cam presents another wonderful series on sailors exploring the world and relating their stories in wonderfully crafted video. So, Leo sent me! Count me in.
Stunning and courageous. You prove that poem about the “The Road Not Taken” Robert Frost 1915. “And that has made all the difference” One of my fathers favorite poems, he’s passed now but instilled in me that pioneering spirit, that seems to run in your veins too.
When I first started sailing a friend warned me that sailing was a lot like standing in a cold shower with large fan blowing on you while you ripped up hundred dollar bills. But what a glorious life! And good on ya for living that life.
Man, the algorithm proposed your video today and I am so glad it did! Amazing footage and fantastic cinematography. I hate cold so I could not do what you do but it is awe-inspiring how you seem so comfortable in winter sailing and skiing in the Arctic. I am in awe. I am going to watch all your videos now!
That was an incredibly well made documentary. I've been following you for a few years and watched all your videos - now this is like the cinematic short summary version of it. Looking forward to the nort-west passage series. Thanks for taking us along.
Excellent documentary, very inspiring for those who truly want to live a serene and peaceful and yet very fulfilling life . Will show it to my teenage children who live in these confused times.
Wow, this is an absolutely fantastic video! I loved every single moment of it and plan to watch again. The footage alone is stunning, but the editing, voice over, focus on your goals and interests in life is great story telling and drew me in from the very first moments. It’s like watching an adventure movie. The landscapes, the mountains and snow, and you all skiing are all ABSOLUTELY JAW DROPPING GORGEOUS!!! Oh and the glimpses of few friendly wildlife creatures was delightful!! I’ll be joining your patreon to contribute towards more of this. Good luck to you!
That sunset peaking through the mountains with your sailboat on the lake as you skied down at minute 6:59 was incredible. Skiing and sailing are the only things that ever made me feel alive and watching you combine the 2 is truly amazing.
Another Finn here too. Me personally I just hate the winter.. and I could not think a worse place to be in than a boat during winter. But it is still interesting to see people do what they feel is right for them even when it is very different from the life that most of us choose. I like your camera work and story telling. You clearly are very skilled at making videos! Keep up the good work!
I appreciated the extra video. It was beautiful, and it was edited quite professionally, but it was also clear to me that it wasn't done by you. It was cut to appear interesting, but I really like the detail, pacing, and thoughtfulness you include in your own video editing. You are very good at creating videos, from the shot angles, to the mix of ground-based angles and aerial perspectives, to adding a touch of music where appropriate. You are a master of the craft. But I understand that you are very busy just dealing with the arctic and living your boat life, and I will appreciate all of the content you provide however you provide it. Sail on.
I think he is just finding filler material for the time when he is crossing the Northwest Passage (at the moment). It will probably be back to usual schedule in a few weeks/months when he is back to civilization. I liked this as more like a documentary of Juho's journey here.
Juho, amazing. Your best video by a country mile. So professional, could not stop watching. Had watched several of your videos but really wondered about the back story and how you got started. The voice over was brilliant and the wide sweeping shots skiing and climbing awesome.
Considering this is made by an "amateur" it is stunning. National Geographic should be knocking on your door Johu. Bit hard to find the address thought. A fjord in the Arctic 😀
You just reminded me what life is supposed to be like. Full of enjoyment, happiness, and love. I miss that life. I saw it on your face towards the beginning of the video and during the video. Wow, you have such a beautiful life aaanndddd a very cold one! 😆 Looks wonderful, my friend. It looks wonderful!
It looks like a hard life, but with incredible rewards for being sufficient only to yourselves. What an amazing adventure and life you have/ will live.
This is absolutely incredible. It showcases skill, resilience, passion, strength, instinct and much more. Very special attributes indeed and the landscape is also SUBLIME.
Juho this was a great summation of your early years on TH-cam sailing that hooked me on your channel a few years ago. You have unique content with beautiful drone footage that is enjoyable to watch. Thanks for sharing your journey. Congratulations on completing the NW passage on Lumi and I eagerly await watching the future video to fill in the gaps from all the Instagram footage.

Your videos are always top notch, and I really like your calm beautiful cinematography. But this video was absolutely amazing. Especially the skiing parts in the beginning (for example next to the Shadow) were mind-blowing.

The most astonishing film you’ve made, just beautiful!
Great episode Juho! I was wondering where Sohvi was… but then your explanation that it’s historical footage made sense. A relief 😅
Sooooooo epic. What a treat for all of us ... Thank you!!! (and your team/friends)
Am looking forward to the footage from your Northwest Passage to Greenland!!
Absolutely stunning. Love all your content, but this was next level. Can't wait for the north west passage series. Thank you.
@@TheEasyRail Is he filming the journey through the northwest passage ?
Это видео заслуживает, чтобы его показывали в кинотеатрах.
Специально пишу на родном языке, успехов автору.
Juho, amazing. Your best video by a country mile. So professional, could not stop watching. Had watched several of your videos but really wondered about the back story and how you got started. The voice over was brilliant and the wide sweeping shots skiing and climbing awesome.
Bravo! The best video out there on arctic sailing & skiing.
Awesome new format & production quality. Clearly put some hours in. Well done!
Amazing, how could you not have shown this before.
It is the best yet…lots of skiing…and great skiing.
Very good Video. You make it feel like we are there..Thanks again..!!!
That moment withe the Beluga was epic. I had to rewind it and watch it again.

This is the greatest TH-cam video ever made!! Somebody please buy this man a bigger sailboat please and thank you.

It looks like a hard life, but with incredible rewards for being sufficient only to yourselves.
What an amazing adventure and life you have/ will live.
What a masterpiece. Thanks for taking me along!
This is absolutely incredible. It showcases skill, resilience, passion, strength, instinct and much more. Very special attributes indeed and the landscape is also SUBLIME.
I'm blown away! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful footage! Cheers from switzerland

Food taste MUST be delicious while sailing in boat while sailing and such environment, NO money can deliver such food taste and the rest! Envy of U guys! US
Been watching you from the beginning, mad Australian woman that realised how long it took you to drink a bloody beer! Really enjoy your channel and you and your partner look very happy ❤❤❤
PS I would love to try cloud berries!
Cloudberries are an acquired taste imo. They are tart and taste a bit fermented@@sandy-quimsrus
