I know it will run better, for the money I’ll be putting in to it and the new injectors. Well see ya next time see ya bye bye

      Hi, I really appreciate you watching this video and leaving a comment! These trucks can be great transportation, they are usually very reliable, just be sure that you have someone check the truck thoroughly before you purchase it! With Gas prices going up, they probably aren’t the most reasonable option, but if you love trucks like I do! Then 💯 buy it! Good luck and I hope to one day hear your ownership experience!

    They make auxiliary Over Drives. To give you a 4th gear on your C6 transmission.

    • @MrBlitzkrieg1987
      @MrBlitzkrieg1987  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This one here is a 5 speed! But yes, I’ve heard of the auxiliary over drives that hook to the tail of the automatic transmission! And they are supposed to make a big difference

    • @karljay7473
      @karljay7473 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mine came with a Gear Vendors over/under drive behind the C6. It does make a difference, but you can get automatic overdrive transmission now instead of the C6.
      The real issue with the gear vendors is that the adapters are about $500 to go from one transmission to another. The kit cost the previous owner about $3000. You can buy a lot of gas for $3000.

    I like the way that truck has both a "Check Engine" and an "Engine" light (probably oil pressure warning or something else). I think my eyes would pop out and I wouldn't know what to do if they both came on at the same time 🤯I also like what you said about the electric car parked near a puddle and what we would think about electric cars - I have a an F250 with a 460 also so I didn't think too much of electric cars .

    • @MrBlitzkrieg1987
      @MrBlitzkrieg1987  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I’ve wondered the same thing about why there are two warning lights! Ive never driven or been inside an electric car, I couldn’t honestly say that I am interested in ever experiencing one, it’s tragic that it became a political issue and that internal combustion engines may one day disappear! Hopefully it doesn’t happen in our lifetime 🙏

      Do happen to know the gearing on your truck? Mine has 3.55 gears, usually 4.10 ratio will give you more power off the line but you will get less gas mileage as a result. I also noticed that when I don’t anticipate the traffic lights ahead and Im not off the gas before I reach the red light I get horrible mileage. Not shifting gears at the correct RPM (when its not fun) also takes a toll. I keep the truck at under 2.5k rpm always

    Tire size difference is @ %3.5. multiply the odometer reading by 1.035 to get your actual mileage.

    • @MrBlitzkrieg1987
      @MrBlitzkrieg1987  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Very interesting results. I have three 460 Fords and I've mostly accepted that there isn't much you can do about the fuel mileage. I'm interested to get your opinion on the low end torque after removing the air silencers from the intake. Some claim that these tubes not only reduce intake noise, but also improve the velocity of the air at low speeds providing better low RPM torque. Did you notice any difference in low speed torque (1500-2200 RPM) after removing the air horns? My latest truck is a crew cab, 4x4, E4OD so I don't think it will see the same mileage you've achieved, but I'm curious to see how it is once I get it on the road. I'm going to weigh it empty, as I'd imagine it would be a fair bit heavier than a regular cab pickup.

    • @MrBlitzkrieg1987
      @MrBlitzkrieg1987  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, I don’t think they had any effect on torque, or at least a noticeable one. I did notice the intake got a little bit louder after I removed them. By the way, Ford did away with them in the newer California trucks that have a Maf sensor and also in the later Vans that come with a 460, out of curiosity I was looking through the junkyard and found out the vans don’t have a taper on the adapter so I bought one off a van because it just looked smoother than the one I cut. I think the biggest effect on gas mileage came from trying to anticipate stops and laying off the gas to avoid unnecessary hard stops and keeping the engine below 2500 rpm while driving.

    • @mikek9137
      @mikek9137 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrBlitzkrieg1987 Interesting about the later year trucks not having the silencer. I'll have to open up my 95 and confirm whether it is in there or not. I think you are absolutely correct about anticipating traffic and lights, coasting to a stop instead of staying on the gas longer and then braking. Also if you drive in areas with hills, there is not point on adding throttle all the way up a hill to maintain your exact speed only to have to scrub speed with brakes on the downhill side.

    • @NobilityandLoyalty
      @NobilityandLoyalty ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Best thing I've found to increase low end torque is to install a straight up timing gear / chain . All smog era 460's 1972 and later came with the camshaft retarded 4 degrees at the camshaft which makes it 8 degrees at the crankshaft! Swap the timing gear out for a straight up gear and you won't recognize your truck . Mucho bottom end . I could burn rubber both tire on my '79 carburetted van. I had a camper van, heavy as hell, 33 inch tires and 4:10 posi traction known as Traction Lock on Fords. It raises the engines volumetric efficiency when you swap out the timing gear .

    • @NobilityandLoyalty
      @NobilityandLoyalty ปีที่แล้ว

      Problem is it may put you out of regulation when you have to smog test it in these ultra strict times. It will feel like you installed a very mild camshaft, just the changing the timing gear. I even run a 465 horsepower 460 in my jet boat . The stock crankshafts will withstand up to 750 horsepower and over 1,200 horsepower with the factory 2 bolt engine block.

    • @MrBlitzkrieg1987
      @MrBlitzkrieg1987  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikek9137 the 95 will probably still have the silencer, its the trucks that came with a MAF sensor that do not and also the Vans that came with an EFI 460.

    I'll have to pop an injector out and take a look. I have a supercharger on mine and am running 35s, so I don't expect great mileage (I'm getting about 9 now), but I have to change out the fuel rails anyway, so I might as well check. Thanks for the vid - good info.

    Ok math time stock tires 31.7 if the door panel says 235/85/r16 your “33” are actually 32.8
    Get your trip meter mileage (divide by) [stock size] then multiple that by your actual size
    (65 miles / 31.7)x32.8=actual mileage
    Or what ever your door says for factory.

    • @MrBlitzkrieg1987
      @MrBlitzkrieg1987  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, yes I looked into it, but apparently before doing anything like that I would need to upgrade the charging system on the truck to a 3g alternator. It isn’t too difficult since some later model 460 trucks and vans come equipped with it. I also haven’t researched what fan flows enough cfms to keep it cool like the stock unit
