Didn't expect the new Isuzu to be just as quiet if not quieter than the Ranger. Isuzu diesels are usually very noisy. It looks like Isuzu is really taking the "lifestyle ute" thing seriously.

Like the Wildtrak, but 29lbs of boost in a 2.0 engine does'nt make for a long term reliable combo one would feel. Rangers have had persistent steering rack, engine and trans issues that have'nt really been resolved. The D Max should be a better long term proposition.

29psi on a diesel is nothing new. And there are plenty of these with very high mileage, I know a dozen people of the top of my head all with Rangers both 2litre and 3.2, used and abused and no problems. My 3.2 never missed a beat. Meanwhile our hilux is on engine number 2.

@Brandon I must be lucky as well. 3.2 PX manual with 390k still going strong. Had since new, never saw a garage, not counting servicing, until 300k when clutch slave cylinder failed. Some people really can’t read. Clearly says in the video the speedometer show different readings even adding a extra segment showing the difference in each speedo reading yet people complain that the Isuzu was ‘faster’ to 100 cause that’s what the speedo says. Seriously, anyone who buys a ute primarily based on any speed is a worry! Such criteria is well down the list of why you should even contemplate buying a ute. And unless you REALLY need a ute, you are better off in a car that has way better handling, braking, performance, smoothness and comfort.
Far too many "pretty boy" ute versions driving around that do little more than tote the gym or shopping bags!

As mentioned in the video, speedometers are not accurate. Also, we lined up the footage on purpose so the throttles were pressed at the exact same time (no brake-hold). This was so you could see the differences in transmission lag and engine response. Timing with the Vbox for outright acceleration is different as the counter doesn't start until the cars actually move (the Vbox uses an in-built GPS). Best results were also achieved by building engine revs on the brake.

@@cameronm257 for a few thousand dollars cheaper Isuzu would get my money. Also smaller engines in the Ford would require more maintenance if you drive the ranger like a race car. • @cameronm257

@@TheHingshing It actually doesn't need to work any harder as it has more gears to use to keep it in the peak torque area.If you drive any car like a race car things will definitely wear quicker, but no-one is driving a Ranger that way. The BiTurbo has also been out for many years and has proven its reliability, various at over 100,000 faultless in owners groups, the Isuzu is unproven as it is a complete different car to those before it. The Ranger also is Australian Designed and Engineered which means the Ranger is far more suited to the conditions of Australian roads as they're the roads the Ranger was developed on. The Ranger is also a 10 year old car that isn't even matched by the 0 year old D-Max, just wait for the new Ranger and it will blow all the Utes even more out of the water with the 3.0 V6 Diesel and 2.7 V6 EcoBoost.

Sorry but I do not get the need for acceleration tests. Who would buy a Ranger or Isuzu if racing away from the lights is their want.
Brake test, sound levels, (including during acceleration) are important. How about fuel consumption. (I get you would have to share the published numbers as you did not have these vehicles long enough to check it)
But how about the ease to enter and exit or how well does the phone pair, how many phones can I pair? How easy it it to get to the spare wheel? (tire deflation warning devices) How good is the lights?
One critical point for me and who knows I may be the only person who thinks it matters, but is either available in manual?
