Ever since Chester's passing, I stopped listening to Linkin Park not knowing the future of this legendary band but now since Emily took over as lead singer, she reignited my love for the new chapter for this band
Chester will forever be irreplaceable, but this new chapter for Linkin Park feels like the perfect way to honor him. Emily and the band sound incredible!
It was his choice. He's distanced himself from the band for years. He wasn't around by his own choice for the papercuts release or hybrid theory rerelease
I accept this as the origin story of Linkin Park 2.0. Everyone was working crappy jobs, Mike randomly heard Emily start singing in a bar, and they decided to make music again.
None will ever replace Chester. It took the band 7 years to move on, we need to move on as well. Chester would be proud. Welcome Emily to the LP family ❤ Can't wait for the new album! 🙏
My biggest regret is never attending a live concert while Chester was alive. I will not miss the opportunity this time. Count me in for this new era. The band is sounding AMAZING. Welcome, Emily!
@@frutosergio i was there many times and I would tell you unforgettable moments I still have the ticket when they come switzerland for the first time. Hallenstadion was earthquacking. I remember we did a flag with our messages for them and they put it on the piano, we cried from happiness, i have a drum stick from rob bourdon and guitar plettros with the logo LP, I remember When chester and Mike came to us while playing in the end, we have great pics with them we gave the hand to chester and mike 🥲🥹🥹🥹 I would never forget how cool that band was and never forget what they created with underground pass! I still have friends from all over the world cuz of them.. I remember it was always a fear with chester he always had up and downs and I still remember reading about HIS depresión. But I will never know the truth. He left a big big family.
Yeah but not everyone agrees with that apparently. She sounds good but idk if they will reach the levels of Chester fronted LP. We'll see. I think I need to get used to it, I will be buying the album for sure, been a fan for over 20 years now.
Mike. You bastard. You made a 46 year old man cry. Great song, Emily roars like a lion and it's amazing that I feel like I can feel Chester roaring in the background. Thank you for coming back.
In 2017 when Chester took his own life, I was fighting body and soul against stage 3 cancer while my wife was 5 months pregnant, learn on the TV news that the singer of your favorite band died is like living a mourning while your body is dying. So to see the rebirth of Linkin Park with Emily Armstrong, for me it is like living a second Renaissance, I am very moved
@RagingKabuto i mean not even about real or fake fans, it's just fans who cannot move on. They still have their pain held on for so long, that can't be healthy. Prodigy also had a few concerts recently after having lost one of their main frontmen, even though they always leave room in their concert for the ghost of Keith, they will also have to move on and find what could be eventually their successor. It's something that Corey from Slipknot spoke a lot about, having Slipknot being this group that represents something, regardless of its members, which is important to its continuation. People always spoke about "x member era of y band", why is it unacceptable now? It's irrational pain fans have that need processing. Don't forget Chester, but also move on. The message is still there!!
Ive never heard of Emily but I got goosebumps when she started screaming. No one can ever replace Chester but she's paying tribute in such a beautiful and impressive way
Smartest decision they made. Trying to replace him with any guy would be career suicide because they will never live up to expectations. Going a completely different route allows a new chapter to start.
@@vict1435Exactly. A guy would always be in Chester’s shadow. A girl is a new and unpaved path and cannot be compared in the same way. Emily has a clean slate. And she looks like a great choice 🔥
They waited long enough, they showed enough respect to Chester's memory, and they honored Chester by not having anyone replace him even in the first part in this song. It’s not a replacement, it’s a new member and I’m ok with that. Her performence is amazing by the way, she fits there.
He was an integral part, oh well bro. Every member is talented especially mike. Kind selfish to imply they shouldnt continue on. Not their fault chester went out the way he did.@dustykriner7131
@@dustyleek If you genuinely believe this, you're not a true LP fan. It also is incredibly rude to Mike, Brad, Joe, Dave, and everyone else that puts in the work.
To the people saying there is no LP without Chester. How many of you know he wasn't even in the original LP but joined it years later? Therefore saying they shouldn't still go by that name after he sadly died, though he will continue to live in our memories and so is immortal, using that logic means they wouldn't be called LP after he joined. This is LP 3.0 so let's see where this new journey will take us.
Honestly, I think Chester cannot be replaced. Emily bravely took his place to honour his legacy. You don't sound like Chester, you sound like Linkin Park, Emily,. Thanks for all R.I.P. Chester
You can't replace anyone end of story. Nor is a group just one person and Linkin Park is a group. She is not taking his place, and she can't sound like Chester for obvious reasons. She is the new second singer in the group. Though I notice how you like many others seem to miss that she is one of three new group members. We are on a new journey with LP and so let's see where it takes us.
@@Dermacrosis maybe you didn't understood what I wanted to say. chester was a legend of singer. linkin park is a legend of band. when he died the band stopped because a band needs a singer. now she took his place, not to replace him but to be linkin park. I agree with you. She isn't his replacement she is the start of a new legendary linkin parrk, but chester was the legendary singer and I hope and I know emily will so good or even better than him. I like both, undertand?
@ I didn't misunderstand what you said. I just disagreed with it and explained why. I know this is something youngsters are used to but that is how discussion and debate works.
@@redmictianI feel like youre trying to create an issue out of nothing. She will most probably perform the songs with Chester, but that doesn’t make her a replacement, she’s just the new lead.
I think what he means by that is that if they weren't going to get someone to attempt to fill his spot, why not just rename the band aka just start a new one.@@anonym_s5031
Emily's voice made me feel something I haven't in years. You can feel the power, you can sense the emotion. It was a flashback to the first time I listened LP in 2006.
Its a New Linkin Park, adapted to a New World. A World consumed by the AI and Technology, minds falling in information overload and hyperconsuption. A New unpredictable Era for the humanity. This song is amazing, good power voice.
That moment after dreading to hear the new singer for months and… they actually fit perfectly. I‘ve had that with other bands, too. It’s such a relief, even without the emotional charge in this specific case.
I heard this song for the first time today, on the radio on the way home from work. Before this, it had been years since I'd listened to anything from Linkin Park, probably near a decade. My truck is old and doesn't have any sort of information on the radio regarding who is playing, but my first thought was "This sounds like Linkin Park." Glad to hear Linkin Park back in action.
Same thought , howevercnot 💯 percent riding wit her voice ... think she should make it her own ..sonically sounds to similar to chester.. which is not bad but is just a thought
I love how this song starts with Mike Shinoda and gives us a minute for us to get adjusted to the new song before introducing us to the new vocalist Emily Armstrong. It's the perfect first single for the rebirth of Linkin Park.
Have you heard any of her old band’s (Dead Sara) stuff? All of that is super good too. She also sounds incredible live. I went to a slash and Myles Kennedy concert and dead Sara opened. She’s kick ass
I agree, they timed everything perfectly for that show. Castle of Glass as an intro with Chester's voice modified, the new single as the opening song, Numb in the middle which matches the context of Emily trying to exist in LP now, and her duo with Mike at the end. I also loved to see the others members of LP smilling at Emily to show their support and their joy to be back!
Wasn't sure about this direction... but I'm sold. The fact that they didn't try to find a Chester sound-alike was absolutely the right way to go. Well done! Linkin Park is back!
They didn’t try to find a sound alike 😂😂😂😂 seriously have you listened to the side by side comparison?!? I’d have respected her more to sing how she does for dead Sara not a karaoke wannabe Chester not for me never will be
@@ferggraham9849 Sorry but I haven't heard anything that gave me that vibe. Obviously there would have to be some similarities otherwise she wouldn't fit with Linkin Park's music style. Is there a song you'd recomnend to do the side-by-side comparison?
Hope they will keep the original vibe, no matter who's the singer, and anyone can close eyes and simply hear and see Chester singing this He was one of a kind! Emily, just leave the Scientist crap and be the music, learn from Chester's loyalty, cause you are the part of one of the GOAT of the rock music, just live it, and you all keep Chester's spirit forever!
No one on this planet can replace Chester. No one. That being said, Emily isn't replacing him. She's the start of a new chapter for LP and I'm so glad for it. Thank you guys for giving it another go. You all are forever loved and were sorely missed ❤
ye sure she isnt replacing him ... but ... will they play only new songs live ? dont think so ... cant really imagine this chick do given up or any other "chester" songs live... im sorry ... she sounds definitely cool in this song. this. song.
No one can replace Chester, which is why they didn't try. Going with a female lead was a smart decision. She has potential and will grow into her own. The rest of the band deserved to get back to doing what they love. Honoring Chester is everyone's responsibility. They grieved for 7 years. I'm sure this was not done lightly.
Yea no one can replace anyone physically, but it's not wrong to have a new singer and to continue on. What you think Chester wanted the band to die too???? I wouldn't believe that.
@@Nadaters He meant it as in that they haven't gone for another male singer, because there would always be comparison between him and Chester and to be completely honest, none can beat him. So going for a female new singer isn't much of a replacement but more like a fresh start.
Imagine you're searching for a new singer for your band. It must be hard to do while you're grieving Chester. And then this woman sings this part in such a perfect way: 'Like a revolver.' They must have had goosebumps all over their arms!
THEN CHANGE THE BAND NAME DUDE!! LINKIN PARK SINGER ONLY CHESTER FOREVER. THEY SHOULD CHANGE THE BAND NAME EVEN A LITTLE BIT. THEY DON'T NEED TO WORRY BEFORE THEY NAME XERO AND HYBRID THEORY. 60% SOUL OF LINKIN PARK ONLY ON CHESTER BENNINGTON
as a die-hard Chester fan, I don't think this is an attempt to replace Chester I think it's an attempt to move on and keep moving forward and I absolutely love this song. It definitely embodies the spirit of the band and nobody is ever going to replace chester. I'm super excited to have her as the singer for Linkin park. Keep up the Great work.
"In the role of Chester Bennington is each of you" - Mike They aren't trying to replace Chester. They're honoring his legacy while evolving with their sound. Emily brings something fresh and unique, but Chester's presence will always be irreplaceable. This is about moving forward, not forgetting the past.
I heard this song for the first time as a random spotify recommendation based on other bands i listen to. At first i thought, "this is linkin park, but who is singing? Chester is gone. What the hey is going on?" But the emotion in her voice drew me into LP and their other new songs and now I'm hooked, or should i say re-hooked. I hadnt listened to LP much since their first 2 albums or so. I guess i'm a fan reborn.
From Zero ... really felt that. They lost him, honored him, made sure he's remembered forever and finally began anew. Favorite band for 23 years, will be till the day i'm gone. LINKIN PARK
@@WalterWhiteJP "Several years ago, I was asked to support someone I considered a friend at a court appearance, and went to one early hearing as an observer. Soon after, I realized I shouldn’t have. I always try to see the good in people, and I misjudged him. I have never spoken with him since. Unimaginable details emerged and he was later found guilty. To say it as clearly as possible: I do not condone abuse or violence against women, and I empathize with the victims of these crimes."
@@WalterWhiteJP Brother I understand. But think about it they've been gone for 7 years. Had they been money and fame hungry i'd give it 6 month a year tops for them to bring someone in. But instead they 've dedicating all the concerts, covers, album re-releases, and any event of the band, to him. I've been a fan of LP since "in the end" came out so i know exactly how you feel cause i used to believe the band was dead too. But this is a new beginning, nobody is trying to be like chester, it's just a new voice, a new style. This is how they honor him, making awesome music. That's why we loved them to begin with isn't it? I hope you understand, just give it a chance, see what they got, I know you wont get disppointed.
I see both sides. Emotionally, how could you possibly replace him? Practically, what were the rest of the guys supposed to do going forward. My stance? Queen carried on after Freddy passed on. And I think switching to a female vocalist was the best decision LP could have made, because any male artist would have been compared
My only disappointment is that I will never be able to hear how great Chester and Emily would have sounded together. She sounds like she was always part of Linkin Park
Indeed, the minute I heard Emily, I thought, too, what she and Chester would have been like as a duo. Edit: Moreso, that they would certainly have been awesome.
Heard the song in a random TH-cam short and thought, “Okay, her voice is strong.” A few seconds in, I was like, “Wait… this is really good.” Jumped to TH-cam, typed what I heard, and kept looping Emily’s part for hours-pure vibes. Scrolled down and was shocked it’s Linkin Park! Had no idea it’s been out for months. I like some of their songs, but this one hit different. Gave me that classic LP feeling-emotional, nostalgic, and deep. Now it’s my favorite Linkin Park song. One of those tracks I’ll keep coming back to for years. Already a classic for me. (And yeah, gave me the same kind of feelings as Bleach’s return LOL.)
One of the many reasons this works is because I could totally picture Chester singing Emily's part. This just feels like Linkin Park and I love it. The future looks bright.
I'm gonna pick a line that Mike said while opening the show: "This is Emily, [...] and in the role of Chester Bennington this afternoon is each of you". it means we must keep chester's irreplaceable legacy in our hearts and honor it by singing every single new song as loud as we can
Chester and Rob could never be ‘replaced’ but Armstrong is talented, and the song sounds amazing, I’m glad that the general sentiment is positive about all of this.
@@LuGlokk Yes because you knew Chester personally and knew what he wanted or how he felt about the band. If Mike and the rest think it's ok then it's ok. It's been 7 years get over yourself.
I don't know what happenend, but I literally cried because of this. Yes, she is not Chester and no one can replace the legacy he left behind. But this song brought up so many good, distant memories and nostalgia. It has the same vibe and energy as the old songs and it just makes me so, so happy to have LP back. Nothing but love for Emily and Colin. Let's start a new era.
En eso estoy de acuerdo, Chester era único, tenía una voz angelical con gritos endemoniados, y solo podía crear el mismo efecto una mujer que sepa cantar con gritos
I want younger people to know about Linkin Park; They shouldn't be another lost nostalgic relic of the early 2000's late 90's generation. So I'm eternally grateful to Emily & The others for helping to keep Chester's legacy alive for future generations. Rock on' Emily! In The End, we're still here.
Well said. Was so hoping the “people” would embrace this more than it seems like they are. Always gonna miss Chester but life shouldn’t stop because he couldn’t keep himself around. This young lady has a great voice and the emptiness machine is a fkn banger!
@@scylentdeth3198 lol more than grown. 40 years young. But that's beyond the point. Fact is she defended and supported a gRapist. Something that Chester was strongly against was SA, he would have told her to leave if he was still around. Maybe you're a gRapist yourself, so that's why you see nothing wrong with her actions. But she isn't LP and needs to be gone.
We all know that we missed Chester Bennington but can we please give respect and support to their new vocalist? I mean her screaming voice is great although yes, no one can match Chester's screaming voice. But she didn't join LP to replace Chester. She joined the band to honor Chester's legacy with them but to also fulfill Mike's wish of the band moving forward rather than to disband. Lets appreciate this new era of Linkin Park with Emily Armstrong and still please make Chester proud! Welcome to Linkin Park, Emily Armstrong. ❤
If this is what Linkin Park is putting out going forward with Emily as vocalist, then I'm all for it. Hell, I pre-ordered the new album that comes out in November. Been a fan since Hybrid Theory and can't wait to see what they put out going forward. Next to Shinedown, I can add LP to the list of bands I want to see live.
@SlipknotGlazer515 that's a rather selfish point of view. The band has every right to stand back up and start pushing forward again. They shouldn't have to stop pushing forward because a portion of the fans want to be selfish. I think that's disrespectful to band.
Where? I don't hear it at all. I just here the same generic singing of every female alt rock singer. It's bland, and honestly that's putting it nicely.
@@MrRoneoRegondola Listen again, the passion isn't there. She screams as rehearsed, Chester screamed from a guttural desperation and pain. Her cult, Scientology, doesn't believe in professional health care of any kind, nor do they believe in mental illness. Sxly abused children are told it's their fault, as they "brought it in" on themselves. They can't even bring the crimes to the attention to the authorities. These children must discover their past crimes in a past lifetime. Not just on earth, but any planet in the galactic federation. If this sounds unreal, like Science Fiction, it's because Scientology was started by a science fiction writer! Penny, a page Sci-fi author L. Ron Hubbard. @@flyingfreak90 oh I'm sorry for sharing my opinion, I forgot your; if I dont agree im retarded and deserve the ax. Life IS tough, especially when your taste in music is garbage.
The countdown makes so much sense now. They counted down to the end of the old LP era and once it reverted, the new LP era began. It quite literally started "from zero".
Dude she's a scientologist. They don't believe in psychology or mental illnesses. To even acknowledge a scientologist in this band is a complete disrespect to Chester
@delta5297 If by 'did some bad things in the past' you mean how she was born into a cult- she had no control over what family she was born into. And as for Chester's family not liking her, that's not entirely true. One of his children spoke out against her, but from what I understand he'd been disowned by the entire family, and he also lashes out publicly at EVERYONE who ever knew Chester basically- so I would take his comments with a grain of salt; and Chester's mother spoke against Mike for hiring her, but she spoke about a story which doesn't make any sense and which other people who knew Chester said was false. Everyone else in Chester's family supports the new LP and some of them even attended the reunion show.
She is good in this song, yes - She will probably be good in other songs that they do, how ever they need to retire / not revisit the songs by Chester. She doesn't have his voice or vocal range needed for the songs he did.
On Rob's departure from the band: Shinoda: Rob had said to us at a point, I guess it was a few years ago now, that he wanted to put some distance between himself and the band. And we understood that - it was already apparent. He was starting to just show up less, be in less contact, and I know the fans noticed it too. The Hybrid Theory rerelease and Papercuts release, he didn't show up for anything. So for me, as a friend, that was sad, but at the same time, I want him to do whatever makes him happy, and obviously everybody wishes him the best.
She’s not a replacement she’s carrying the torch in her own right. As long as people don’t compare her and Chester they will continue to thrive, she’s really freaking good.
People are going to compare, it's inevitable. Especially once she starts to perform Chester's parts live. People will AI Chester's voice into this song and probably Ai Emily into old linkin park songs.

This project needs another name... Not LP

I still hear Chester's voice in this song, I hear Chester's passion in Emily's voice. Respect to Emily. Linkin Park, the best.
Vocals? You must be a kpop stan 😂
It makes me cry it's so bad
She does sound great, but I've read about how she did some ugly stuff in the past and Bennington's family doesn't like her.
On Rob's departure from the band:
Shinoda: Rob had said to us at a point, I guess it was a few years ago now, that he wanted to put some distance between himself and the band.
😢😢😢😢
Sad to see him go, but it's what he wanted. You can't force someone to stick around. Hoping all the best for Rob.
I'm kinda sad that Rob isn't back but I hope he's doing fine and I'm glad he was a part of the band like Chester
That's sad!
Where was this statement from Mike taken from? Just curious!
Linkin Park isn't dead! Long live the king.... Long live the queen.....
She’s not a replacement she’s carrying the torch in her own right. As long as people don’t compare her and Chester they will continue to thrive, she’s really freaking good.
She's also a scientologist and s rapist apologizer.

The Emptiness Machine Lyrics
[Verse 1: Mike Shinoda]
Your blades are sharpened with precision
Flashing your favorite point of view
I know you're waiting in the distance
Just like you always do, just like you always do
[Pre-Chorus: Mike Shinoda]
Already pulling me in
Already under my skin
And I know exactly how this ends, I
[Chorus: Mike Shinoda]
Let you cut me open just to watch me bleed
Gave up who I am for who you wanted me to be
Don't know why I'm hopin' for what I won't receive
Fallin' for the promise of the emptiness machine
The emptiness machine
[Verse 2: Emily Armstrong, Emily Armstrong & Mike Shinoda]
Goin' around like a revolver
It's been decided how we lose
'Cause there's a fire under the altar
I keep on lyin' to, I keep on lyin' to
[Pre-Chorus: Mike Shinoda & Emily Armstrong]
Already pulling me in
Already under my skin
And I know exactly how this ends, I
[Chorus: Emily Armstrong]
Let you cut me open just to watch me bleed
Gave up who I am for who you wanted me to be
Don't know why I'm hopin' for what I won't receive
Fallin' for the promise of the emptiness machine
[Bridge: Mike Shinoda, Emily Armstrong & Mike Shinoda]
I only wanted to be part of something
I only wanted to be part of, part of
I only wanted to be part of something
I only wanted to be part of, part of
I only wanted to be part of something
I only wanted to be part
[Chorus: Emily Armstrong]
I let you cut me open just to watch me bleed
Gave up who I am for who you wanted me to be
Don't know why I'm hopin', so fuckin' naive
Fallin' for the promise of the emptiness machine
The emptiness machine
[Outro: Emily Armstrong & Mike Shinoda]
(I only wanted to be part of something)
The emptiness machine, oh
(I only wanted to be part of)
The emptiness machine
