    I completely agree with his 62A Hasport rear engine mount assessment. He describes exactly what it feels like. I honestly couldn't have explained it better. I tried 70a first and it was just too annoying and harsh for me. Maybe it would've smoothed out down the road after some miles, but I couldn't deal with it, so went with 62a. Good stuff !

    all those mods are great but nothing beats hondata and e30 tune , thats all you need. Your fuel pump and turbo is your issue. Exhaust and intake dont do anything , turbo blankets, catch cans etc. not worth it. Only thing thats worth upgrading is the intercooler for summer track

    • @GridZilla
      @GridZilla  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree to a point... Intercooler is great for cooling down air coming into the engine which in turn allows for more boost/power production but producing more power also means the engine will be getting hotter faster so if tracking, an oil cooler is almost assuredly a must. You are correct that the Fuel system and turbo are limiting factors but the limits of the Connecting Rods are also a major limiting factor power wise. You can spend thousands on a fuel system on plug in a bigger turbo but you'll bend your rods before needing to do any of that. I like the idea of a FlexFuel tune (More on that later). Exhaust and intake are mostly for sound/esthetics. Catch Cans absolutely help the longevity of your motor if you drive hard consistently (ie. Just changed my oil today at 5000 miles and poured out 2oz of oil from the catch can that would've otherwise deposited itself on my intake valves). Turbo Blankets, Different front grill that allows for more airflow, heat shields etc are all just delaying the inevitable need to change out the intercooler and add an oil cooler.

    • @troublezzzz
      @troublezzzz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michael Baxi Media It’s still a k20 engine. Your rods will be fine with a bigger turbo. Fk8 engine will with stand 600bhp on stock rods.

    • @GridZilla
      @GridZilla  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      troublezzzz little scary exploring that far into the HP range though I'm a ways from even getting past 400whp. Had a good long conversation with my local tuner yesterday. Fuel system and turbo just can't handle much more than what I'm currently running.

      1GTASANANDREASCJ you can definitely hear the difference at 25% open. When I had the Catless downpipe it was way too raspy for sure so I get where you are coming from. That's the beauty of an adjustable exhaust.

    Thanks for another great review- especially on the daily driving aspect. I'm looking to get into a Type R (2019 if there will be any left) sometime this year and have been doing lots and lots of research on the vehicle and learning as much as I can from different perspectives.
    My fears of driving this car around as bone-stock with its 20in factory wheel setup are the ride quality and its succeptability of the wheels easily getting damaged by either running over some potholes/cracks and/or other factors. Caltrains actually owns El Camino Real (believe or not) around my hometown and haven't been doing their due-dilligence with upkeeping some of the major stretches of road out here (potholes, large cracks, not road-friendly unless you're driving around in a truck with monster wheels). I'm beginning to think they're mismanaging funds. Anyways, with that being said, what are your thoughts on going down to 18-inch wheels? Adding more meatier wheels are definitely going to improve the ride quality per say over those rubber-band factory tires. Have you thought about doing this to your car as a daily driver? I couldn't remember if you had a video where you had a set of 18s.
    Also, have you had any issues involving Honda's nanny-aid Collision Mitigation Braking system wherein sometimes it gets a false-positive detection and suddenly enables braking while owning the vehicle?

    • @GridZilla
      @GridZilla  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mr. Tuckers sounds like you have some catching up to do on my build progress 😂😉 Nothing Wong with 18 wheels. Much wider variety of tire selections with far superior choices to the oem 20s. We (in the USA) don’t have the Honda sense on our vehicles so don’t know what effect if any there might be to the collision avoidance system.

    • @mr.tuckers2848
      @mr.tuckers2848 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GridZilla thanks for the quick reply. My adventures started-out by first looking into a 2020 Si but after watching some reviews posted by some owners (which included Honda sense and the collision avoidance system) I became hesitant about going that route. In essence, it's true that the Si is about 10K cheaper and lots of mods can be added with that amount of money, but I'd rather have a vehicle that already has those types of qualities I'm looking for and most importantly something that I'm going to look at keeping for a very long time before I get too old.
      I supposed that I'd better get back to Michael Baxi Media (Volume 1) and catch-up with your build progress videos. I think I've been bouncing around with your content so this time I'll just hit the "Play" button and watch from beginning to end. =)

    • @GridZilla
      @GridZilla  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Will Zhan full exhaust with down pipe and front pipe. Tuning isn't necessary for the sound but you'll need something to keep the check engine light from popping on because the emissions will be reading different with the down pipe. RV6 uses a 300 cell high flow cat. That's your best chance at not throwing a check engine light without a tune. PRL uses a 200 cell down pipe. Much more likely to throw a cel.

But realistically I know once the kid gets here then I probably wont have the extra money to save for a down payment to get it as a 2md car. Passengers comfort have to be considered when modifying my CTR as mine does the weekend family car duties. Amazing your exhaust is still under the legal db limit with your Remus fully open! 😮 The NVH did start to get subdued but the car was a bit more jerky as regards to feeling the shifting into gears take off and stops were felt more because of the lack of play transferred into the cabin but not enough for my wife to not be affected by the less compliant ride.

      Chris all direct port injection systems can benefit from a catch can. First time I changed oil at 5000 miles I poured out 2+ ounces of oil that would've otherwise ended up on my valves. Talk to any mechanic that works on modern direct injection cars. Buildup of gunk on your valves at 20k miles is not unusual.
