Manual is really not that hard. My first car was a Manual. Hadn't driven one in past 20 years. Test drove an sti a few months back and it was very nice. I would suggest finding a cheap used Manual anything and learn on that. Or have a friend teach you.

But, they haven't really changed in years. Honda changed the game with this one. My only complaint. The infotainment system and user interface needs serious improvement.

Obviously the subie would be better in the snow but is the type r fun enough to deal with the inconvenience of driving it in the winter?

The thing that pisses me off the most is the dealer's added margin in these special car situations... I remember very distinctly when ford rolled out the Shelby GT500 mustang in like 2007, dealerships were adding $20k-40k on top of the MSRP (which was specific to the Shelby GT500 itself).... That's pure mark-up by dealerships just because it was perceived to be an extremely special example (given there were no true GT500s since '69/'70).
I have left a cheque as deposit to Honda's agent here in Hong Kong and they told me that I have to wait 6 months, 1 year at most, for a Type R.... Holy crap....
Which are a much better option for daily driving in Canada. To own a Type R in Canada is like owning a corvette, you can only enjoy it from April to September, the rest of the time you need to put it away because it would be a mess on snow and ice. In any case I'm sure most people would prefer AWD.
@Nai-son ` This is a Canadian channel, and most people in Canada would likely prefer to have AWD because our climate, especially if they are buying a performance vehicle. For example GTI VS Golf R, people are going to prefer the Golf R all because of the AWD performance in slippery snowy conditions which are prevalent 6 months of the year.
I never understand this whole "AWD/FWD/RED works best in the snow" argument. Rally cars spend lots of time in the snow, and all three drivetrain formats have success in it. It's not about where your drive wheels are, it's about if you've bothered to buy snow tires, and if you're a competent driver. I drive my M3 safely in the winter, and it works great on snow tires. Also, great video! I would love to pick one of these CTRs up, the car looks like a blast to drive!

Even with winter tires most RWD vehicles still have risk of fish tailing, or spinning out if the Driver isn't careful. FWD cars are heavy front end so there's more traction in slippery conditions. AWD is superior in traction and can be in performance too if it's done right like the GT-R.
FiteMeIrl I agree. The EK has smoother lines and looks more classic. I couldn't deal with the childish looks of the Type R so I bought a 2011 ISF. At 30, I don't want to own something that screams "I'm an 18 year old boy that wants to race all the time." In the Lexus, the cops don't even look twice at me lol.

I have an 07 IS250😢 Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the car but knowing it can't be quick at all and spending all this money to make it faster will only make it just as fast as an IS350 is just saddening. BUT for an 07, let me tell you this now, Lexus was so ahead of their competition that this car isn't even close to outdated. It's beautiful, reliable, still has sporty handling, and Japanese luxury is so humble in appearance (high quality without screaming it). Glad to hear you guys like your IS Fs. I hope to own an IS F one day! But for now, all I can do is put F-Sport components in my IS250 and slap an F-Sport badge on it and call it an IS250 F-Sport😂😂😂

My 2020 wrx sti is better. It was between the type r and sti. I bought the sti. No regrets :).AWD snow, offroad rumbling noise. Type R is FWD and only good for turns in performance.

+SubieFL the focus RS will be more familiar and more fun. However I think it'll start to show its age rather quickly. The Type R is based on a significantly newer platform and it really shows. The focus RS will be getting a big refresh in a few years. They're both so good though and it comes down to personal preference and price (we can get the Type R for msrp in Canada, so it's about $10k cheaper than the RS)
I drive the Civic FK8 since 09.2017 and use it as my daily driver. All I can say is that the car runs perfectly, no flaws so far and I enjoy driving it every day. Great car!

The Civic Type R is worth the price of admission because of the amount of hype, exclusitivity and priveledge of owning and driving one right now! Heck, it gets more attention at car meets then already supped up FRS and other pieces of crap.

I still have my Pheonix yell now ITR that is RHD as well with the yellow SRD's. sold the ek9 for 25k and the spoon cluster I sold for 3600. made over 43k total on the car. im really missing the car now tho. im really thronging about selling my Lexus ISF and my 02 tacoma TRD 4x4 off road quad cab to Mayne get a brand new trd pro Tacoma or the new civic type R. its nice have a decent 4x4 during the winter tho .
So you held the clutch in and rowed through the gears... and it still rev match? I thought you had to release the clutch. Will it rev match properly if you skip gears? Like you go from 5 to 3
Kergami each gear are different in size, when you change gears, the engine has to either do more work, or do less work, whether you change up or down. The higher the gear, the smaller it is. Pretty much, when you go down a gear, the engine has to do more work, so you "rev match" it to the right rpm so that the car transitions smoothly. This is explained to make it simpler to understand. No flame pls :(

I just bought a Civic si coupe 2013 in great condition, and it’s amazing. I just missed my Acura rsx so bad and it was the closest thing I could get to replicate the nostalgia, even though it was automatic and trashed by previous owners. Honda is wonderful, lots of character.
EK9 is the best Type R, FD2R is exceptional too! FK8 is a car slightly better than the rivals. I still love it, but seems Type R aren't out of the league anymore. Back in the 90s, if you drive a Porsche on mountain roads, and you see a Type R, you better don't block his way.

A little late, but it's not possible to bring a Canadian Type R over to the US. Honda North America won't sign off on it with a letter of compliance, which is a requirement. The two vehicles are equipped differently.
Plah-leeze! Honda stole the wing from the Subaru STI. STI has rear sensors, lane change assist, AWD, and Limited has heated seats and driver side power seats. I have the Limited, and I love these features! It makes driving easier and safer. As for heated seats go, they really come in handy in the winter. The interior of this Honda is really nice, (nicer than the STI), but the exterior looks damn crazy!
One, Owning an ek9 is irrelevant in the states with parts swapping. Two, The new type r is drab, automatic with a European stylistic appeal. The old type r was a Japanese pure driving ff machine. Three, The feeling won’t be duplicated anymore because of how tech is transitioning into modern vehicles. Comparing both is stupid. None of them are the same besides the branding. If you can’t tell the difference then your simple.
Didn't mention anything about MPG I own a 17 hatchback sport it's pretty good on highway but I'm only getting 21-23 city the sticker says 30 city I bet this car only makes 15-17 mpg city

Yes, there's a problem with dailying ALL MT cars because of the damn clutch! I'm sure there are some of us willing to do 2 hours per day of clutching on the highway though..................................

I have a 2018 Type R....do you have to turn on that right signal camera thing?? Mine doesn't turn on any camera. Did they get rid of that for 2018??
The Civic Type R is worth the price of admission because of the amount of hype, exclusitivity and priveledge of owning and driving one right now! Heck, it gets more attention at car meets then already supped up FRS and other pieces of crap.

I have recentlysold y authentic 2000 ek9 type r after owning for over 13 years. I still have my Pheonix yell now ITR that is RHD as well with the yellow SRD's. sold the ek9 for 25k and the spoon cluster I sold for 3600. made over 43k total on the car. im really missing the car now tho. im really thronging about selling my Lexus ISF and my 02 tacoma TRD 4x4 off road quad cab to Mayne get a brand new trd pro Tacoma or the new civic type R. its nice have a decent 4x4 during the winter tho .

Kergami each gear are different in size, when you change gears, the engine has to either do more work, or do less work, whether you change up or down. The higher the gear, the smaller it is. Pretty much, when you go down a gear, the engine has to do more work, so you "rev match" it to the right rpm so that the car transitions smoothly. This is explained to make it simpler to understand. No flame pls :(

I just bought a Civic si coupe 2013 in great condition, and it’s amazing. I just missed my Acura rsx so bad and it was the closest thing I could get to replicate the nostalgia, even though it was automatic and trashed by previous owners. Honda is wonderful, lots of character.

EK9 is the best Type R, FD2R is exceptional too! FK8 is a car slightly better than the rivals. I still love it, but seems Type R aren't out of the league anymore. Back in the 90s, if you drive a Porsche on mountain roads, and you see a Type R, you better don't block his way.

A little late, but it's not possible to bring a Canadian Type R over to the US. Honda North America won't sign off on it with a letter of compliance, which is a requirement. The two vehicles are equipped differently.

Plah-leeze! Honda stole the wing from the Subaru STI. STI has rear sensors, lane change assist, AWD, and Limited has heated seats and driver side power seats. I have the Limited, and I love these features! It makes driving easier and safer. As for heated seats go, they really come in handy in the winter. The interior of this Honda is really nice, (nicer than the STI), but the exterior looks damn crazy!

One, Owning an ek9 is irrelevant in the states with parts swapping. Two, The new type r is drab, automatic with a European stylistic appeal. The old type r was a Japanese pure driving ff machine. Three, The feeling won’t be duplicated anymore because of how tech is transitioning into modern vehicles. Comparing both is stupid. None of them are the same besides the branding. If you can’t tell the difference then your simple.
My issue with this care is it's called a a Civic... they should have just called it a Type R
Didn't mention anything about MPG I own a 17 hatchback sport it's pretty good on highway but I'm only getting 21-23 city the sticker says 30 city I bet this car only makes 15-17 mpg city

No shit there's gonna be a difference. Civic was such a low class car compare to car. It's like a teenage kid driving a shitty car to what an adult drives. I went from Subie to Evo to BMW and the gap is clearly different. So no shit there will be a huge gap, there's 20 years in the gap of the civic for crying out loud.
