Underrated character, in this series they are a lot of stupid characters, than generally end dying, here Eddie was not stupid, he save the three of them and was brutally eaten
and the crazy thing is that he didn't need to do that. The female rex had its foot on the hood of the Mercedes which prevented it from going anywhere so eddie could have repositioned himself to allow himself to free the rifle a bit better and perhaps shoot the male to scare the female away. Now he probably couldn't have saved the trailers with a dead t rex blocking his path but he could have kept them up long enough to allow everyone to ascend and then he could jump out of the destroyed SUV.
There’s one scene in this movie that never fails to send chills down my spine. When Ian, Eddie, Kelly are up in the High Hide. And suddenly from the darkness you hear the trumpeting roar of the Tyrannosaur. Just the look on Ian’s face says it all. He’s terrified. But still remains calm for his daughter and Eddie.
I agree. Even some 30yrs later that scene still gives me chills. That feeling of “oh, shit we have royally f***ed up now.” The only thing I personally didn’t like about this film is it doesn’t have my favorite character “The Dinosaur Man” Dr. Allen Grant. He is my biggest inspiration for learning about dinosaurs in real life.
I saw it in the theater and when the Rex roar erupted, everyone in the theater went dead silent. (And remained that way from that way until the end of the Camper attack scene.)
@@FA_Horus I understand that. I’m not saying the film or book aren’t bad. The film at least is very good. Personally it just sucks Dr. Grant wasn’t featured in it. He’s like Indiana Jones of Paleontology. Still love Jeff Goldblum‘s performance. That guy steals every scene on and off camera lol.
@@Holydiver60 in the original script of Jurassic Park Breakout there is another incident in the USA and a race against the clock happens when Alan Grant is on the island with millionair Paul Roby (changed to Kirby later) and his family (girlfriend, not wife) on the island and the decision being made on the mainland to bomb the island.
The guy who gets eaten by the T-Rex in San Diego was played by screenwriter David Koepp. He was credited as "Unlucky Bastard". He co-wrote the first Jurassic Park and many other movies, and he's writing the new Jurassic Park reboot and Spielberg's new alien movie.
I maintain the Baby T-Rex is one of the most impressive animatronics ever. It was free-floating, only needing a battery/radio receiver that was hidden in the actor's jacket.
It would have to be Vince Vaughn or what's his name, the brother on Everybody Loves Raymond. Those are the only A-list actors at that height. At least that was the case in 1996-97. Richard Moll is that tall, but was strictly a comedy guy.
Jeff Goldblum has always been this strange mythical actor because he manages to play these badass characters but in real life he is the chillest, most eccentric, laid back dude with a mischievous quirk and a great sense of humor. Love the dude.
Fun fact, the scene with the little Compies swarming and killing the electrocution ahole was put in there to pay homage to the original ending of the first BOOK where this happened to Hammond. Hammond was so much more evil in the book, and it was SO satisfying lol.
And my favorite part was that it was because he thought he was being chased by a T-Rex and broke his leg but it was just Lex and Tim playing T-Rex roars over the PA system lol. Book Hammond deserved it.
The Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies mix and match scenes from the two books. You can find them all throughout. It will sometimes be different people or different dinosaurs, but what happens is almost identical. Do you remember the raptors chasing someone on the roof and her having to jump down or the T-Rex and the waterfall from the first book? The beginning of this is the first book's beginning.
This film is John Hammond's (Richard Attenborough) last acting appearance in the series. He appeared as painting on walls a couple times since. He had intended to be in the fourth film but fell in his home in 2008 and retired from acting. He passed away in 2014, one year before the release of Jurassic World. A promotional website for Jurassic World revealed his character died shortly after the events of this film in 1997.
Which made no sense since he was clearly intended to be getting healthier/stronger at the end of TLW. They should have had him pass in the early 2000s.
That bird's eye shot of the team moving through the tall grass and several shadows silently approaching them and leaving trails, the team can't see anything from their level but us audience see everything.... such a good shot that 25 years later "Prey" did a similar shot.
and originally they were pissed that the grass left trails because for every take of the scene they had to go to different places in the field they grew and crane the raptors to the spot so it would be fresh without trails to cover up. they wanted the grass to spring right back up. which when you think about it makes sense since if they left trails like that then most of the grass would be trampled if real dinosaurs lived in it.
@@scottb3034not necessarily, in nature today a trail forms and most critters follow the trail that's already been made. No reason to think it'd be any different for dinos.
@@GenericStatue I don't know what that has to do with what I was saying though. I was saying the filmmakers wanted the grass to pop back up instead of being trampled down so create a concealing effect and it makes sense because of the grass stayed down after an animal walked over it then all the grass should be trampled. Doesn't work for the scene.
Malcolm said in the first movie that he has several kids. Fun fact: In the Lego Jurassic Park video game, no human character died. All those people that were killed, eaten, torn apart by the dinosaurs... they all managed to escape somehow. Another fun fact: That shot of the T-Rex destroying the bus was used in a commercial for car insurance.
A lot of people hate this film, but I think this feeling comes from an unfair comparison with the first one. The first film is a milestone in the history of cinema, no sequel will come close. If we watch this film as its own product, it is excellent.
I definitely wouldn't say I hate this movie (or any of the others in this franchise), but I admit it would be at the bottom of my personal ranking of these films, more for what are probably nit-picks than serious drawbacks, although I would say the 'biggest' of them probably stem from the fact that I greatly prefer Dr Grant over Dr Malcom, so that's this movie's biggest detractor to me, which isn't really that big
I find the extra baggage they added to make the story work a bit pushy, but luckily it passes and is mostly forgotten once the film takes off. Malcolm would NEVER have signed such documents and with that example we can see where the story diverges from the first poorly. That was a choice which didn't help this otherwise decent addition to the franchise.
I don't think people hate this movie because it's not a good movie. I think they hate it because while Jurassic Park at least had like a 65% connection to the actual Jurassic Park story after Koepp touched the script Crichton wrote, Lost World has like a 5% connection to the book it's "based on" and a .5% connection to the first book and maybe a 30% connection to the first movie. Simply put, almost everything about this movie is wrong when compared to the book and the first movie.
The trailer sequence with the Rexes is phenomenal, easily one of the most nerve-racking and intense moments of the entire Jurassic Park series, and just film in general, from it hanging over the edge, Sarah landing on the window, the glass cracking, Eddie trying to save the group. It cranked up the tension and suspense that worked so well in first film up to eleven! It's expertly shot by Spielberg!
I love Denise scream when the raptor came through the door when they was digging 😂😂😂and funny fact when I went to the movies with my parents to see this and that scene happend my mom threw her whole bucket of popcorn to the back of the theater from being scared🤣🤣🤣🤣
For those who went crazy like myself trying to find Spielberg's cameo credited as the "Popcorn Eating Man," I'll spare you having to pull out your hair: Right after you first see Kelly, Ian and Sarah on the couch, watch John Hammond talking. You'll see Spielberg in the REFLECTION of the tv eating popcorn. When they cut back to the couch, it's over.
The baby t-rex was an actual fully functional interactive puppet that was programmed to move around by itself. They made it this way so the actors could have something to interact with, which is awesome. The actress who played Kelly, her reaction was genuine when seeing the puppet for the first time in that scene. 🦖
10:07, another deleted scene involved Roland Tembo getting into a bar fight with a rude tourist harassing the locals at a bar in Mombasa, teaching him a lesson. His friend Ajay Sindhu, asks Roland if he's interested in this expedition's quarry. Roland says, "Ajay, go up my ranch, take a look around the trophy room, and you tell me what kind of quarry you think could possibly be interest to me."
Also dives deeper into how he is a hunter too. He speaks about how him and RJ were basically a firing squad. They were too good. There was no thrill. He was even humble saying its okay if the animal gets away. (Sets up how he felt when RJ died) also during the rex camp scene mofo was in like no cover and he stood up let the rex see him and backed away slowly. So you know his hunting expeditions weren't like heavily obscured. Aside from the tree on the island but it was just like a tarp? And that tree had like no leafs just a lot of branches. Then he said some real deep you get more prison time for killing a tiger than murdering your own parents.
Its because of this deleted scene that i actually have a head canon revolving around Roland and Muldoon from the first movie. Roland shows that hes got a sense of 'honour' in him, and Muldoon was Hammonds game warden in Kenya, while Roland is a big game hunter and though not 'specifically' said, i think he would operate around that area, so i would imagine theyve have a few run ins on occasion. Hes been effectively retired from hunting when we meet him in this scene, and i think its because after Malcolm went public about what happened on the island, Roland heard that Muldoon was one of the deaths and out of respect for him, stopped hunting. Until hearing he has the opportunity to hunt one of the biggest game of all, a T.Rex, that he agrees to come along. Seeing that Ajay, his friend, died on this second island after getting involved with dinosaurs, he quits for good.
This movie is a lot darker than its predecessor, which one of the reasons why not everyone likes it, even the critics said that it was too dark and scary and too violent for the family audience and that's what makes this series great, it keeps you at the edge of your seat till the very where you breathe a huge sigh of relief and they all live happily ever after, until the next crazy adventure.
The people who say that have clearly never read the first Jurassic Park book. It is more dark, scary, and gory than this movie. My teenage daughter says I ruined the first movie for her by giving her the book to read. She says it makes the movie look like a kids' film in comparison.
My favourite of all the Jurassic movies! It feels like the black sheep of the family simply because it doesnt have Alan Grant but I just don’t agree, The cast of this movie just made the movie, and Ian Malcolm is my favourite protagonist of all the movies, He’s not the Dino hunter or the Dino Expert, he’s just a very smart dude that got into something outta his control.
Having Ian Malcolm as the lead was actually a good decision in our opinion. He brings a different type of presence and charisma. Overall we quite enjoyed the film!
i'd venture to say JP III is the black sheep of the family. No one really talks about that one much, besides the cool Spinosaurus look. Can't wait to see y'alls reaction to the remainder of the JP movies
@@OfficialMediaKnightsA question for you both.Would you be interested in reacting to these 2 interestinyes restaurant to another world and food worse? It be interesting to see your reaction on these series
Well, I like Grant more than Ian, especially in the original JP. That's what makes JP 3 even more disappointing, when Grant is in it, but the whole movie is simply terrible and has almost nothing to do with Jurassic Park itself. But The Lost World with Ian as the main character is just perfect.
I’m glad you guys appreciated the match cut from the mom screaming to Malcolm. 😂 I not only think it’s pretty funny but also a direct metaphor for this franchise. Who are the real scary monsters? The people!! 😱
Fun Fact. Steven Spielberg always wanted to make a King Kong movie. He said the King Kong movie from the 70's was so good in his perspective, he wanted to incorporate some of it in Jurassic Park. For example the Giant Wooden Gate and Ian's comemntary to expect King Kong, but also the choice of giant animatronic T-Rex because the giant animatronic King Kong was mind blowing to him. (src. Making-Of Jurassic Park) With The Lost World he had some snippits of the orig. Dino Park story that he could use to drive his movie, making it his own King Kong narrative. It's almost 1 to 1 the same story and it's on purpose. Calling it "The Lost World" was actually more of a decoy, expecting the narrative being the one of the same novel, wich it wasn't.
Spielberg was a huge fan of the 1933 King Kong. Not heard him say he thought King Kong 1976 was so good but he did love the special effects of the face so much that he hired the guy for Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. Carlo Rambaldi.
This is why Spielberg got away with so much. The comparisons to other movies is always there - almost in your face, but he is able to replace enough cogs which would normally be in something else which really camouflage's any hint of plagiarism. JJ Abrams never learned that.
If I remember correctly, the massive gate in the original movie was a prop taken from the movie King Kong.... which is why Goldblum quips "Who do they have in there, King Kong?" is both a nod to the movie and a tongue and cheek pun.
the lost world title worked better for the film than the novel because just like the conan doyle novel (that the book is named after) a dinosaur goes to and terrorizes civilization...at least the 1920s movie adaptation did that. King Kong is actually a copycat of the Lost World in that respect.
There was a version of the San Diego sequence that had the Buck get straight up merced by Seals when it got too close to the Buds training area, but was cut for the sake of not "ruining the magic"
"Oh yeah, Oooh! Ahhh! That's how it always starts. Then later there's running and screaming." Good god, I love this film with a passion! John Williams' soundtrack is as wonderful as the first one. Just make sure you don't listen to the CD while driving. XD One scene I wished they kept in the film was when the baby rex was captured. The reason why the infant was wailing from its leg being broken was because Peter Ludlow (John Hammond's nephew aka "pretentious prick") was drunk and tripped over the infant's leg and, I believe, fell on it. Roland Tempo (Pete Postlethwaite) then gets ticked off because of it. The film as it stands makes the audience assume Roland or Ajay broke the infant's leg.
Running and Screaming. Yes. I believe you can easily list these films in chronological order by the number of screams per film. By the time we get to the Jurassic Worlds, Screams replace 1/2 the script.
I do appreciate how The Lost World tries to be closer in tone to the books. The compy attack is very similar to what happens to Hammond in the first book. One fun fact the movies never bring up is that compys are actually venomous, and their bites cause a very mild narcotic effect that disorients and numbs their vicitms.
Ironically, I have a theory that while yes, Compies are venomous in the franchise it's accelerated from eating the fecal matter from the bigger animals.
I love the detail that Ian doesn't trust John and knew he was lying. When John tells Ian that Sarah is on the island John says "She came to me." When Ian meets up with Sarah he asks her "When Hammond called you why didn't you say something to me?" Sarah reply "because you would have stopped me from coming." Confirming that she never came to Hammond, Hammond called her.
As a fan of these movies I am obligated by law to mention that originally a scene was cut where the baby rex's leg was broken. Originally Roland brought it back to the camp muzzled, then Ludlow came out of the tent drunk and fell on the rex's leg breaking it. Roland grabbed him by his collar and threw him away and stole his bottle of booze. Thats why in the scene with the baby tied down you can see a little bowl and a bottle right next to the rex to help it deal with the pain. Its also why Ludlow is acting drunk after the trailer goes off the cliff and he grabs a flask. Then at the end of the movie why the Papa Rex chomps down on Ludlow's leg and throws him to the baby. Screen writing 101
Fun fact: the compys are actualy venomous, there venom makes you tired and sleepy, and you can barely move your legs, thats why the guy had a difficult time getting up.
No offense, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. No dinosaur discovered and researched has any proof of having venomous glands. Unless you are talking about Procompsognathus from the novel (which wasn't even related in the slightest to the Compsognathus, and the fact it lived in the Triassic, in reality ofcourse). Compy is used in the movies instead of Procompy from both of the novels. And they even mixed their latin names in the movie: Compsognathus triassicus, while irl it's Procompsognathus triassicus, and ofc Compsognathus longipes.
@@fyrasfacts1855 I'm sorry if I came up like a pretentious prick, I just saw a boatload of missinformed comments even on paleo videos and it irked me. I didn't know they made compies venomous in the movie franchise, it was never explicitly said in any of the movies.
@@markosofranic3905 hey hey it's ok, I understand, and no you did not appear like a "pretentious prick", you just came like a man that doesn't want to spread misinformation to people in the world and cause misunderstandings, trust me I know how is that feeling, plus the facts that you said were actually really interesting and entertaining.
The overhead shot in the grass with the velociraptors scared the poop out of my 11 year old self back in the day, actually had to leave the cinema, nowadays it's a wonderfull bit of cinema!
Well one thing this movie leaves out, for obvious rating reasons, is a scene where the little green buggers (compy) EAT a baby inside its crib. Very dark….but the whole book was. I recommend listening to them both.
Oh man!! It's my one day off! Great timing and great reaction, this was much needed... I needed to chill. (Yes, I worked on the 4th ,but I was compensated well.)
We used to work on holidays too! Still do (although we love this gig way more) Glad to hear you got compensated well and are getting some well deserved rest! Keep going, it’s worth it ❤️
@shainewhite2781 when the compies they killed Hammond in the end of the first book and he was such an evil character in the novel that I literally cheered at my book lol
@@deather6412it was a nurse in a Costa Rican fishing village who saw them perched over an infant's crib. Baby didn't survive, and much as it makes me sound like a monster, I really want a sequence similar to it in a movie.
I loved the way Spielberg chose to write Roland. He could have went for a stereotypical hunter villain, but he chose to write him as more nuanced than that. In one of the deleted scenes he reveals he only likes the hunt when its him and what he is after. He doesn't hunt animals that can't fight back and explains to Ajay he became disillusioned with hunting when he was taking "rich dentists" out for safari hunts. Saying they were no better than a firing squad. Its why hunting the Buck T. Rex is so personal to him. Its the chase of the feeling he used to have. But when Ajay is killed you can see the chase is gone from his eyes, despite succeeding. "I've spent too long in the company of death".
Spielberg said Pete Postlethwaite was 'probably the best actor in the world'. He elevates pretty much everything he's in and Tembo is one of the best things about this film. That scene in the jeep where he dismantles Ludlow is a way better introduction than the deleted scene imo. I bet him and Muldoon from the first film would have been good mates
List of deleted scenes that were filmed, scripted, or storyboarded: An alternate opening had Japanese fisherman haul in a large net containing the carcass of a dead Parasaurolophus, and after being frightened by the beast, the cut the net loose, where it falls in the water, setting up the events of the film. A scene involving Ludlow getting drunk and falling on the baby Rex and accidentally breaking its leg was filmed but cut due to pacing issues. Roland and Ajay find more dinosaur footprints and corpses of other animals, leading all the way to work Rex nest. A scene has Malcolm asking Sarah's hand in marriage when all of them head back to the mainland. This happens before Roland returns to the campsite. Ajay was going to fight off a raptor with his large hunting knife in the tall grass sequence, but it was cut for pacing issues. His screams can be heard in the background. A lot of endings were storyboarded but never filmed: Malcolm and the others make it to the worker camp, and see a helicopter in the distance, until a Pteranodon attacks the helicopter, until Malcolm kills the pterosaur with a flare gun. Another alternative ending had Malcolm and the others jump off a cliff to escape the raptors, where the dinosaurs die after jumping off the cliff. Luckily, they had backpacks with hand gliders inside them. They get attacked by Pteranodons and that Roland was going to die a hero's death as he save Sarah from the pterosaurs. They fly back to the mainland.
@@Arashi257 There have been rumors that the crew of The Venture were killed by a pack of raptors off screen as the raptors snuck aboard the ship in the cargo hold, and when the Rex heard the ruckus, he woke up and the tore the place apart, killing some of the crew members. It's possible that the Rex ate some of raptors, which explains why there's no evidence of their existence.
the marriage scene is either incorrect of an alternative to another deleted scene in which ian talks to kelly about marrying sarah before she enters the tent to go to sleep. also there was another ending (or at least a continuation of one of the other endings) for ludlow/roland. Ludlow and roland were supposed to come upon the rex (roland to hunt it and ludlow for his own reasons similar to the finished film of having the baby rex). ludlow panics and gets killed while roland doesn't get his prize at all but does survive after rescuing ian and kelly from the pteranodons.
the raptor rumor came from a post on the movies IMDB trivia page that was posted many years ago. but there is no proof such a scene ever existed. its not in any version of the script (which you can read online), nor in any of BTS of the film. assuming it wasn't made up whole-cloth its likely a misinterpretation of a scene from the first book that was cut for the movie. in the original first book one of the reasons grant and the kids are rushing to get back is because the kid spot the boat leaving the dock and see raptors climbing aboard. So they try to get back to tell the boat to turn around. in the movie its supposed to be that the rex escaped and killed everyone, except for one guy that lived just long enough to die holding the button to close the cargo bay doors. its presumed the hand in the wheelhouse was a guy getting grabbed before he could get all the way in, managed to grab the wheel but was yanked out so hard his hand was ripped off.
@@RaptorNX01 it was a reference to well-known concept art of a raptor in a flooded hallway staring down a human with a flashlight. it was assumed to be the boat and not say the worker's village ( which occurred in a storm in the concept art). you can glimpse it in a full page spread in the making of book or I suppose online.
Absolute pleasure to watch Ari & Denise react to this excellent sequel, your passion, excitement & enjoyment for movies shines in every reaction you do. My favourite of the franchise, I remember seeing this opening weekend in England & the 2 T - Rex sequence the audience was on tenterhooks. This channel is a wonderful tonic & a great pick me up.
I grew up with these movies and my son got so into dinosaurs after watching them for the first time when he was little (I personally remember at his age having nightmares about T-Rex's walking outside my house and looking through my windows for me thanks to this movie, lol). We played the Lego Jurassic World game together which was really cute and cool after watching all the movies, you should try, they use recordings and real dialogue from the movies
People hated on this movie but it was a BANGER of a movie. Ot kept you on your seat and like me screaming at the t.v dcreen. It was really good nothing bad i can say about it. Love you two you are my two favourite reactors❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤tractors ❤
Great reaction you two! 😊 Love seeing Jeff Goldblum headlining this movie. And Julianne Moore is a great addition to the cast. I keep forgetting that Vince Vaughan is in this one. LOL! The young actress that plays Ian Malcolm's daughter in this movie is great. And I loved the cameo appearances by the two kids from the first movie in the beginning when Malcolm visits Hammond. Something that I had forgotten to mention in the comments for the first movie, is that in the book the character of Ian Malcolm was supposed to have died from his injuries. Really glad they didn't take that route for the movies. He's one of my favorite characters in the whole Park/World series. Up next is "Jurassic Park 3". Looking forward to the next reaction. 😊
The first three movies were all basically the original Jurassic Park book by Michael Crichton (must read). Love love love your reactions always! Having said that, geeeet iiiit!
This film is my absolute favorite, i love the darker themes and tone of this movie and adore seeing others view it and enjoy. Also the music is absolutely top tier and more malcolm is always welcomed.
48:28 That right there! That's *_exactly_* how I reacted the first time I saw the infamous gymnastics scene. I'll never understand all the hate this scene gets. Even to the point of getting compared to the scene with the talking raptor saying _'Allan!'_ in JP3. *_I mean, what the hell?!!!_*
Something I've only just noticed. towards the end of the film is when John Hammond ( Richard Attenborough ) was speaking about the future for dinosaurs . He had the exact cadence, tone of voice and spoke as if it were his Brother giving his opinion. a homage to his Brother. A nice touch I missed when I saw it years ago..
It's always fun seeing people react to the JP franchise! TLW in particular is my favorite of them all. I just want to add some fun context to some scenes that we only get to see on photos taken from set or script notes. 1- Baby rex's broken leg was actually caused by a drunken Ludlow, which you can see him carrying around a liqor flask, who stumbled and fell on top of the baby´s leg while having a conversation with Roland. This makes the last scene of the baby getting revenge on Ludlow even better. 2- The flying car landing close to Lando & Ajay was caused by Nick's sabotage mission. Before we see Nick & Sarah cutting the dinos free, we can see Nick cutting gas lines of many vehicles causing a pool of gasoline. When Dinos stormed the camp and fire started that is why we can see explosions start to happen, sending a vehicle on fire up in the air. 3- Dieter's death. Throughout his escaping Compys sequence you can see him get progressively erratic & exhausted. It turns out, in the books, Compys have a sedative saliva that causes numbing of the body. Dieter gets bitten multiple times in multiple ocassions, so by the time Dieter tries to climb that log he was barelyu capable of moving so he was an easy meal for the compys.
I remember hearing that in this movie, there was a scene were a guy from Japan said "we left Japan to get away from this" when the trex rampages, but I couldn't find it.
the scenes of the TRex stomping around San Diego (except that it was my home town), was an actual nightmare of mine when i was a kid... in the 1970's, many years before this was released!
Another behind the scenes tidbit... The 'practical' part of the crew trying to ascend the trailer as it hangs over the "cliff"... That was actually shot on outside of the Universal Studios Parking Garage, just dressed to look like a cliff.. They were only 10 or so feet over large padding in case they fell. LOVE practical work.
Damn. I love this franchise, it’s number 1 for me. I’ve seen these movies more times than I can count. I’ve never thought about how everything Ian said in the first film literally played out word for word “stepping on the shoulders of geniuses”. Awesome observation.
The Lost World: Jurassic Park and the original are my favorite movies in the franchise. The replayability with them is insane. 😊 Dr. Ian Malcolm deserves to take his rightful place as THE protagonist. Loved Julianne Moore's performance as Dr. Sarah Harding. Her chemistry with Dr. Malcolm was nice to witness. The horror elements and the action sequences in The Lost World beat those of even the original. And that was when the dinos were menacing and wild.
the sound effects like the cracking glass all ae done so well to intensify the suspense.. love sharing your reactions and look forward to the rest of series... even though people are very critical of some I enjoyed them all and was totally entertained
The guy with the glasses that gets eaten by Rexy is actually David Koepp. Screenwriter of both Jurassic Park and The Lost World. Currently there's a sequel to Jurassic World Dominion in the works with another script penned by Koepp. That might ensure a certain quality storywise as producers and cast members are praising it in high notes.
The sound design in this movie is phenomenal. John Williams's score (Which you don't hear for about 5 to 7 minutes until Sarah Harding - Julianne Moore falls onto the glass) is immediately menacing. And it goes right back into percussive. I personally love the upright bells when both T-Rex's reappear. I saw this in the theater and no one said a word. I think we were all in shock.
Something I should point out is that the male T-Rex has green colored skin while the female has brown colored skin. Also, the raptors in this movie have tiger colors
Love this movie and that scene with the trees swaying like grass while Eddie and Kelly watch still gives me goosebumps. Also, if you guys notice the continuity in that scene, Ian immediately puts his JP1 experience to use by turning off the light so the parents don’t see them. The Buck T-Rex is tied with Rexy as my favorite T-Rex in the franchise. Here’s some scary facts about T-Rex: - they have a powerful sense of sight and they could spot you from 3-4 miles out like a bird of prey - they have a bite force of 12,800 lbs. (6.8 tons) and is the most powerful bite of any land animal - they had padding on their feet like elephants and tigers that allow them to sneak up on their prey even though they’re huge - they’re the largest predatory dinosaur ever (weight wise)
This is one of the great sequels in film history imo. I know you guys are gonna do JP3 next, but I'm really hoping for either Pearl Harbor or Armageddon soon!
This is, to me, one of John Williams coolest scores. The percussion, the urgency behind so much of it, and the ominous yet adventurous tone of the main theme is just brilliant.
I enjoyed this one (the movie), not as much as the first, but enjoyed it. The next one has it's issues, but I hope you continue on with them all as #4 (World) is awesome! Great reaction!
I think this sequel is a little underrated just for not being as good as the original, but I do like how it expands on the themes from the first movie about how humanity acts so irresponsibly towards nature and puts more focus on the ecology on the island.
I am so glad to support you guys on Patreon-my pleasure. Your reactions are so much fun, feels like I'm watching with friends. Your commentary also adds so much and I appreciate you both discussing what you have watched at the end.
YEEEEESSSS!!!! ah i've defended this movie all my life!! it's my favorite of all the Jurassic films. i love the corporate aspect mixed with the wilderness of the island, this movie woke up in me a HUGE love for forests and rivers as a kid, the soundtrack..... UGH, WILLIAMS MY GOD!!!!, every, and i mean it, every track SLAPS, i memorized the soundtrack as a kid as well, my parents hated me for blasting it EVERYWHERE. also, i love how dark and dangerous this film feels like, i love that almost the whole film is in the dark, and yet everything is perfectly visible, it's just soooo goood. i also love the performances, i like how they added so many layers to Malcolm, and i also love the way they showed that there's actually worse ways to deal with what Hammond created, so much so that, even though a lot of people argue that Hammond was the last film's villain, here, Ludlow IS the actual villain, and gets his comeuppance by baby rex as deserved!!. hell of a movie, and i will continue to love it ^~^ it also spawned so many awesome things apart from the film. so many great games like The Lost World and Jurassic Park Warpath for PS1, AND introduced Michael Giacchino as composer for those games for the first time, WHICH, would later become the main composer of the World trilogy, AND even have him reuse themes from the games as a nod to his past. so much happened thanks to this film :D edit: also i quote this movie sooo much, especially: "oh yeah, ooooh ahh, that's how it always starts, but then later there's running and uh, screaming..." and "it's so important for your future that you do not finish that sentence" also 25:30 THAT is my favorite scene... so much happening there. Eddie and Kelly look surprised or scared, either by the size of whatever that was or how loud it was, or just by curiosity. meanwhile, Ian is us.... he looks back slowly, his eyes widen, and THEN he gets nervous and shaky, because just like us, we know...... we know what that roar means..... edit 2: also, also.... in the spanish dub, when they jokingly ask Eddie for burgers, they added Eddie saying "payasos" when he turns around 🤣 i also quote it all the time 🤣
You have become my favorite channel for movie reactions. Knowledgeable without being pretentious, long enough to enjoy, you obviously enjoy what you're doing!
This movie held a special place in my heart. I was 8 or 9 when the movie came out and the Lost World merchandise was EVERYWHERE 😂 It's like a global celebration. Every major snack brands had Jurassic Park thingies in them. I collected a stack of Lost World trading cards I got from Cheetos or something 😂😂😂 90s were awesome, bro.
16:28 Basically Sarahs Best moment 😂 20:23 This moment always let me feel tears in my eyes 28:37 Creepy with the silent and just rain Getting lost in the woods is scary but getting lost in the woods on a Island with Dinosaurs is differently scary! 42:47 This is a moment where you as viewer also try to be silent! Robert Bakker: Scared by a Tiny snake on a Island full of dangerous Dinosaurs AJ: "Don´t go into the long Grass!" Also AJ: Goes in the long grass 51:35 It´s so a good creepy scene! I love the fact that they Used a Model Ship for the smashing the dock scene (You can see at the Limousine). I still don´t know how Buck ate the Crew in the Steering room! 56:34 Fun Fact: That´s David Koepp, the Script Writer of JP and TLW, playing the "Unlucky Bastard"! 59:55 Out of all Pteranodon Designs in the franchise, this is the Most realistic one!
I see a lot of dramatic situational what if's strung together the best they could and called it a narrative. Seriously - take any of the Island scenes and just remove it. The movie wouldn't suffer at all. They go to the island and bring back 'Kong'. Everything in between is fluff.
YES!!! LOVE THIS MOVIE! At first I didn't like this film because Alan Grant, Sam Neill, didn't make an appearance at all as Neill was too busy on the NBC Merlin Miniseries and the Sci Fi Horror masterpiece EVENT HORIZON. He would later return to the franchise in JURASSIC PARK 3 in 2001 and JURASSIC WORLD 3: DOMINION in 2022.
When I hear deep bumping noises at night, the idea of a dino walking around outside always crosses my mind lol. Same when cross train tracks, too, imagining in BttF Part 3 how the car and train appeared out of nowhere on the tracks haha.
The paleontologist with the In/Gen group, with the long hair and cowboy hat, is based on Dr Robert Bakker, who Tim references in the first movie. Dr Bakker is a friendly rival of JP's paleontology expert, Dr Jack Horner. Alan Grant was partially based on Dr Horner.
Paleontological expert? Aint sure about that one He is a man child who cannot get over the fact that T.rex was a predator and not strictly a scavenger All his documentaries are literal memes in the paleontological community He also married one of his students who is like 30-40 years younger than him
It's been a long time since I watched this movie from start to finish. Mostly I tend to remember the T-Rex in San Diego and Ian's daughter killing a raptor with gymnastics (fun fact: she is the only human to kill a raptor in the entire series). Watching your reaction gave me a renewed appreciation for all the things this movie does well. You two have great sensibilities as critics. You can pull apart movies and discuss their various elements so intelligently, while still being able to appreciate them and genuinely enjoying them. Such a refreshing departure from all those other TH-cam channels that are just devoted to ripping movies apart.
RIP to Eddie. Even surrounded by angry T-rex parents, he was still keeping his foot on the gas trying to save the others
Underrated character, in this series they are a lot of stupid characters, than generally end dying, here Eddie was not stupid, he save the three of them and was brutally eaten
He had the most undeserving death 😞😞
@@mr.t-rex3113 Yeah, was a sad death,
Out of all the movies, this death is the most heartbreaking. Next would be Samuel L Jackson.
and the crazy thing is that he didn't need to do that.
"Eddie... is there any way to reach the trailers?"
@@stephencivic1989That was a decision made by Crichton himself.
The first Jurassic Park has themes of creation, this one has themes of parenting. It’s cool how it follows on.
Agreed! Love how they were able to weave those themes here. It was a nice direction to take for the follow up 😄
I never thought about it that way! How insightful!
It tracks because Jurassic Park 3 theme is destruction...starting the downfall of the series :^)
One of my favorite
The guy who gets eaten by the T-Rex in San Diego was played by screenwriter David Koepp. He was credited as "Unlucky Bastard". He co-wrote the first Jurassic Park and many other movies, and he's writing the new Jurassic Park reboot and Spielberg's new alien movie.
No way!? That’s an awesome cameo. I’d want to get eaten by a T-Rex too! 🤣
Ruined* the screenplay you mean. Just a hunch. There’s a reason no one understands the story of the first movie. It’s not Crichtons writing.
How iconic! Every dinosaur writer's dream: Getting munched by a T-Rex cameo 😂
He would have survived if the door opened inward instead of outward.
@@Renegade2786 Fire codes usually specify that front doors open outward, to prevent jamming during human stampedes.
I maintain the Baby T-Rex is one of the most impressive animatronics ever. It was free-floating, only needing a battery/radio receiver that was hidden in the actor's jacket.
you can actually see the umbilical in the scene where nick is bringing the baby to the operating table but not very obvious.
I’m half convinced that Vince Vaughn was cast in this movie just so Goldblum had someone to stand next to without being 2 feet taller.
Jeff Goldblum just plays as Jeff goldblum
That 2 T-Rex scene was iconic asf
That scene had us at the edge of our seats!
@@OfficialMediaKnights yes 100%😂😂
Such a great sequence in the film!

I think he said 3 kids 🤔
A lot of people hate this film, but I think this feeling comes from an unfair comparison with the first one. The first film is a milestone in the history of cinema, no sequel will come close. If we watch this film as its own product, it is excellent.
Much like Jaws 2.
Same goes for JP3.
Eddie was the real hero of this movie for sacrificing his life to save his friends....we salute you Eddie you great man!!!!🥲😌😇💪👏🙌🙏👍🎉
Agreed he was the goat 🐐
Got ripped apart like the goat in the first one too 😂
The trailer sequence with the Rexes is phenomenal, easily one of the most nerve-racking and intense moments of the entire Jurassic Park series, and just film in general, from it hanging over the edge, Sarah landing on the window, the glass cracking, Eddie trying to save the group.

He's my favorite character in the movie.
And when they show the movie on tv in USA that scene is in there.
That scene with Roland shows so much character for him. It's not that long either, so no reason to be cut from the theatrical release.
That’s a shame! We enjoyed the different tone. It kind of goes hand in hand narratively with the fact that this time they are out in the wild.
The people who say that have clearly never read the first Jurassic Park book. It is more dark, scary, and gory than this movie. My teenage daughter says I ruined the first movie for her by giving her the book to read. She says it makes the movie look like a kids' film in comparison.
Lol that ain't any reason why most don't like it more
My favourite of all the Jurassic movies!
I just love Jeff Goldblum, I dont care about anything else😂😂😂😂
Having Ian Malcolm as the lead was actually a good decision in our opinion. He brings a different type of presence and charisma. Overall we quite enjoyed the film!

That scene of the dinosaur sticking its head through the tent...that is one of my favorite scenes of all time, it's such a brilliant image.
The Lost World of Jurassic Park is one of the most underrated sequels in movie history. Love this film.

@@Donkeypunch182 it’s a great sequel
My fav out of the the Jurassic franchise and glad y’all enjoyed it💯💯💯💯💯
(src. Making-Of Jurassic Park)
With The Lost World he had some snippits of the orig.
@@jhiieri7812 spielberg also had fay wray visit the set during the t rex attack in the original movie.

"Oh yeah, Oooh! Ahhh! That's how it always starts. Then later there's running and screaming."
Good god, I love this film with a passion! John Williams' soundtrack is as wonderful as the first one. Just make sure you don't listen to the CD while driving. XD
One scene I wished they kept in the film was when the baby rex was captured.
When John tells Ian that Sarah is on the island John says "She came to me."
When Ian meets up with Sarah he asks her "When Hammond called you why didn't you say something to me?" Sarah reply "because you would have stopped me from coming."
Confirming that she never came to Hammond, Hammond called her.
at the same time hammond did not lie. He called her because he knew she was interested because of the rumors and stories.
Especially when he mentioned the team he said " We have a paleontologist" and didn't mention her name.
sileyyeah that's manipulative
That actually proves nothing😊
I always wondered why it went for HIS legs specifically haha
Kind of poetic justice, but not to ruin it: it was really just an opportunity to immobilize him
Fun fact: the compys are actualy venomous, there venom makes you tired and sleepy, and you can barely move your legs, thats why the guy had a difficult time getting up.

A lot of endings were storyboarded but never filmed:
Malcolm and the others make it to the worker camp, and see a helicopter in the distance, until a Pteranodon attacks the helicopter, until Malcolm kills the pterosaur with a flare gun.

My favorite jurrasic park movie, love the darker tone and was my first jurrasic park film to be exact
What I loved about this film was Speilberg used ideas from the first novel and unused props from the 1st film in this film.
Great reaction you two! 😊
Love seeing Jeff Goldblum headlining this movie.
Geeeet iiiiiit! Haha Thank you for watching, we hope you enjoy ❤️😄
This film is my absolute favorite, i love the darker themes and tone of this movie and adore seeing others view it and enjoy. Also the music is absolutely top tier and more malcolm is always welcomed.
Glad you guys continue watching this masterpiece Jurassic world
48:28 That right there!
Something I've only just noticed. towards the end of the film is when John Hammond ( Richard Attenborough )
was speaking about the future for dinosaurs .
Another great movie and reaction, and like the first movie such good music
"It is very important to your future that you don't finish that sentence." 😂
Oooooooooooooo new set up? I love it 😍 can’t wait for JP 3❤
Glad you like it! This move has been nuts but definitely worth it 😄
There are 6 Jurassic films now and The Lost World is still my favorite.
I remember hearing that in this movie, there was a scene were a guy from Japan said "we left Japan to get away from this" when the trex rampages, but I couldn't find it.
I just saw asians running , but I didn't hear them say anything
it was the scene with all the asian actors running. that was the dialogue they were given to say in Japanese. they don't say it in english.
the scenes of the TRex stomping around San Diego (except that it was my home town), was an actual nightmare of mine when i was a kid... in the 1970's, many years before this was released!
The velociraptor scenes are the best in this entire movie in my opinion! 🦖
Watching the enthusiasm you two have for film is a beautiful reminder why we all fell in love with cinema in the first place.
25:35
It's a nightmare when that roar translates to "I'm on the hunt for food." It's a living Hell when that means "WHERE IS MY CHILD?!"
You guys are my favorite movie reactors here on TH-cam. 😁👍
We share a lot of the same sentiments! Glad you enjoyed the film 😄
The parent Rex's indeed went back into the jungle with their child. Those other two you saw were the child's older siblings. Hehe
25:30 that echo t-rex roar is so epic
the sound effects like the cracking glass all ae done so well to intensify the suspense.. love sharing your reactions and look forward to the rest of series... even though people are very critical of some I enjoyed them all and was totally entertained
Here’s some scary facts about T-Rex:
- they have a powerful sense of sight and they could spot you from 3-4 miles out like a bird of prey
- they have a bite force of 12,800 lbs. (6.8 tons) and is the most powerful bite of any land animal
- they had padding on their feet like elephants and tigers that allow them to sneak up on their prey even though they’re huge
- they’re the largest predatory dinosaur ever (weight wise)
Underrated sequel?!
By the looks of it!
That trailer sequence is a masterwork within this movie. Classic Spielberg moment.
Great reaction!
allways trying not to blink, when the woman screams and they switch to jeff yawning.love this..
I can't wait to see this one, I love you guys reactions.
Hope you enjoy! ❤️
YEEEEESSSS!!!!
ah
i've defended this movie all my life!!
it's my favorite of all the Jurassic films.
i love the corporate aspect mixed with the wilderness of the island, this movie woke up in me a HUGE love for forests and rivers as a kid, the soundtrack..... UGH, WILLIAMS MY GOD!!!!, every, and i mean it, every track SLAPS, i memorized the soundtrack as a kid as well, my parents hated me for blasting it EVERYWHERE.
also, i love how dark and dangerous this film feels like, i love that almost the whole film is in the dark, and yet everything is perfectly visible, it's just soooo goood.
i also love the performances, i like how they added so many layers to Malcolm, and i also love the way they showed that there's actually worse ways to deal with what Hammond created, so much so that, even though a lot of people argue that Hammond was the last film's villain, here, Ludlow IS the actual villain, and gets his comeuppance by baby rex as deserved!!.
hell of a movie, and i will continue to love it ^~^
it also spawned so many awesome things apart from the film.
so many great games like The Lost World and Jurassic Park Warpath for PS1, AND introduced Michael Giacchino as composer for those games for the first time, WHICH, would later become the main composer of the World trilogy, AND even have him reuse themes from the games as a nod to his past.
so much happened thanks to this film :D
edit: also i quote this movie sooo much, especially:
"oh yeah, ooooh ahh, that's how it always starts, but then later there's running and uh, screaming..."
and
"it's so important for your future that you do not finish that sentence"
also 25:30
THAT is my favorite scene...
so much happening there.
Eddie and Kelly look surprised or scared, either by the size of whatever that was or how loud it was, or just by curiosity.
meanwhile, Ian is us.... he looks back slowly, his eyes widen, and THEN he gets nervous and shaky, because just like us, we know...... we know what that roar means.....
edit 2: also, also.... in the spanish dub, when they jokingly ask Eddie for burgers, they added Eddie saying "payasos" when he turns around 🤣
i also quote it all the time 🤣
Nature continues to remain undefeated.
At least now we know what REALLY killed Blockbuster Video!
You have become my favorite channel for movie reactions. Knowledgeable without being pretentious, long enough to enjoy, you obviously enjoy what you're doing!
You guys should react to the fly with Jeff Goldblum, its so gross you'd love it, great reaction❤❤❤❤
love the FLY and the chemistry between Jeff and Gena Davis is great ..they are fun together in earth girls are easy
@@marezesim8119 yes
This movie held a special place in my heart. I was 8 or 9 when the movie came out and the Lost World merchandise was EVERYWHERE 😂 It's like a global celebration. Every major snack brands had Jurassic Park thingies in them. I collected a stack of Lost World trading cards I got from Cheetos or something 😂😂😂 90s were awesome, bro.
After all this time i just find out there's extra scenes to this movie one right after the little girl with the sandwich scene
16:28 Basically Sarahs Best moment 😂
20:23 This moment always let me feel tears in my eyes
28:37 Creepy with the silent and just rain
Getting lost in the woods is scary but getting lost in the woods on a Island with Dinosaurs is differently scary!
42:47 This is a moment where you as viewer also try to be silent!
Robert Bakker: Scared by a Tiny snake on a Island full of dangerous Dinosaurs
AJ: "Don´t go into the long Grass!" Also AJ: Goes in the long grass
51:35 It´s so a good creepy scene!
This movie started the trope in JURRASIC movies of giving the most brutal deaths to people that didnt deserve it..
I see a lot of dramatic situational what if's strung together the best they could and called it a narrative. Seriously - take any of the Island scenes and just remove it. The movie wouldn't suffer at all. They go to the island and bring back 'Kong'. Everything in between is fluff.
To be fair, they say later in the film she's still alive.
One of John Williams' best and no conventional scores. Chef's kiss.
The name of the paleontologist is Robert Burke.
Paleontological expert?
Aint sure about that one
He is a man child who cannot get over the fact that T.rex was a predator and not strictly a scavenger
All his documentaries are literal memes in the paleontological community
He also married one of his students who is like 30-40 years younger than him
It's been a long time since I watched this movie from start to finish. Such a refreshing departure from all those other TH-cam channels that are just devoted to ripping movies apart.
cant get enough of the both of you these days! Im so happy to get a video nearly every day! thank you so much for your content and keep on having fun!
It warms our hearts to see you guys enjoy these so much. Thank you for letting us know ❤️ You guys are the best.
I actually forgot how much i enjoyed seeing this one as a kid. I remembered the first one, but i had some foggy memory of this one, well done!
