@@d3l3tes00n I did not watch it on purpose, I had to watch the third movie on a long bus trip. And I didnt like it, especially because Rachel wasnt in it, didnt like the chemistry with the new Eve and Brendan
Rachel Weisz is literally the cutest thing ever in this movie. The way she looks around with those curious, wide eyes and just doesn't let anything stop her just cause she's a woman, idk, it was just a pleasure to watch her in this role. Her and Brendan Fraser were a perfect match.
They literally don't make movies like this anymore. Fun, action comedies that aren't meant to be part of some larger franchise or multiverse. Just a fun project for entertainment. And it's genuinely good too! It's a sincerely well-made great classic movie. Really enjoyed this
You know, this definitely sent us down that late 90s, early 2000s nostalgia. This movie just nailed it all - the humor, the action, the horror and romance! What a genuinely good time this was!
Stephen Sommers made a movie just like that the year before. I highly suggest to watch Deep Rising! It's the exact same vibe with an horror/comedy and sarcastic quick witted badass main character. It massively flopped on release due to bad reviews at the time and it being released at the same time as Titanic.
Being born after the original Indiana Jones Trilogy, Rick O'Connell was the swashbuckling adventure hero that I (and MANY others) grew up with! Rachel Weisz and Brendan Fraser were perfect in these roles. Thank you for starting this awesomely nostalgic journey!!
Yeeesss!! He was amazing in this, and so was Rachel Weisz! Their chemistry too, was just stunning! Thank you so much for joining us on this journey! See you real soon for the sequel!
Indeed! If only we could have had Brendan and Johnny Depp buckling some swashes in an adventure movie together in their prime! How magnificent would that have been?

Jonathan is such a brilliant character. On the surface he's just comic relief, but if you pay any attention to him you come to realize he's a survivor of world war one with big ass trauma who's pretty clever in his own right and super sweet and supportive of his sister.
Speaks and understands written Egyptian, and his initial conversation with Evie in the museum about envying the dead and sometimes wishes he could join them definitely shows a dark shadow over him. My favorite part is the deadpan delivery of "so have I" during the Mexican standoff with the Americans after O'connell States he's been in worse situations. Going by the likelihood of Jonathan being a veteran and probably serving on the western front, a mild romp with the undead is bound to have been a holiday by comparision. 😂
I didn’t even think about that, the fact he’s literally a veteran, is going through some things, but manages to still step up and keep a smile on his face for his sister! What an amazing piece of backstory. Like he has his quirks and he does some pretty selfish things, but all that can be just one big coping mechanism.
And also his reaction to having the scarab dug out of his arm…maybe he had a bullet at one point or saw others having them taken out and it stuck with him. His way of rationalizing Evie’s death in the second one and his ability to stay calm and rational during that for his nephew.
Great movie. While Brendan, The Mummy and Weisz are obviously the stars of the show it's the supporting cast that truly makes it great for me like almost every character seems to serve a purpose and got some kind of uniqueness to them. The movie would feel hollow without Jonathan, Beni, The Americans, Winston, The protectors, Bug guy etc all got excellent and rememberale moments.
I love that the Mummy speaks so uncertainly when he says, Anaks-un-amun? when looking at Evie - nice touch by the film makers.. because he took the eyes of a guy than NEEDED GLASSES.
31:56 throwing a chair... that perfectly expresses and encapsulates all the disgust and frustration that Benny elicited from Fraser's character for the entire first part of the movie. and it's simply a badass move in general.
I like to think that the scarabs were not always voracious like we see throughout the movie. Scarabs are normally carrion feeders and aren't able to take down living prey, but after being locked in the sarcophagus with no other food source, they were forced to consume Imhotep's living body. Much like Dracula's bats, Imhotep's curse bound the scarabs to his spirit, turning them into the terrifying scourge that we see.
@@Pomni3477 They didn't eat Imhotep right off the bat. He was only screaming because he was completely wrapped up and didn't know what was happening. It took some time for them to get hungry enough to chew through the wrappings and eat him.
I noticed that not everything was translated in subtitles when y’all were watching. When Beni starts speaking in Hebrew to the mummy, the mummy recognizes the language and says “The language of the slaves. I may have use for you. Where are the other jars?” It’s hard to understand that part without the translations.
Yes. I always thought this part was especially clever. The Egyptian Pharaohs enslaved the Hebrew (Jewish) nation as slaves (even forcing them to build the pyramids). So....to an Egyptian high priest, like Imohtep, he would DEFINITELY recognize the Star of David, as the Jewish religious symbol of the people HE KNEW as slaves. Also, since he didnt realize the Egyptian Empire fell 2000 years ago, he'd assume the Hebrews are still enslaved.
I was hoping someone else noticed that. I don't know why the captions wouldn't show that, since it was in the original movie that way. Why would the original captions have been removed?
It’s a problem with the streaming version of it. Apparently due to a clause they cannot alter whichever version they got sent by the studio. And that includes unfortunately for us adding subtitles. So basically the studio forgot to send the streaming sites the parts that had the original captions.
Man this movie is just such a fun late 90s romp. My introduction to both Brendan Frasier and Rachel Weisz as a kid. Genuinely they have great chemistry in this movie. This movie in general seemed like it would have been fun to make. Also the scarabs have forever been a fear of mine.
Those scarabs are a thing of nightmares! And we absolutely agree! Seeing the chemistry, where it’s set and the sequences we can imagine they had a blast filming this because it definitely came across on screen!
Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys and save the world. Literally the plot in 99% of every movie. Glad you liked this one. Great reactions.
The reason why Eve says the bugs ate him slowly is because this is part of the curse, the body is prepared in such a way that the bugs will not eat it all at once like they did with the other guys. The curse itself is explained in the novel, essentially it creates a perverse cycle of life and death in which the victim, desperate for sustenance, will eat the bugs that are eating him, while the bugs will continue living off of him, kind of like a perpetual recycling of flesh. This is the reason he's so "juicy", it took hundreds of years for him to die under the curse, and this is also why upon being freed he gains all these powers, it's a counterbalance to the curse.
Couldn't agree more! This sequel is exactly what it should be! An expansion on what worked in the first while also giving us a different dynamic. Absolutely loved it!
Streaming services seem to have a strangely-hard time with subtitles in older movies. For example, when Beni first meets the Mummy, the caption here just says "ancient Egyptian", while the original film translated it to English and showed the Mummy to be accepting Beni's service because he knows Hebrew. Hebrew is "the language of the slaves" to the Mummy, so he assumes Beni might also be a capable assistant. This happens in a lot of movies, and it often wrecks plot-points. Faults in cheap automated captioning services, maybe? It's surprisingly negligent for such large firms.
Brendan really got strangled by that noose, and it took everyone several additional seconds to realize that he wasn't just acting. He was unconscious when the crew finally freed him, but otherwise unharmed, thank goodness. The cool part is that his real strangulation appears in the movie. I'm sure you can tell when it happens.
Such a fun movie! It doesn't try to be anything deep, or, profound. It doesn't try to be dark & brooding, like everything tries to these days. It's as fun, and, entertaining as it was 24 years ago.
No, no no no. Please dont say that. Is this really 24 years old?? I'm 22 years old and I grew up watching this, I Really didn't think it was that flipping old. Jeez..
Absolutely. I also liked how they made the Mummy have LOVE as his motivation. When he has to watch his girl die TWICE from the shadows, you feel really bad for him.
Arnold Vosloo was my gay awakening as a little kid, he was my first big crush! I used to rewatch these two movies over and over crushing on him and trying to learn ancient Egyptian lmao
The unspoken detail that I've always loved is the reason why Imhotep has the girls confused after he is resurrected. He took the eyes of the man with glasses. Because of this, Imhotep had poor vision, thus causing the confusion.
My family and I can watch this movie anywhere, any time! It's a perfect mix of action, comedy and horror, and the cast is just A+ For sure my comfort movie, and the sequel is definitely worth a watch as well
This is definitely comfort movie material! It has such high rewatchability value - we loved this movie and can't wait to watch the second one! Thanks so much for your support!
Ah what a good film. I wish I could watch it for the first time again. Blast from the Past and Bedazzled were two of Brendan's other great hits from that era. Absolutely recommended for react.
Ahhh man same here!!! Those are awesome recommendations, I loooved Encino Man that was my childhood right there 😂 Will definitely add those to the list!
keep in mind Brendan Fraser was a stuntman before he was a leading man- does all his own stunts here & in pretty much every movie he leads. After a couple years the poor guy was pretty much beat to pulp.
Yes!!! What an incredible talent he was and still is! The kind of pressure he was put through, no wonder he suffered so many physical ailments. We are so excited that we have him back! So talented and charismatic!
This was the swan song of the adventure comedy films of the 20th century. It was made right at the edge before everything became multi-film franchises. The Mummy was just a fun, swashbuckling adventure film that put you in a feel-good mood. Modern cinema doesn't have any heart left. It's all reboots and remakes pushing "The Message" at the expense of entertainment value.
I remember when I was a kid I had a DVD with the Egyptians parts subtitled. The reason why Benny speaking in Hebrew works is bc Imhotep acknowledges the language as the “slaves tongue” hence why he assumes Benny to be a servant and gives him gold.
This is one of my all time favorite movies. I was addicted to it when I was a kid and also made me have a huge crush on Brendan and Rachel hahaha the whole movie is amazing, the cast did a great job, the dynamic between them was awesome. Really a 90's gem.
Great Reaction....I remember when the movie released and dubbed in regional language of my small home town in India people thronged to watch this movie which eventually ran more than 100 days in single screen. That's how people loved and enjoyed this film.
Wooow that is incredible! It must have been such a great experience to see this in theatres, but we're glad we finally did get to watch it! It was such a great time!
13:35-13:43 You're correct! His name is Oded Fehr. He plays Ardeth Bay in "The Mummy (1999 film)' and "The Mummy Returns" and plays Carlos Olivera in the live-action Resident Evil film series. He's still among my top 10 favorite actors. This still remains as my #1 favorite mummy movie, especially since it started my love for Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, Arnold Vosloo, and Oded Fehr.
We did a poll and many of you wanted us to watch this! And now we know why! The Mummy is a fantastic adventure movie filled with humor and elements of horror that made this a truly fun experience! idk if u guys turned on the subtitle for when Imhotep met benny for first time with the whole religions part. But the Star of David is for the Jewish people and Egyptian use Jewish Slaves in ancient time. so the translation would have told you that Imhotep recognized Hebrew and want to use Benny to help him as a servant.
The mummy is such an endless classic! Such a good movie. Pretty much Tomb Raider + indiana Jones + egyption myth. Used to watch this with my Dad all the time ❤.
Right?! Exactly what you said, it's the perfect combination of all those! This movie really was such a joy to watch and we can't wait to watch the second one! You must have had a great time watching this with your dad! Thank you so much for your support!
Him saying he hates bugs isn't Chechov's gun, it's just foreshadowing. Showing a weapon (or Maguffin) in the opening, and having it turn up and be used in the final frames is a Chechov's gun. 😅
Brendan as Rick was my first celebrity crush! The Mummy also kind of introduced me into horror movies in a way that they didn't have to necessarily scare me to death but could be spine-chilling yet fun and entertaining. One of my top 3 movies of all time, for sure.
You missed the Curators comment as to why Imothep is afraid of cats. He commented that "Cats are guardians of the Underworld. He will fear them until he is fully regenerated."
This is one of my favorite movies of all time!! I was a teenager at the time and I have a lot of great memories and had the VHS tapes. Great reaction, new follower.
I never realized just how much of the story is lost without the subtitles for the Ancient Egyptian. I watched this when it came out in the theatre and many times on TV where they kept the translation for those parts as well so I kind of know them by heart. It looks like Netflix couldn't be bothered to keep them and that's sad because of not only the lost story but also because Anck-su-namun had a great line ("My body is no longer his temple" right before stabbing herself) and Imhotep's last line ("Death is only the beginning").
Watching this video made ,me realize I've seen this movie so many times from such a young age that I completely forgot that it's actually pretty scary the first time you watch it! As an adult it's a comfort movie, a comedy, something I leave playing as I go to sleep haha but it was originally quite the thrilling adventure film! Takes me back, glad you guys enjoyed it and appreciated it, it's near and dear to its fans' hearts.
Brandon fraser was literally my hero growing up. My childhood favorite actor because of these movies. I’m so glad he’s getting back into acting after what he went through
That's what I like about Brendan Fraser's character as he does not have surviving issues he's actually very smart very brave he actually looks at the issue and comes up with solutions on the fly it's kind of nice to see characters that actually have their own agency and actually save the day on their own and through their actions
I think the Evy's boss when says '' My girl , when Ramsses destroyed Syria , that was an accident! '', I think he refers to the Battle of Kadesh ? Ramesses II , May 1274 B.C at the borders of Kadesh , at Orontes river against Muwatalli II and his Canaanites.
I was such a baby (mentally speaking...) when I saw this movie 20 years ago. I hadn't noticed how funny it is. It's so self-parodic. I had a great time rewatching it 😄
Thank you for allowing me to watch movies with you in this special way. This old grandfather really enjoyed seeing your reaction to it. I laughed so hard! :)
This was one of my favorite reaction videos to The Mummy!!! Some youtubers don't pay enough attention it and miss details that you guys picked up on and they constantly criticize certain things about it being an early 2000s movie instead of just sitting back and having fun. This was such a joy to watch and I'm so glad you guys liked the movie!
It might be a strange suggestion, but I think that you would both probably enjoy a movie called "the league of extraordinary gentlemen", and despite the bad reviews and such I think that the two of you would enjoy the craftsmanship of the entire movie behind it a lot.
28:22 Beni is the penultimate survivalist opportunist. I always loved his necklaces, whoever came up with the prop choice for his character that way was top notch. Edit: I changed my mind: Jonathan is the penultimate opportunist survivor, in that he actually survives.
The second one, Return of The Mummy, is great too. The 3rd one, Tomb of the Golden Emperor, can be fun but it doesn't have the same chemistry because they had to replace Rachel Weiss as Evie. She wasn't available because she had just had a baby and didn't want to be away from him for the extended filming time on location. No on the ride. I will never go on that thing again. Once was enough.
Great to hear the second was is a good time! It’s a shame they couldn’t lock her in for the third one. But her reasoning makes sense! Also yeah…we get it. That ride can be intense 😂
Evie (Rachel Weisz) had a definite "I Love Lucy" quality about her. I wish that movies like this were still being made. Creative, great acting, and great cinematography. Again, awesome reaction!
The creature was not allergic to cats. Cats are represented as the Goddess Bastet in ancient Egypt, warrior Goddess of the Sun. It was originally lioness but later, it had become a cat - most likely because its role in protecting grain from mice and rats. Bastet is the protector of the Sun God, Ra and since it is closely associated with the Sun, the creature which delves in the dark is very fearful of it.
Fun fact. The scene where she's in a nightgown had to be touched up with CGI because of a detail they missed until after everything was already filmed. Actually it was *two* details...somehow nobody noticed just how sheer the gown was until it was too late. So they had to go back and pain over those two particular details frame by frame.
I had the VHS version of these when I was a kid, and I remember them showing what is was Imhotep said when Beni started speaking in Hebrew(28:29) . It was shown in stylized subtitles, and it was something along the lines of "The language of the slaves. You may be of use to me. And the rewards... will be great."
THIS!!! It's so wonderful to see a romance subplot where the male lead actually pays attention to the female lead, her passions and takes her skills seriously without trying to change her/fix her. Also there is a wonderful mutual respect that begins to grow as they get to know each other! It made watching this movie so much more enjoyable! Badly handled love subplots definitely take away from a movie, even when it's great!
There's no such thing as toxic masculinity. It's a term made up by leftists to demonize men and further degrade the family unit. Breaking up the family unit is straight out of the communist playbook.
I love a movie that's just made to be fun. Movies can be deep art and change the way you see the world but for every serious film, there should be one like this.
So much childhood memory associated with The Mummy 🥰 The first Hollywood blockbuster I watched in theater & freaking loved d adventure/comedy/horror epic. Still one of my favorite movies of all time, it'd always have a special place in my adventurous heart. And who doesn't love Brendan Fraser, he is a beloved icon, a superstar of this genre & his chemistry with stunning Rachel Weiz is as iconic as this gem of a movie ❣
This is a perfect movie. Brendan Fraser is so likeable in that Han Solo/Indiana Jones kind of way, the chemistry between him and and Rachel Weisz is off the charts, the supporters like John Hannah and Kevin J. O'Connor are great, and the script is banger. And it's so well made! Bit of trivia: the character Ardeth Bay (leader of the Medjai warriors all in black) was originally supposed to be completely covered in tattoos. Whey they cast Oded Fehr, the director Stephen Sommers realised they could not conceal someone so handsome under all that. So his tatts got downgraded to what we see.
You guys make a good duo reacting, really enjoyed it! Your takes were spot on and you even picked up a few inconsistencies in the script. Did the movie justice. Mummy is one of my favorites, they don't make them like this anymore
I love your reactions... For some reason I needed to smile tonight, and or even laugh a lil to break this mood i was in.... Watched this and laughed so hard that it dropped me into a great mood. Thank You The Media Knights for yet another great reaction.
I have never seen one of yours that just came out. I'm stoked, but also sad I can't now watch you react to the second one! You two watching Rick and Evelyn was adorable!
It’s wonderful listening to film fans who notice all the details of set, score and cinematography. Please consider reviewing Atonement 2007, it’s such a beautiful film and I know you would both appreciate the craft that went into it. Love and hugs from Nova Scotia 🤗
33:33- In case you both are wondering why Imhotep decayed when he kissed Evy, it was because Imhotep was still undead at that point and the curse was motivating him to finish killing everyone who opened the chest. That's why Beni stopped Burns (the guy with glasses who was first sucked dry by Imhotep) from touching Imhotep earlier.
Not sure why they removed the original English subtitles when Imotep spoke at the beginning, but the reason he spared Benny's life was that Benny spoke Hebrew (when he took out the Star of David), and Imotep said "The language of the slaves" (cause the Hebrews were slaves and built the pyramids around the time he was still alive), and Imotep also said "I might have some use for you". Was always a favourite scene of mine. Also, great reaction, thanks guys.
That's a great detail! Thank you for keeping us in the loop. We understood the interaction through context but it's nice to know exactly what went down. Thank you so much for watching this with us!
I love this movie so much, it still holds up and even beats some modern releases. We went to see it in our local cinema for its 25th anniversary and it was fantastic on a big screen, I'm glad I got to experience that
We hope you enjoy the reaction! Absolutely agree! It truly is such a fun time and it brings that big adventure that’s perfect for the summer. We thoroughly enjoyed the story and performances 😃
You both are so great! Unlike other reviewers, you get all the jokes, you get all the comedy! Thanks for the terrific review. It was fun and I loved seeing how you reacted to this terrific movie. In Latam the subs for the moment when Inmotep recognized the Ancient Hebrew said something like - the tounge of the slaves??? Then prephaps you can help me, help me and your rewards would be "incredible".
One of the most fun adventure films ever made. Great cast, fun script, and solid directing. BTW, Beni was played by Kevin O'Connor. Not a long filmography but a very good actor, who even had a run on TV's Chicago PD as the station captain. The next movie is a must-see with good action, but forgive it some early CGI attempts. Glad you had fun.
Absolutely agreed!! O'Connor was fantastic in this, what a character actor! We're so hyped for the sequel and are already sure we're gonna love it! Thanks so much for the comment!
A very serious fact: Brendan Fraser was actually choking at 8:30. He was wearing a safety harness under the clothes, and the rope was just for the scene, but it got tight when he dropped, so he was hanging for dear life, literally.
It’s crazy how well this movie holds up, the film is crisp and bright and clean and the set design is so well lit and detailed, apart from the dialogue (which I love, 90s and early 2000s corny/comedy dialogue is my favorite) and the CG (which is still great for 99) if you told me this was produced in say 2018 I’d believe you. I know his body has been through a lot but I would love to see Brendan and Rachel come back for one last foray into the Mummy Franchise. Can’t wait for your reaction to TMR!
Absolutely agreed!! There is just a certain charm to 90s and 2000s humor, it may be corny but it is earnest and entertaining as hell! Gaaahh can you imagine if we get them back one last time?! With today's effects?! That would ba amazingggg!
Did you guys figure out that the mummy's' plagues were the same plagues from the old testament when the pharoah angered God? 1. Locusts 2. Rain of fire or frogs 3. Gadflies or Horseflies, (when he opened his mouth wide) 4. Boils 5. Three days of darkness Etc.
I wish this version had the subtitles for when Imhotep speaks... I'm surprised it doesn't, because they're part of the actual movie... didn't realize a version without them Did exist. You're missing so much context haha.
Right!? It was honestly a wtf once we learned the original version had translated everything Imhotep said! Universal never sent the version with the original subtitles to streaming services! Smart fellows huh!
I LOVE The Mummy franchise!! The movies are amazing and I love all of them, the second is my favorite though. Thanks for the reaction, I had fun watching you.
Ah, the movie of my childhood! We had a VHS cassette with this film and used to watch it with my parents from time to time. At first, this movie was like a horror to me, but, having grown up, i fell in love with it! Special effects, actors' performance, Rachel Weisz (my first crush, LOL), the plot, the cinematography, comedy elements mixed with action, an overall design and aesthetics of this movie are what make it look unique even nowadays!
Ahhh the good old VHS/Blockbuster days!! This movie truly is a special one - timeless, filled with joy and just always a great time! We're so glad we reacted to it and the sequel too!
I loved watching you watch this! One of my favourite movies still, always makes me laugh. Brendan Frasier is a treasure, and Rachel Weiss is the heart of these movies. ❤
One of my favorite movies as a kid! In the late 80's and early '90's, horror film directors like Wes Craven, John Landis, John Carpenter, Joe Dante, David Cronenberg, Mick Garris, and George Romero were considered for Directing. Stephen Sommers, a huge fan of the original film with Boris Karloff, was hired to direct the project, after his last movie, DEEP RISING bombed at box office. Before Brendan Fraser was cast as Rick O'Connell, Tom Cruise, Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone, Matthew McConaughey, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were considered for the role. Cruise would later star in the reboot, which was not well received by Critics or fans. Even Fraser said that it "was a heartless, joyless, soulless remake of the original series." The film was a box office success, making $420 million dollars against a $75-80 million dollar budget.
Whoa these are some interesting facts, thanks so much for sharing! Sommers has a great instinct for adventure, joy and horror all in one! Fraser was an incredible choice, he was fantastic in this movie so casting him was a great decision! This was such a great movie and we will definitely be watching the sequel very soon!
My dad growing up LOVED movies. His dvd collection took up an entire closet in one of the spare bedrooms. EVERY action movie we watched, every marvel movie we watched, I watched these movies many a times and they are always great. Some of the greatest memories are my dad coming home saying there is a new movie coming out and we would drive to the city onnthe weekend an hour away to go watch the movie in the nice movie theater lol. Love yalls channel and perspective on the films, its very interesting to see yall explain the camera, shots, score etc.. Love it keep killin the game💯
I just LOVE Rachel Weisz and Brendan Fraser's on screen chemistry.

I was absolutely in love with her once this movie came out for many years. And by many years I mean I still am.
Even though they made one great sequel (despite bad cgi it was good) and one not so great sequel was not started with intention of a franchise
Yea..I miss these types of movies
Was the multiverse bit added so no one could say everything everywhere all at once? That not part of a franchise
Stephen Sommers made a movie just like that the year before. I highly suggest to watch Deep Rising! It's the exact same vibe with an horror/comedy and sarcastic quick witted badass main character. It massively flopped on release due to bad reviews at the time and it being released at the same time as Titanic.

It’s always almost shocking how good this movie is, it holds up so well
It truly does hold up so well! It has all the qualities that make a movie a timeless classic - just a thoroughly great time!
24 years later and I still haven't worked out which of the leads is more beautiful. Jesus.
Obviously, the correct answer is Oded Fehr
@@xaderalertthis is the correct answer. Fucking GORGEOUS human being.
Man 1999 gave us so many good movies. The Mummy, The Matrix, Galaxy Quest, Austin Powers, Star Wars, Green Mile… the list goes on
What a time to be alive, us 90s kids were lucky!
Galaxy Quest is so underrated!
GALAXY QUEST!!! love that movie
You are absolutely right! Everybody brought their A game and it shows! Great performances and fun scenes made this one such a great time.
Benny's scream when getting chair's was hilarious
I like to think that the scarabs were not always voracious like we see throughout the movie. Scarabs are normally carrion feeders and aren't able to take down living prey, but after being locked in the sarcophagus with no other food source, they were forced to consume Imhotep's living body. Much like Dracula's bats, Imhotep's curse bound the scarabs to his spirit, turning them into the terrifying scourge that we see.
That actually makes a lot of sense :)
Yes, it also explains how they survived for 3000 years... they were also undead.
Yeah because the scarabs were undead insect
BUT they were like this even before the curse so your theory doesn't work
@@Pomni3477 They didn't eat Imhotep right off the bat.
Thanks so much for clarifying that part, we appreciate you!
@@PaperbackWizardMaybe they're watching a bootleg
Great reactions.
if the formula works, don't fuck with it. unfortunately, today's writers have decided to fuck with it.
I can't remember which one but Rick (Brendan) says that in the movie! 1 or 2... IDR🤷🏾♀️😂
Edit: 36:17 - found it😂😂😂😊
@@apple54345 Now it's: The damsel is never in distress. She is all powerful and wins at all times.
It's so boring.
The damsel in distress is now the lead male role lol@@AutomaticDuck300
This movie was literally made as a love letter to the serial plays and radio shows that created those tropes you were talking about.
Sequels are rarely as good or better than the original but the 2nd movie is an exception. Love both movies so much. Really enjoyed your reaction
Couldn't agree more! This sequel is exactly what it should be! An expansion on what worked in the first while also giving us a different dynamic. Absolutely loved it!
not an exception, it is fun but not even close to 1st one and the cgi is really fkn worst ever
Agree 👍
Terminator 2, Child's Play 2, Saw 2, John Wick 2, Desperado, Halloween 2, etc. we have quite a few sequels hold up just as (if not better) than the og
@@arcturus4295 L take
Streaming services seem to have a strangely-hard time with subtitles in older movies.
Jhonatan its the MVP of the movie!
His "Imhotep" move on the zombie crowd was a flawless survival move!
Such a fun movie! It doesn't try to be anything deep, or, profound. It doesn't try to be dark & brooding, like everything tries to these days. It's as fun, and, entertaining as it was 24 years ago.
It really is such a fun time filled with a lot of heart! Gotta love it!
No, no no no. Please dont say that. Is this really 24 years old?? I'm 22 years old and I grew up watching this, I Really didn't think it was that flipping old. Jeez..

I had such a huge crush on the Mummy himself when this came out- i mean whats not to like? Handsome, powerful, & devoted to his girl 😍
He definitely knows how to be a romantic!
Absolutely. I also liked how they made the Mummy have LOVE as his motivation. When he has to watch his girl die TWICE from the shadows, you feel really bad for him.
this movie was filled with eye candy! :)
31:36 - Side note: No she’s no a descendant in the beginning they killed her but if you watch the sequel of Mummy, you’ll understand.
Bedazzled is such a fun movie
keep in mind Brendan Fraser was a stuntman before he was a leading man- does all his own stunts here & in pretty much every movie he leads. After a couple years the poor guy was pretty much beat to pulp.
Yes!!! What an incredible talent he was and still is! The kind of pressure he was put through, no wonder he suffered so many physical ailments. We are so excited that we have him back! So talented and charismatic!
His stunts aren't that impressive
Classic film! Used to be obsessed with this movie when I was a kid! Hope you two like it! 🙏🏽💪
Oh my goodness we LOVED this!!! Such a great 90s and 2000s vibes! We can't wait to react to the second one very soon!
96 year? As me? :D
Yes and he can understand the language Imhotep speaks...a communicator in the modern world.
Becourse he was the highpriest of Seti 1 who actually was the son of Ramses the great, the same Ramses as in the Exodus
This is one of my all time favorite movies. I was addicted to it when I was a kid and also made me have a huge crush on Brendan and Rachel hahaha the whole movie is amazing, the cast did a great job, the dynamic between them was awesome. Really a 90's gem.
It really is a gem! The chemistry is fantastic, performances are on point and the sequences are just so so fun! We're so glad we watched this!

Mi papá ya fallecio hace unos años, asi que cuando le veo, me acuerdo de como la veiamos juntos ♡
This movie is so iconic !!!
The chemistry, the set design, the action and the score !!!

Hands down one of my fav movies of all time! Still holds up even after 20 years!
This movie is awesome! Watched this during my childhood. This late 90s early 2000s were the best for movies! Poor kids of today.
We really enjoyed this movie, it truly brought us back to the best of the late 90s early 2000s times! What an era that was!
Rick is awesome! Also we love horror and the horror vibes in this was just an added plus. The genre blending is perfect!
Takes me back, glad you guys enjoyed it and appreciated it, it's near and dear to its fans' hearts.
it’s funny how I still love this couple to this day, their chemistry in this series of movies was one of the greatest things in history.
you think when the mummy took the first guys eyes he had his poor vision? it would explain why he mistakes Evelyn for Anaksunamun.
Ohhhh! Great theory! I hope that is the case. That would be great attention to detail!
I had a great time rewatching it 😄
It is such a great time! We had a blast and can't wait to tackle the second one. So glad you enjoyed it as well! 😄

Thank you so much for the suggestion! We appreciate all strange recommendations haha always fun to see new things
It's such a fun movie!
I love this movie sooo much. When we have family movie nights it’s in the drawling along with the mummy and the mummy 2. ❤
I am a huge fan of "I Love Lucy"...and I don't see it lol. I love Evie though.
Next "The Mummy Returns" expecting soon from you guys🤩
We’re so glad to see you guys are liking this! We’d gladly do The Mummy Returns 😄
Yes!! It's almost as good if not better! I hope that they watch The Mummy Returns! 👍🏼😁🤞🏼🤞🏼
Fun fact. The scene where she's in a nightgown had to be touched up with CGI because of a detail they missed until after everything was already filmed. Actually it was *two* details...somehow nobody noticed just how sheer the gown was until it was too late. So they had to go back and pain over those two particular details frame by frame.
I remembered being surprised when I first saw that. I think there's another scene similar in a black gown.
So much nostalgia, this was my favorite movie when i was a kid😭❤❤
I laugh everytime Beni and O' Connell start laughing, but I laugh hysterically when Beni is thrown overboard.
Hey, Beni! Looks to me like you're on the wrong side of the RIVER!
Rick is like the epitome of non-toxic masculinity.
I mean, after he stops thinking he's about to get hanged.
@@OfficialMediaKnights Yeah, there's a reason it's one of my favorite movies. I mean, it's a better Indiana Jones film than Crystal Skull was!
Right on, yes! We loved Rick for this...
There's no such thing as toxic masculinity. It's a term made up by leftists to demonize men and further degrade the family unit. Breaking up the family unit is straight out of the communist playbook.
28:27 "the language of a slaves. perhaps you will be useful for me, and the rewards..."
39:21 "go! Wake the others!"
He wouldn't understand "star of David" symbol cause that was years after Imotep
I love a movie that's just made to be fun. Movies can be deep art and change the way you see the world but for every serious film, there should be one like this.
We agree! This was such a fun time. We could just sit back and enjoy
Lots of the old school movies did this. You just need to watch more older movies.
Such a fun rewatchable movie, and yeah Fraser and Weisz were totally adorable screen pairing.
Crazy part is Imhotep was a real Egyptian & was a sort of architect.
Yes! From what we understand Imhotep was an incredibly intelligent man with many skills!

This is the most fun reaction I’ve seen of this movie (and I watched a lot of them). Great job! The Mummy rules! 👊

Dont forget he also played Darryl Hannah's husband in Steel Magnolias. Great movie ya'll should give it a look.
Take a moment to appreciate just how well acted Benny was. Fantastic job!
1. Locusts
2. Rain of fire or frogs
3. Gadflies or Horseflies, (when he opened his mouth wide)
4. Boils
5. Three days of darkness
Etc.
Yes we did catch that reference!! Loved how they visualized those plagues in the movie!
I CAN NEVER GET ENOUGH OF THIE MOVIE, WE NEED A REBOOT WITH THIS WHOLE CAST AGAIN
Even Fraser said that it "was a heartless, joyless, soulless remake of the original series."
The film was a box office success, making $420 million dollars against a $75-80 million dollar budget.
