When I was 14 I was deep down into the Victorious fandom. I was an active Beck and Tori shipper and I was always weirded out by the most hardcore Beck and Jade shippers. When I started watching the show my dad watched it with me and he had a talk with me afterwards. He said, if you ever have a boyfriend that treats you the way Jade treats Beck, leave him or I’ll make him leave. He didn’t saw much about the show to also see how Beck eventually became more a womanizer but he did saw at the beginning how Jade was toxic and violent and I got to see the double standards on toxic relationships. I am glad I was not the only one feeling that way and I’m glad to hear your opinion. Honestly, if we’re going to be overanalyzing any form of media, it ought to be kid’s and teen shows. These shows shape young, impressionable minds. Pretty Little Liars had me, at 12 years old, routing for a couple where a pedophile is preying on a 16 year old, which honestly could’ve lead me down a dark path had I been targeted by one as well.

Don't forget Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
-That one pushed teenage Buffy with an adult Angel, who (as shown in a flashback), stalked Buffy when she was a teen.
-Then they pushed Spike, a guy who spend his life trying to murder her and later on forced himself onto her, as her later love interest.
-Yet, they pushed Riley, a nearly perect male character, as "boring" and "undeserving" of Buffy purely because he was "too normal" and had no powers.

I wish you talked about Jade and Andre relationship and the potential it could have had (in Jade Gets Crushed). If they put those two together, the show would’ve finally stepped out of the status quo, and the characters would finally be able to grow. Andre not being around Tori could force her to start doing stuff for herself. Andre would be able to help Jade improve and not be so toxic. Beck could finally have some more appreciation for Jade’s good qualities, and would admit that he was a problem in the relationship too. And Andre wouldn’t feel so secondary to the story, like he’s just doing things for others, but actually has his own life. Putting them together would’ve made the show better, less of an episodic comedy and toxicity, and more about the story & characters

Even if they wanted Beck to be Jade's endgame, throwing Andre into the mix could've improved that storyline too just because of those details you pointed out.
Do I ship Jandre? Not completely but it's such a good dynamic to explore when he's the only one in the group that Jade didn't insult when she had her big break-up with Beck.
It would've made them both (Beck and Jade) improve as people regardless of endgame.
Though arguably, maybe just Beck and Jade finding out about Andre having feelings for Jade might have helped with that.

Personally, I have greater issue with Cat and Robbie's relationship.
Beck and Jade had an incredibly unhealthy relationship, don't get me wrong. And I'm biased because I always loved Jade and now I'm a huge fan or Avan Jogia (Beck's actor).
But I feel like if the show had continued and they had gotten to show those cute couple moments that were in those extra scenes, and because both of their issues came from understandable places, they could have depicted an unhealthy couple maturing and learning to genuinely respect one another. Jade had a very unhealthy childhood and home life, a lot of abandonment issues. It's implied that her parents fought and her dad was unsupportive of her ambitions. I wish we had gotten more about Beck as an individual, but in his interactions with other characters he is good at being a comforting and calming presence, almost older brotherly with Cat. But his hyper relaxed attitude made him unreceptive to his girlfriend's insecurity about his loyalty. They could have depicted these two communicating and learning how to respect Jade's feelings and boundaries without disregarding his (it's unhealthy not to let your boyfriend just have friends, women or otherwise).
Robbie, and people like Robbie, genuinely worry me. I've known guys (and just people in general) like Robbie, and I've been friends with people like Robbie. They base their entire self worth on whether they can get a gf/bf, and they fall into a mix of self pity and self loathing when rejected, or if their romantic feelings aren't reciprocated. Whether you call this a Nice Guy™️ or a Pick Me Boy, it can be genuinely creepy. They treat you like you're the most amazing person ever, and they respect you so much, and they could never be worthy of you - unless you don't like them back. Then you're a b-tch who only wants a partner who doesn't respect you, and you're the loser for not liking them back, for friendzoning them, for not seeing how they would be the perfect partner. They don't respect people (esp. women, this is usually guys with girls, but it's not always that way) as people, they respect them as potential romantic partners.
There's an episode where Cat starts dating a guy who thinks she's blonde, and freaks out the entire episode because she's worried he won't like her when he finds out she's not blonde. Robbie tells her that she's amazing and she shouldn't care what he thinks (which is great on its own), but ends up storming off (to be fair, Cat and Tori make fun of him, so fair enough). At the end of the episode, Cat is devastated that the boy did break up with her for not being blonde, and Robbie sings her a romantic song to cheer her up (Not. The. Time.). When she doesn't reciprocate still, it's framed as her being shallow and Robbie being mistreated, this underdog nice guy who never wins. She just got dumped for not being blonde by a guy she really liked.
Pairing up Robbie (who's issue comes from genuine insecurity but it's deep in the fabric of how he views his self worth, how he sees women, and how society treats Nice Guys like him and the girls who don't reciprocate their feelings) with someone like Cat, who has genuine trauma, a horrible family life, and mental health problems that could make her vulnerable to gaslighting, manipulation, and guilting, this would be much harder to work through healthily. Worse, I don't know if the show would have recognized the issues. Robbie was portrayed as a lovable dork who struggled to get the girl. The dude once stalked Tori, he changed his entire personality to get girls (not a specific girl, just Girls, the collective i guess) to like him, and he has cutouts of Cat. ALSO THE REX THING.

  • @sunnycastiglioni7512

To be honest, I'm not even sure how we're supposed to be feel about Jade and Beck as a couple. You're absolutely right that Jade had way more interest in him than the other way around, and when I watched the first time I remember hoping they would let us explore Beck and Tori, but then the later seasons kind of turned Beck into a womanizer...and I lost any sympathy I had for him with Jade once it started to look like he was attracting these girls to him and kind of flirting with them on purpose. Like, yes, Jade needed to learn how to handle her jealousy better, but doing that on purpose is an equally jerk move. As an audience member, you definitely get the sense that Beck mostly sees being with Jade as "taking what he can get." I kinda wish we had gotten to see an arc where Tori dates Beck and we find out he's actually an awful boyfriend. What I can gather of his personality seems like he isn't even in a relationship with Jade because he genuinely likes her, he's in a relationship with her because she's sensitive and volatile and he gets off on getting her upset. I don't even think the show really romanticized them, because they are shown to be a poor match for each other time and again and the show goes out of its way to make sure we know Jade is an awful, toxic girlfriend. Anyone who legitimately thinks they were supposed to be "couple goals" is either looking back on the show with so much positive nostalgia that they don't remember what actually happened, or is so desensitized to seeing toxicity in relationships they need years of therapy to unlearn it all...I really don't think the show was trying to romanticize them at all, I think they were kept a couple for the drama and humor the writers thought they could milk out of it. Then again, the writers could have just been dangerously unaware.
I think the show suffered from a lack of complexity, possibly as a result of some uncreativity among the show writers- who were unwilling to change the status quo because they didn't know how to write a funny show at the same time as portraying character growth. I feel like Beck and Jade, for example, just reeks of "haha wife bad" boomer humor repackaged for kids. In one of their breakup episodes, it honestly looks like things would be so much better for them apart- Jade is super hurt, but it looks like she might learn something from this and progress as a person, and Beck seems so much happier having the freedom to try things out with other people, but it's like the writers wouldn't know what to do with that so it doesn't happen. At some point, I know I really wanted to see some kind of growth happening. I wanted to see the main female cast put aside their feuding and just be friends, I wanted more complicated story arcs that culminated in something besides futile drama that ultimately goes nowhere because the status quo never changes. Even from the beginning, I think this would have been a more interesting story if it were a story about Tori Vega- who had only just discovered a natural but still very raw talent for the arts- coming in to this school with her unpolished talents and trying to learn from her super-talented peers and learning new things and developing as an artist, but from the start she was always just somehow naturally better than everyone.

    • @scarletgiry3958
      @scarletgiry3958 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Agreed! Especially with the second paragraph. I really wanted to see Beck and Jade growth from their time apart, form new relationships with other people. I think Jade and Andre would have made a really interesting couple (honestly if the writers wanted they could have used that as a plot where Jade gets jealous of how close Tori and Andre are, blows things out of proportion/threatens to break up with him if he doesn't stop "flirting" with her. Tori could confront Jade about her insecurity in her relationship and get through to her that Tori is not trying to (and was never trying to) steal her boyfriends. Andre, unlike Beck, would actually go after her and work things out. Maybe spill the beans about his huge crush on her that started in the "Jade Gets Crushed" episode and how he never thought he had a chance with her because she was with Beck but now he does and he's not gonna let her break things off without a fight. That would've been so good for both of them, Jade would start to put things in perspective and Andre would stand his ground.
With Beck, I think allowing him to show some vulnerability would have fleshed him out. Having him voice his thoughts in a way that surprises even him. Maybe the breakup starts to affect his acting, blocks his emotions and he starts to really struggle in class. Maybe instead of The Breakfast Club parody that we got, it could've been reworked into a Sleepover at Sikowitz Part 2, where the exercise is about vulnerability and Beck is the one who struggles the most, it would show the others that Beck is not perfect and Beck would confront his resistance to his feelings. Who knows what he would have said? Personally, it makes me sad that the show didn't do much with Beck because they could have.

@@scarletgiry3958 Interestingly enough, I shipped the girls in almost every possible way you can ship them- even as a triad (although that one kind of has crack-ship vibes for me)- but I'm also fully aware that was never going to happen on a Nickelodeon sitcom. We can have all the SA jokes in the world as long as it's cishet, but the minute two same-sex characters h*ld h*nds Bible Thumper Barbara is gonna be organizing her church faculty to bring down the whole organization and there's going to be an outcry. Long story short, I think if I have to pick a het couple for Jade to be in, Jandre works 🤷‍♀️ Both of them are sensitive, but Jade's sensitivity is most easily seen in her jealousy and anger, whereas Andre is openly emotional and more in touch with his feelings. It would make a good balancing act. Jade could teach him how to stand up for himself and he could help her learn to show concern for how other people feel. The only problem I would have with pairing them up is that André seems to be fickle with his crushes and girlfriends, which really wouldn't fly with Jade, but honestly it's not like he gets much romance time on screen. I feel like he could be an affectionate and even doting partner, which might go a long ways to reassuring Jade that he's genuinely into her.
I also feel like breaking up with Beck would release Jade and Tori's friendship from some of the drama it has. A lot of Jade's issue with Tori is that she thinks Tori's going to "steal" Beck from her, and it's not even obvious to me if that's just supposed to be her being territorial and possessive or if she can actually sense that Beck is into Tori. Jade is a fairly intuitive person, at least compared to Tori, so it wouldn't strike me as odd if she noticed it. If Jade were to fully let go of Beck, which she seemed to get really close to doing at least a few times, I think it would teach her something about life and leave her free to create meaningful friendships with other girls- including the other main characters in the show. She could learn that other women don't *have to be* her competition.
And I know a show this slapstick probably couldn't handle the nuance of intentionally writing Beck as a not-so-great boyfriend while keeping him as a likeable character, but I felt like the show went so far out of its way to show us they were interested in each other to just completely drop it. I would say that maybe Jade would give Tori some kind of "permission" to try things out with Beck once she's secure in her relationship with André and she'd take it, only to find out that Beck seems to intentionally do things to make his girlfriends question his devotion to or even affection for them. Maybe he's a shit communicator, makes plans and doesn't follow through, mostly seems to be interested in "making out" (as a metaphor for seggs, as most older viewers will notice) but somehow doesn't seem to care whom he's making out with- and maybe Tori starts acting a little bit like Jade in regards to him before she realizes what's happening. She could start changing her wardrobe and makeup and maybe even her art in efforts to impress him, eventually realize she can't, and then instinctively fall back on just trying to keep other girls away from him until Jade calls her out on it, and once Tori's experienced it for herself, she would have way more sympathy for Jade. And then, with that, we could also get a Beck storyline. God knows he needs one, a lot of the male characters are painfully under-developed.

@@sunnycastiglioni7512 Yes! I love your idea of Jade realizing other girls don't have to be her competition, I would have loved to see her grow past her insecurities. I also agree that Andre does seem fickle in his relationships but honestly I blame the show for that as all his girlfriends were kinda awful to some extent, weren't they? But even that could've been brought in the show, where everyone thinks Jandre won't last but they end up proving everyone wrong and even surprising themselves with how well they fit together. I believe if really given the chance Andre would've been a great boyfriend, can you imagine him writing songs for Jade and them just being cute together? I would have loved to have seen that. Jandre is a ship that I didn't really consider plausible until after the show ended and I think there could have been a lot of potential there.
Yeah, Jade and Tori's friendship totally would have improved w/o the Beck drama. If Bori happened like you said and Tori ended up getting jealous/paranoid that would have had me glued to my screen. It would have been pretty cathartic for Jade to feel justified in her feelings and see "perfect" Tori go through what she went through. She'd probably tease her for it a little then talk some sense into her and they'd come to understand each other a lot more, that would have been great. But also call Beck out in how he interacts with other girls, especially when they blatantly flirt with him. He needs to be the one to set things straight not his friends. They could've also shown the reverse since everyone was always constantly hitting on Tori too, would she flirt back just to make him jealous?🤷

@@scarletgiry3958 I honestly don't remember too many of André's romantic relationships in general, although for the most part I think the show writers would have a motive to keep all of his romantic interests to seem unappealing...none of them are meant to last past the episode, and if everything is going well and we like the random female side character, that would be a change to the status quo and the writers don't know how to handle that.
I think if Jandré were to happen, we'd have a change where Tori probably features in his songs and performances less- I don't think it would become "not at all," but I do think she would end up needing to find another musician or composer at the school- or, better yet, we could see her actually develop skills as a musician or sound mixer (maybe Sinjin could teach her how to use music synthesizers- something I know nothing about). I think some people have said that the type of music they did for the show really didn't suit Victoria Justice's actual vocal talent, and I'm not sure if that's true or not, but if true this could be an opportunity for them to branch off and do something her talents were better suited for. On a tangentially related note, I feel like we don't see a whole lot of Tori...actually creating art? Like, Jade's major talent seems to be playwriting- although she's obviously still a singer and actor- Tori usually needs André to write songs and compose music for her, and she takes parts in plays performed at the school but she doesn't show much interest in creating them or even in the more artistic theatrics of performing. Even Cat is shown to be exceptionally talented at costume design, Trina scripts, directs, and performs her own one-woman show, but you don't see much of Tori trying to get involved in any kind of artistic process of any kind with any other kind of art. Maybe not having André to use as a crutch all the time could have given her the motive to spread her wings and learn how to do lyric writing and compose melodies. I think it would be cute to have a scene where Tori's expecting André to come over to help her with a project, but she opens the door and it's Jade standing there like "André couldn't make it tonight, he has too many assignments to do for *himself,* but he promised you'd have someone to help you and I'm free tonight."
Hm...that is a good question...what would Tori do? I'm thinking something like a...maybe "reprise" is the word...of the scene from that one opening episode where Tori kisses Beck to get back at Jade? It wouldn't have to be set up exactly the same way, but maybe Jade would help her with it, ie: Tori wants to get involved in a play or something Jade is working on, and Jade casts her in a role that gets like...long, steamy make-out scenes with a male character, then casts the male character to be someone that we see has a little bit of chemistry with Tori both on and off-stage. And at some point, he's sitting in the audience watching some guy make out with his girlfriend on stage, and André being kinda cutesy with Jade- like, cuddled up, complimenting her on her play or something, and the reality of the situation hits him like a ton of bricks- that the people he wants in his life are going to move on and make happy lives for themselves without him if he doesn't grow up and make some serious decisions. I would even vote to have an eventual Bori break-up, resulting in his life and storylines being separate (but still tangentially related) from the rest of the main cast for a while. I'm not really sure what to suggest as an end goal for Beck's character development, except to realize his mistakes and apologize. Like, I'm not sure what he needs to learn about himself to make him a better person.
I do feel like we're constructing the best fanfiction on earth, and if I didn't have so much to do in my day to day life rn I would totally write it 😭

I watched quinton reviews’s videos about victorious and I think he made a really good point about beck and tori’s relationship. Tori was definitely into beck in the begging and would’ve entertained the idea of being with him at one point however by the time beck and jade broke up she was already past him. While for beck a relationship with tori was always in the back of his mind, like something inevitable that will happen sometime in the future so when he finally got his chance he striked expecting tori to still be interested and reciprocate.
As for beck and jade, I loved them when I was younger (and still do), both as a couple and jade specifically as a character. I don’t why as I have always fully understood the toxicity of their relationship and jade’s bad behaviour. I never admired them nor wanted a relationship like theirs I just enjoyed watching them and thought they were entertaining. Despite being a jade fan when I was younger I definitely saw her as the bad guy in the relationship. Now that I’ve rewatched victorious I do still think her behaviour was often exaggerated and too aggressive but at the same time I think a lot of her insecurity surrounding her relationship with beck was justified. You talked about how beck was definitely not fully into the relationship but I’m one of those people who think beck was as bad of a boyfriend as jade was a girlfriend. While jade’s anger and jealousy was mostly expressed through actions and words, beck’s disregard was more silent. There were multiple times where jade was jealous of a girl that beck reassured he didn’t have interest in and the second they break up he tries to get with that particular girl (ex. Tori, Alyssa Vaughn from Beck and Jade break up and the girl with the cupcakes from tori fixes beck and jade). All of that proves that jade was right that beck might have interest in them. Moreover we often see him rolling his eyes whenever jade makes a comment or jokingly say they might break up. There were other times like when that reality show they filmed made it seem like beck was cheating on jade with tori and he didn’t really have a reaction to that or his ignorance to sinjin who was kinda obsessed with jade (girls in general but particularly jade) to the point where he entered her house or would make weird comments. There are many more examples. I do think that they have some undeniably cute moments, especially from the slap content.
I think the best outcome for them in the case where they get back together would’ve been if we were to see them both having actual relationships that didn’t end up working out (maybe not necessarily with tori for beck) and have them getting friendlier with each other, communicate without the pressure of their relationship and then have them get back together. Would’ve loved to see them both more mature and jade not so dependent on beck (which I think would lessen her outbursts as well) while beck being more comfortable and fully hands on with the relationship
Edit: I realise that I sound like I’m defending jade’s actions but I’m talking about beck more as I do agree with everything you said about jade. She was definitely too aggressive and a bully (often times unprovoked). I also think they really exaggerated her character past season one into someone scarier, more aggressive and vile (similar to how they infantilised cat with each season). I think she was a bit nicer and willing to show emotion and compassion in season 1.

It’s always like that with tv shows. People love the mean girls, which i kinda get, but also not, cause some of them are even kinda like bullies. (Like Cherly in riverdale or Santana from glee…and many more) it was always annyoing to me, that People act like they are Queens, who can do everytime, and even look up to them. I always get really triggered cause i was also bullied for 10 years at school, and am really scared because of it (like i don’t like going outside or feel really insecure and uncomfortable beeing around People) and People making excuses and doing like beeing mean and bullying is ok, or even a cool thing to do is really sicking to me….

So, I can't speak for anyone else in this, but I love Jade as a character while also agreeing that a lot of what she did was wrong- my position on it isn't that *she* knows she's mean, it's that the narrative knows she's mean. When comparing her mean-spiritedness with other characters', like Tori's, Jade's can end up being downplayed not because it's objectively "better" in some way but rather because the narrative was already presenting her behavior as wrong, whereas with other characters it's more of a mixed bag. Sometimes the other characters, who aren't meant to be "mean," do things that are really awful but the narrative seems completely unaware or is even trying to peddle it as a good thing/something they were right to do. One example is Cat intentionally dating Sinjin for access to his credit card and then dumping him when she realizes she won't have free, open access to it. Narratively speaking, Jade was also the only one to consistently be held accountable for her selfishness, aggression, jealousy, and other harmful personality flaws. The others are all a mixed bag, with Tori (or perhaps Cat) being held accountable the least.
I also think Jade was way over-demonized at times; a lot of the behavior that the show tried to convince us was "mean" was actually just Jade reacting to having her boundaries violated repeatedly by her opposite-sex peers, which sends a bad message to younger viewers of the show- that asserting your boundaries makes you a mean person.

    • @BabyGirlTiny
      @BabyGirlTiny 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

@@sunnycastiglioni7512 umm, the show portrayed cat “dating” sinjin for money was presented as what it was. Cat dating sinjin for money. And it wasn’t even a plot point, it was the end of the episode and nothing was explored by it. Like, it was funny because we knew what it was and it wasn’t going to go anywhere or meant to be taken serious
I don’t understand the idea that victorious doesn’t present things that are mean as mean, when they most definitely do.
I would like an example of Jade being over demonized?

      @sunnycastiglioni7512 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@BabyGirlTiny I would have to comb through the show for more specific details. What I remember most specifically is one of the first episodes after the pilot, when we're just being introduced to the cast of characters who are there besides Tori, and one of the male characters- I think either Robbie or maybe some throw-away character who never came up again- was completely invading her personal space. Like almost trying to sit on her lap. And even when she made it known that she wanted them out of her personal space bubble, they tried to keep the conversation going until they were too intimidated to continue. This was supposed to be our introduction to Jade as a "mean" character.
I think this might have been extra-cannon (on The Slap videos) but she caught Sinjin playing with a sock puppet and wasn't even upset until she found out the sock puppet he was "making out" with was supposed to be a replica of her. Then she found out she was being filmed during this obviously creepy and upsetting time and there is no awareness in the narrative at all that this was a very uncomfortable situation for her to be in. It's framed completely like she's just being violent

Idk Tori does some pretty terrible stuff but unlike Jade, Tori is the protagonist so the things she does are supposed to be ok or even justified, and pairing her with her jealous friend as they both sort of grow and change (because grade ten to grade twelve is a huge transition in which people can adopt and shed a lot of different traits good and bad) and realize maybe they have more in common than not kinda works for me

Even tough I think Jade was being the more abusive and toxic part of the relationship and towards Beck, (Of course Beck also had very negative attitudes, but I think his were most about a relationship in itself rather than to Jade) the show refused to split permanently Jade and Beck simply because Beck was a boring character in his own.
Wich is funny, normally, shows struggle to write good female characters but in this case, even though I wouldn't call any character from this show a good, developed character, the girls were clearly the most important and focused from the cast, aside from Robbie. Both Beck and Andre are flat and mainly exist to a) be levelheaded between whacky characters (Andre) or b) A literal plot device for the female characters (Beck). There is nothing more than that for them.
Of course, that is a blessing in disguise, because they are imo the least problematic characters from this show, but unfortunately, for Dan S. also the least entertaining.

I wish Jade would've stayed single and not let Beck back into her life. He wasn't a good boyfriend to her! It was so classic “good guy, but bad boyfriend!” type of relationship. He didn’t care about her feelings and put friends above her all the time. She definitely was an insecure girl, but looking back on the things she was upset about. That shit would've made me feel weird too, and he was the typical hot guy who flirted with everybody! And they showed this by him kissing Tori the first fucking episode, yet nobody saw that as a red flag?!? That made people think “oh yeah they should end up together!” I’ve seen so many friends of mine who turned into “crazy girlfriends” because they would talk with their partners in private, just for them to disregard it when they would get around their friends. They wanna make their peers happy more than they want to make their girlfriends happy. Yes, it’s the person‘s responsibility for their own happiness, but if you express that discomfort when something happens, and you partner even agrees to help, then they need to follow suit. Beck constantly didn’t have Jade‘s back!! I wish she would've went on her journey of self discovery (without dating other men!) because that honestly complicates shit more than people admit!! And then would’ve just been happier with herself and not being angry all the time, and even being closer friend to Tori. The Way, they wrote her character made it seem like she wasn’t a girl’s girl. But you can tell from the way she treats Cat that that’s just simply not true. She loves Cat, so much and defends Cat whenever anybody tries to make her feel stupid. I’m gonna be honest with you. That was her saving grace for me!! She was supposed to be the emo girl, and they did a really bad job of writing her. They made her way too angry when really she’s insecure, and just upset that her boyfriend keeps flirting with other girls! i’m not gonna act as if everything she did was OK just because she was insecure no! The way she treated Tori was atrocious and very sad, especially with how much she came to Tori when shit would blow up in her face. The dynamic just made no fucking sense! But I feel like Jay🧑🏾‍🍼 is way more relatable than any girl wants to admit because she was horribly insecure and instead of people seeing it as a sad thing they just saw her as a perpetually angry person and sometimes that’s what insecurities make you look like if she would’ve just stayed single and actually been a type of girl and her friends. It would’ve showed how much back really affected her as a person. And being with the wrong person for us as women! This can definitely happen too, but I’m a girl so I’m gonna speak on girls.

The way Beck treats other girls like his girlfriends but not his actual girlfriend or flirting with other girls and not telling them about Jade and then Jade being the crazy jealous one seems a little gaslighty. „Babe I wasn’t even flirting with her she was flirting with me idk why U act so crazy all the time“
Ofc we never heard him say that but idk. I think I would get insane over time if I saw my Boyfriend act like this with only other girls and not me (especially in public for everyone to see). But maybe it was even the opposite that Jade was always acting this way so Beck started flirting with others bc he wasn’t happy in the relationship? 🤷🏻‍♀️

i just never liked Tori and Beck as a couple and i don't think they would worke as one.
Tori and Andre had potential and they could have a healthy relationship.
as kid i loved Jade and Beck because they just had a diffrent vibe as other couples on TV - i don't mean the fights and everything but the charisma, coolness, their looks - and not this happy ''Disney like'' everything perfect vibe

  • @licittofficial

I dont think it really romanticized their toxic relationship. Sure this is a comedy show first, but secondly its also a drama. Jade and becks main fights and toxic moments are usually the main conflict of the episode, in some cases few episode arcs. So its not really played for laughs and it definitely acknowledges how toxic and negative it is, but to a certain degree its realistic. Unfortunately a lot couples in abusive relationships do stay together, or the break up and get back together over and over again.
It shows Beck honestly has a lot of self sabotaging character traits, which is usually overshadowed by Jades extremely angry and obnoxious behavior.
Last year i was in a relationship with someone whos had exclusively abusive partners before me. Because i wasn't abusive and didn't show any toxic behavior, she became extremely paranoid and overly analytical towards everything i did, waiting for the catch, because for all she knew, healthy relationship dont exist.
Whenever i was comforting, loving, level headed, patient and understanding, she'd panic. One day while we were talking on the phone she said "please! Tell me im stupid! Say you hate me! Say im ugly or annoying! I don't know how to act when someone loves me!"
    I legit almost cried.
Once i got annoyed at a bus driver and she said "ouuu i like that, i haven't seen you when you're angry, its hot ;)" that broke my heart, but its a dark reality that we need to accept exists. Some people are just too dar gone, they've been abused so much that they legitimately see it as love and are happy with it

Jade has daddy issues , she found beck who cares about her he is the only one who can stand her, and her over jealousy is because she knew she is lucky to have beck and I dont know why beck wants to be with her , like even when the are together he flirt with another girl and the first episode he kissed tori infront of her !!!! And the only reason that jade hates tory because of beck I think if they brockup and she get over her jealousy she would be so much better without him I did liked her with they weren’t together.

I believe Tori and Beck had good chemistry together cause they were friends in real life, they were in the movie spectacular together. Also I liked that she didn't date beck or kiss him, I feel that shows character development on her cause I'm the first season she kisses cats boyfriend, from there I feel she learned. Although it could've been nice to explore since I did ship the two

Jade is only jealous by anyone because she knows Beck is the only one she ever had and could have, he could handle her but only because she wanted. Beck was a jerk to her, he never mentioned he was taken to the girls at karaoke and kept wanting to get into relationships after he and Jade broke up. And Jade would count to 10 to decide if he wanted her, he almost went but didn’t and instead wanted to play cards. What? No he doesn’t deserve mercy since he’s taking advantage of Jade and is portrayed as worse. Jade just is mean at times and very jealous. Beck doesn’t really care and said he likes girls who fight back and doesn’t want Jade since she is just that

Back then I think we all only saw Jade as the crazy psychotic girlfriend who made Beck suffer but we need to remember Beck was kind of at fault too. He was aloof and unsupportive of Jade - LITERALLY ok with kissing Tori in the first episode knowing what she was trying to do to Jade. Also being complicit in a relationship you are not happy with is not good either. Beck really should’ve stayed apart from Jade.

  • @x-man9473

Andre and Tori are the only healthy connection in the series.
As friends, they are the best boy-girl platonic relationship in Nickelodeon history.
If they dated, they would be the healthiest relationship in the show.

I do agree that it should have been Tandre I think it was racism as the reason it didn't happen especially after Quiet On the Set. I would have liked to see recurring characters on the show to be boyfriend/girlfriend of the cast but I don't think they had the budget for that to happen. I know there's one person that Victoria Justice would have liked to have back. Bori I believe would have ended the same way Bade the first time. I don't think Beck was a good boyfriend. I would have been smart if Jade and Beck moved on.

The vanilla ice cream protagonist problem, like Bella Thorn and Katnis Everdeen she's supposed to completely ordinary but also somehow super special at the same time and the writing tries to balance it but fails. Super dull so they can be anyone yet super great that everyone loves, it's such whiplash annoys people when it's not pulled off properly.
