Yes, because the resolution of the screen is higher than 1440p. LCD Displays are fixed displays so lower rendering resolution than the screen will always look off

In theory you would need only RetroArch for emulation because it has tons of cores, even a Dolphin core for Wii/GC emulation, you only need to go through some extra steps to configure it. You wouldn't need to install a separate emulator for it. I don't know about PSP, though. Never checked. But I think it also has a PSP core. And with RetroArch, you can also install non emulation games like Cave Story NX

The performance. All iPad Pro models have at least 8GB of RAM. Memory swap is largely for those who edit photos or videos on their iPads. Emulators don't use that much RAM until PS3 or 360.
I don't think these emulators are using more combined CPU&GPU memory than 8GB. It's definitely due to the faster GPU + CPU single thread + memory + larger L2 cache.

software is what is holding me back, i really need to be able to split screen any two apps, and i'll be changing both phone and tablet to apple.
@blackbriarwolf doesn't let me split any two games, only certain apps
@@flandrble hmmm let me try
Yeah you right! But why you want to play 2 game? Lol, i don't think i ever play 2 game at same time in PC as well

What is your wallpaper? It looks so good! Do you have a link?
I love my iPad and can’t wait to hopefully get this m2
The audio at 2:00-2:01 tripped me up
The wallpapers for the iPad where did you get em? They are 🔥
Would to see an update with this and the new m4 iPad pro
It is crazy to think that we can play Wii/Gamecube stuff on a tablet.
It's great to see Apple finally doing *_something_* really well in the Games space!
Amazing device. Video title says it all.
The 2 minute mark where you were playing some video of colorful lava…Can you please provide the link or where that’s from? Great video
i subscribed cause this guy cool and informative. good vid
You should do an update since they now allow it, while everyone is looking at the m4 some wanna see the m2 or a comparison to see if we should save the money
Getting mine in a week or so can't wait
It's definitely interesting that one can run emulated games in 4k, but does one really notice any quality gains at 4k vs. 1440p on an 11 inch screen with games that were never intended to be run at super high resolutions?
Yes, because the resolution of the screen is higher than 1440p. LCD Displays are fixed displays so lower rendering resolution than the screen will always look off
@@martinantelo7086 unless it scales perfectly, eg, 1080p on a 4k screen
@@martinantelo7086 Not so much if one can't resolve the pixels at native resolution nor if the original graphics have low rez sprites / textures meant for much lower resolutions.
No. In fact higher than 1440p will actually look worse than resolutions closer to the resolution of the display. Especially if you're running at much higher resolutions like >5K. At that point you need a higher resolution display for it to not be meaningless.
Play! Is a very much ps2 emulator. The game list compatibility is growing regularly. Very cool iPad and thank-you for sharing.
The M2 is crazy smooth.
Amazing cpu.... But the limited OS kills it for me. I wish snapdragon cathes up to this kind of performance soon.
Catches up ? 😀 do you understand that these benchmark resukt has nothing to do with iser experience? I use ipad m1 and s8ultra and there is no difference in performance at all ( ot s8u feels event faster, because you can turn off all animations. And sadly android is around 5 years ahead. Ipad is nice but not meant to be used as tool for productivity.just a toy
@@MrPoliarinis samsung fanboys back at it again "IPads aren't meant for productivity, just toys" 🤓🤓🤓🤓 are u high ???
@@LoBoHoBo09 samsung fanboy who uses Mac every day, iphone and caries around iPad in backpack almost every day 😀 nice try 😀 how old are you 14 ? 😀 it's just a fact if you need to get work done you get macbook or s8ultra. But for productivity ipad sucks... sadly
@The Mitchell Special saying that I use different platforms for different task doesn't make my arguments worse 😀 on contrary it says that I can objectively compare platforms in real life scenarios, Yes I prefer Mac over windows on daily basis ( sometimes Linux). For phone I use mostly n20u and iPhone 12 (note I like more ) tab s8u always better than iPad for me for work. But ipad seems a bit more convenient to carie around without a keyboard ( that way ipad is number 1 toilet tablet in the world probably)
@@LoBoHoBo09 They are just toys, Apple can not even be bothered to put an SD or Micro SD card slot on the damn thing, which for something that is "pro" (and should be good for photo editing with it's CPU and screen) is a massive drawback for pro work.
Great presentation sir. Thank you. I've been considering an M2 iPad for music app compatibility with my pc with gaming being a huge 2nd main use. As an Android user, I did not know that these emulators had to be sideloaded and limited to only 3 apps, figured they could just be downloaded from the app store... Thanks for putting that out there because now I know that Jailbreak is a Must for me so I can have more emulators. I'm curious to know what local game streaming options there are for iOS like Moonlight, Rainway etc. will those also have to be sideloaded?
Moonlight, steam link, GeForce now and Amazon Luna are all available.
Good luck I already updated my iPhone 13 to 16.4 because I got tired of waiting had 15.3.1 for a year dam near jailbreaking takes a lot longer to happen on newer apple devices.
I feel like the new m4 is gonna go crazy for emulation as IOS emulation gets better
Apples hardware is amazing . It’s doing all this on a fraction of the power a desktop computer uses
That thing would Even run Xenia and RPCS3 if there an iOS port
Welp it seems switch emulation is now here on ios. We will see how it holds up on my M1 iPad Pro and A17 Pro iPhone 15 Pro. Probably not great but people are making progress. Gotta say the iPad really has the perfect aspect ratio for old emulation. Everything was 4:3 back in the day.
I just saw pokemon colosseum, I knew it was gonna be a good video
Making a purchase decision. Can you test the iPad mini 7 vs the iPad Pro 11 m2? I wanted to see if there is a huge difference and possibly getting an older pro model could be a good idea as they are both about 500$ right now.
I hope in the next year when Apple allow to install different app stores, iPad will be much convenient for people as me
I like your wallpaper! Can you send links where to download?
S8 Ultra looks... ULTRA!!!
Its so freaking big and beautiful!!!
Want it right now. Perfect for android and cloud gaming.
Bro this is a vid about m2 ipad pro and most people wont care anyways
Apple heavily dominates the tablet game, even in 3rd world countries in south east Asia. The majority are iPads.
I'm loving my iPad Pro so far, I'm gonna emulate so many games!
ALSO WHAT IS THAT WALLPAPER PLEASE I WANT TO MAKE IT MY WALLPAPER TOO!
What about the M1 iPads? Will the M1 handle all this stuff?
Cool vid 😎
Any Amiga emulators? Those would be great to see!
Might want to add in that you have to use JIT and be on the same WiFi as your AltServer. Also Flycast is available but only works when local. Only being able to run PPSSPP and RetroArch while on the go made me have to leave it alone
I was wondering how he got dolphin OS to work. Didn't mention the set up to have Jit running. Jit streamer seems like such a hassle. Would be great to be able to run the app without a streamer program.
@@david2082 yeah only way possible with that I believe is Jailbreak
@ETAPRIMEN please do a video about usb controllers support for this iPad. As you own a lot of controllers it would be interesting to see the new usb controllers support
The only feature missing now for the 11" is MiniLED.
Can you make a new one for the 1TB M4 IPad Pro?
It's always the same problem with m chip ipads - an obscene amount of power hamstrung by restrictions that render all the power useless.
You video is great but how are you running dolphinios did you turn on jit or turn off
Please tell me
You have to turn JIT on, it’ll just crash otherwise
When I saw that you were gonna try GameCube emulation my first thought was “damn, it would be cool to play timesplitters 2 again”, and what do you know, it was the first game you showed for GameCube 🤣 I never knew anyone else who played that game back in the day, but god damn it was good haha
if they allowed sideload, made ipad switch between ipad os and mac os i definately would have bought it.. a 2 in 1 tablet computer, stylus support and emulation capacity.. students dream
Buy s9 ur dreams are true now
@@RealPlatoishere mac os still not allowed
It's just amazing how far behind Qualcomm is.
Don’t let that fool you tho. Snapdragons chip is way more powerful than you’ll ever need it to be.
@@matthewbitter532 “more powerful than you’ll ever need it to be” … I keep hearing that line about every CPU generation for decades - yet devs keep pushing the limits of software and gaming to a cpu’s breaking point, finding new ways to take advantage of the current cutting edge. Bottom line, It may be all the power YOU need for now, but you can’t speak for other peoples wants or needs.
Great review as always. Could you try Wii U Xenoblade Chronicles?
Not possible.
8:50 lower resolution for effect (reduces artifacts) , you didn't changed to balance maybe it make it some blurry but it make it better graphics
Wow what a device 👏 😳
Microsoft has just released Project Volterra and I hope you will test it out soon!
You should've tested Sonic Colors with the 60fps cheat. I wanna see how that runs on this beast. I tried the 60fps cheat on my Android phone and it struggles.
They really should switch to OLED imo, going back to iPad from Galaxy Tab S8 Plus, the blur/ghosting of the iPad screen is noticeable
Will this iPad do the Amiga and Dreamcast ?
bump
I have the one before this. Still a beast
ETA, my man. What about that video about how to mod a Game Sir controller to fit the tab S8? :(
Alt Store is amazing
Amazing performance for a tablet. Maybe in 10 years this is common and cheap. :)
please make an emulation video on the Iphone 15 pro
I wish I knew how to emulate my iPad Pro to turn it into a gaming machine
Which cam do you record with ? If it is really canon, Which lens?
Hi, I am a long time iPad user, currently using the 2018 iPad Pro. It can just about run Wind Waker in Dolphin with occasional hiccups. I am on the fence, between upgrading my iPad to the M2 or rather buying the Steam Deck for emulation. Any thoughts?
If the iPad you have is working now I would personally pick up the Deck.
Steam deck is WAY better
Im new to this channel. I do own an 12.9 iPad Pro with m1. Is it possible to install the GameCube emulator and play all the games? I do own all Nintendo Consoles - However, I’d like to play own my iPad when I’m on the go and with this emulators it could work really well! :)
Do u think the jump in performance is down to the m2 chip or could it also be something to do with the new Virtual Memory Swap feature in ipados 16?
The performance. All iPad Pro models have at least 8GB of RAM. Memory swap is largely for those who edit photos or videos on their iPads. Emulators don't use that much RAM until PS3 or 360.
I don't think these emulators are using more combined CPU&GPU memory than 8GB. It's definitely due to the faster GPU + CPU single thread + memory + larger L2 cache.
Vf2 my childhood ❤
Try Nintendo switch emulator for iOS
It's sad that ipad pro m2 has that much power but is stuck due to the software :/
I feel like it can run switch games , no problem at all..
Fun fact apple is the one who started the emulation business with ps1 emulator on MacBook :D
Hi Eta, does your iPad need to be jailbroken?
