Hello Arun
*That's Crazy 🤪🎉*
Hiiiii
Siuuuu
The fact that Apple made an iPad more powerful than most PCs but still can't design a simple calculator app for it yet is insanely mind boggling
I’m pretty sure there IS a reason why there isn’t a built in calculator on the iPad
@@milkseacher1I guess ipad users are just so smart that they can do all their calculations on their brain
Who tf uses a calculator on an iPad? Obviously there should be one but this flaw is largely exaggerated.
that's because it will never replace a calculator
Because the calculator is to tough to crash using a hydrolic press xd
This is such an honest review. People need to see how troublesome it is with the operating system when it comes to daily tasks, regardless of how powerful the new iPad is.
It is a tablet UI and people are rigid in their perception because most have been brought up in a desktop OS world. It is very similar to Android tablets, both designed for touch and based on apps. They are for me, far more useful than laptops but I can understand they are not for everyone, and if it is not for you then that does not make it bad, it just means…it is not for you!
@@andyH_England this is a UX problem, not a UI problem.
@@nikoraasu6929 Well sorry to say but iPadOS was designed to be a tablet touch experience so we can take it as given that it will not be the same UX experience as a desktop OS. It is also a modern OS not designed in the 1970s so is using sandboxed apps meaning a file manager cannot be the same as Windows. I am sure if Windows was invented in 2024 it would also use this UX and if we had not had anything come before then people would accept it and get used to it.
It’s so frustrating cause honestly the iPad is my favorite form factor of any device I’ve used and it’s this close to being great but it just falls short in every aspect
@@CallMeVidd you could say the same thing for clamshell laptops that they don't have pen support, 5G, are not as portable and practical outdoors. But funny enough no one mentions that when they make clamshell laptop reviews. So I get the impression many creators are simply flexing on the iPad because they can appeal to the lowest denominator. Most people understand the limitations and work with them rather than whining about them. In time it will get better but the iPad Pro has only existed for a few years compared to 40 plus for Windows. So expectations probably need to be realigned along a common sense understanding of the timeline.
This is why I like Arun, he doesn't review a product, he reviews the experience. Sure it's fast, great camera, sweet features and this and that... But actually using it is a different experience. Wish more tech tubers would use this approach

6:03 If you go to settings > accessibility > pointer control and then turn off ‘pointer animations’ it will make it more of an actual curser instead of a “blob”
it should be an option to pick it or have the pointer as default
It's still a circle though sadly
Mouse… blob had me on the floor
On olds school RuneScape the mouse is actually a cursor pointer
does it have to be connected to appear??? i cant see it.
I saw someone put it very succinctly:
Pro: "the MOST POWERFUL tablet ever"
Con: "the most powerful TABLET ever"
I would like to amend this with:
Pro: the MOST POWERFUL apple tablet ever
Con: the most powerful APPLE tablet ever
And before the hate comes in for landing, I have an M3 macbook pro and love it... there are times Apple is a pro, but for balance Apple must also be a con.
And I always reply: If you don't want a tablet, buy a (touchscreen) laptop.
People think the iPad (even with all accessories) is a laptop replacement. It's not. It's a THIRD device between the phone and the laptop. It's always meant to be that, and it always will be that.
As someone who uses the iPad Pro for drawing, i like it. It works well and with the new Apple Pencil Pro's features it's definitely an upgrade
android tablets dont even exists in this paradime
@@freestar_cyan I chose the s9 ultra over Ipad pro mostly because the aspect ratio on the Ipad is extremely bad for watching videos and movies, screens bigger, can multitask apps at the same time, audio is better, the pen that comes with it and the magnet points are better, built in second screen function to turn it into a 2nd/3rd monitor, just seems crazy to me now people would ever consider the ipad over the s9 ultra, the only actual thing the ipad might be better designed for is actual creative functions like drawing etc, but 99% of people never even touch that
This was by far the most well rounded and least click baity videos I've seen as of late. You have described PERFECTLY, how this isn't a mac, it shouldn't be a mac, but can still behave more like a full fledged computer if only a few things were implemented. I would argue there could be a few more, but not egregiously so and it would end up being vastly better overall for portability than a macbook for most scenarios.
This is the apple marketing genius. The ipad pro is a niche product made for a small percentage of people who can take advantage of it's insane horsepower but also limited enough that those same people will need a full fledge Macbook. I have an ipad 21 gen & a 19 Macbook pro. both together are perfect & I have yet to have either show a sign of slowing down.
And to be fair, Apple software is always terrible. I hate their layouts and lack of controls in the menu designs.
It wouldn't be vastly better in terms of portability because the ipad pro 13 with keyboard is almost exactly same weight as a macbook air 13 (only 40 gms more) and that is a proper computer with proper file management , no memory handling issues or half baked apps. Not to mention a vastly superior track pad and keyboard experience. Only advantage I can think of an ipad is that it is great for drawing. (Other than the normal tablet use case of media and emails)
@@yousigiltubeMacOS is good. iOS is good. iPad OS is the only bad one lol. Reason being it doesn’t work for the device itself that well.
I've lived and seen this cycle many times. You switch over to the iPad Pro as main device and it feels amazing, and freeing. It's a revelation. Slowly you start running into issues, but you find workarounds or put up with them. There is software and games you can't run, but you push that out of your mind and rationalise that you don't need that software or don't want to play those games anymore. And finally you snap, and go back to your normal computer that just fucking works, and lets you run anything you want, and you're right back where you started a year or two ago.
The iPad Pro is a fantastic luxury tablet and once you make peace with that and use it for what it is, you enjoy it so much more.
Been there with my tab s8 ultra, but the difference is I slowly started using my computer less and less and now I've been tablet only for a year, not considering looking back. 90% of these are non issues on Samsung tablet.
And for some reason that feels intentional. Otherwise why would people go for a mac at all if they could do everything they wanted on an ipad?
@@gabrielgon3408This. I've been using a Samsung Tab S6 Lite for at least 4 years now. I paid 250€ for it. It's nowhere near as powerful as the iPad _or_ the Tab S8, but it has completely replaced my computer. I'm considering an upgrade to the Tab S9. Meanwhile, I got a new Laptop as a gift months ago and I've used it maybe an hour in total since.

This was a really good video because you thoroughly explained all of the idiosyncrasies and handicaps of the iPad OS in trying to accomplish daily tasks we take for granted on a Macbook. Glad I didn't drop 2K for one of these.
Exactly! These kinds of easily fixable problems are the kind I'm annoyed about on my 15 Pro Max as well! It's such a good phone, until you stumble upon an idiotic design decision. I REALLY hope they'll adress this in iOS 18, although my hopes are still quite low.

This was extremely well detailed. I wouldn't say you're able to talk about every single issue with every single person but this was an incredibly good review and I hope people at Apple are able to see it and are allowed to address these issues. Thanks Arun!

Many of these issues are the same issues that iPad has had from the beginning. When iPad first came out a lot of people hoped it would replace a laptop, but closing background files, inconsistent behavior between multiple apps, lacking multitasking, inability to efficiently use a mouse and keyboard, non-ubiquitous access to a common file system, not having a calculator… it’s shortcomings make it where I’d rather use my phone or a laptop/desktop.
I would say that these issues are more likely since they put the M1 into the ipad. A very powerful desktop grade SoC but not the software and compatibility.
@@ContraVsGigi True they pretty much put an M1 chip into a giant phone. With the M1 chip it is able to do so much just not well. At that price point you might as well get the Macbook
I saw another video about this and the reason they can't fix all these problems is because desktop and laptop computers are click-based and tablets and phones are touched based so they use the completely different architecture.
You would think it would be easy to make a PC on a tablet, but it's actually incredibly hard. That's why they don't Port the desktop version of all the programs on laptops on tablets because they work completely different. It would take years of figuring stuff out before they could ever bring a computer experience to a tablet.
Command + Space then start typing your calculation. If you need anything more than that for simple arithmetic, you’re probably better off just downloading a third party app anyway. The dot/blob is a function of it being touch first and point and click second. The reason right-clicking isn’t a thing on the iPad is because it’s designed as a touch-first device, not a point-and-click tool. The iPad has to compensate for our pudgy fingers, which are less precise than a mouse. Instead of tiny pixel clicks, the iPad uses intuitive gestures and touch interactions that make sense for a touchscreen. This design choice ensures a smooth and user-friendly experience that aligns with the way we naturally interact with touch devices.
Moreover, software like Final Cut Pro is designed differently on the iPad to leverage these touch-first interactions. While the desktop version relies on mouse precision and traditional menus, the iPad version uses touch-friendly controls and optimized gestures, making it more intuitive and accessible on a touchscreen interface. This ensures that powerful desktop applications remain functional and user-friendly on the iPad, despite the different input methods. It’s astonishing how many tech reviewers fail to grasp this basic concept.
The rest is on app developers, and not necessarily an iPad issue per se. Would I like it to be like a laptop, of course. Will it? Likely not. Per the aforementioned.
@@mikefalls2405 Don't you think apple needs to give more focus on ipad than mac as they have been hyping the ipad for so long.. yet they are not making it better than macos in terms of making ipad OS a hybrid place where both ios and macos software would be playable(encouraging swift developers to make apps multiplatform, specially ipad centric). Which would justify the price point and years of marketing about it is the next gen of computer (which it should be now)

2. Macbook with (MacOS)

So basically it's exactly what you should expect from an apple product- good, but not good enough to replace the more expensive option even if it could
well said
The worst part is that all the issues are basically easy to fix
It is exactly what Apple claims: a complementary device to a MacBook. Apple cannot help people that do not understand the reasoning the ipad exists, and want it to be more when they should know its limitations.
Bros talking as if the iPad has any hardware limitations, it's literally faster than a full fat Mac, this is just apple being greedy and stuff like the mouse and keyboard not working is so stupid, if this was an Android tablet people would be like "this is why I use apple"@@andyH_England
@@andyH_England and it works perfect as what it is. I can use it as a singular device at Uni, work on the same files on my MacBook or put them next to each other and they will connect and I can use my iPad as a 2nd display or whatever I need at that moment. I totally understand that people say, Apple is expensive, because yes, true. But Apple does not lie to you about that. Apple is a luxury brand and if you want the whole experience, you need more or less all products. I don't need the Watch because i don't like watches and since I don't have a TV, I don't need the AppleTV and my homePod is unplugged for month now, because it is too loud for my small room and Siri sucks.

"My IPAD is my travel computer"... Apple knows what they're doing IMO, they don't want you to replace your mac with an IPAD especially as a pro user 😂😂😂
I partially agree to what you say. But after paying such a premium, you can't say to the user, hey you are not supposed to connect a mouse to the iPad given that it supports that feature. If Samsung galaxy support Dex, people should expect it to work even though only 1% or less will actually use that feature regularly
This is 100% what it is. If they gave iPads MacOS, they know their Mac sales would die. They aren’t going to cannibalize their other products by making one too good.
They even disabled messages on ipads so we would still Need iPhone even with cellular
I think they just want you to only get original expansions
Influencers always come up with the "see if I can replace laptop" but it always ends the same. The hardware is there looking ago, but a greedy corporation just does not want to endanger their bottom line. Writing this from an iPad pro that is only good for drawing, note taking and watching videos like these.
It's something people, not just "influencers" want to know every couple of years. As a regular consumer you see all these cool improvements, and incrementally you start to think, is it ready yet?
I’d rather they never make it like MacBook
Thankyou! As a student I bought the ipad to replace my laptop while being able to take notes and Lord help me the amount of times these apps have caused issues 💀 Resorting to the browser doesn’t always work either because it just redirects to the app or the app store… It’s frustrating how it’s ALMOST there but not quite
I still regret my decision from four years ago when I chose an iPad Air 3 over a laptop, thinking it would meet most of my computing needs. Despite Apple releasing many new features with subsequent iPadOS versions, they haven't addressed the issues you've highlighted in your video. I really hope Apple listens this time.
They won't listen. Their advice: Just buy an additional MacBook. Unfortunately.
"Apple listens"... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Very funny. As long as Apple users continue to pay money for “products with compromises,” Apple will not change anything. Why bother if Apple users will buy all the crap that Apple produces?
I remember buying the 2020 iPad Pro which was sold as a "laptop replacement" but after not being able to connect an external monitor with a 16:9 resolution (limited to 4:3) and extending my screen (only could mirror but iPad had to be on), I ended up buying a Macbook. It's totally on purpose.
They did fix that though with Stage Manager
@@Isengardtom Wasn't "fixed", they just enabled it on the M1
Okay, so here's the deal: the new iPad? It's cool, no doubt. But let's be real, when it comes to serious work, like editing videos or doing some hardcore coding, laptops still rule. Don't get me wrong, iPads are awesome for on-the-go stuff, but sometimes you just need that laptop power, you know? Still, gotta love that iPad portability!
Yes, I have a laptop and iPad as I am aware that both have pros and cons and that buying both means no compromises and the best of the best as no doubt the iPad Pro is easily the best tablet in the world, by some margin.
Genuine question not trying to be an ass, what are the benefits over just a phone? Cause if it's portability, I'd imagine a phone would be a lot easier to carry around. I can see how a laptop and a phone are completely different for different situations, but when it gets to an iPad or a phone isn't it just a bigger phone that's can't fit in your pocket - someone who's never owned one
the problem is that the Ipad pro has the necessary power but is hamstrung by the software limitations and Apple's greed
That's the great thing about iPads: there isn't really a single thing that an iPad does excellently (outside of illustration and art), but it does most things pretty capably. You wouldn't take a photo with a Macbook, and you wouldn't write an essay with an iPhone, but having a device that can do both well is pretty valuable.
@@justhaku9240 The advantage of tablets are that they are a bigger phone and for those of us that are older they are a much better user experience than a 6-inch smartphone. Laptops are great if you need professional apps, but the majority of us just do casual computing tasks and an iPad is far superior to a laptop and a much better user experience than a phone. There is good reason ipads have sold around 700 million in the last decade!
4:54 - 5:38 Handy tip, may not exactly work on yours but does for my ipad:
If you’re getting an image from the browser, tap and hold it, should come up with a menu that includes ‘same image to photos’. No screenshots needed. I use a Windows laptop, but I agree with everything about the Ipad as a travel computer. I use it for notetaking and other assorted computer uses (with minimal fuss) for college classes, and its incredible for being able to handwrite annotations onto documents. I just strapped it up in a folio case off amazon and have been using cheap 3rd party Bluetooth keyboards since the official one's lack of case compatibility made it a no go for me. My main issue is struggling with transferring files from iPad to my laptop, but a large part of that is definitely the Apple walled garden at play. I initially got the iPad mainly for mobile gaming and digital art, so being able to use it as a second computer is a great bonus and allows me to carry smaller bags around during the day.

100% its expensive but i have never regretted buying it!
Wow, every other youtuber reviewing tech or the ipad does not look at all these limitations i think. This is the best so far, better than all. Keep it up
I dont think its that they dont look at these limitations. Its that these limitations are whats expected and accepted. Like a gaming laptop with a 4090m where its expected you cant actually run full power unless plugged and that your battery life is absolute crap unless you can turn the discrete gpu off.
As someone with an iPad, the safari tab rearranging does indeed work, you just need to pull it a bit down to move it. Also, the gmail can be fixed with split screen so you do can both and it is surprisingly easy to do if you just get used to it.
When I found your channel I wanted to buy a phone and an informative opinion was really needed. And my good sir, you came through. You had 3 million then, your up to 18 now. Thank you to you and your Team for all the beautifully entertaining and informative content you create for us
0:36 you really couldn’t have had it handed to you normally? OUUCHHH 😭😭
In the world of Mrwhosetheboss? No, impossible, It simply must be thrown lol
Hopefully the carpet saved it a little bit
@@AGVYT that would be ideal for my peace of mind 🥲
Mrwhosetheboss: I've been watching your videos for the last 5 years. I just want to say thanks for uploading always.
You dint even watch the video before commenting
@@JezzyCrazyTV I know, was just saying thanks.
Congratulations bro on your wedding ❤
This is the most expressive and honest review I watched. That's why you are a Pro TH-camr.
Honestly as someone who has been using an iPad and MacBook for a while I haven’t had an issue with many of these problems. It’s mostly just getting used to the iPad fixes a lot of these problems. Good luck
That "WOW!" hit HARD in that scene 3:10 😆💀
Congratulations on your wedding Arun 🎉
10:42 You might know me as Arun, But online, im actually Emily 💀
Hey!!
Do you stalk other guys?
Roses are red, violets are blue , arun always finds a way to rick roll you. 😂❤

Thx for this honest review. I ended up going wigh a Samsung S tab 9 and I am surprised how much it has improved on my s tab 8+. Cost only 639 euros with 256 GB too.😊
I am using iPad as my primary computer since 2015. I never had these issues. I first used iPad Air 2 WiFi only with Bluetooth Keyboard from 2015-2021. I needed to change Keyboard for three times. Then in 2022 I went for iPad Pro 11" WiFi with a Smart Keyboard. No problem😊.
8:45 i felt like the Apple Pencil was about to fall off 😂 and i was right
Finally! someone did speak up about these frustration. You did it so well man. Good job! I've been a M1 12.9' pro user for 2 years now, The things that you highlighted are the things I just realized, Yaa, These are the things I've been facing daily.
I wanted to switch to the iPad, now I need to rethink that. Thank you for your review, thank was really helpful 👊🏻
He failed to mention, in my opinion, one of the worst things when using an iPad... file management, it's actually horrible, there are apps to get around it, but combining the poor mouse/keyboard experience and the poor file management, there is no way you can use it as a professional.
My 9th gen iPad (which worked perfectly with a Bluetooth non-Apple keyboard that was ultra-light and really thin) was damaged after a hefty fall and the bezels on the left are folding inward. Despite it being still half-functional, I need a new one. And this is the first video I see in the morning. 🎉🎉🎉
Edit: The new iPad is actually thinner than some screen protectors 😭
How’s he gonna tell Apple they need help then overtake them in subscribers😂😂 Let them get up!!🤣
Finally, been waiting for this video since a long time 😄
I love how Apple is always pushing the iPad so hard. Its main purpose? Keeping toddlers from developing full brain functionality and creativity, getting them addicted to brain rot and brand at such a young age.
Had an iPad since I was 8 yo. Now I’m in law school in a top 5 university in my country, imagine If I had a fully developed brain lol
It depends what your child is doing with the iPad tbh. If you have it to them with nothing but learning applications then it be fine but if you give it to them with full access to media you are fuck. The parents are the issue at the end of the day.
@@bcbg.8201Law is just memorizing stuff. Come back when you have a real degree, STEM.

Had an I pad since I was 5 and I broke it and then used the family laptop for gaming and it just made me realise how powerful Macbook pros are becuase before I was pushing the Mac to the max but now that I don't holy it's gaming capability of apple allows games like apex on Mac os
Apple reserved the calculator because it's the only feature they going to use in selling the IPad, This is the most honest review I have ever seen.. while other reviewers were shying away from this truth,
However looks like Apple heard you and finally added calculator, I will be waiting for your next review to see if other issues you mentioned are being resolved.... Bravo!!!
Thanks for the constant great content (:
I suspect those quirks which mean it can't fully replace a mac are intentional - Apple want to get it good enough that it feels like an upgrade but don't want it to take away purchases of mac - they want their cake and eat it. 🤣
Failed on me, I'll never buy an Ipad
I have been using my iPad Pro 11” 2018 as my only computer and I have had zero issues with it. If it doesn’t do something I want, I work out a work around and keep moving on with my day. My whole “laptop” setup fits in a cross body bag that attaches to the back of my wheelchair and I barely notice the weight. When I had a MacBook Pro I couldn’t carry it in a backpack on my wheelchair as it made my wheelchair top heavy and I fell backwards out of my chair many time. I love my iPad so much that he has a name ❤
Im also rocking my iPad pro 1TB 2018 🙌 Working just fine, although i use mine more as a secondary device as well since I need my MacBook Pro for the stuff I do. It is a Great device even for the 2. Gen 🙂↕️💯
@@amalias7548 totally agree 👍🏻👍🏻
I wish I could say the same, I ended up buying a 2019 iMac (in addition) because the iPad glitched so much when using keyboards or switching Mack to the onscreen keyboard. It’s my 3rd iPad (thank you applecare), they all suffer from the same software issues, that the software was unfinished or inadvertently tested.
Congratulations on the marriage Arun
When he says "let me tell you", i keep remembering " let me tell you something- LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING " 🤣
That guy actually thought he's being executed

Pretty sure he was scared of bungee jumping and kept trying to back out. The vid is on YT

Very true. I agree with all points.
Also great video as always ❤
Sorry Mr whosetheboss... I'm not an apple fan ,but I love your content anyways! Keep up the good work!
Its crazy that i remeber when you had 500k and now 18m subs .. i love your content
“I was right, at least about that part” Made me unbreath for a sec there😂😂😂, cuz i knew what was about to come
Btw, these kind of reviews are the benchmark now. I love this style.
havent seen a “dear tech company” vid in a while, thats cool
Best in depth review about the iPad i have seen till the date. Keep up the good work man ❤
That scene where 😂 pencil falls off and he says am getting to that!!! That some expression 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This thing is still very much just… made for touch
That’s also why the pointer is meant to just be a shadow of your finger
Theres a lot of tricks you can do. You mentioned multi tasking well there is a function for it. TH-cam is your friend theres many videos on how to use the ipad m4 to the max
