wish the headlights could be changed. And the seats and steering wheel. Leatherrete=plastic leather with horrible lumbar support. Plastic steering wheel=grit 300 sand paper. But maybe they changed this with the newer 2021 model,

I expect that once the Berlin Gigafactory starts making Model 3s that the build quality will improve. The Shanghai Model 3s arriving in the UK, Australia and New Zealand are better built than the Freemont made ones.

I hadn't heard they would be making the model 3 in Berlin; I thought only model Y. It will be interesting to see if the price will be affected for us Europeans when they are produced there also. Let's hope they improve build quality also. Makes you wonder why Elon didn't bring over some Germans to USA to sort this in the first place!
Have always bought hatchbacks as more practical than a sedan; so the model Y would be my choice.

If the construction design is a failure then sadly there is not much room for improvement. E.g. sharp edges at the trunk door - Min. 1:12 - There is simply no material to cover the metal by design.

Recently test drove the Model 3.Thomas does an excellent job summarizing the car feel and imperfections. As an older driver, I might also add an extra concern - the fonts on the screen are small and difficult to read. I've seen Tesla forums totally devoted to this problem. Nevertheless, I wish Thomas had reviewed the voice command system more thoroughly. It seemed to work well on the car I drove. I think voice is the best way to operate to minimize driver distraction.

You can do separate AC by hitting the sync button. Charging speed is ok if you precondition but not so good at non-supercharger. Several other EVs catching up and surpassing at charge speed (but they tend to be less efficient)

If the battery is warm (preconditioning before leaving in the morning helps a LOT) and you precondition to the charger you can charge quite a bit faster. Same spec but with the 60kW battery I’ve done 11-60% in 14 minutes, the charge curve is similar from 20% so should be under 20 if going 20-80%.

Well done again Thomas! I remember you saying that you don´t feel "in unity" with the car (in the comparison video LR - Polestar 2), and I had the same impression when testing the LR. Would you say that the SR+ model scores better in this respect due to the 18" wheels where you mentioned that the ride comfort is improved?

great video thomas, as always. i think where tesla are succeeding is the charging network, ease of use etc, insane acceleration and the self driving tech. beyond that, and i look at the glass roof and i agree it just doesnt work in hot climates. if they had the option of solid or glass roofs i think tesla would vastly increase their sales. quality also seems to be hit and miss, and although the teslas of late seemed to have improved in quality, i would not consider them to be luxurious, even though they are priced like a luxury car.

if you upgrade the suspension and put better tires on the model 3 performance it can outperform a Taycan Turbo S with semi slicks on the track. the model 3 is is also more practical (longer range, faster charging, safer crash rating).

If you're looking for real fun and a decent experience all together, get the Taycan. Supercharger network is neat though (:

Thanks for the review. I am aligned overall. I tested a Model 3 LR last week, but the day before i was also testing a Merc. GLC and E220D. I must say that comfort and silent of the Mercs were way more superior to the American one for similar price range. That was a real deal breaker for me although i liked a lot the Tesla and the power (and the crazy constant Torque!). I agree with the kind of "artificial" steering wheel feeling, and I was also not fan of the central screen. For now i would prefer to get a used Mercedes rather than a brand new Model3, and wait until Tesla improves those areas, or that another historical manufacturer release a descent and affordable EV.

Please, i need some “profissional” help (honest opinion) here. I am a taxi driver in Portugal, and i’ve reserved the Toyota BZ4X. But as you know, i need good backspace for passengers and i need a big trunk space. So now i am in doubt of buying the Toyota or the Hyundai Ioniq 5 (same price - but with leather seats and Bose sound), or wait until the upcoming new Niro EV (cheaper). My favourite was EV6 but only next year is available, and don’t have the same praticality of ioniq 5, and I don’t now if the range is so much better. Toyota don’t have a frunk neither a glove box. Can you help me telling me what’s the best car (brand) in terms of range, Technology (security) and realibility? Toyota warranty is 10 years or 1.000.000kms, and that for a taxi makes me think twice. I am afraid that the cluster visibility is not good because of sitting positition. With that said, does the Model 3 do the work? It is without doubts the best? Many thanks. The Germans are rightly proud of their automotive heritage. The EV era has arrived and their industry will adapt. I notice that the big 3 are trying to stake out the high ground but EV's are sensible in nature and they may encounter resistance in making very expensive models like the Taycan and EQS. Tesla is clearly showing the way in moderately priced EV's.

I am surprised that anyone would routinely drive their Model 3 in "chill" mode. You can drive in just as smooth and relaxed a fashion in "standard" mode ... all controlled by the right foot of course! If you drive at the same speed and use the same level of acceleration their is no advantage in terms of efficiency (range) being in chill mode. Also, if you have a situation where you really do want/need to use maximum acceleration you can do it instantly.

Hey Autogefühl! I like your reviews, but it has to be stated, the Model 3 is one of the best selling BEV worldwide, but NOT the best selling BEV in Europe or Germany. Best selling BEV last year in Europe: Renault Zoe. Also there is one simple fact, why the Model 3 still remains its top selling position as a BEV, there is simply no competition in the midsized BEV sedan market exept for the Polestar 2. I'm really exited for the BMW i4 cutting into the Model 3 LR and Perf. customer base and get some competition going on. Also the price starts at 44,000€ (DE) not 40,000€ in Europe before incentives.
