    I have been interested in the Tesla Model 3 and the Nissan Leaf SV Plus. On November 1st, we went to Tesla and test drove the Model 3 and loved it! The Tesla salesperson was very friendly and knowledgeable. We then went to the Nissan dealer. The salesperson was not knowledgeable about the Leaf. I asked if we could test drive a used Leaf outside. She went to get the keys, but came back and said we can’t test drive it because someone “might be buying it”. I asked is there any used Leafs to test drive and she said no. I asked what Leafs will be coming to their dealership. She said one is on its way but it has been already spoken for. I asked if we could special order a Leaf, but she said no, we can’t. She told us to check back in a “couple of weeks” to see if more Leafs are on their way.
    We went home and I ordered a Tesla Model 3 RWD the next day, upgraded to exterior color black, black and white interior, and 19” sport wheels. The original estimated delivery was June but last week, it has been moved up to March/April. We are happily anticipating the delivering of our Tesla.

      @@TotallyEV I actually was fairly convinced I wanted a Tesla by the time we arrived at the Nissan dealer. I wanted to make sure by test driving the Leaf. My experience at Nissan just added to my decision to buy a Tesla. So, instead of a bad experience, I like to think of it as a learning experience.

    Just looking at the M3 order page (UK). Noticed some changes in quoted ranges. SR now up to 300+ miles, LR the same as before and performance down to 340. Does anybody know if these are battery or battery management changes? SR range now comfortably more than my twice a month longest journey without charging en route. Just thinking if SC network becomes open to more makes i.e. busier.

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed, we noticed them too after uploading the video; likewise with the naming.
      Could be firmware related - we noted it down in our detailed Model 3 review, and given there doesn't seem to be any news regarding the battery technology changing, it would lead us to think that Tesla has optimised the SR+. But again, it's intriguing to see the Performance drop some miles.

    • @nielsvandenkieboom5034
      @nielsvandenkieboom5034 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The new SR+ has the rear-motor from the Long Range Tesla instead of the Performance rear-motor. This makes it about 0,5 seconds slower 0-100 km/h, but also gives it a lot more range. Hence, the numbers for the WLTP test-cycle have changed. Also, as a current SR+ owner from the Netherlands where Tesla is doing the supercharging pilot for other brands. The other brands hardly ever use the superchargers, they pay a significant premium in comparison to Tesla owners. They will have to pay about 3x of what Tesla owners pay, so they will most likely only use it in emergencies.

    Hi! May be a stupid question but is it possible to charge a Tesla Model 3 standard range at a tesla supercharger that supports 250Kw?

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's not a stupid question at all.
      Yes you can, HOWEVER, the M3 SR+ (or RWD) is limited to 170kW; on a V2 supercharger (running max of 150kW, as shown in the video), you'll run 150kw input out of the possible 170kw.

      @@TotallyEV perfect thank you for replying! I currently own a Golf R but I am finding I spend a lot of money on the vehicle at the moment so want something more economical….so would look to lease a Tesla. With regards to leasing, would you recommend the SR+ or the LR? (I do around 250 mile a week however there are chargers in my workplace)

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jordanblandford6555 really depends on you between the two models; as mentioned in the review - the LR gets you better range, performance and audio system (among a few other things). But if money is an issue (when isn't it an issue haha), then get the RWD model instead. 250 miles a week on either car is easily doable, especially if you can charge during the week at your work.

    I am taking ownership in February 2022 of a Tesla model 3 RWD LFP FSD MIC with white seats!! I went for the RWD because I drive very slowly. And the price was just spot on!! I am a firm believer than in 2 to 5 years the FSD will double its price at least!! So between AWD with no FSD or the RWD with FSD, for me the option was a no brainer!! It's a more future proof configuration!! Price wise, I wanted to keep it under £50K. Cheers from Hainault!!

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing and congratulations on your order!
      Did you trial Autopilot on the UK roads? What made you get FSD?

    • @americotomas4889
      @americotomas4889 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TotallyEV well... I haven't driven a Tesla Car yet... My decision was based on the direction FSD will shape the way we move around. And the sooner I get a lifetime of the car license (I usually keep the cars for more than 15 years), the cheaper it will be. Once Tesla cracks the FSD and we have level 5 of autonomous driving, the price of the license can cost up to £15k!!
      I am a software engineer (mobile apps... Not AI). But the amount of data that Tesla has and the release cycles frequency is so high that in 2 to 5 years, we will have level 5 in the UK (and in most of the world). Tesla next expension is China after US.
      With the robo taxi network on the horizont, I might just use the 1 million miles battery and use the car as if it was an AI Uber driver pretty much!! All the way to the end.
      Last but not least, because of the price of the license, I wanted to get it in the Tesla loan to buy the car. Otherwise, I wouldn't know when I would be able to get the FSD.
      Therefore, FSD is a great investment!!

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Guessing in terms of investment it's not a bad idea, although, level 5 coming to Europe or the UK in that time is wishful thinking haha! Thanks for sharing! :)

    • @americotomas4889
      @americotomas4889 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TotallyEV I wouldn't say so... In less than a year, Tesla is moving on from US (which is pretty much like Europe in size/economy) to China. 2 years yes, it is my bull case. 5 years In am pretty certain it is done!! That is way Tesla is already pushing towards robotics. They know that they are not that far off from having robot cars. They might as well use that expertise for humanoid robots!!

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@americotomas4889 it's not about the automakers, however, it's the road infrastructure. Forget about 5G, it's about the road layout and also how that works with automated systems. On large roads (motorways), it's not much of an issue, but every single test on A or B-roads will fail, similarly inner-city commutes (within Europe/UK). But potentially with advancements, we might see it improve?

    ET5 to dominate the entire entry-to-mid luxury sedan segment no doubt ! If you look at the quality (no gap between panels and no mismatched colors like Tesla cars), interior design and materials used, build quality, craftmanship, utility, range (topping Model 3's long range 334 miles) even in base model of ET5 already provide 341 miles (550 km) per full charge) not to mention highest trim's 1,000 km per full charge that is a whopping 621 miles!, service quality (where Tesla let you wait for months for available parts), upgradable batteries (where Tesla let you have your depleting batteries), exclusive NIO Houses and Places that let you enjoy exclusivity and enjoy time off from other things (which Tesla does not provide any Tesla clubs - you wish), and many other goodies of being an owner of a NIO. This is just no-brainer. I just don't see why Tesla will continue to dominate now that NIO's ET5 has said its "Hello World !"

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      While it seems great, it's not quite a globally-available vehicle. The ET5 is available in China and select few countries in the world. Correct us if we're wrong, however.

    Why are vegan seats always a plus point?

  • @bobbysega3839
    @bobbysega3839 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why is Vegan leather "a definite plus point"? The Tesla material isn't sustainable, 'compostable' or recyclable as far as I know., it's just vinyl isn't it? Which is a step backwards. Leather is a by-product, so as long as people eat meat in any quantity then it's available to use and it's compostable (obviously dependant on the processing). I understand why you'd not want it, but use a material that is carbon neutral, sustainable, organic & 'compostable'.
    I'm seriously considering the Model3 as my next car. The main thing putting me off though is the vinyl seats. They're OK and actually feel nice enough, but why use something that's so damaging to the environment? Why not look at some kind of organic material made from apple skins (like VW) or even coconut husks like BMW are doing?

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's a plus point, in our opinion, as it doesn't require animals being killed for the production of vehicles. Of course, the argument that if they are going to be killed for consumption is a valid one. Nevertheless, it's good to see variety in the automotive industry.

    • @bobbysega3839
      @bobbysega3839 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TotallyEV
      Variety & choice is all good, but let's not kid ourselves that plastic seats are a 'good' thing. Tesla aren't clear at all on what their seats are made from, they say it's vegan leather, but there's no legal definition of what this means. So likely a petroleum based product (basically plastic), so not at all sin-free and definitely not good for animals.
      Volvo shout loudly about their PETA approved recycled plastic bottle interiors and BMW & VW are banging on about apple leather and coconut husk interiors. These are the options that are a step in the right direction. Using standard vinyl seems like a huge step backwards.

From a personal point of view, I've never liked instruments in the centre (early BMW Mini, some Citroens, etc) and I'm even less of a fan of the "multi TV" look such as the Honda E. In terms of exterior looks, pretty much every EV available in the UK is better looking than any Tesla; but at the top of the tree I'd put the Ioniq5 or Kia EV6.
