21:10 My Model 3 is from September 2020, so pre-facelift and without a heat pump. I think we were caught in the same snowstorm this winter (I'm in The Netherlands) and the consumption on my car ranged from 18kWh to 20kWh per 100km of normal driving. The difference in energy losses is not negligible if you had 17kWh. Thanks for another great review that covers both the good and the bad on Teslas. This requires lots of knowledge, experience hard work and the right approach to reviewing, especially if you don't own one.

Always Love theses reviews, in depth reviews and non biased, just good journalism , always honest about issues, its good to see a gradual improvement from Tesla , the classic mainstream manufacturers really need to up their game on the technology front to keep up with Tesla , Tesla are catching up with build quality ( slowly) although I do wish they would redesign the exterior a bit more, whilst it isn't ugly I just find them a little bland, just a few more aggressive accents may set it aside from the rest !

The improvements in just one year are unbelievable and the best of it: my Model 3 delivered in March 2019 got updated to the exact same software version and I have all the improvements too, never before I had such an experience with a car!

A note on the phone key. For the Model 3 and Model Y (and the new Model S and Model X coming out soon) you do not need a cell signal for your phone or the car for the key to work. The connection is direct Bluetooth between the phone and the car.
For older Model S and X you do need a signal since the cars communicate with the phone via Tesla servers.
Keeping the key card with you as a backup is always a good idea though, especially if your phone battery dies!

As an owner of a red Model 3 Dual Motor for almost 2 years now in Switzerland, I'm surprised you didn't test the car's ability on snow - not just cruising Autobahns with snow on the hard shoulder, but try to get up steep snow-covered hills and minor roads. These situations are very important in all-round winter driving.
I have found the Tesla remarkably good in such situations. Also, the traction control is excellent. Try flooring it and instead of a rocket launch as in the dry, on snow the Model 3 simply pulls away without fuss...

I've noticed that in the US the Model 3 turn indicator lights are just as tiny, except they are red instead of amber. In the US, turn indicators are allowed to be red or amber. I wonder if it's a hardware difference on the US Model 3 or just software. I prefer amber, so it would be nice to be able to switch to amber if I get one.

20:00 Another use scenario for winter conditions is the "scheduled depart" option where you can pre-heat the car before you start driving. It should be a more efficient way. Those of us who can charge at home also suffer less from higher consumption in the first 15 minutes of winter driving. Regenerative braking also performs better in the winter when the car is preheated. Using seat heating also helps reduce consumption.

I have the same vehicle in Midnight Silver. Suspension is tuned to firm sports car standards and is just too firm for many people. I wouldn't mind it on the performance model but the two lower end models should definitely have more compliant springs. That said, I still love the car and ride. I've been in sports cars most of my life so it's not a big deal for me. In normal driving on decent roads, the car is smooth and quiet.
My favorite attributes of the 3 are the little things. Walking away from a car as it locks up, coming to a stop in traffic with no creep, superchargers.
    I'm in a special vehicle!

You said that you’d need to use the key card in a basement garage. Is that the case? I figured the app just needed a “local” Bluetooth connection to unlock the car (phone to car)… does it really need cellular data / cloud contact to use the phone as a key?

Really like the new S facelift, but the 3 is alright too. Only thing I don't like about the 3 is the sedan boot and lack of driver's display, otherwise quite a solid car for the price

I don’t understand why there are so many TH-cam videos with the subtitle referring to a FACELIFT, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 they all look the same, except the 2021 has futures like the chrome delete, the heat pump and the automatic trunk, so what’s the facelift?

You referred to loosing signal in the basement so you would have to use key card. Phone/car communication works off of bluetooth not cellular signal. Geographical location should not have any effect on it.

Nice review. I drove a 2021 Model Dual Motor three weeks ago. Much butter than the former models, but at the end I was not convinced. Performance, much more than I need. Very efficient, cheap. Looks better in real life than in the video. Steering, a bit too stiff for me. Komfort, ok, but not very good. Clarity very bad, espacially to the rear. Seats, i do not like the feeling. Back seats, like you says, bad, not for adults. The frameless windows rattle. And i do not like one pedal driving and the controls with the one monitor. I choose a more "classic" EV.

35:04 & 39:05 The screen luminosity/color scheme doesn't adjust based on ambient lighting? Like in those tunnels? It would seem like an obvious thing to do especially with a screen that big. A big blinding white screen when entering a tunnel is a big no no. Ideally, it would even adjust just before entering the tunnel based on navigation data.
39:48 Doing that once in a video is nice, but not everyday.

Great review as always! In fact I am so used to the segmentation of your reviews that I am actually waiting for everybody to have a door closing sound test or fake exhaust police. It must be hard doing reviews on a cold weather like this, especially when you have the driver’s door open to demonstrate sitting position. That’s why the steering wheel position demonstration was done with the doors closed in a much warmer situation! Greetings from Greece, a true fan here !

I find that even with 18” wheels with reduces air pressure is too harsh. That’s the main factor preventing me from getting a Tesla. Comfort is more important than sport to me.

    • @Oklm23
      @Oklm23 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@mart0225 I completely agree and this is one of the main complain of the M3 unfortunately. Also due to the fact that the Tesla M3 has one of the shortest suspension travel in its category.
