What was your first impression of Fairy Tail? How does it compare to other manga today?
Fairy Tail is just dumb fun , you have to just enjoy it
Blasphemy. Edolas is peak arc. The fight against Dorma Anim was one of the Best fights in Fairy Tail.
The 3 years silence was because Mashima announced the adaptation way to soon, when they were still in the negotiation process, so nothing really surprising there
The fanservice is not a problem. It fits because it’s in line with the established tone of the show.
The only reason fairy tail has hate is because of cringe one piece and Naruto fans that hate on it and didn't even watch anime
You had to be there, a lot of people just hated Fairy Tail just because it was popular to hate it, even if they hadnt watched it.
Overall, Fairy Tail is ok to meh in my opinion. While some of the hate it gets has good reason behind it I always feel like people harp on certain things that aren't really bad. One example is chapter 518 where people clowned that chapter so much over a very standard "I broke my body but I'll put everything into this final attack to beat the impossible" trope when there were other things actually wrong with that chapter and the one after it. Besides that I think fairy tail's strongest quality is that it has a very likeable cast and aside from fanservice the women get a lot of focus and development compared to some of it's contemporaries like Naruto or JJK.
Fairy Tail main strength for me is empowering simple characteristics, it doesn’t contradict or complicate them, only deepens and strengthens them with us understanding these characters better
100 Years Quest is better than the final arc of Fairy Tail though.
Dark Guilds is one of the most Undercooked concepts of the series
Fairy tails reputation to me wasn’t because the manga/anime was bad. I actually think it’s fantastic and it’s now my favorite anime next to one piece! It’s only because people who hate the series, people who were disappointed with it, (and people who didn’t understand it and complain anyway), dragged the series through the mud.
I fell in love with Fairy Tail on first look 11 years ago and that love still holds. Not a single other story in the universe has bonded with me better. Totally capable of seeing the flaws no worries lol but i still love it with my entire heart. So excited for new anime episodes <3
I loved Fairy Tail. I had issues around the Grand Magic Games. After that, I only kept up with the manga to see how it would end.
I think the issue is that casual watchers were feeling it and then pretentious youtubers (cough cough the anime man) set the trend of hating on it
FT was My first shonen anime. I owe it that much. So imma follow it and show it tough love
Fairy Tail was one of the shows that actually got me into anime, since DBZ, Pokemon, Yugioh, were all on TV especially on Saturdays but like when I was recommended Fairy Tail I loved it especially S1. I missed the magic circles and how much the animation has changed in S2 but I didn't mind that much but the more it was getting to the final season after how it ended and like the Mavis and Zeref stuff plus everything kept going downhill and I hated the final season especially how the final fight ended and how rushed it was since Acnologia was pushed to the back until the last minute and everything felt rushed when he was supposed to be the main threat. I didn't consume anymore of his content after Fairy Tail especially when my friend who dropped Fairy Tail to read Eden Zero and then dropped that as well since the writing is the same when it comes to friendship. I mostly loved S1 Fairy Tail and thought it would remain like that, it was a fun adventure show and had heartfelt moments. I never really had a problem with anything and when I was looking forward for Lucy to do something or do more she got cucked especially in the tournament arc when she was winning for random bs like just WHY? And I remember seeing discussions of how Lucy's clothes never fell off when she was in her original outfit but after she switched it, now all her clothes always falls off and that's mostly what happens to her character, I really wanted Lucy to do more ngl especially when she got that op magic skill and the ONE time she uses it, she gets cucked.
I think the new anime will bring back fans, i just hope that it gets the recognition that it deserves
Fairy Tail is one of my favorite Shonen and I’ll always love it, even if it does have some issues
I like Fairy Tail and the characters are great. I enjoyed watching it and am excited for the new season
