What does Soul Eater do better than Fire Force? What does Fire Force do better than Soul Eater?
FF does better at consistent spines unfortunately😅 (my Soul Eater collection always looks so off with the last few spines switching it up constantly...)
I think Fire Force Worldbuilding is much better than Soul Eater's. With all of Adolla, Doppelgangers, the countries being affected by the cataclysm and all of that. Soul Eater's world is interesting in its aesthetics but not so much in how its developed
While Soul Eater's characters feel more complete to me. I like Fire Force's characters but Maka, Soul, Stein, Death the Kid, Black Star, Crona, etc. are amazing.
Another thing that I think they are practically equal since they are so great is the power system in both series. It's amazing how Ohkubo can come up with all the powers being fire related without being monotone or boring, and how he wrote the soul resonance, the madness wavelengths, the death weapons special abilities, it's all so good

That's the thing. Fire Force is like the next gen Soul Eater.

For me they’re pretty much tied. If I had to give one the slight edge though it would probably be Soul Eater and mostly because of the characters and how likable, fun, and charismatic they are
The way I see it is whichever series someone gravitates to more depends on whether they prefer characters over story or story over characters. Like if characters matter more to someone they would probably like Soul Eater more than Fire Force, and if story matters more to someone they would probably like Fire Force more than Soul Eater. It’s the same with how people who think characters matter more than story will probably like Fairy Tail more than Edens Zero and vice versa
The core reason I like Soul Eater the most is because of the final fight. Fire Force's last arc was insanely good, but the last fight was just Shinra having a power up and winning with 0 problem. It would have been amazing to see the Kusakabe team "without the power-up" vs the final boss
That is what makes the Fire Force fight better to me, no actual fighting. Haumea had been suffering from the despair of humanity this entire time while also being a puppet to it, she was a victim. Shinra is a hero, he wouldn't hurt somebody like that. I love that his way of solving the problem was, "Throw every one of your problems at me and I'll try to solve them somehow."
I read Soul Eater over 10 years ago, Fire Force when it released, dropped and then later when it was about to end (so very recently), i can barely remember anything about Fire Force beside the twist ending while Soul Eater feels a lot more fresh and memorable in my mind.
So yeah, it's not even a contest.
Just seeing Fire Force or Soul Eater being appropriated was enough to make me Sub without watching the video first.
I watched FF, then finished it before I read Soul Eater... but the funny thing is, I actually started watching Soul Eater first, then stopped...
Anyways...
I'm more on the Fire Force side, since I'm a guy who freaking loves world shattering revelations and things that makes me question the real world I live in. And Fire Force did that more than most series I've ever read or seen. The idea of Pi, the concept of insects loving fire, the concept of doppelganger, and most of all, the twist about religion and how what you were thought or told all your life, could have just been lies cooked up by some entity to keep you corked and limit your potential and growth, while it feeds on you to lead you and whole race to certain doom.
It was an insane ride when I read it and followed all the characters as the uncovered the truth of the world.
But, I'll give Soul Eater the edge in character. I love Fire Force and Soul Eater, but neither of their MCs IN MY OPINION come close to Black Star's writing and growth. Shinra does. But Black Star is just Black Star. His fights, his growth, his goal, his ideals. He's like a mix of Shinra and Author. I guess that's why I just love his character so much. And why I think he's the best written in both mangas
As for fights. It's a toss-up between Arthur vs Dragon and Black Star vs Mifune... both had almost the exact same set up. Getting bullied and coming back insanely stronger to win and gain the absolute respect of who they fought. But I'll give Arthur vs. Dragon a 0.1% edge for having a fight that literally decided the very progress of the story and the perfect use of delivering a fight that had everything it promised to have.

TLDR, I think Soul Eater is the shorter more fun and whimsical read while Fire Force is the longer more intense narrative. I think I enjoy Fire Force more, but I love them both.

I’d put Fire Force above Soul Eater but I will add that what makes Fire Force one of the best is Soul Eater. By which I mean how the two are connected. Fire Force in terms of power system, world building, and writing is above Soul Eater. The big thing Soul Eater has over it is, like you said, the beginning of the story. I think you can make an argument it has a stronger cast as well. This is of course speaking to the manga of both. I feel like anime fans (at least for now) would say Soul Eater is better

According to the manga readers of soul eater the anime diiffers from the manga so depending on wether you are anime only or manga reader could also influence which you like more.
It really does. Similar to Fullmetal Alchemist (FA) and FA: Brotherhood. The manga was still ongoing as the anime, the anime went away from the source material (the manga), and the source material finishing after the anime ended(not 100% certain for both).

Since you showed a bit of Air Gear, maybe you can discuss Oh! Great's works like that and Tenjho Tenge. His artwork is amazing, but man does his storytelling and crazy amount of fan service really divide his audiences.

To be fair, the relative lack of Soul Eater's worldbuilding was something even Ohkubo recognized. That's why he made the spinoff series Soul Eater NOT, so he could expand on the world of Soul Eater even more than he planned to delve into with the main series. I can respect him for wanting to show off more of the world this way so as to not bog down the pacing of the main series, even if the main series does feeling a bit lacking in that aspect in isolation.
I love Soul Eater more mainly because of the cast, but as far as power system wise, fights, plot, and other things, I'd say they're about even for me

I'm really curious about soul eater but I have two problems, 1. The manga style just turns me off on the first flfew chapters 2.the anime apparently doesn't follow the manga faithfully so I dunno about it
The anime is very faithful up until about the halfway point, so one could easily watch the anime and the pick up the later manga chapters - the manga art gets fantastic!
I’d say Fire Force is a lot more fun to read but I think Soul Eater has better characters
I prefer Soul Eater for the sole reason that Soul Eater has Black Star. And that's the only reason.

I watched fire force first and i dropped it after season one. I tried watching season 2 but i couldn't endure three episodes in. Soul eater is better. It doesn't matter that I'm an anime only
