TRANSFORMERS G1 “Reissue” Superion Knock-Off Review

- The Aerialbots were introduced in the Transformers cartoon in the two-part episode “The Key to Vector Sigma” and were a super popular set of toys. This “reissue” set of the Autobot sub-group is a knock-off/counterfeit, but appears to be very true to the original gift set. Captain Kyle goes through each member of the team and merges them into Superion to check out the quality.
Built to offset the new Stunticon group that Megatron created, the Aerialbots challenged the Decepticons’ superiority in the air. Consisting of Slingshot, Fireflight, Air Raid, Skydive, and the leader Silverbolt (not the Fuzor), they had many adventures and, while Optimus Prime headed the team that created them, were instrumental in the creation of Optimus Prime. Time travel, am I right? This is a very cool recreation of the gift set of these toys and if you’re a G1 fan on a budget, a great way to fill in your collection.

Scary how authentic these knock-offs look.
I just got the g.1 metroplex knock off it's a great I never owned 1 of those
Fun fact: later on in Transformers, Slingshot was kicked out of the Aerialbot team for being a glory hog and he was replaced by Alpha Bravo, a young and optimistic Autobot who transforms into an attack helicopter
Slingshot transforms into a "Harrier jump jet" which is indeed a VTOL jet fighter. He's a source of pride for me as I think the Harrier is a British (navy?) creation.
Also, rubsigns were introduced via the Minispies (which actually had their own stickers on them in their original Takara releases) in order to get the public used to the stickers being both a gimmick AND a security feature. They were used, ironically, to distinguish official TFs from official Takara versions (Diaclone, official foreign TFs) and KOs. If a company copied the rub signs (which were expensive and hard to do at the time), plus the faction symbols, they could be legally at risk.
I'm glad I was correct on the type of jet that Slingshot becomes. Brain isn't as rusty as I thought.
I knew the minispies were the original source of the rubsigns, but didn't realize they were a security feature. Very interesting. Though before I sold off a good chunk of my collection, I wasn't concerned about having my Jazz and Sideswipe be actually Diaclone versions and I loved the official foreign TFs... I had the green and white Cliffjumpers, yellow and blue Windchargers... orange Gears... damn, I miss my old collection.
Me and my son have done the same review in our channel. I liked your video, you have such a beautiful voice. Keep this up !!!!!
Thank you! I will! And glad to see we have a new generation of fans!
“Hey I’m slingshotin over here”
I always love seeing these video can't wait for more
Well, I don't have too many of these knock-off reissues left to do. But I'm sure I can continue to upload something that's interesting.
Nice. Thanks for the knockoff reviews.
Man I cant wait to see your collection one day.
I just ordered the boxed and carded Aerialbots after having purchased the the box and carded Computron that is amazing so much so I didn't want to open them, they must have the original molds and dies from when Transformers were made in China.
Target Exclusive Autobot Combiner Tonkanator Would be a Good 👍Review!!
Hope they do this for all the G1 guys, diaclone dudes especially
i got afterburner nosecone and strafe from ebay for a good price i'm gonna get scattershot and lightspeed to complete the technobots
lol I still goof and mix up Skydive and Air Raids names. Love Air raids jet look so much I made a skin for the F-15 in Hawx for PC. Fun times.
Excellent review man. So, I found the solution to your black Devastator KO fist problem. I opened up the forearm and removed the spring then wrapped the fist post with electrical tape. The tape isn’t visible since it’s inside the arm piece but if you want to mount the chrome drill then you’ll have to tear apart the forearm and place the drill bit with some electrical tape. I’ve just received my KO Devastator and it’s great although some joints on the individual Constructicons are a obnoxiously tight.
It's definitely something to consider. I think I put them back in the box and would have to dig them out. Not enough room to display my entire collection, unfortunately.
Just bought devastator in a gift set for around £35 which was a great price
Do you happen to have a seller that you used for these?
I used the ramp as a shield for Superion to hold.
I'm sure Silverbolt has metal in his back. The rest have a metal chest.
I read somewhere they had all the plans for these toys in a warehouse or something and it all burned down.. what a loss!!
I found Silverbolt and Slingshot loose at my local swapmeet. In great condition but how can I tell if they are knock offs or legit G1??? I don't see any markings on them, is that a sign that they are knock offs???
It's difficult to tell the difference between legitimate Hasbro issued toys loose and these counterfeit ones. Most counterfeits have the same Hasbro or Takara stamp as the original. However, if you found some without any stamps, they may be from the Quick Change set. The scale may also be slightly smaller. The plastic does not feel as substantial. If that's not the case, and you find a stamp, then it's just about impossible to tell if it's fake. Ask questions of the person you get it from and that may help.
@@ToySpotlite yeah, found in a pile of loose toys. Thanks for your help!!
I did notice the package on metroplex g.1 knock it's not the right picture they got the 1 with shockwave in the corner grimlock In the bottom corner
I believe some first run Metroplex toys did feature that artwork on the box. Later releases had the series 3 artwork.
Does it have rubber or plastic tires?
@Toy Spotlite rubber tires and its a great action figure only difference is the box picture back I noticed from someone else's metroplex original different box art work mine is with grimlock shockwave and the inscectcons I love the action figure yes a Jeane claude lol metroplex can do lol
Well, they probably used the artwork from the first issue of Metroplex. It had that artwork with Grimlock. They also gave you a knock-off of the first run Metroplex. They started with rubber tires. Later, they switched to plastic. You got the good version.
@Toy Spotlite oh I didn't no that I'm very pleased with it ether way weapons shoot 3 drones fits most small transformers g.1 action probably the gobots ether way its great 👍
Ahhh, imagination. The stuff kids don't have anymore.
I still have it
why hasbro won't sued them the one who copying their toy design.
Although I can't say for sure, I think Hasbro usually go after companies that "overstep" their mark. Usually, it's when they get too popular. However, there might be several occasions where the KO company gets a cease and desist/legal action plus a "gag order" that stops the company from disclosing that they've had legal action taken against them. In that way, the "Streisand effect" can't take place (even though I suspect another company will easily replace them).
@@primalconvoy wow, true story, that is why the new kids want to play with classic toys.
I'm glad or else there wouldn't be ko reissues. Since Hasbro don't make these anymore. I wish they were cheaper.
Hasbro deserves to be treated like Crap that's all they are !!! They deserve worse than that!!!!!
@@johnnela8898gamefreak are the worst than hasbro, i am not hate hasbro, but hate gamefreak.
Why do you have so many fast cuts and move the toy around so much? I cant even appreciate what the toy looks like
I bought a KO version off ebay recently, the pictures were good, I was happy I was going to get this as I had it as a kid, what showed up was what wish is too good to sell, I am so disappointed
I am sorry to hear that. What was wrong with it? Can you return it?
@@ToySpotlite I missed the below in the details way way down near the bottom of the listing that is longer than a CVS receipt, going off pictures and item description I knew the stickers were obvious KO but I figured the molds were the same given the pictures. Absolutely they are not.
Not the Top Quality Toys for Collector because this is not the $70-$200 Transfomers, and if you do mind, please don't buy it. Thank you for your understanding.
Was it the Quick Change set? That is much more cheaply made, and I think the figures are actually slightly smaller.
That "Superion" chestplate is actually also Silverbolt's chestplate! You were never wrong in putting it on him
Heck if you look closely the chestplate has a specific molded pelvis for good ol Silvy
I asked for the Aerialbots gift set from Santa at the mall 3 years in a row. After not receiving it for 3 years in a row, I came to the realization that either I was a bad kid or Santa didn’t exist. 😂
The Easter after that 3rd year mom said,”Let’s go see what the Easer bunny brought.”
I replied with, “Mom, there is no Santa and no Easter bunny.”
Then she asked how I knew that and I told her the above story. 🤷♂️
Love you, mom.😂
Where can I get this version? I want it
