Got my G1 Soundwave secondhand as a kid. Always figured the weapons were missing until the battery cover was knocked loose one day, did not even know the cover could be removed until that happened
That's amazing, so nostalgic to see him sitting in the styrofoam with Buzzsaw, my favorite tape. His gold paint held up better than Laserbeak's red even though I used them the same amount. I had the rubsign version so it would be a perfect replica of mine. I thought your choice of a black and gold symbol for his chest looked fantastic with the deck cover having the tint and gold trim. Very nice!
I watch a couple of G1 Soundwave KO video and its seem that this new version was release around 2020 have the door spring problem .Older KO from a couple years back dont have this problem !!!
Ok well this will go straight to my Soundwave mausoleum, yes Soudwave was always my fav G1 Decepticon...but living in a small town in Italy when I was a little kid I never found him (there was a nice toys shop with a lot of TF but no Soundwave, they were selling out Soundwaves like fresh bread here in Italy!) so, yeah he have a little nice nostalgic spot in my collection.
I don't collect anything, but I have a life goal of one day finding a real soundwave somewhere, somehow with my son in the wild. It makes a fun scavenger hunt anytime we come across vintage toys.
Interesting! They used the first design for the tape door. I got the 25th Anniversary version with a different hinge and buttons. My first one was a brand new IGA released in 88 or maybe 89?, which was identical to the pre-rub sign. I am noticing the paint on the KO Laserbeak is more yellowish than gold.
I wish these KO companies would produce more chromed parts, to sell separately. I'm tempted to get one of these, just for that cassette door, but it seems a bit of a waste.
My copy of the Walmart reissue didn't come with the shoulder battery blaster. Factory sealed. Not a return. Just didn't have the one accessory. Such a total bummer.
@@ToySpotlite Thanks. I called the Hasbro customer service phone number back when it was available in store and the lady told me to return it. Didn't workout in my favor. I kept it because ya know, it's Soundwave but I'm hoping to find an accessory at some point on ebay or a reproduction.
Toy Spotitle - one of my most Treasured transformers is KABAYA - Takara Transformers Soundwave. model kit . he is all Blue , no paint w/ Different stickers. he is about 1/3 the Size of G1 Soundwave. has Molded tape door but has working "battery cover" for gun Storage. this pairs nicely w/ my KABAYA Preceptor in Diaclone B+W. BTW - I have "Lazerbeak" KABAYA kit as well , with ALT mode being Copper Meteor Ball. (from Takara Meteorman).
I have the same KO from china since 2 years now and I also have an original Hasbro Soundwave from the exclusive 2009 SDCC 5 pack with his 4 cassette mates. But the KO doesn't have to hide from the original. The quality is great in my opinion. I had the same problem with the tape door mechanism but I could fix this easy by inserting a new spring inside, because there was none in my KO Soundwave. Now the tape door mechanism works as it should be. The only negative thing are the stickers. They are not very durable. But this can be fixed by puting on better repro ones by ToyHax or something similar.
My Soundwave just arrived from the same Ali seller yesterday. Box has a small dent, though it was packaged very well. Buzzsaw legs and head are SO tight that I really feel like it will break if apply any more force. Same thing on Soundwave with trying to bring the hands all the way out and with bending the arms at the elbows. Very disconcerting creaking noises when I apply force.
I hate when its to tight for the holes ok some one had to say it and am just immature enough to do it plus was feeling left out . Thank you for another fun review is your cat ok didnt show on camera this time
@@ToySpotlite No, the one from the same seller you got the Soundwave G1 KO. I have both in my cart right now lol, and I want to know if OP is as good as Soundwave in your opinion.
I got a Black Optimus Prime reissue. As I recall, the quality was good except the fists were a little loose when you attached them in robot mode. That may not be the case with all the Optimus reissues. If they are loose, some clear nail polish around the posts on the fists should take care of the looseness.
LOL. Well, I hope you don't need the nail polish, but at least you know just in case. I just ordered some more G1 cars, so keep an eye out for those reviews. Thanks for subscribing!
I understand. However, given that some original G1s are either unlikely to be reissued again by Hasbro or not going to be reissued without modifications, I think these serve a purpose.
@@ToySpotlite and i understand this. the fact that it is being sold as an "original" bothers me. there should be as honest like APC toys with their TF:P KO´s.
Well, the sellers I buy from do identify them as KOs. But I do have concerns that people will try to pass them off as original. Which is one reason I point out the signs it's a KO. I would prefer more "honest" packaging and maybe a stamp on the figure to reveal it's not G1.

Me finding a G1 Soundwave that’s less than 50 dollars: *I WOULD HAVE WAITED AN ETERNITY FOR THIS!*
I just love how minty these are , like being in a time machine! :)
2:20 thank you for sharing this story sir. i lost a friend named mike too. he was a great friend.

I have the 40-years edition. It has Laser beak & Ravage included.
Would it be a reissue as well?

So sorry to hear that. Did you contact Hasbro? Even if they can't get you the accessory, they might send you something.

I still was dissapointed back in the day, that this version of the toy Soundwave did not look exactly like the cartoon version.
I just got the empty box from Ebay for a few bucks for my shelf and it looks awesome! KO looks great btw.
Ik heb een van de eerste takara her uitgaven van Sound Wave.
Nieuw in de doos gesloten.
Met extra cassette

Mine was very stiff. Maybe a little WD40 on a paper towel. The joints should loosen up.
Use the WD40 Specialist Silicone Lubricant.
Which Ali seller are you guys using? So many and hard to decide who to buy from.
I put the link to the exact seller and listing in the description. But the joints are very tight. Be aware.
But when are they going to be in stores?
These aren't. You need to order from Ali Express.
I hate when its to tight for the holes ok some one had to say it and am just immature enough to do it plus was feeling left out . Thank you for another fun review is your cat ok didnt show on camera this time
Of course you had to say it. Lol. And Skye is fine. She just decided not to make an appearance.
Did you also get the Optimus G1, and if so, is it the same quality as Soundwave?
Are you referring to the Walmart reissue that didn't come with the trailer?

You had a store??
Yes, in the early 2000's.
@@ToySpotlite just older than me
@@ToySpotlite where what was it called?
In Connecticut. Called Total Science Fiction.
What does KO mean?
Knock off. As in not produced by Hasbro or Takara-Tomy.
I really hope a KO G1 Megatron comes out. The official one is INCREDIBLY expensive and it's barely been reissued
That would be awesome. We can hope.
@@ToySpotlite fingers crossed, Kyle 🤞
The Takara stamp should show the difference I believe it's a little different then the real Takara stamp
or better be honest and not sell KOs as an original G1 toy.
i can't say it often enough, i hate these kinds of knockoffs that use original logos and names. If i buy this shit i would feel myself like a traitor.
