The Aerialbots greatest victory was helping Alpha Trion rebuild Orion Pax into Optimus Prime. "War Dawn" remains the best time travelling story of the Generation 1 series.
Honestly, when I watched War Dawn for the first time, I was not expecting that twist and was pleasantly surprised. Now that remains to be one of my favorite time travel moments in all of media.
Autobot combiners are pretty underrated in Transformers, I would really like these guys to make more appearances in the future and maybe change the group around by having Jetfire be a member.
I personally enjoyed Jetfire when he could combine/powerlink to enable flight for Optimus or any other autobot. I know a lot of people didn't like that era of the franchise but I always found it enjoyable.
Call me silly, but a friend got me CW Silverbolt as a present when I first started getting back into Transformers, and I've really loved the Aerialbots ever since.

And Starscream tricking them (inadvertently preserving the timeline) ha! What if Megs found out about THAT? Honestly, IDW's take in the team was great. Even in the face of losing the short-lived Barrel Roll and long time member Slingshot, they are always willing to defend the skies. (Although, appointing someone who is acrophobic as leader usually isn't a good idea)
War for Cybertron was my first introduction to the Aerialbots and since then they've become my favorite combiner team with Air Raid being my favorite member. Also, the team's spotlight episodes in the G1 cartoon are some of my favorite episodes.
I’ve always imagined a Transformers movie in my head where the opening scene has the Aerialbots engaged in dogfights with the Seekers with Mighty Wings by Cheap Trick playing in the background.
Everytime I even hear Cheap Trick's "Mighty Wings", the Aerialbots always spring to mind. In my mind I can see all five of them doing stunts alongside my OC, a femme named Stormchaser.
Air Raid: The fun one. Fireflight: The dreamer. Skydive: The smart one. Slingshot: The insecure asshole Silverbolt: Flies, but is too scared to do so, so Optimus made him leader.

Silverbolt has been one of the few "Combiner guys" who actually got to shine in G1. He has a few moments in various comics from multiple companies, and while not the same character, a star turn in name in Beast Wars. It's also fair to say Superion is the Autobot version Devastator, the most acknowledged Good Guy combiner.
Silverbolt was always my favorite among them as far as characters went. He had a relatable fear, and he was very likable, always trying to keep his teammates erm...grounded, in a sense lol Plu shis character really shined in the episode War Dawn. and having grown up knowing only the Beast Wars Silverbolt, I can proudly say that that character honors the name very well.
I've always had trouble telling these fellas apart - the similar altmodes and colour schemes make putting names to faces difficult - but I am fond of Skydive; he's got the most unique colours with that gold face and his "military history nerd" personality is a lot of fun. (Also, more things should use IDW's thing of having the combiner refer to himself as "the Superion". It rules.)
Yeah agreed, when it comes to Combiners, the Constructicons, Stunticons, Aerialbots, Protecterbots and Technobots have always blended in too well to have any real uniqueness to them. Same unfortunately goes with the Rust Renegades. Now the Combaticons, Predacons, Terrorcons and Seacons on the other hand...
At least the Aerialbots had their own color schemes to diferenciate them, the Constructicons and the Rust renegades all shared the same colors, making them harder to make a difference, however it made their combined forms look better.
I have waited for a Basics on them. Thank you. But now you'll have to probably do Silverbolt himself. Next you should do the Stunticons, especially Breakdown.
I love the Aerialbots1 They're my most favorite Transformers. I still have the toys. I enjoyed playing with them. I loved every episode they appeared in the Generation One cartoons and Scramble City & Headmasters.
I remember for the longest time when I first starting the Basics these guys being heavily requested, so glad they finally got their due. What always struck me about the Aerialbots was always their Combiner name: SUPERION. That sounds just so laughably try-hard and compensating.

It worked for him like it did for Optimus Prime Soundwave and a few others like most of the Combaticons, Bruticus, and Grimlock, my point stands. Keep Fireflight's face plated.
@@misterbadguy7325 Although the artists making the character model did make deliberate changes, too, some of the changes were due to the fact that they didn't always have access to the toys. (I don't know if they EVER did.) Sometimes all they had were poor quality black and white Xerox copies of photographs that obscured a lot of the details.
Love the Aerialbots so much. My love for the team first started as a kid when I was collecting Transformers, and there was an offer with Weetabix to send-off for Fireflight and the Stunticon Drag Strip. From then on it was collecting the entire set of Aerialbots and Stunticons, then being fortunate enough to watch The Key To Vector Sigma & War Dawn on VHS. The Aerialbots were definitely in my Top 2 combiner teams. And Silverbolt was my favourite Aerialbot in the cartoons/comics. His character was always explored prominently, and because I share his fear of heights, I found Silverbolt inspiring.
These guys were my second favorite combiners after Devastator, because while Devastator had SIX robots to combine, Superion just looked really cool. Of course, that was g1. 1980's toy engineering does little to rev my engines nowadays.
The Aerialbots are my favorite combiner team, and I shall always have a soft spot for the OG G1 team as my favorite xD My favs tend to be Silverbolt and Air Raid, though Slingshot had the best character development stories. Nothin' like befriending an Arabian prince, shutting down Swindle's operations, and getting repaired with the grill to said prince's Rols Royce :3

As some of the earliest Transformers I can remember my brother and I getting, I have a special fondness for the Aerialbots. Their Gen2 versions were the only combiner team we had the complete set for until we got Magnaboss & Tripredicus from BeastWars. Air Raid and Slingshot were mine, though Slingshot fell victem to GoldPlasticSyndrome, leaving Air Raid the one I played with the most. When the Combiner Wars toys came out, I bought them all up in a fit of nostalgia but then a short while later I saw the box set of the Gen2 colors and snatched that up too. Even now that I'm over 30, the Aerialbots are some of my favorite toys to play with and Air Raid's ability to equip 8 guns (2 in each hand, 1 on each arm, and 1 on each wing) keep him as my #1 Autobot jet.
As a kid of limited funds during those halcyon (maybe) days of the 1980s, I managed to get Air Raid and Silverbolt. I supplemented Blades from the Protectorbots and I later found a G2 Skydive. The last limb was Rippersnapper, it was what it was. Ghetto-perion was a go!

My favorite member of the Aerialbots is Air Raid, a fun-loving guy who happens to share an alternate mode with most of the Seekers, the F-15 Eagle. Plus, in War for Cybertron, he mentioned how he thought he was going to lead the Aerialbots instead of Silverbolt, but adjusted to his command.

Ironic, but one of my favourite moments of original G1 cartoon consists Aerobots. It's moment of Sparkplug's motivation to them ( but favourite part is when he helps Ratchet. It just shows how Ratchet trusts his human friend into repairing Omega Supreme )
He might just share a name, but I loved Beast Wars Silverbolt. That noble knight characterization was just so perfectly done in the show. And that chorus of horns that played whenever he came on just so perfectly highlighted his chivalrous attitude.

Silverbolt was always my favorite, mostly because he was the most unique of the Aerialbots. I like how he survived into the Beast Era as the Eagle part of Magnaboss. However since Fuzor Silverbolt took the name, it must mean that the original Silverbolt went offline. Unless his spark somehow exists inside the Fuzor.

My Favorite incarnations of the Aerialbots is the original and IDW. Also Hasbro has recently required the Trademark on Slingshot name for Transformers Earth Wars mobile game.
I think "Hasbro lost the trademark of the name" has become as common as "offline for a cosmically powered Starscream."

His toy had one, his cartoon model didn't. Don't ask why; pretty much all the initial Scramble City boys have weird character models.

@@misterbadguy7325 Although the artists making the character model did make deliberate changes, too, some of the changes were due to the fact that they didn't always have access to the toys. (I don't know if they EVER did.) Sometimes all they had were poor quality black and white Xerox copies of photographs that obscured a lot of the details.
Love the Aerialbots so much. My love for the team first started as a kid when I was collecting Transformers, and there was an offer with Weetabix to send-off for Fireflight and the Stunticon Drag Strip.
From then on it was collecting the entire set of Aerialbots and Stunticons, then being fortunate enough to watch The Key To Vector Sigma & War Dawn on VHS. The Aerialbots were definitely in my Top 2 combiner teams.
And Silverbolt was my favourite Aerialbot in the cartoons/comics. His character was always explored prominently, and because I share his fear of heights, I found Silverbolt inspiring.
These guys were my second favorite combiners after Devastator, because while Devastator had SIX robots to combine, Superion just looked really cool. Of course, that was g1. 1980's toy engineering does little to rev my engines nowadays.
And 35+ plus years later it’s....better with a question mark? At least when it comes to the Combiners.
Now Superion also has six members, with the sixth becoming a gun.

The Aerialbots are my favorite combiner team, and I shall always have a soft spot for the OG G1 team as my favorite xD My favs tend to be Silverbolt and Air Raid, though Slingshot had the best character development stories. Nothin' like befriending an Arabian prince, shutting down Swindle's operations, and getting repaired with the grill to said prince's Rols Royce :3
I was just thinking the other day, in their debut G1 episodes, Prime mentioned that Alpha Trion gave his life so that 6 new lives could be born. How did Prime know about Superion as the 6th life?
Optimus Primes planned that the Aerialbots would have the power to combine since he got the idea of an Autobot aerial team.

As some of the earliest Transformers I can remember my brother and I getting, I have a special fondness for the Aerialbots. Their Gen2 versions were the only combiner team we had the complete set for until we got Magnaboss & Tripredicus from BeastWars. Air Raid and Slingshot were mine, though Slingshot fell victem to GoldPlasticSyndrome, leaving Air Raid the one I played with the most. When the Combiner Wars toys came out, I bought them all up in a fit of nostalgia but then a short while later I saw the box set of the Gen2 colors and snatched that up too. Even now that I'm over 30, the Aerialbots are some of my favorite toys to play with and Air Raid's ability to equip 8 guns (2 in each hand, 1 on each arm, and 1 on each wing) keep him as my #1 Autobot jet.
Slingshot is the worst, and so he's the best. Gives up on humanity because he watches an old geezer fall through a chair on TV. Never change, bud.

I never knew why but the Arielbots have always had a close place in my heart.
As a kid of limited funds during those halcyon (maybe) days of the 1980s, I managed to get Air Raid and Silverbolt. I supplemented Blades from the Protectorbots and I later found a G2 Skydive. The last limb was Rippersnapper, it was what it was.

Pretty sure "Barrel Roll" is a reference to Slippy. He's green, and, well, just look at his name! Betcha the bots favorite pickup line is "Do a Barrel Roll" lmao.
My favorite member of the Aerialbots is Air Raid, a fun-loving guy who happens to share an alternate mode with most of the Seekers, the F-15 Eagle. Plus, in War for Cybertron, he mentioned how he thought he was going to lead the Aerialbots instead of Silverbolt, but adjusted to his command.

Ironic, but one of my favourite moments of original G1 cartoon consists Aerobots. It's moment of Sparkplug's motivation to them ( but favourite part is when he helps Ratchet. It just shows how Ratchet trusts his human friend into repairing Omega Supreme )
He might just share a name, but I loved Beast Wars Silverbolt. That noble knight characterization was just so perfectly done in the show. And that chorus of horns that played whenever he came on just so perfectly highlighted his chivalrous attitude.

Watching this again after watching the Stunticon video. Kind of wish that when they fell to the cosmically powered Starscream in the comic it had been as Superion instead of in alt mode. It would have said more about Starscream's power.

Silverbolt was always my favorite, mostly because he was the most unique of the Aerialbots. I like how he survived into the Beast Era as the Eagle part of Magnaboss. However since Fuzor Silverbolt took the name, it must mean that the original Silverbolt went offline. Unless his spark somehow exists inside the Fuzor.

You forgot to mention Fireflights other name in the Kre-o Transformers. He was renamed to FireStrike. And also Slingshot was renamed to Quickslinger
The website, Toyhax made a set of detailing stickers for the G2 version of the CW Aerialbots, which included labels for Powerglide that had 6s on them.
My Favorite incarnations of the Aerialbots is the original and IDW. Also Hasbro has recently required the Trademark on Slingshot name for Transformers Earth Wars mobile game.
