How to remove a clutch without the tool.

- Im going to show you a neet little trick i figured out that helps out alot! Everyones taken apart an engine and been bumbed when they didnt have to tool for the job, well all be damned when i say its alot simpler and cheaper then a 30$ tool. All you need is a leash (or belt of some sort that you can wind in the basket.), then attatch that sum-bitch to the frame and your all set. Notice: its obviously going to be alot harder if the engine is removed. Please no unpleasant comments. If you dont like the advice given, move on to another video. Hey guys. I appreciate the positive feedback. Sorry about the "earthquake" i did this demonstration without any help and did not have a camera man nor a tripod. I appologize. Ill be doing things different in the future. This is just an old method i made up & it is quite simple. I hope it helps.

Tried this, and it worked, took a ratchet strap apart and used it. Tightened up on the basket and the bolt came right off. Worked on reassembly as well

Peter Pitsos thats actually how i ended up finding this little life hack. I broke one and said i had to find a better way.

I broke the basket too :P Then I tried this but it didn't work because it was really hard to do this since my engine is not in the frame but on my table. So I couldn't tie the leash anywhere so I had to pull the rope with one hand and try to open the nut with the other one. Also the leash kept slipping out of the basket as I pulled it

You can put an aluminium nut/bolt/plate between the basket and primary drive gear to keep the basket from moving and breaking a finger on the leash.
Thats not a bad trick, but they like to slip. Also if its been a minute since its been changed youll make your problems worse.

If the bolts over torqued it could break the outer fins.

it’s not working the basket is just spinning inside the leash
You have to mess with it a little. I sqeeze down on it sometimes to get it to grab & try to make sure your wrap it tight.

Well you would have to put pressure on the clutch pack in order for it to lock but yes
