This helped out a lot! I want to drift in fh4, but it is challenging. I'm used to arcadey games like nfs, where you almost don't have to do anything to drift.
*TO ALL EXPERIENCED DRIFTERS* Tomcat here is NOT getting proper angle to hold a drift in this game, with the uniqe physics that are somewhere in between Horizon 3 and Motorsport 7, it is stiffer yet much more stable than Horizon 3 so you can hold ALOT more angle. Also important!, id highly reccomend to experienced drifters to use SIMULATION steering on controller along with the DRIFT SUSPENSION. This allows you to whip in hard to full angle and hold incredable amounts of angle and then whip back the other way for the next drift and repeat. If you use this formula we have here really the best console drift game to date when it comes to enjoyability and realisim. (Except maybe FM7 as i have hardly played it at all)
Most important tip i can give is go for FULL ANGLE and use mostly throttle to control, and do not pull back the opposite way from your full countersteer to make corrections or steer/ change trajectory but slightly release angle on your countersteer/ temporarily reduce steering angle. Never let your wheels straighten out mid drift! Hope this helps those experienced in drifting and trying to figure out or improve in horizon 4 (:
Another tip is practice in cockpit view. The steering wheel will help u visualize the position of the front wheels and being inside the car gives u WAY better idea as to when the car rotates.
To be fair, normal steering is good too in the way that it is more stable but at the same time you cant whip the car at different speeds based on how hard you snap it and to me it hinders my angle and reverse entrys although many reccomend normal🤷 up to you i suppose. As for the question of manual id say DEFINITELY as in automatic obviously you will have gears jumping around automatically. Plus you really want clutch as well for clutch kicks, it helps to mess with your final drive to have a single gear you usually drift in or two gears u usually drift in (usually 3rd and 4th) 👍
Great video, this is how I basically tell people to do it: 1. Get a car comfortable to you and go through the gears how the car responds and wheels spin. 2. Approach at an appropriate speed around 70-90 km/h. 3. Go wide before turn. 4. Tap the E-break. 5. Turn in. 6. Throttle. 7. Feel the back end, can you give more gas to bring out the back more or ease off if you feel you're about to losing it? Pump with the gas if necessary to feel the levels of control. 8. Counter steer, more counter the more you throttle it in relation to the angle of the back end. 9. Hold the line. 10. Catch it and straighten out. It's easier to be more cautious and add little by little more aggressiveness than vice versa and find that sweet spot. Cars are different and some more forgiving than others meaning they pretty much do the work for you meaning so balanced that all you need to do is focus on the line and give some slight counter steer and the car do the rest. Around 500-655 bhp cars tends to. When you get up to around 800 bhp is when you need to work for it and eventually it doesn't matter like second nature, you push every car harder and you'll ride those sick angles like a true drifter. Getting some understanding for settings helps a lot to get the maximum potential out of the car.
See I came here to also learn gear changes, cos I always drive automatic. He's like, why would u not use clutch w/ manual... And I'm like... Why tf would you use manual.
The reason u play manual is cause its alot faster than automatic.. u also have alot more control of the car, especially for drag races and drifting.. also, for learning when to switch gears, just listen to the engine.. as soon as the engine roars, u switch to the next gear dropping ur RPM's.. if the car is making a repeatative rev, ur doing it wrong.. just practice playing manual/no clutch.. play with clutch after u got gear changing down

I think that's how I should be done
it would make things so much better
WillFulForza wouldn’t be much of a demo
Then it wouldn’t be a demo
WillFulForza that's the point man, if you could it would be the full version, and no one would buy.
Madmurderer then then they make it so you can only play the demo for a hour... so people can buy the demo, play it, svae it, and then they get kicked off after they have 1 hr played, its not that hard, its also not the full version
Yall need to think
please make a video of you designing and upgrading this car because i really wanna know how you made it look like that
30,000 subs with no videos challenge I have a lot of drift cars with perfect tunes 1000+ for most of them
Can we get a tutorial for automatic shifting. I haven't been playing for too long and currently the shifting is just confusing.
You wanna shift when the needle hits the red, id recomend using the stick to shift its the easiest way in my opinion
You don't want that, you need full control of your car
Before watching this video I drift using
TURN RIGHT TO GO TO LEFT

That why he use the focus 😂 😂
Thanks bro you are the best 👏👏👏✌🏼
This lesson is so much more fun than maths. #tomclass
Not understanding how anyone could dislike this video . This is highly educational!
@@allie5659 I'll try that out thank you for the advice
I always drive Manual with a clutch.
Trill Texas same! It adds way more control to the game.
Only dickheads use automatic.
Lumify | Gil THATS JUST WRONG! I don’t know how to use manual transmission, don’t accuse people of not knowing how to! I’ve never knew how to! For some people it’s tough! Don’t hurt people’s feelings with bad words just because they don’t know how to do something in a game! That’s rude and not polite! 😭😡
Mew 1. man up. 2. try something new and build your skills
Mew no ur just wrong it’s easy to use manual also
I can't understand why someone would say he is not teaching proper drifting because I can't drift at all however this video has given me a better understanding of what I am doing wrong. Thanks for the pointers. My opinion he never says this video was for exsperts who dominant at drifting.
Wow his drifting is not on point
At least its not as bad as slaptrain lmao
Thats true..is he teaching how to drift or how to not drift ? Ahahhah
Big NicK I think he’s showing us the correct methods of how not too first off that car doesn’t belong rwd it should stay awd and he should’ve picked a common drift car so when people watching this video see that they think oh that must be a good car which it in rwd in fh3 requires tuning to drift nicely which is something people new to drifting don’t understand
Alex Surh Slap drifts 10x better than TC.
@@kennethsev7243 nop his not drifting 10x better..but 1000x better
Love you bro. I spent like 3 hours trying to get the urus and when I watched this I got it first try :)
I already knew how to drift I just watched this for fun 😂😂😂
Nice video content bro, how about assist setting, which one need to off? Thanks
From a person who went to TH-cam when I was learning to drift in fh3 my biggest problem was terms and there definition because everyone used these words but never explained what they ment. Also I would learn with to drift manual without clutch first because it is simpler. One more button press might not sound like much but when you’re focusing on so many other thing that one more button will screw you up. Those are my criticisms on this video.
I'm somewhat new I use the hoonicorn v2 for drifting and I just watched to make sure I was doing it right
0:55 anyone else get it?
👇🏼
Do you use e-brake mostly on tight corners/turns?
Sebastian Vue yes but u can use it all the time it’s just as affective anywhere else usually what I do is press the clutch then let the rpms go up then let off the clutch and u will slide sideways
Thx for your help but I already learned how to drift now and the way you use the clutch is actually smart.
I find drifting with a controller very easy... but on a wheel with simulation steering I just keep spinning out.
Sim steer controller aswell man up
It really says something about modern racing/car sim games that hearing about drifting sounds like hearing about drifting in real life.
Very helpful thank you
That was the best drift tutorial I ever watched I didn't try this yet because I wrote that comment directly after watching this video but I will try drifting like you taught us. Keep up your great work. You're the best.
"you'll be using the clutch" *clicks off video*
Why
@@christiantaylor1495 because nobody gonna use manual w clutch on a controller
@@lynx5144 but loads of people do and this video has lots more likes then dislikes with over a million views so many of the million people who watched it must use manual with clutch on a controller.
I'm new to drifting and I suck. I'm building Silvia Spec-R for drift and this video will definitely help me out. Thanks
Who else can drift but still watched the video because you like him and the game
Me
I can drift somewhat only watching for better understanding so I can do better
This helped me a lot because i always oversteer or understeer because of my experience in FH2 because of how hard it was to get your car to slide
I think its good to turn off the traction control
No traction control, also no stability management, only leave on the abs
Drifting is something everyone can do but it’s hard to master honestly physically teaching someone to drift is hard but setting up a car right for drifting is usually the best way to learn
Instructions unclear crashed my mustang into a crowd
That's normal don't worry bro
Happens to me every week at least once.
Been trying to learn to drift so a vid like this is GREATLY appreciated! Pretty awesome!!
Is it bad that I’m better at making the tune then actually drifting
Me: Has a 150,000,000 garage value and almost always gets 80% season completion
Also me: Gets 0 points at every single drift zone
Do you lot think this game feels more grippy than the previous ones?
ImSamC awd drifting feels different. Maybe it’s just me...
SP1TFYRE 888 I was using a 1000hp RWD charger with 245 and it still felt too grippy
@@EupedUpp yea my fairlady z with the rb26 engine is super grippy, but I use the rx7 now which has better control and slides better
The RB maxed out in this game is so underwhelming, think it can only do around 700hp
Drifting feels way different to me. I use g920 wheel, can drift all forza games but this one coming out of a slide car is all over the place. I got better but feel this is the most difficult forza game for me to drift on a wheel, controller is no prob.
You explained the over steer and understeer balance really well to stop from spinning out. I understand what you mean but it’s not easy to explain, good job🙏🏼
This game is miles ahead of it's time.
тωιивlνdє as far as i checked it came out on october 2, we are as of now in october 4. What do you mean????
@@Fretzton you dont know what he means? I pity you lol. Also, if it was ahead of its time, the map wouldnt be as tiny as it is and the cars wouldnt sound like ass.
@ Mr. Bean you need to get your head out of your ass, i can see from here you cant think straight
If your drifting with a wheel use a softer suspension and front biased brakes, it ultimately gives you more control and you can drift at speed through the longer corners, it's good for a quick overtake on the inside or an outside overtake on a hill, also stops the person you just overtook getting back on the throttle if their car has better acceleration
you: focus on keeping that tire something something
my mind: i wonder if he said focus just because he's driving one
I am watching this over and over because I love this video
thanos car
*thanos car*
William Hepburn fuck off
Stop
nope ain’t funny
William Hepburn good boy
Stfu that meme is shit
Instructions unclear, my PC started drifting around my table
I drift on pc with automatic it's not that bad
as a burnout paradise player: huh?
Damn only 6 mins ago on a 2 year old vid
This guy defo watched initial D before making this video
i bought a BMW M2, made it 450bhp and turned off the TCS. Drifts so nicely.
If you watch this dude's guide on how to drift, you'll never learn it. Dumbass made a video for money and views. Not a single thing he mentioned helps beginners.
TheWarfare07 I’m a noob and learned nothing
It really helped me!!!!!
You made have to buy a focus rs.....
Thank You VERY MUCH This tutorial really helped me A LOT Once I checked in settings to see what buttons to press I got the hand of it much better
does anyone relize hes using the wrong tire compound real drifters use sport tires not race tires
lol not me i use race tires and they work fine i just like the look of them so why does it matter lmao
you suck a drifting then
and real drifters use stock or rally
@@Xero-rr2ol not really in this game that's not true. Stock or street put noooo power down all it does it bounces on the rev limiter and you get 40mph at most before you know it you're in gear 5 at 80 at best lool
Race tires in FH4 = sports or streets tires in F7. i run street or stock in F7 but they suck in FH4. The physics are different.
I use a whole different method where you can be faster but I implemented some of these things into my method and I can now drift like a maniac
Or you can just play nfs pro street or nfs unleashed 2 they tought me to drift well
Pro street was an amazing game
@@44boman not the best out of the series tho, nfs mw 2005, nfs underground 2, and nfs carbon
@@dream8870 idk, most wanted is over glorified, but that's just my opinion. I'll agree about underground 2 and carbon
This helped me a lot. I was drifting in manual without clutch mode. But this gives me a lot of control while drifting
turn off abs
does that really help? what about for AWD?
Tim Dead I don’t get why someone would ever drift with AWD.
Rally and for gymkhana like stuff. More speed out better control..
The main real reason I don't use manual is because I ran out of buttons on my controller😂 what is your controller layout? I need a good layout that has easy up and down shifting. Right now I have to press up on the left steering stick to gear up and down to go down... see how that could be annoying and impossible when your trying to gear shift and steer with the same stick?😂
now do it with a real car
@chilliberry Hold my beer
Bro you helped me alot how to drift in forza thx man appreciated it!
