    Kidney stone is by far the most painful experience I've ever had. Drove myself into town in tears. By the time I got to urgent care, two male nurses met me outside the door in the parking lot and had to carry me in. Passing it was brutal. I'm tough, but I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone.

      My doctor ( urologoist who just gave me lithotripsy a day or two before ) told me to go to the hospital with my pain . He said someone will be there with some great pain meds for you. Got to hospital. He couldnt be found nor anyone with the key to the lock on the frig where the medicine was. I was literally BEATING on the door to get back into the area where that frig was. Had to be pulled away. Cant remember anything more than that.

    Omg! I was gonna say lemon juice! I passed a massive stone all alone at home thinking it was my gallbladder because it was such a severe pain with a fever. Boy oh boy. I drank a cup straight of lemon juice in that little lemon bottle followed by 2 liters of water and later that day, boom I pushed...yes pushed, the stone was so big, I had to push the stone out...never seen anything like it and Im a nurse ..I never seen a stone so big. Yes, I got it from working long hard shifts while dehydrated.....but lemon juice definitely works.

    At the first sign of a kidney stone I didn’t know what was causing the pain, only that it was in my back. I went to the local urgent care center and they said that based on the location of the pain that I probably had a kidney stone. Their prescription was to go home and pass it. So, I went home and began drinking all of the water that I could drink. The pain began moving around my side eventually groin area and eventually it was gone. My suggestion for what to do at the first sign of a stone is to drink all the water that you can to flush it out.

    I have had 4 or 5 kidney stones. Extremely painful. During my last stone I learned about lemon juice. That was 6 years ago. I haven’t had a stone since I started drinking lemon aid on a regular basis. Every time I get a little twinge in my back it still scares me thinking another stone. But so far so good. The most important advice is keep your kidneys hydrated!

When he does feel like he has one he increases his lemon water intake and takes Chanca piedra (Phyllanthus niruri) also known as ‘stone breaker’ which has helped immensely, more than anything else he has tried. @@beingsshepherd Hi there, well I can't remember exactly, I would take about 2-3 tbsp of unfiltered acv with some water at least x3 (throughout the day), sometimes even more depending on the pain.. I'd usually start with more, until the pain gradually faded within a few days.
      I'd also drink lemon juices as well.. they work fine too, first time I got a stone I stuck to those since I didn't know of acv.. but acv is more powerful if you can take it, so I combine both remedies..
      Never passed an actual hard stone and I've been through this four times. I believe they dissolved as I 'd monitor my pee for a whole week even after the pain went away..lol
      what I got were the common calcium stones which are easier to break down but it's said to work well on the uric acid stones too
      Last time, I was feeling some mild familiar pulling back pain which only got stronger bothering me for about an hour.. had run out of acv so I rushed to the kitchen and sipped on some plain filtered vinegar, I could not believe my pain went away after 5 minutes! Saved myself the heating pad that night! You're extremely lucky if you catch it as long as it's still on the kidney, it sure works much faster in dissolving it before the pain kicks :)

    Thanks for this interesting information. Just a precision, if you started a kidney stone crisis with obstruction you should not drink a lot at that moment, otherwise it will make the pressure increase with unbearable pain while the kidney will go on dangerously swelling ... when the crisis recedes, then you can drink again more but cautiously... in the case of milder crisis with smaller stones, non obstructing, then you can drink more ... I have a history of 23 years of kidney stones ( oxalates) and the preventive information in this video is precious. On the curative side, the solution is lithotripsy, breaking the stones by means of shockwaves applied externally, non invasive...

Because right now I cannot take too much calcium as I am anemic and desperately need to bring up my iron. I have had a kidney stone in my left kidney for 10 years now could you do a video on what could happen to someone who has had a kidney stone in their kidney for that many years? They said it's 9 MM.

      D3 will increase your blood calcium, and vitamin C produces oxalates as one of it's metabolites, so neither are good for stones, especially D3, but vit C does help the absorption of non heme-iron I think. Why are you eating spinach for iron?! Get heme-iron from animal foods.

    For the first time in my 67 years, I now have a kidney stone, 18 mm in size. I began drinking fresh squeezed lemon juice a few weeks ago after watching this video. I am curious to know if it has reduced it in size or not. I am in the process of setting up a date for removal of it at the hospital. I was having the first three symptoms Dr Berg mentioned. I had a routine urine test in October come back indicating something was wrong. But urine cultures were negative for infection. And because my pain was intense around my hip area and not around the kidney, my doctor didn’t think it was a stone. Plus my first ultrasound in November missed it entirely! I also had a constant dull ache in my lower abdomen. I went to a urologist in January. He saw my urinalyses and immediately said the results are really bad and I need to be on antibiotics. He had the ultrasound repeated but at his hospital. That is when the stone was found. There must have been an infection from it, because the antibiotics really helped me to feel better. And the pain in my hip is much better since beginning the lemon juice everyday. So we will see what happens when it is ultrasounded again before its removal. Grateful for the information in this video!

      I am half your age but facing the same issue, my stone is 8mm in size. The pain was at the hip area as well. The ultrasound missed it, but luckily the doctor had requested me to do the CT scan because there was blood in urine. It's been 1 month since i diagnosed with kidney stone, now the pain from hip is gone but the blood in urine remain. I will go back to check again to see what happens.

    • @KtCleansAlot
      @KtCleansAlot 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@hepzlawrence7710 definitely dilute it with water, always!
      Start with 1 tablespoon of ACV, but try to work your way up to 2 tablespoons of it per day... I always use a 16oz cup, put the apple cider vinegar in first, then just fill the rest of the cup with water and I'm good to go, I try to personally drink one of those each day, for various health reasons. It helps me with intermittent fasting, and also keeps my seasonal allergies away. But I've become use to the undesirable flavor of ACV. When I make this drink for other people I usually put a bunch of lemonade in the cup, and then fill to the top with water. Lemonade is a game-changer, it REALLY improves the taste! So I always suggest that people start off that way, just to simply be able to get it down your throat. Oh also, ACV cures a sore throat almost instantly, also heartburn too, that stuff is amazing!!
      Lastly, I suggest drinking it through a straw, in an effort to keep it from soaking in to your teeth. Vinegar can eat away at the enamel of your teeth if you let it, it's very acidic (which is great for your stomach, but not for your teeth) so I always personally keep a 2nd cup near by of just water. After I drink some ACV I chase that down with plain water, and swish it around in my mouth, just to be safe. And, I am not a doctor, this is not medical advice. But I do hope you'll give it a try. Theres plenty of websites that would have more information on this sort of thing. Good luck, I hope that helped answer your question!

    Here's what I did:
    1) Minimised consumption of oxalate-rich foods (e.g. Tahini, tomatoes, watercress, soy protein isolate, mustard), 2) Applied reusable frozen ice packs to pains and carried them with me in public (alas paracetamol and Ibuprofen did nothing.), 3) Kept meal sizes LOW and thoroughly chewed food small (a stomach *full of food* exacerbated the pain immensely), 4) Took one 100mg capsule of the suggested _Potassium Citrate_ daily for maybe 3 consecutive days (really seems very effective. _Calcium Citrate_ on the other hand, didn't obviously help).

    How many mg of potassium citrate do you recommend? I'm seeing everything from 99mg to 275mg.

    • @Drberg
      @Drberg  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your body requires a lot of potassium. The daily requirement for potassium is 4700 mg.
      Potassium is important for the sodium-potassium pump. The sodium-potassium pump is like a battery for your cells.
      Vegetables are the best source of potassium. One cup of leafy greens provides between 500 and 800 mg of potassium. If you consumed five to ten cups of vegetables daily, you would get plenty of potassium. In comparison, a banana only provides about 300 mg of potassium. Bananas also contain a lot of fructose.
      Unfortunately, the average person is not getting enough potassium from their diet-and potassium supplements typically only give you up to 99 mg of potassium per tablet.
      Potassium deficiency is often overlooked. It’s difficult to diagnose, and symptoms of a potassium deficiency are sometimes vague. Early symptoms often include difficulty breathing, fatigue, and heart palpitations.
      A more severe deficiency in potassium can lead to the following:
      • High blood pressure
      • Increased risk of stroke
      • Fluid retention or edema
      • Bone loss
      • Kidney stones
      Causes of potassium deficiency that go beyond a lack of potassium in the diet can include:
      • Penicillin
      • Diuretics
      • Steroids
      • Chronic stress
      • High insulin (high-carb diet)
      • Refined or processed foods
      Even the keto diet and prolonged fasting can lead to a potassium deficiency if not done correctly. You will lose potassium as you lose water weight on keto. Consuming enough potassium on keto and taking a potassium supplement while doing a prolonged fast is crucial.
      Eating too much too quickly after a prolonged fast or consuming too many carbs after a prolonged fast can also cause a severe potassium deficiency, which can be dangerous.
      My challenge for you is to start consuming a lot of foods high in potassium, like leafy greens, for one week and see how you feel. I think you're going to notice a big difference.

    I have never drunk enough water and when I fast, my body has become even more acidic. As a result, I now have gout attacks on my fingers and I feel a little bit pain in my kidneys. I started drinking a lot of water and now I feel much healthier.

    Just two small wedges of lemon in water daily helps keep to them away. Discovered some foods I may been over consuming 😒 that have high oxalates. I think I will be adding buttermilk onto my salads again, to help prevent stones.

    The herb "chanca piedra" (aka stone breaker) is supposedly an aid to pass these stones as well. I've read that it relaxes "smooth muscles" allowing the ureters to dilate a bit and pass the stone(s) more easily.

    I have genetic issues for developing kidney stones. Lots of pain, infections involved through the years. Lithotrypsy and even surgery to remove them. Now I have a 8mm stone that has developed in spite of the suggestions by Dr. Berg. Some people are just going to be a stone manufacturing machine. Those things Dr. Berg lists are all good and I would just also add Vitamin K2 (MK7) which has done more for me than anything. The lemon juice causes very painful acid bumps on my tongue so I have to limit the lemon juice.

    I dealt with kidney stones in my early 20s. I was told to have a low salt diet. I never put salt on my food in the first place. Two years ago, I started working on my health. I added salt back into my diet and learned that magnesium deficiency causes kidney stones. I should never have been on a low salt diet.

    • @AA-lu8lo
      @AA-lu8lo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Salt is a factor; it can lead to dehydration if not met with enough water consumption. Oxalates are a factor. Drinking water is a factor. Too much vit D3 supplementation is a factor because it could lead to hypercalcemia. I'm not saying go low salt, but you shouldn't downplay anything.
      I'm guessing mag helps because it's a calcium antagonist.

      @@AA-lu8lo I never ate excess salt when I was told to eat a low salt diet. Whatever salt was in the food I ate, is all the salt I consumed at the time. Salt is needed by the kidneys and adrenals. Salt helps the kidneys flush out toxins. Magnesium deficiency is related to kidney stones. I get my D3 tested every 2 months and I consume K2 with my D3. My D3 levels were low 2 years ago and optimal, now. K2 keeps calcium out of the arteries and soft tissues. I am on the low end of normal for my salt level. Consuming unrefined salt is better for you, than refined salt. Lastly, I drink plenty of water. I get my hematocrit tested once to twice weekly when donating plasma to see if I am hydrated.

      @@jenniferbecca3050 I have no doubt that you know what you're talking about, just don't get too arrogant; this is what happened to me. I'd had 5 kidney stones at some point and then I thought I knew everything and that I've collected so much knowledge; kept my oxalate intake minimal, lowered my calcium, and thought I would be fine with whatever amount of salt and to only drink when thirsty, and BOOM, worse stone I've ever had. I was supplementing D3 at the time too.

    • @jenniferbecca3050
      @jenniferbecca3050 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AA-lu8lo And I'm not arrogant. I'm still learning about stuff, but this is what I have been learning for two years. From what I've read, ER's give magnesium to people who come in with kidney stones. And Dr. Berg has said in other video, that one should consume 1-3tsp of salt per day based on the individual and their activity level
      and health.

    • @AA-lu8lo
      @AA-lu8lo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jenniferbecca3050 Well, I guess you're doing pretty well; the way you said "in my early 20's" sounds like you were stone free for a long time, which is more than I could say for myself 😂.
      I think IV drips having electrolytes (including mag) is standard for a wide variety of cases; I doubt the doctors know of any specific relation between mag and stones; would be cool if they actually do.
