Although my mom at 86 years of age had sharp, normal mental capacity-no signs of forgetfulness-dementia-etc, she suddenly one day started acting confused, irrational, and bewildered. The doctors told me that this is the beginning of her mental decline-but it was an experienced, sharp nurse who told me to insist that I have the doctors check for a urinary tract infection. At first, I thought “what does that have to do with her mental decline?”, but she explained that urinary tract infections in the elderly will cause them to suddenly act like the way my mom was acting. She turned out to be absolutely correct. She had a serious urinary tract infection. Once they gave her the antibiotics, she returned to herself again. It made me wonder how many other elderly people were misdiagnosed as early onset of dementia when in actuality he/she had a serious urinary tract infection.
Happened to my mother too after her KN replacement.....Hosp staff did not pick it up they kept on writing dementia on her notes ....I removed her from hosp & took her to her GP who trained in the UK . Asked her to prescribe Macrodantin she agreed as she said it was prescribed for many elderly & those in nursing homes in the UK ....After first course of meds my mother was a new person she was then prescribed a low dose each day until she passed 5 yrs later 🇦🇺 .
This is an amazing story! Thank you for sharing your mom’s experience. It seems that common infections such as UTIs should always be ruled out when someone 75+, 85+, and into their 90s, is doing and functioning well and is suddenly confused and irrational. To just pronounce someone as having dementia is either a negligent doctor or one who is not properly trained.
What I have learned that helped me : hydration is very important - never to hold urine for a long time .... when you have to go - don' t wait ... go. I have a long arm attached to my shower head and after wiping myself front to back I have a lower body short shower after a bowel motion - Pass urine after intercourse - Rebuild your immune system with probiotic and prebiotics - find Kefir and fermented food - take anti infective tablets Hiprex ( 2 daily ) avoid stress if possible learn to meditate - sleep enough . Cranberry jui but not the commercial variety - the one from chemist or healthfood store ... or the high potency tablets. Work on yourself learn to became more peaceful . All of this has worked for me very well as a diabetic. Good luck - much love !
OMG,Violetta! You give the BEST advice! Some of these things I've already started doing from my research and they seem to be WORKING and the other things that you recommended I am DEFINITELY going to try! The voice of experience is REALLY the voice of knowledge isn't it? We learn the HARD way!
Anti infective catheters are available and effective in my case . High quality cranberry juice from a health food store is helpful before and after changing the catheter ( four weeks in my case ) . I drink a full glass of water before bed and stay hydrated .
I nearly died from having sepsis, twice, due to kidney infections. Antibiotics prescribed by doctor's, we're not helping, and actually making things worse. I started on cranberry supplements, with probiotics, and added apple cider vinegar and oregano oil. i haven t been in the hospital for nearly a year, now. If i had just continued to go to the doctor's, and not started on the cranberry supplements and oregano oil, I believe I very possibly, would be dead, by now. Oregano oil , kills e coli, and the cranberry keeps the E coli, from attatching, to the bladder walls. You must keep the oregano oil dosage very low, and only take it occasionally, for no more than a week to 10 dqys, at a time, as it is damaging in high dosages. For proper dosing, do your own research, on-line.
I had an uti that became into a kidney infection because the urologist didn’t want to put me under antibiotics. Now I’m better, would you please explain to me how to take the oregano?
Caffeine can be an irritant too. I don't drink coffee, and when I have a cup of tea I always have a glass of water not long after to dilute the caffeine. Avoid making tea or coffee your first drink of the day; always have a glass of water first, or half a glass better than none!
Don't eat sugar, drink plenty of water, practice good hygiene. Don't linger in wet bathing suit after a swim. This will help many who have common infections . T2 here and eliminating sugars made my utis stop.

I used to get UTI’s every month. Now I haven’t had a single infections since I reasoned that the diabetic meds I was taking made me pee out excess sugar. I got a peri care bottle from my medical supply store for $3 and now after urination I spray my female parts with water, using the full bottle. It’s been years since I’ve had an infection.
I have had years of uti issues. About ten years ago I ended up in hospital with a kidney infection due to a UTI. I had no symptoms until I developed into a raging temperature and rigors.( uncontrollable severe shivering)
I’m a former nurse. I have lots of utis and symptoms of utis. I use the dipsticks. If I have no red flags and no indicators on the dipstick I don’t go to the doctor. I have course of antibiotics at home just in case. Sadly I am intolerant to nitrofurodantin and it makes me vomit. I have had many investigations of my primary tract and the consultant cannot find what causes me the symptoms I have when I don’t have an infection. Those sachets- invented but a man;0). Taste awful
Very surprised that you did not mention the use of D-mannose . There are now good studies demonstrating its effectiveness (but only for E-coli). My older mom takes 2g every day and it works. Before she used to get UTIs almost every month, now it is exceptional. People that have these as recurring infections should be notified of the existence of this product. It is also effective in case of infection but the dose is much stronger (2g 3 times a day). It is just as effective as antibiotics without the problems.
I am an 80 year old male. I visited the dentist for 4 implant teeth. Because of the extensive gum and bone surgery the dentist prescribed steroids and antibiotics. The side effects of these two medications were so intense that I had to stop taking them gradually. However, my immune system reached a very low point and I ended up with UTI and in three days with sepsis. I became delirious lost all energy and joint stamina and developed low grade fever. I contacted my urologist who prescribe an antibiotic for seven days. It did not work. Then he prescribed another antibiotic and I started feeling better. At the onset, however, I had no symptoms. Urination was regular and no lower abdomen or back pain near the kidneys. Dr Sinan thank you (or shall I say Teşekkürler) for the wonderful presentation.

I had surgery to remove a large sacral chordoma tumor from my sacrum and lumbar spine. Because of the tumor, I have lost control of several functions, one of which is passing urine. I was suffering a new UTI practically every month. While I was in the hospital to address an MSSA staph infection that was growing around my sizeable collection of titanium parts that were installed to keep my upper skeleton attached to my lower skeleton, my Plastic Surgeon / Oncologist discussed with me about me possibly getting a suprapubic catheter and ceasing the use of a catheter going through my urethra. I went ahead and had the procedure for the suprapubic catheter, and ever since that time (approximately 1 year) I have had zero UTIs to contend with. The suprapubic catheter is proving to be vastly superior in my case.
You sound like a real brave person. So glad your Titanium parts saved you. And very happy UTIs seem now in the past. I shall join your club as I have a 3kg or more Enders Nail in my thigh. Be well

I had recurring UTI symptoms which sent me to the off hour clinic more than once. Oddly, no bacteria was found in the culture. After watching many masterclasses online I decided to do a parasite cleanse. After 30 days on a capsule which has mimosa pudica as well as the usual antiparasitic herbs I noticed that I had urinated out some small odd curved items that looked out of place. They were big enough to see and not microscopic. That was 2 years ago and I have not had any urgency, pain, or uncontrollable releases. There are very healthy parasite cleanse protocols out there that are quite inexpensive (less than the copay for dr visit).

Once I did get a urine infection. This spread to my left kidney. I was in excruciating pain. My doctor prescribed antibiotics and told me to drink lots of water. My infection went away and haven't returned. Thanks for the information.
Primary ignored "blood in urine" and patient's rights: four months ago I notified my primary physician I had extreme blood in my urine, he stated "peep track of it" . . he was out of the office that day with a doctor on-call and no office support. None reached out to me, infection was at the state of "sepsis shock" when I arrived at the emergency room, they did what all country medical teams do, traveled 1 1/2 hours from their facility to a "state of the art hospital specializing in sepsis patients." Spent four days, many tests with normal results. Added gift: yeast infection with anti-bionics took close to two weeks to clear up. This was my second UTI in my lifetime (81 years old) . . . healthy, no health issues . . . physical/blood tests once a year . . . of course I no longer see this primary since "patients rights were ignored" (in my attorney hands) I'm a RN still working - NYState-USA🌹
Primary care doctors are a waste of time in my opinion. Many times, I too had primary doctors that missed something that ended up becoming more severe or a full blown issue at some point. I no longer go to primary care doctors for much of anything. For my yearly physical I go see a gynecologist because she specializes in that specific area. I also go to see an otolaryngologist for my ears and nose, etc.
I never had a UTI in 67 years but have had 5 in the lst 5 months. Coincidentally I also developed pericrditis, a pericardil effusion & have had very high levels of circulating spike protein antibodies for 2.5 years. Never (knowingly) had Covid, but I am now suspecting all these weird new symptoms are from the 3 unowhats I had. I wonder if whatever. The vaccines did to my immune system is common in other folks who are now getting frequent UTIs? The cause of my UTIs is always Klebsiella pneumoniae, which can cause sepsis if it gets into your blood stream.
Thank you. I went to urgent care in January asking if I had a UTI, and doc said it must be just a yeast infection, or a bacterial vaginosis. I wasn't sexually active, so it would have been from something else. They finally diagnosed me in March, but by then it went to my kidneys. Then came almost three months of trying out antibiotics which: 1) didn't clear it, 2)maany made me very sick (extrene fatigue, iron issues, extreme leg pain within a day, nausea, etc). It finally got better in June,. Please make sure to advocate for yourself and demand tests in doubt, and repeeat them within a week or two if not better. Some doctors can be reckless, assuming , arrogantly, who you are as a person (downplaying symptoms), and rushing you out of the office so they can go home. Oh, the cause was e coli: I later remembered I had diarrhea in December. I forgot about it until e coli was seen on the test, and I was asked if I had anal sex - I had no sex at all in a while).
Doctors can be frighteningly stupid and arrogant. I have no clue how most of these people got through medical school. I cared for my 80+ y.o. parents for 8 years. What I saw and learned on the way to the funerals terrifies me for my own old age. With both parents I was asked if I just wanted to put them in a hospital bed and they would be "medicated" until they died! No exageration! This country has zero respect for the elderly or younger people with disabilities. It makes me sick the shoddy - or lack of - care, compassion and respect the elderly and disabled are given in this country.
Are we still in the dark ages, when a doctor tells us to wipe front to back? Millions of women end up with a chronic embedded infection because they were not treated quickly enough or with a long enough course of antibiotics. Patients should be scribed based on symptoms, not any test. We have over 450 different bacteria in other bladder and any one of these could be causing symptoms. Just because e-coli for example shows up, it doesn't mean that's the one causing symptoms. Most are unknown, so would not be recognised. Maybe purchase Cystitis Unmasked by James Malone-Lee, he spent over 45 years researching embedded UTIs. Sadly he is no longer with us, but has a fantastic NHS team at the Whittingham as well as 10 Harley Street, that see patients who have ended up with an embedded uti, because they were not given a long enough, not high enough, course of antibiotics.
it's nice to meet you i'm not a doctor but i've witnessed different females wiping the potty of their coochies in different directions with different types and/or quantities of potty paper
i wish i knew for certain ROUGHLY what percentage and/or types of females say things like i'm gonna go use the potty i gotta go potty i pottied and/or i'm pottying
I feel a doctor using terms like" tummy" and" Poo "are TALKING DOWN to the patients! Does he think we are three-year-olds! Ditto on the" wiping front to back". Have you ever heard them give men wiping instructions?!
Doctors here in the US only want to prescribe a 7 day course of antibiotics for a UTI and if you still complain of symptoms, give you something to treat the burning, not help you get over the UTI. Consequently, the infection goes on for months or years. They are petrified of helping you find and prescribing the correct antibiotics. Thanks for the info about the Cystitis Unmasked book.
@@anner3399 Men don't need wiping instructions, because even if they wipe back to front, they aren't going to get fecal matter near their urethral meatus.
I suffered with urinary problems for a long time eventually I had my bladder examined with a camera and it was fine so I carried on with the antibiotics when the attacks happened ,I then saw a Reflexologist when I was on holiday in Kenya , she told me I had Candida too much yeast in my body this is why I had thrush and cystitis all the time ,so I eliminated yeast from my diet and within 6 to 9 months I was better and since then my cystitis attacks have lessened.

Currently, I have an uncle that was hospitalized for the 3rd time this year for a urinary infection. This time he did not bounce back to his old self. Mentally and verbally he was non-responsive and had to be eventually put on a feeding tube, I had to practically beg the doctors to do a Cat Scan with Contrast to find out what was going on with him. Lo and behold they found a growth on his kidney and are not sure what it is exactly. The doctors just took a needle biopsy of the fluid in it, and the results have not done back yet.
My sister developed a uti on vacation and didn't have it taken care of at the time. Her bladder stretched, lost the elasticity of it. She was left with a bladder that would fill up and she could only urinate about an ounce at a time. She had to relieve herself every 15 minutes. Nothing could be done for her. She was in constant pain. She lived 6 years like this.
Many people still have the misconception that women who deal with uti’s, are sexually active, I’ve been celibate for a number of years, stopped counting after five years. More people need to do their research, stop judging, and just listen.
I was very ill with a urine infection last year; high temperature, vomiting, diarrhoea, and flu like symptoms. I have never been so ill in my entire life. I couldn't eat and lost a stone in one week. My mom is 83 years old and has dementia. What make her more prone to UTI is due to her diahrea from tube feeding. She got her first UTI this week and the only reason why it was found was because she was acting different as in confused and have trouble expressing herself than usual. She had a slight fever that caused me to worry and brought her in the er to have it checkout. Sure enough she had a UTI and the urine culture indicated it was e-coli. Luckily, her e-coli can be easily treated by many different antibiotics and she was back to herself with in 2 days. Her white blood cell count and fever return to normal and poof. She was back to her normal self, alert and talkative. Just remember that you can have diarrhea while under antibiotic treatment so don’t be alarm. I wish there are ways that I can help to prevent this better for her constant diarrhea from tube feeding makes it more difficult to prevent her feces from contaminating her urinary path ways. Having diapers on all the time only make it worse. All I can do is now watch her more closely for weird symptoms and act quickly. Any suggestions to help minimize would greatly appreciated.
All i can suggest is to get her to drink fluids regularly, keep a tally of the nr of glasses drunk during the day, and use a timer to remind yourself to toilet her frequently to avoid a wet nappy....
Be sure to explain how UTI symptoms are very different when you are twenty versus seventy. I felt fine then randomly lost consciousness for five days. When they let me go home they told my daughter if I was acting strange or like a personality change to get me to the doctor.
So you were delirious.. Amazing how medically trained people apparently don't know about older people's greater risk of a delirium in case of a (bladder) infection.
@@joseevaniersel7280Yes, staff in senior nursing homes need to be much better informed about the seriousness of this in the elderly. It happened to my husband's aunt twice. Once upon a time, long, long ago your pcp cared about your health and knew you. I have a spastic bladder (I guess now they call it overactive so as not to offend). Anyway I have gotten occasional UTI's and once the dr had given me a scrip and sent me home. Two-three days later I got a call from the dr's ofc. The nurse said to stop taking the med prescribed and the pharmacy would have a new one ready for me shortly. I asked her why, what was wrong with the first med. She said it was NOT killing the infection in the lab so I needed a new med. I was shocked and grateful to find out they actually did that! I'm sure nothing like that occurs these stressful days.😔 Too bad- those were good times. ✌♥️🙏🏻
But you probably want to do both. The dipstick can identify a UTI in a minute. The culture takes a day or two. Urine is placed on and put in an ideal place for bacteria to grow. Little antibiotic dots are put on the surface. Bacteria will grow around the antibiotic or not. If the bacteria grows you have UTI. If it does not grow around one of the dots it means that is that antibiotic will cure your UTI. They may have a newer method.
I dont usualy get them from ecoli so the first antibiotic prescribed is usually ineffective . The one prescribed after a cultured test generally works . I dont empty the bladder with any ease so thats the likely cause but whyvis a mystery

I'm 68, have had a bladder infection for 12 years. Only one symptom, foul smelling urine with no other symptoms. Throughout the years my FP has put me on several different antibiotics. Symptom went away while I'm on the antibiotic. But about 2 days after finishing the antibiotics the symptom comes back. I'm also diabetic. Saw a urologist and she recommended that I go on a low dosage antibiotic for the rest of my life. I told her no way, because I feel that would do more harm than good in the long run. So, I just deal with it. Was told it's caused by the ecoli bacteria. I've taken all the sanitary precautions but still nothing changes. Ever since menopause I've also had the problem of my bladder not completely emptying when I pee and sometimes I have to go pee again a couple minutes later to finally empty the bladder. I've tried pushing on my bladder to try to completely empty it but it doesn't always work.

Antibiotics may hurt people. Nature's Way- Kidney/Bladder/mushrooms/Aloe/Vit C/fish oil/Zn/Mg/Vit A/garlic/onion/low sugar/no gluten and more may help.
This is only really about cystitis in women. This is huge problem because UTIs in men is common in old age due to poor emptying and is so seldom talked about. My husband had months of trouble, masses of anti-biotics and still takes D-Mannose everyday to prevent trouble from E-coli. E-coli is only one of many infections that cause UTIs and infrequent in men. If only doctors would talk more about UTIs in men and the elderly.
I think that in men it can be a prostate issue. Whereas in older women it is from a lack of estrogen after menopause... this is called postmenopausal urogenital syndrome.
@@conniehadley1892 Fair enough, but more explicit wording would have been better. "Stay hydrated" is not very specific and sounds like a general thing rather than "make bloody sure you stay hydrated!"
Yep not “hydrate”. What the f*ck does that mean. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER, to help flush out the bacteria and so the bladder is not searching for water to flush away the irritants!
Drinking 2 cups of green tea unsweetened..along with eating fresh steamed asparagus with lemon..your diet plays a very important role in overall optimal health.
I am 76 and have only ever had one uti, and that was about 3 years ago. It didn't last long and I didn't see a Dr. I sympathise with anyone who suffers with uti's, especially if they are recurring.
women in perimenopausal/postmenopausal age need HRT - specifically vaginal estrogen (it is not systematically absorbed but locally, making it safe for breast cancer and other endocrine cancer survivors) for frequent UTIs. the lack of estrogen causes problems, but I don't know if it is widely prescribed as a treatment for UTIs. it should be. I haven't had an UTI since going on vaginal estrogen.
I have terrible IBS which caused the colonization of E-Coli inside my urinary system. The E-Coli strain I have is untreatable. The first UTI episode caused epididymitis on two searate occasions, which I would never wish upon my worst enemy
15 year nightmare of severe UTI infections hospitalised multiple times. Because of COVID I began Vit D supplements 4000 units daily never got COVID and my nightmare is over completely 3 years infection free, 15 years ago I started Nightshifts coincidence?????
Thank you so much Dr. Sinan for these thorough and explicit explanations on this subject. Not making one feel guilty of one's actions. So thoroughly understood!Thank you, once again!!! Blessings ❤
Shocking omission... prostate issues usually a consequence of an enlarged prostate. I am a walking chronic UTI now and don't even bother to react it happens so often.

My Dad was a GP and pharmacist, qualifying in 1952. He said that at med school they talked of triple micturation first thing on waking - that is, go to the toilet 3 times within the first hour of getting up - this ensures that the bladder is emptied completely and there is no retention of stale urine from sleeping through the night. This sounds a lot - but if you pee on rising, after a shower, and before you go to work - then it is not difficult. Also we were told about peeing after sex. Your other tip about wiping, we were also told - and sitting on the toilet also helps ensure the bladder is properly emptied. Neither my mother, us daughters or our grandmothers ever had urine infections.
I'm 78, male, and have another UTI. This is not the first time. This time I tried to treat it with cranberry juice, high dose vitamin C, and waiting for the immune system to kick in. But although the symptoms were not getting worse, they were becoming annoying, such as even more bathroom breaks during the night or while out shopping. So eventually I bit the bullet and joined the dreaded 8 a.m. telephone queue for my GP, knowing that I would have to go through the long list of questions the receptionist needs to ask. Anyway, now I'm on a 7-day course of nitrofurantoin, and already on Day 2 I am getting some improvement. No side effects so far.
Bladder infections are the bane of my existence. I had them constantly in my mid 20s and was put on 3 or 6 months of Bactrim. I learned all the things to do to prevent an infection and to head off one in the early stages. . Now in my early 60s they're back and i can't deal with it. My dr referred me to a specialist and she put me on Methenamine twice a day. It works. Almost no infections at all. It's wonderful.
I have the same problem. After years I again have one infección after the other.Could you pleased Tell me the ingredientes in your pilla as I LOVE abroad and the pilla Will Come under another name.Thankyou
Hiprex turns to formaldehyde in your body. That's what prevents the UTI infection. You cannot take it when you have an active UTI -ONLY as a preventative! . I'm not sure if I should take it or not! There's other natural things you could do- taking oil of oregano and oil of thyme and cloves all together WITH FOOD-but it was SO STRONG -my stomach couldn't take it! Kept getting upset stomach and the runs -it was TOO strong for me- maybe just the oil oregano alone would work. I agree ,it's VERY IMPORTANT to stay off starches and sugar and dairy too ! It's not easy plus the MD said after you go through menopause, your hormones get low and can't protect you from UTIs They recommend estradiol cream- my naturopath said better to take the NATURAL form of it- estriol. but my md didn't want to give me a script for that- so I am taking the estradiol . I don't know if it'll work -you'll have to take it long term.
My wife suffered terribly with UTI’s for years and we had tried everything. One day we met a person who worked in a chicken farm. He told us things that we did not believe but thought we will try anything. Stop eating supermarket chicken, actually stop all chicken. Two weeks later.. gone.. its been three years and no UTI!s
I had a very serious urine infection months ago which had no physical but mental ,which changed my personality I became very angry and confused and was taken into hospital by force a very bad way to enter a hospital seen by a doctor who said it was early dementia, luckily then saw by another member of staff who asked what had happened just before admittance I explained word for word what had happened , she then said that was wrong and it was a urine infection right, thank goodness , also said I was young for this to happen, I was 76. It took a long time to mentally recover completely I would say about 4-5 months I am still a little forgetful but otherwise ok now. I have since made a point of finding out more UTI. One thing I have noticed is that there is no info at my local surgery surely this should be in all surgeries.
@@dawnclarke3065 No, this is localized estrogen but bio identical estrogen does not contribute to breast cancer. That is old information that has been debunked. You need some updated HRT information.
This is also my issue! I am on Premarin, but it only helps a little. I am 60, but went through menopause at 51... This hasn't become an issue with me until recently though. I drinks lots of water, avoid sugar, practice meticulous hygiene, etc. so I don't know what's going on. My primary care doctor has confidence that the Premarin should be working. - not really!
That's (to say the very least) extremely misleading. The vast majority of people get minimal side-effects from antibiotics, probably at most a mild stomach upset. Urinary infections, especially in older people, are not trivial, and need to be treated properly, which generally means antibiotics. You shouldn't make baseless claims that could put people off having effective and safe treatments.
Specific antibiotics have always helped me. And I am no fan of pharmaceutical meds or the healthcare system in general, the way things are currently. There are only 2 I know I can take without issue, and 1 I'm on the fence with. Benefit far outweighs the risk for me.
just have to share, I am hoping this inspires others struggling. I have PCOS and Hashimoto thryiod and I remember how I felt when the doctor told me it would be difficult for me to concieve naturally, now I have 4 children, very successful pregnancies, God blessed me with the use of herbs, the herbs helped me to manage Hashimoto and pcos my cycle was coming regularly after using so many supplement like metformin , but all to no avail

Thank you for this info on bladder infections. Mine started in mid-October 2022. Seen 7 doctors. Problem still persists. 1st Doctor - urine sample, diagnosed bladder infection, prescribing antibiotics. Discomfort in lower abdomen disappeared. Replaced by intense sensation just before peeing, that I thought at first was pain. Same sensation when urinating sometimes & intense if dropping onto a chair too hard. Had to press very hard to get urine out, till discovering pushing was effecting my anus. Thought it had become an infection in the urethra, cause that's what it felt like. Google gave me second opinion. 2nd Doctor - urine sample, prescribed second course antibiotics. She made no comment after I said I thought it was now in the urethra, & she later refered to it as a bladder infection again. 3rd Doctor - urine sample, third course of antibiotics. 4th Doctor - referred me to a clinic for tests and thereafter to another hospital. 5th Doctor at clinic - seven extremely painful attempts at extracting a PAP smear & gave a clear AIDS test. When asking Google why a PAP smear is so painful, the answer was, that its not at all painful though some people might experience discomfort. This one wonders how PAP smears are done in America as opposed to this South African country where the pain immobilises you? 6th Doctor - previous PAP results not provided, so he had another 2 highly painful PAP smear attempts, prescribing Penicillin without establishing allergic reaction. Thankfully, I read the box & was then given Austell-Ciprofioxacin. Diagnosis: "Shift in flora suggestive of Bacterial Vaginosis" 7th Doctor - returned to the 5th Doctor with severe flu & same urine condition. Prescribed Penicillin which she exchanged for Austell-Ciprofioxacin the next day. I advised each Doctor that the infection started the day or two days after I ill-advisedly smeared Anethane Cream between my legs at the utter nagging insistence of a peculiar person I know, who handed me the tube without the box. None of the Doctors seen responded to that or thought it relevant at all. Only one doctor said it was not for internal use. Me, I think the Anethane caused this condition. There was no burning urine, discharge, smell, itch, rash or other manifestation. The sensation is not as severe as it was, though still strong. Started getting nauseous occasionally (I've seldom been nauseus in my life), followed by nausea every day now. Heartburn, headaches (didn't used to get them often). Calf & foot cramps when sleeping or on waking, after none for over a year. Hand jerks when working with the computer mouse. Somehow, not writing the same. Irritable as hell. Feel peculiar, just not right. Guess I'm wasting my time here too. Just to put it on public record - if an 8th Doctor asks for a urine sample I will get on top of his desk and give it to him there.
Pls go to a urologist .it saved me antibiotics killed my bacteria in my vagina gave me infection took a bacteria cream to apply in vagina an macradontin
Bless ya just can't seem to find a Dr willing to help I'm urinating just about every 10 mins but after first flow it stops and I have to push it to get it out Also I have sciatica and flared up again this morning Seems we have to learn to become our own drs
When working as a hospice nurse my female patients frequently had UTIs without any symptoms except sudden change in mental status. It looked like dementia. One patient who was a quadriplegic NEVER had a UTI. This was exceptional. The family of the quadriplegic gave her a product called UQORA. This is not prescription and worked well with almost all of my other patients.
Thank-you as that is amazing info (if it can be backed up by others...) I certainly agree that I saw same in Mum in Care. She would have episodes of delirium (hallucinations and general incoherence) and it would predict a UTI on board. I wish I had known of this product although I cant see it online for Australia :(
My urogynecologist told me Uquora was basically d-mannose and other additives. Told me to save my money and use d-mannose I find the powder works well, dilute in water. I also use capsules. Do one or the other twice a day.

Are you not going to mention hygiene when talking about intercourses ? One thing that's rarely talked about and men in particular are not informed about. We have a society that teaches women to be available at all times and men to be impulsive and obsessed. Prioritizing impulse vs hygiene and basic respect would go a long way. And aids is NOT the only dangerous thing that can be transmitted during intercourse or would need to be talked about in s.x ed. Women, keep this in mind at ALL times, and don't compromise your safety EVER. Demand hygiene and respect.
I had a urine infection which became quickly a lot worse- shaking like a leaf, peeing blood. I felt too ill to do anything but to go to bed with a hot water bottle...bad idea. I woke up and I was hallucinating. A whole army of medieval knights was fighting vigorously all over my duvet. I bent down and stared at them for ages. Then a beautiful jaguar strolled over to my bed and stared at me. I thought...hmmm, I must be quite ill. Instead of calling an ambulance, I caught the bus in to see my GP....Antibiotics ensued. I have never been this ill, before!
Why do you have background music when you're narrating important information, I really wish channels, especially a narrating information channel would stop doing this. I couldn't watch beyond 1:33.
Another cause that mimics bladder infection symptoms is Interstitial Cystitis. It can't be diagnosed with a regular cystoscopy because the damage is coming from underneath the top bladder wall. Urine testing won't show bacteria because there's no infection, although it certainly feels that way. A more advanced cystoscopy done specially for this chronic disease is warranted. Speaking as an IC patient for 35 years.
I have a prolapse splatter and I haven’t had a UTI in 30 years. During that time I would drink a half a teaspoon of baking soda and a cup of water morning and night. My allergist told me to do it to help with reactions to food or supplements. Last couple of weeks I stopped doing that and I’ve and I got a UTI.
I’m incredibly clean yet I go through periods of having UTI’s. Sex is the biggest cause. Hormone changes another. Our bodies just house little pathogens which take the opportunity to take hold when our health is down, eg oerworked stressed etc. The wiping thing helps but isn’t the main cause, most women know this.
Asked her to prescribe Macrodantin she agreed as she said it was prescribed for many elderly & those in nursing homes in the UK ....After first course of meds my mother was a new person she was then prescribed a low dose each day until she passed 5 yrs later 🇦🇺

I’m showing your video to my 84 year old mom’s palliative care team tomorrow! Bless you, sir! 🙏

The voice of EXPERIENCE is really the voice of KNOWLEDGE, isn't it!
Until you get interstitial cystitis then you have to eliminate fermented foods and cranberry juice
ALWAYS PASS URINE IMMEDIATELY AFTER INTERCOURSE!

@ClaraJones2 of what????
My UTI pain is resolved by drinking baking soda in water I hold my nose and chug it down Relief starts immediately. Interestingly it also helps cancer patients. Cancer hates alkalinity.

You help me because even me my right hand kidney pain me dear
Thank you for going after the bad apples!
Doctors and many newer nurses are not what they once were.
Thank you for sharing Roberta🙏🙏
Then came almost three months of trying out antibiotics which:
1) didn't clear it,
2)maany made me very sick (extrene fatigue, iron issues, extreme leg pain within a day, nausea, etc).

I know someone that was taught to wipe back to front. It’s like someone wanted her to spread bacteria to her private parts
Septic infections are wicked.....especially when they go to the brain. Nearly died, in coma for one week and could not walk later.
you are right...urosepsis almost took me down...escaped death by a little margin..but i still have painful urination although my tests are all clear

Come back yet.
How did that turn out? It's great that your uncle had you as an advocate.
Same thing happened with my mother in her 80s. A former athlete, she was wheelchair bound in the care home. I had to ask the care aides to get her tested for urinary tract infections. I was right every time.
A culture urine test is much more important than a stick quick test!

For chronic UTI's your doctor should be doing NEXT GENERATION SEQUENCING to find out what's really going on. Instead of a lifetime of oral antibiotics, maybe untravesicular antibiotics might be more effective.
What is that?
At one point, I had 5 UTI's in 1 year. My doctor ended up prescribing Hiprex as a med to take as soon as the symptoms occur. This is a very strange coincidence. Last night at 2 a.m., I started getting the pain and burning, so I got up and took 2 tabs. By 4am, the symptoms eased a little. I'll take them for the next 3 days to eliminate the infection. I always ensure I have a bottle in my med cabinet. Cheers Rosemary Perth Western Australia 73yrs
@roses9339 - I totally agree with you. I have had the samme experience! Haiprex really helps preventing infections. So why does dr. Sinan not mention this simple remedy which is used for people with urinary catheters in hospitals etc? Getting antibiotics constantly is certainly not healthy, prevention is far better! The only 2 times in my life I got a UTI was after having an operation and when the catheter was removed AND when I had a cystoscopy. Felt like peeing glass. Last one was on a holiday weekend, and couldn’t get a referral to go to a walk-in clinic, so I went to the hospital. Got some antibiotics which gave me some relief by the next day ! I wonder how carefully cleaned the instruments were. 🤔 The doctor at the hospital told me it was from having the cystoscopy 10 days previously. 😖

Ever since menopause I've also had the problem of my bladder not completely emptying when I pee and sometimes I have to go pee again a couple minutes later to finally empty the bladder. This is only really about cystitis in women. This is huge problem because UTIs in men is common in old age due to poor emptying and is so seldom talked about.

I have not had any since going on Vagifem during perimenopause. So many doctors don’t know about vaginal atrophy/genitourinary syndrome of menopause.
Do Vagifem contribute to breast cancer or brain bleeds? Just asking. Thank you.
@@fionab2333Oh no? Suzanne Sommees is dewd.
I say just use a dab of estrogen cream every few wk.s.... works.
I'm daily & intermittently taking baking soda, apple cider vinegar, tincture of oil of oregano & D mannose with water.
Well wishes.
I'm currently treating my bladder infection with ginger, iodine pills, vitamin c, apple cider vinegar, zinc, and goldenseal. Almost all cleared up
@ConfusedRiver-ff6lh yes. It was completely gone after about a week.
@ConfusedRiver-ff6lh I'm 60
@ConfusedRiver-ff6lh yes they take good care of me
Wonder how they treated urine infection before antibiotics were invented? 🤔
Many people died from sepsis.😑
You mentioned that antiobiotics are safe. They are really not because of the horrible side effects and often make things much worse.
Which are those 2 ?
3 courses of antibiotics 3rd 1 finally worked most painfull thing iv ever had as a man 1 week of absolute torture
just have to share, I am hoping this inspires others struggling. I have PCOS and Hashimoto thryiod and I remember how I felt when the doctor told me it would be difficult for me to concieve naturally, now I have 4 children, very successful pregnancies, God blessed me with the use of herbs, the herbs helped me to manage Hashimoto and pcos my cycle was coming regularly after using so many supplement like metformin , but all to no avail
to be COMPLETELY honest i did do and will really really LOVE females sitting on toilets/potties while peeing/pottying and i did do and will enjoy it best when they react/respond to spell and/or say the word potty
Hi, which herbs do you use for Uti, tell name please
What did you use
I’m 72 and have chronic bladder infections. Recently theres been blood in my urine and now yeast. ☹️ Been seeing a Urologist.
This is an excellent presentation. Thank you.
Diagnosis: "Shift in flora suggestive of Bacterial Vaginosis"
7th Doctor - returned to the 5th Doctor with severe flu & same urine condition.
Find a urologist. Seriously. Not a GP.

Bless ya just can't seem to find a Dr willing to help
I'm urinating just about every 10 mins but after first flow it stops and I have to push it to get it out
Also I have sciatica and flared up again this morning
Seems we have to learn to become our own drs
Look up interstitial cystitis.
Excellent comment. It's true. UTI'S can cause confusion, delirium and irritability in some elderly patients.
to be COMPLETELY honest i did do and will really really LOVE females sitting on toilets/potties while peeing/pottying and i did do and will enjoy it best when they react/respond to spell and/or say the word potty
My dad went catatonic when he had a UTI
Dr Sinan another fantastic video 📹 👏. UTI is very common that we encounter in clinics. Pt or representative calls and says it a uti.
Thanks for the feedback Walker, great to read. I'm glad you found it useful! 🙂
I used to have issues into I stopped drinking soda pop and switched it for grape/cranberry juice and mostly water.
Juice has such hifh naturalnsugar ubr no better off. Water 6 to 2 oz.s juice.
Many people are shy of acknowledging infections and problems of the anus and sexual organs. So thank you doctor Sinen.
Any tips 😢
I know why I do, a prolapsed bladder...Cant keep having antibiotics, and possibly you become resistant to them.
Sex involving the butt,yes.
Omg. So far just a regurgitation of everything we have all heard.
