I just wanted to emphasize adding "lemon" to your water daily - very important to add citrates to prevent stones from forming. The juice from 1 lemon or 3 tbs of lemon juice.
I'VE SUFFERED FROM A KIDNEY STONE and it feels literally like there's a blunt screwdriver being dragged internally from your back. The pain is so severe that you can't even take two steps from where you are. It was from drinking too much ice tea. Today, I never even drink a cup of soda. Just lemon water mixed with apple cider vinegar x2 a day. Anyone reading this, PLS DO NOT WAIT. Kidney stones is one of the worst pains you will ever experience!
Dr. Berg - you are SO RIGHT in regards to the pain levels. I had a kidney stone 8 years ago. I was in a Barbers chair getting a haircut & this overwhelming trunk pain came over me. I made it home, then laid on the floor for a half hour, then called an ambulance because I was almost in shock from the pain. I was diagnosed with a Uric Acid stone. At the time I was obese. I was drinking black tea sweetened with Honey, along with a lot of regular Coca-Cola. I was eating a lot of nuts - especially Pistachios & Almonds. I was drinking whey protein drinks. And I was consuming Red Beets on a pretty regular basis. I was sent home from the hospital with Flomax, & was told to try and pass it at home because “my kidney stone was not large enough for Lithotripsy. For 4 days I couldn’t sleep, couldn’t defecate, couldn’t eat, & the only position that was comfortable was on my stomach kneeling down & hugging an ottoman. After 4 days of torture I decided through sheer willpower to scour the internet for remedies that would help me pass it. I found one remedy out of the UK that worked. Taking 4 tablespoons of Concentrated Lemon Juice mixed with 4 tablespoons of Olive Oil. I took it as much as I could stomach it - which was 5x’s per day. After 3 days I was pain free, but I never saw the stone. I asked my urologist: What happened to the stone? He said: YOU PULVERIZED IT! You did exactly what I would’ve had you do, except I would’ve prescribed Potassium Citrate for you. I got off all the junk I was eating & drinking. I have lost 150lbs on Keto & I filter my water thru a Berkey Water Filter system. Our water in Southern NJ is atrociously bad. I only drink water nowadays. I have not had a reoccurrence of a stone ever in the last 8 years.
Try distilled water. It's the purest water you can get. It's so clean, it leaches toxins out of the body. It'll also make you pee in just 30 min to an hour after drinking a generous amount and your pee will be very clear and you'll feel de-bloated.
Try this if you want to prevent Kidney Stones: Take 1 Glass of Water Boil it with - *Coriander leaves (fresh) + Lemon sliced in half (with skin) + 1tsp Cumin seed.* Boil it until it gets half in quantity. Drink it. Repeat this twice a month and thank me later.
@@PeaceNinja007 The BIG problem with distilled water is that it is too clean; all the minerals have been removed from it. So when you drink it, the water removes the minerals from your body for itself. Then you pee out your minerals. Now you must replace your minerals.
@@pabloblanco2656 I don't drink from brands that add minerals. Smart Water is one example. They purify their water through steam distillation but then add minerals after. I personally don't like that. I don't like the taste and it's not necessary. The brands I stick to are store brands that not only distill their water but also ozonate it.
Thankyou for sharing this. My kidney stone experience was brutally painful. I’ve never experienced so much pain in my life. I honestly thought I would die on the way to the hospital. Thankfully, the doctor at the ER gave me a pain inhibitor and injected some sort of medicine that put me to sleep right away. When I woke up, they told me it was a kidney stone. I took some medication and voila! The stone exited without any pain. Have been drinking lots of water every day since then!
Thanks for sharing this, Dr. Berg. As a health care professional, I've seen men cry in pain because of a kidney stone and I've heard women say it is more painful than childbirth. I always hoped that I would never get kidney stone.
I passed them about 4x a yr. Had both types, even had the hydro blasting. Passed 32 over the next few days. Got them down to 2x every couple of yrs. Now hardly ever, & yes the pain is worse than giving birth, I had 1 soo bad it puked & passed out quite a few time that day. My urologist gave me a list of what not to eat, basically I should just dig a hole & bury myself. 😅 I drink crystal lite lemonade in the summer & tea (iced) all winter, by adding green tea to my black it seems to have reduced the tannins.
A doctor told me that I would do very well if I drink 1 cup of water every hour. So I started doing just that, I set a reminder on my phone to remind me every hour. I feel so much better and more energy.
I have a genetic kidney condition called Cystinuria and understand that pain only too well. I've passed hundreds of stones of various sizes and had multiple operations over the last 10 years to remove obstructive stones. One was 3cm and required 4 operations over 5 months and required a nephrostomy bag for that time to protect my kidney. Oh, and I only have one functioning kidney. What you say about kidney stones removing your sense of humour is so true :)
Just want to share my experience! The amount of water I drink is not relevant to form a kidney stone or not. I usually drink about no more than 1 liter/day last 5 years. But every morning I drink about 300 ml water and half lemon sqeezed. Never had a kidney stone since that moment with 1 exception! I decided to do keto for 1 month and excluded the lemon from the water and believe me I made a stone on the 10-th day! Then I began to put the lemon in the water again and already 1 year have no problems at all! Advise you all to drink water and lemon every day!
I would aim for at least a half gallon of water a day. 1 liter is really not enough especially if you drink any diarrhetics like tea or coffee... or anything with sugar.
* *Ivan Dimitrov,* * I'm glad for you. Watch the video again, at 8:45 - He recommends 2.5 liters a day. If your job discription requires arduous physical labor, as mine does, drink even more. I blew my doctor away with my last urine and blood results. He - *ASKED ME* - how I corrected everything at age 63, without prescribed medicine(s).
@@JamminClemmons I learnt to listen to my body. I don't eat when I am not hungry, the same I don't drink, when I am not thirsty. I have days, when I drink 4 liters, but have other days, when I don't drink at all. Especially when I make 48-72 hours dry fasting. The body is much more intelligent than us and it is telling us , everything it needs exactly in the right moment and the amount it requires. Just listen to it! Of course, this is true, only if you don't poison yourself with sugar and drug your brain to prevent it, working properly.
It’s very helpful to see transparency on medical experts when recommending or advising the communities the way you do thank you! On behalf every single person that watches you.
My father and my uncle lost one kidney due to kidney stones. I'm grateful to have discovered this channel at a young age which could help me prevent many health problems.
Having kidney stones on three occasions really reset my pain threshold. Now I rarely bother with pain relief medication because my tollerance for pain has risen immensely. I have added lemon juice to my diet (as a dressing on many foods) and as part of my favourite drink: a "cranberry crush". This drink consists of 200ml cranberry juice (NOT cranberry-flavored sugar-water), 50ml of squeezed lemon juice and the balance (to taste) of soda water and a few ice-cubes. This drink has done wonders for my urinary system, eliminating the need to get up and pee at night and eliminating any further issues with kidney stones (it's been four years now). Tastes pretty good too! Perhaps it's the low pH, the effect of the citrates or just pure placebo -- I don't know... all I know is that it works.
Nice ! Same here with the pain. I have a prescription for pain meds as backup but haven’t needed it for years now. I’ve passed several stones and CT scan shows I have 15 more…..lots of water and I switched from ice cream to frozen yogurt …..so far so good it’s been a few years now and trouble free
I agree that it reset my threshold of pain. I used to say “it’s not as bad as labor pain”, but now “it’s not as bad as a stuck kidney stone.” And it was only 2mm!
Cranberry is bad for oxalate kidney stones. I took a cranberry supplement everyday, had very little vegetables and just animal protein, drank little water and only carbonated (sparkling) water. This was the diet that resulted in my kidney stone.
As a Dr and a kidney stone patient my self, I would often notice on patients charts who had a history of kidney stones. I would then ask those mothers which was the worst pain, child birth or kidney stones. Over 95% said they would take the child birth pain over the kidney stone pain. That should give you an idea of the severity of kidney stone pain.
Yup. I had a baby, and when she was two weeks old I basically collapsed in pain, started shaking, sweating and vomiting. I passed out on the floor from pain and was rushed to the ER. I was vomiting all over, they had to knock me out. I then told them I'm experiencing pain worse than my natural childbirth two weeks before. I described birthing contractions as a 10 out of 10 pain, and I mean I was in so much pain I ended up being naked in the hospital bathroom ripping my hospital gown off, and a lady walked in and I didn't even care because the pain was so horrific. And the kidney stone pain was worse, waaaay worse than that. Way worse. 20 out of 10. I'd give birth again any day than have that kidney stone pain I experienced 🤢
I've not had children, but comparing a "full blockage" kidney stone to a 50mph car wreck... I'd say that while a dozen broken bones is more troublesome in the long term, on the day of the event, the kidney stone hurts considerably more.
@@clemclemson9259 I have low blood calcium level. And I have already 2 stones. Can you please Explain me Relationship betw calcium level and kidney stone.
Childbirth comes with a baby at the end. Not only is that something to look forward to, but chances are you knew the more intense it got the closer you were to the end. That and many women are drugged up during childbirth and can barely feel what their body is doing, or help it. That’s not how I did it, but that’s how most people do it in the US.
My blood went cold when you said 10mm. I went to the ER with a 3mm stone and have been drinking water like a fish ever since. Thank you for the great information, doc. You're doing God's work.
And i have also heard once a person gets kidney stone they're more likely to get it in next two three years. Oh man! That one stone pain had me die and I couldn't bear the fact of getting one more and that fear alone just makes me chug on lots and lots of water
I have TRIED more than 10 medications for my stone problem..it is a very old problem..I had more than 12 stones in both my kidneys..I used WARSTONE DS Treatment and it helped me to relieve at least 7-8 stones from the kidneys,,still 2-3 stones are left..but still it is BETTER than most of the medicines.. 🙂
My partner went through this same thing a few years ago. Agonizing night, and he was practically delirious. Got through it with some pain meds, herbs pharm stone breaker, hydrangea root, and lots of fluids. Even passing the sand was painful. We learned so much! Thanks for this video, Dr. Berg, and all you do.
As someone who has suffered from kidney stones for 30 years, the best thing to do is get your stones analyzed and find out what they are made of. My first several stones were 100% uric acid, which is unusual and is the opposite of calcium based stones. The reason for knowing the composition of your kidney stones is that the treatment for calcium based stones (medications and diet) is usually different from treating uric acid based stones, even though there may be oxalates in either of them, and even though drinking a lot of water is important non matter what the kidney stones are made of. The amount of uric acid in your body increases when on a low carb diet, which may cause uric acid based kidney stones. So while the vast majority of people who have kidney stones, have calcium based stones (with or without oxalates), I would expect a higher percentage of the population who are on a low carb diet (and people who view this channel) to be at risk for high levels of uric acid in the blood, and uric acid based stones. In addition to causing uric acid kidney stones, high levels of uric acid may cause gout. Uric acid stones don't show up on x-rays very well (or at all), unless the x-ray is done with a contrast IV, and even then may not be readily visible. Calcium based stones are usually easily visible in a simple KUB x-ray. Since retrieving a kidney stone to analyze it can sometimes be difficult or impossible, have your doctor do a simple uric acid blood test to either confirm or rule out whether you have high levels of uric acid. Many doctors will not do this test because uric acid stones are somewhat unusual compared to the incidence of calcium based stones, but insist on the uric acid blood test. Fortunately. there are specific medications that will lower the amount of uric acid in the bloodstream. However, as Dr. Berg explained, drinking a lot of water to dilute the urine in the kidney is still important regardless of what type of kidney stone you have, but that may not be enough if your uric acid levels (or other chemicals in your urine) are too high.
Thank you Dr.Eric Berg DC, I passed out my 1.4 cm. kidney stone and 30 little more naturally. Yeah the pain is worst, and I've been hospitalized for a week, but what helps me the most is that I follow most of your advice. Thank you!
I've had 4 of these. I swear I was going to die. And they are never smooth, they look like those ninja throwing stars. May God protect us from these stones. They are no joke.
I had a kidney stone about 12 years ago. I am a quiet shy type person and I was screaming in the ER for morphine!! The pain was off the chart!!! The doc told me to avoid spinach and drink lemon water and predicted that if I didn't I would have another stone in 7 years! Thank God I listened and have been drinking lots of lemon water every since! This was a great video Dr Berg! I eat kiwi every day for the vitamin C not knowing it was full of oxalates! I pray I never have another one!!!
Oh I know what you mean. When I was in the ER with a stone, the guy was taking his dear sweet time starting an IV. And I yelled at him "Just xxxxing stick it in!". He said "well I don't want to hurt you...". And I said "you could stab me with a knife right now and I wouldn't notice, just stick it the xxxx in" Definitely not my usual choice of language, especially with my dad standing right there. Fortunately for me, I think it was a fluke event. I've never had one before or since. But I did drink lemon water for a few years after, and I still avoid oxalates.
@@kathrynck I just had a stone about 3 weeks ago, first time ever I've had morphine. No "high'' but DAMN when it wore off, I was cursing like a sailor! Pain like that... never want to experience that again in my life (and I had a 36 hour no drug delivery of my first child). Stick with the lemon water 🍋
Very timely! I was in the ER last weekend and did not know what was going on as I had never had one before. The pain was worse than anything I’d ever felt in 55 years. Lemon juice is part of my daily routine now, that’s for sure, as well as eliminating high oxalate foods I thought were otherwise healthy. (I am a vegetarian.) Love your videos, Dr. Berg! Thank you!
Wow! Watching this video and reading the comments made me hurt all over again. I used to suffer terribly from kidney stones and you are all so right. The pain is unbelievable! Beyond excruciating. I can tell you, these six tips are essential parts of my life now. Stayed dissolved, my friends.
Same exact thing happened to me. My stone was the size of a marble. I had to have emergency lithotripsy. Worst experience ever. Then, 7 years later it happened again. Slightly smaller stone. Laser surgery this time. Now I’m on Keto and IF and I drink enough water and lemon juice, so all good for the last 10 years.
I had 2 kidney stones last month and the pain felt like I was giving birth to my 3rd child! I'm definitely drinking more water as I never took time to drink much and watching my diet as well. Thank you so much for this informative video! I've learned so much from all of them❤❤❤
Just went through a horrific experience with lithotripsy for a 1.3CM stone, ended up back in the ER after, I had several bouts of obstructions, I found your advice on straight lemon juice and lying on the effected side and each time the following morning passed a large fragment, thank you for the helpful information you share!
I had a large 1.5cm stone removed a year ago. Had to have a procedure where they went in through my back to my kidney. Never had trouble with stones until the last 2 1/2 years.
Awww the old kidney stones ,, you have brought back memories that I want to forget ,, 3 times I’ve experienced kidney stones, about 3 to 4 yrs apart ,, only small ones ,but the pain WOW !! 😩,, Yes ,water ,keep drinking water.
I've gone through this myself, you can't even describe the agony. Fortunately I managed to get to the hospital quickly and they helped me straight away. It is something that cannot be helped at home with home remedies. Best to prevent the stones to form in the first place . Thank you for your advice dr Berg - it's precious
You have to be conscious about your diet. Choosing the right food & right quantity will help not depending on a doctor or someone else will. Home remedies are for avoiding problems in first case not making condition worse by eating unhealthy and then getting on a doctor
Dr. Berg My name is Erik and I drink quite a bit of tea, but astonishingly. I have been drinking 1 gallon of water every single day of my life for almost 4 years straight. I never miss a day at all for any reason it is a pure habit now. Please tell me my kidneys are squeaky clean.
I've had complications for about four years, and have passed several stones now (at least 10). The most recent was this past Wednesday (7mm). I never knew that carbohydrates could correlate to the development of kidney stones. I will definitely apply these preventative steps. Thank you for sharing.
@@Kurtis11266 It mainly consisted of meats, vegetables, and some fruit. About the same as everyone in my household. However, I'm the only one afflicted with kidney stones. The main difference in diet is that everyone else drinks coffee. I would instead have an energy drink during lunch at work, and my absolute favorite green is spinach- I could practically live on it. Easily having it a few times a week as a salad. Everyone else only has it once a month or so. Another factor which I believe contributed greatly was frequently allowing myself to become dehydrated throughout the work day, and my go to drink tactic during the sweat-drenched work week was alternating between water and Gatorade. I've since changed my diet significantly. No more energy drinks, spinach, or any other sugary drinks such as Gatorade. Strictly water now- 64oz per shift, at the least. I actually cut Gatorade and spinach from my diet 6 months ago, and haven't had any issues until the most recent stone. Unfortunately, I wasn't maintaining hydration as well once the cold weather set in.
@@TexSky88 Man I sort of consider myself lucky for not having them, for 7+ years I was addicted to energy drinks, but I was also super hydrated because I was reminded all the time "those things will give you kidney stones", so I probably drink at least 3.5L/day. I'm also off them now and I only drink water and lemon water (my body can't even handle caffeine anymore after being abused so much). We're in this together bud. Admittedly at work I sometimes get dehydrated
Dr Berg, you are so wonderfully informed. You present the causes and solutions in your soothing voice. You are a generous blessing to so many. Thank you and God bless you.
Thank you dear Dr. Berg. This topic is very helpful for my mother, she has kidney stone. She completely changed her diet and also she does IF and she can see great results so far.
I was in Seattle Washington when I experienced that pain I called 911 and I was screaming I am dying from my home to the emergency room what triggered that was wine I just started drinking wine I never touch wine again the dr said it was a crystal stone knows I live with kidney disease I think God gave me a gift on earth so that I pay attention to what really matters when I was healthy I was very busy with worldly stuff I really didn’t know who I was I am very grateful and happy that I have found God in this journey and my journey on earth is smooth

My experience was properly diagnosed as a stone by the paramedics and the worst pain ever on my left side was described as 'flanking". At the hospital a nurse described it as 'like trying to pass a pinecone along and thru a woman's nylon stocking." It took over a week to finally pass, the worst debilitating pain in my life. Do the water and lemon !
This was years before I started on a healthy keto diet. A few years ago, I flew from Alaska to New Jersey, a few days later I ended up with kidney stones, and yes, I’m sure they were already forming before my trip. When the pain started I could hardly breath. I ended up in an ambulance and then in the ER where they gave me something to dissolve the stones. It took a long time. I NEVER want to go through that pain again. Thank you Dr Berg.
I had ONE episode of a Kidney stone... That's all I needed thank you very much. Dr. Berg reminds me so vividly the INTENSE pain and the visit to the ER... Luckily not at 3 AM, Fortunately I passed the stone naturally and the pain went away. The testing showed that the trace amount of blood in the urine had gone to zero, so I got off lucky! It's a pain like none other! TRUST ME...You do not want any part of this!!! Stay hydrated, especially on hot days when your sweating a lot & Do what Dr. Berg says and you'll be alright!
I am going through this now! Week of Thanksgiving I woke up and could not pee. In tremendous pain. Just a little dark blood came out. Go to the emergency room, they did a CAT scan and found that both ureters were stopped up with stones the largest being 9mm. There are 5 or 6 on each side. I went to the operating room to have the procedure done to extract them. They couldn't go through with the procedure because infection had set in. Surgeon said if they did the procedure while infected I would be very sick. He put stints in both sides so I could urinate and gave antibiotics intravenously and sent me home with more to take orally. I am presently in no pain but the stones are still lodged in there. In a few weeks I go back for the procedure. Sheesh! I will be glad when this over. I usally pass stones on my own. Not this time though. Thanks for the video.
7MM stone ke liye 27 days treatment WARSTONE DS medicne ka recoemmend kiya gya tha muje.. it's super effective..21st day hi muje urine ke samay stone dikh gya niklte huye..kamaal ka ilaaj hai bhai..
Dr berg , I am Pharm D graduate and have been through this problem alot since my childhood. I have been using corn silk extract, berberis plant extract and lemon juice and these have helped me alot. I was more prone to potatoes for developing stones. I love your content alot and am your biggest fan from Pakistan. I was prediabetic back in 2020 and guess what i started intermittent fasting and keto diet. Now my A1c is at 5.0 💕 I have been doing HIIT as well. Thanks alot you are a gem.
Thanks I’ve had kidney stones twice. The first one last a few hours and I think I passed it. It’s the only time I felt I was going to pass out from pain, as you said THE worst pain. Interestingly at the time I was consuming vitamin c on a regular basis. That was when I was in my 40’s I’m now 71 and nothing since thank goodness.
Had hypercalcemia that doctors kept telling me my calcium levels aren’t that high. Well they were wrong. I was getting kidney stones a lot for years. I finally had parathyroid surgery this year and had a huge tumor removed, haven’t had any kidney stones since. Yes they’re excruciatingly painful. I used herb pharm stone breaker, chanca piedra and it worked wonders to break up the stones when I got them, and yes I drink lots of water.
Been there and passing a kindney stone is the absolute worst experience in life. Worst than childbirth. Praise the Lord for lemon and water. I also stopped high Oxilate foods and reduced carbs.
Parathyroid surgery has been mentioned as a possibility for me due to increased calcium levels and the results of a thyroid ultra sound exam. I will be seeing a specialist next week, My initial reaction to the mention of surgery was "no" but I am now considering it. I will know more after my appointment. I would appreciate any info you would be willing to share regarding your experience. I have no pain and have never had kidney stones.
I had this woeful experience few years ago. I always think that when you advice people to make Keto food with almond flour to at least warning them that this is not for everyone. Most of the Keto diet food made from almond flour, which is high in oxalate. Also consuming a lots of greens including spinach that’s really high in oxalate.. also I’m glad that you changed your mind about drinking water and how much water should people drink. Because you were against drinking a lot of water which it’s crucial to prevent kidney stones.
My kidney stone was 2004. I like the "True Lemon" packets! They contain: Citric acid, lemon oil and lemon juice. The only reason "citric acid" is listed as an ingredient is because when they concentrate it, the levels are high enough that it's considered it's own ingredient. Then when you add water, each packet goes back to the levels of 1 lemon wedge.
Hey Doctor Berg, we are glad that you are feeling well. Although you mentioned all the reasons that can cause kidney stones but you didn’t mention what mistake you did and led to that situation 😬 Thank you and God bless.
Thank you for sharing this! I had kidney stones for eleven years and I 100% agree with all of that! My stone was 11mm and was almost as bad as childbirth. ♥️♥️♥️
I couldn’t- I had to have them blasted as my stone was bigger than my tube- they said it was one of the biggest they’ve ever seen. I had a great experience though they did an amazing job xx
Whenever I consume coffee I get kidney pains in a few hours. I experienced it thrice so skipped coffee completely and I never had the pain ever again. Hope it helps.
I haven't had a kidney stone since going on healthy keto, but wouldn't be surprised if there was an old one lurking. One thing I found to help get stones moving is to have someone pat (not hit) your back about where the stone is, then jump up and down. I felt silly doing it, but it works.
They're super painful, but if you can pass them it feels so good. In my experience it leaves no lingering pain. Once it's out, it takes all that severe achy and sharp pain with it.
So sorry to hear about your darling wife’s diagnosis. Check out “beat cancer naturally” channel. You may both get some help there. Much luck and God bless you both.
Currently on day four in the hospital, having surgery tomorrow to remove all the stones in the ureter and kidney..it's absolutely one of the worst pains I've experienced.
I spent Labor Day in the ER, worst pain imaginable for 6 hours, constant agony in my right abdomen. CT scan showed 2 more stones in kidney and was scheduled for shock wave treatment but both stones passed with not much pain before procedure. It's definitely the shape of the stone rather than the size that gets you... Dr. told me that women told him that childbirth was a piece of cake compared to stones passing! I wouldn't wish this pain on my worst enemy.
CTs are only as good as the tech and the radiologist interpretation. It sounds like you are one of the few who had real professionals to find the source of the pain. Most radiologists are incompetent and as you're laying in agony the jackasses say "everything looks good, we can't find anything" even though they have million dollar technology at their disposal that SHOWS them the problem(s)
That's pure exaggeration tho, that doc pretending women told him child birth is a piece of cake.. I wish him to go through child birth, and not only once, then maybe we could talk!
@@Ice.muffin Yep, that's what the head urologist said to me! He said multiple women who experienced both told him that. There are women replying to this vid that are saying that, also! Obviously, I'll never be able to compare and wouldn't want to!
I've had 4 episodes of stones in 4 years and one of them was over 9mm. 5 episodes in my life. They were calcium oxilate stones. Mine were zapped and removed with a LASER. Then I had to have a stent for about a week afterwards. So I know all of the trials and pain of stones. I'm all ears in knowing how to prevent them. QUESTION: do artificial sweeteners like splenda cause these types of stones?
I totally feel for you and I suffered the same kind of kidney stone pain some years back! It's the most intense pain I have ever felt. Almost felt like dying for sure. Take care and drink lots of water.
Thank you for reminding me to drink eleclights & massage therapy with my kidney stone. Hopefully it was the last kidney stone but it helped me so very much. Including drinking more electrolyte water. Appreciate your video so much. I was in so much pain knew I had a kidney stone on left side.
I lived in the kidney stone belt. We always attributed it to limestone in the water. Now one lady told me she never had kidney stones until her doctor put her on calcium supplements. She went off of them.
Dr Berg you have shown a photo of all this different kind of kidney stones, but you have spoken only about the calcium oxilate stone. Could you please make a video of all other kind of stones that can develop in the kidney and how to prevent them as well?
Same over here. The pain was soo terrible my wife wanted to call for an ambulance. Bud then the pain subsided a little. The next morning, I went to the doctor. He tested my urine and it's showed no blood particles. He did a further exam and he concluded I had a double inguinal hernia. I was operated on weeks later. 3 weeks after the operation I still had the same pain. Urine was tested 2 more times, and nothing showed up. Two days later I passed an 8mm kidney stone and the pain was gone. I was able the safe the stone and it was sent to a laboratory. It was 50% calcium oxalate and 50%uric acid. The doctor ordered an ultrasound that showed there is one more kidney stone in my left kidney. There's no way of telling when it breaks loose.
I've a kidney stone presently, been drinking potassium citrate, the stone is on my left side, I am getting spasms, I was told to use Rowatinex capsules.
Oh yes, they hurt. Mine was stuck in the tube and had to be laser removed. I was ready to climb the walls and panting non-stop. Wearing the stent after surgery wasn’t fun either. Now I am 🍋every day and lots of water. It did feel like labor pains. Stay hydrated and away from spinach, almonds, and chocolate.
I have had at least 10 incidents of stones that took me to the hospital. The one before the last bilateral set I had was a stag horn stone that had to actually be cut out of my back and kidney. The worst thing is that NOT ONE DOCTOR told me that changing my diet would help. I found the info online. And now more great info here.
I had that pain in BOTH kidneys and was throwing up all night long every hour. The next day, I was told that was how my body was trying to kill the pain.
Kidney stone + Medicaid = Nightmare. I was in the Emergency Room 6 times for 1 stone. Each time, the doctors said the stone was too large to pass, and I needed immediate surgery. And each time, Medicaid denied the surgery. Took 3 months for the stone to finally pass. Lots of water, tea with lemon juice and parsley, and an Rx to dilate the urinary tract to give the stone more space to pass.
My new favorite video. 🙄 I am a stone producer. Last one was 8 millimeters, thankfully that passed without pain. I drank tons of water and "pure" organic cranberry juice. I know cranberry juice isn't supposed to help that...maybe visualization of the extreme acidic juice (in my mind) helped dissolve that one. And, I jumped up and down too. My first stone was like yours only I did throw up in an ER examination room alone waiting an hour for someone to come help me. Crawled to the bathroom to throw up. That was so long ago and I've passed a few more but nothing like that. I do drink water with juice from an organic lemon but not 10 cups a day. I think I should start! Thanks for this video, it's information, and for sharing your your personal experience. ♥️
I had kidney stone, it was horribly painful. I treated myself by drinking 2.5 ltr thickly concentrated lemmon juice water. Gradually, my pain disappeared little by little in a few days.
Oh Baba I’m sooooooo sorry that you had to experience that. It broke my heart when they said, Can it wait til the morning. Thanks for sharing and helping prevent that for all us ❤️☀️
Worst pain I’ve ever felt. The only time I’ve gone to the ER for help. I was vomiting from the pain. At the hospital the nurse asked me on a scale of 1-10 what I was feeling. I said 9.5. She said what are you saving the other 0.5 for? I said I’d never stuck my arm in a wood chipper and I was allowing room for that to maybe feel worse.
I've had many of these episodes over the past 25 years. My record is 8 stones on one x-ray. Those 2 carat size stones are really painful. So far, eating poke berries have stopped them cold.
Interesting. Have people advised you of their supposed poisonous nature? While modern medicine reviles them, old school naturopaths used them and spoke on their benefits. I have made poke extract with the leaves -- very powerful.
@@lisaglassic9792I have read that too! There is scientific research that exists on the cancer eradicating properties. It is of course encoded with numbers and initials and not discussed directly.
I am surprised that not many people have ureter damage. My husband had a 10cm stone. It caused significant damage to the ureter to the point in now develops scarring. He now needs to have ureter reconstruction surgery.
I also had a 10mm stone. The pain is unreal. Stone is gone now & urologist says there is "Randall's plague" there. Can you speak on that? Thank you very much for all your incredible knowledge & expertise.
@@clemclemson9259 Hi, I had fluctuation in my parathyroid tests, I asked the doctor but he asked me to ignore it! I don't trust all doctors and they don't give complete information. Could you suggest how you went about this if you had a parathyroid issue?
I've seen a friend turn white with the pain of a kidney stone. In my own case as a spinabifida sufferer the inflammation l get in the spine can sometimes knock me clean out cold.
I just wanted to emphasize adding "lemon" to your water daily - very important to add citrates to prevent stones from forming. The juice from 1 lemon or 3 tbs of lemon juice.

When I had my kidney stone (about your size) I did lemon juice and olive oil to dissolve it enough to pass. Hope u never have one again.
I had a kidney stone once and never want another one. It was the most excruciating pain I’ve ever experienced.
is lime juice as effective?
After watching your videos doctor I am regular in drinking lemon water. Thanks for sharing.
Amen dude. I feel like there should be a kidney stone group where men can discuss their kidney stones together.
Bless you
Absolutely! My pain twice was in my right side/abdomen. It is truly the stuff of nightmares.
we are drinking lemon or lime juice with water and stevia quite often with dinner now in part to help prevent stones.
Imagine women giving birth 🤰 man! No man can resist that pain. And to think that some men leave their kids abandoned? No no mercy for those men ! 😂
@@PeaceNinja007 depends on the brand. Some add minerals that are removed during distillation
The only time in my life that I saw my dad crying with tears and complaining about pain was when he had a kidney stone. Never forget that moment.😔
I'm feel so sorry to your daddy. How did you help him....
I hear you!
Asad Khan What medication did you take that helped pass your kidney stone?
What medication u took pls tell I too have two kidney stones to exited stone. ?
Were you ever using aciclovir by any chance? Or living in a country with flouridated water?
Wish it never back again, enjoy your life:)
Thanks for sharing this, Dr. Berg. As a health care professional, I've seen men cry in pain because of a kidney stone and I've heard women say it is more painful than childbirth. I always hoped that I would never get kidney stone.
Yes - mine felt like labor pain!
How often do you get them?
Just want to share my experience! The amount of water I drink is not relevant to form a kidney stone or not. I usually drink about no more than 1 liter/day last 5 years. But every morning I drink about 300 ml water and half lemon sqeezed. Never had a kidney stone since that moment with 1 exception! I decided to do keto for 1 month and excluded the lemon from the water and believe me I made a stone on the 10-th day! Then I began to put the lemon in the water again and already 1 year have no problems at all! Advise you all to drink water and lemon every day!
Your testimony is very helpful, thank you.
Great advice

Thank you for this information!

And I said "you could stab me with a knife right now and I wouldn't notice, just stick it the xxxx in"
Definitely not my usual choice of language, especially with my dad standing right there.
Fortunately for me, I think it was a fluke event. I've never had one before or since. But I did drink lemon water for a few years after, and I still avoid oxalates.

what is your diet like if you have that many stones?

Best of luck with your procedure. I had it done last June. I'm still having flank pain and Drs have no idea why. 😩

wow - interesting
I had the same thing but three years later I still have stones. Parathyroid levels are normal.
Were the stones affecting both kidneys, or just one? My stones are always on my right side...so far!
Im glad doctor u recovered. It was painful and scary to hear everything. Useful tips. Thanks
When a man asks his girl to take him to a hospital, *NO it cannot wait*
Almost unbelievable that this woman asks him to wait for her to finish her beauty sleep.
Hahahaha
Fr... wife has some sympathy
Drink 84 ounces: is carbonated water ok? is coffee ok? green tea ok? Does cranberry juice (pure) play any beneficial role in prevention?
I passed one in outback Australia, 15 hour drive to a hospital, stopped countless times to pee even though nothing came out, it was hell!
Wow

I love that Dr. Berg goes over the same topic over and over.
Thanks. Hope you are learning a lot here.
Hey Doctor Berg, we are glad that you are feeling well.
Although you mentioned all the reasons that can cause kidney stones but you didn’t mention what mistake you did and led to that situation 😬
Thank you and God bless.
I think he inferred that he wasn't eating a healthy diet & he didn't have the knowledge of health, the body, diet, etc., that he does now.
Chanca Piedra helped me pass 4 BOULDERS at once. I got it at Whole Foods and after years of suffering I will always use this!!
Thank you for sharing this!
I had kidney stones for eleven years and I 100% agree with all of that! My stone was 11mm and was almost as bad as childbirth. ♥️♥️♥️
So how did you manage to pass it out
I couldn’t- I had to have them blasted as my stone was bigger than my tube- they said it was one of the biggest they’ve ever seen.
I had a great experience though they did an amazing job xx
@@brookeyjade6484 ok thanks for replying me

Dr berg amazing recovery my wife has pancreas liver cancer I cried all day yesterday she said how will I survive without her whew rough stuff
I'm enjoying these longer, in depth videos. Thank you and please keep them coming.
I have had it maybe 17 years ago and I STILL remember the exact feeling of it!!...
What is 10 kilometers down?
I had a very similar situation. Passed one on my left side, then 4 months later had a bigger one stuck in my ureter. 🙏

I had kidney stones. The thumbnail of this video freaks me out. Thank you for the information Dr. Berg :-)

I treated myself by drinking
2.5 ltr thickly concentrated lemmon juice water. Gradually, my pain disappeared little by little in a few days.
How often did you drink this before the stone went away?
Wow! This is like the best video about kidney stones. Thank you Dr. Berg. You have helped so many people

@@Worlds_to_Explore And the roots are very beneficial, too. All done with the utmost care and research.
A dry socket from tooth removal (wisdom teeth) 3 of them, is also the most painful thing. Basic pain-killers couldn't stop it.
i had this omg i was writhing in pain... my dentist didnt do a proper job and i was messed uppp
I agree. Worse than kidney stones
Excellent video, Thanks so much Doctor Eric Berg! You're inspiring me to be a doctor in my next life!
I’m there with you Dr Berg.. I’ve had countless stones mine is genetic my entire family has had it all the way back to my great grandfather
I use 3 lemons in water after my workout. So revitalizing!
I also had a 10mm stone. The pain is unreal. Stone is gone now & urologist says there is "Randall's plague" there. Can you speak on that? Thank you very much for all your incredible knowledge & expertise.
