Exactly. In the 1950s a pistol was a one handed weapon. In the 60s that started to change because of outside the box thinkers like Jeff Cooper. This is how things evolve and improve.
One thing you didn't seem to touch on, but seems to be a benefit of this as well is the retention. It's already well-retained, especially compared to something like your shorty AR, so it would be harder for someone to get hold of it in basically any self-defense scenario, at home or otherwise. That, and you're not sacrificing anything like you would trying to use a regular pistol, AR, etc.
you know, or that strap is used to point the gun at your chin in a manner your human kinematics make it absolutely impossible to defend against your own weapon being used against you. but forget all that. rimfire self defense! because my life aint worth shit!

Was thinking of writing a story where a retired spec ops vet is hired to sneak into some gang compound and rescue a kid, Metal Gear Solid style. Originally I was thinking of some small suppressed MP5 variant, but this seems like it may be way better for that scenario. Smaller, better for close quarters, still has a lot of rounds.
You might have just created the ultimate "trailer park and apartment yuppie" bump in the night gun and PDW for the reasons you outlined. 22lr might not have the inherit velocity with larger rifle or pistol calibers but with the speed and accuracy you can achieve for that first shot can throw that argument out the window. Compact fire position, high capacity platform, fast sighting and low recoil/concussion even in enclosed spaces. Aces all the way for 99% of real world threats a civilian would possibly face.
@@demonstratedconceptsllc4918 I'd take it a step further and argue this has the potential to be the next best vehicle defense gun. One hand steering and the other already cheating the draw/ and or already having it up and presented to the threat (not advisable in all but very few scenarios). A compact light/laser combo would bring this to that next level by allowing you to focus on navigating away from danger but still being able to react defensively by using the laser as your aiming reference . While I don't advocate supporting Chinese manufacturing the Olight Baldr Mini is the only one that can possibly fit the form factor for this gun. Bonus for its QD magnetic charging cable allowing for bedside/car usb port charging without requiring it to be deliberately unplugged. Only possinle con that would need to be tested is how 22lr would start to behave if you had to shoot through windshield glass or if laser aiming is affected by refraction.
As for .22LR, I would much rather fire 5-6 shots accurately in the time it would take for me to get 2 rounds of .45 or 9mm. I hope people will start taking this round more seriously. I don’t see the need for single round stopping power. Mathematically, it’s a lower probability situation of hitting a lethal shot if you are relegating yourself to 1 (or maybe 2 rounds). I think most people would GTFO if they got shot by a single round of .22LR anyway. And if you can pull off 5-6 rounds they might not be running at all.
Also I’m sure if fired indoors it’s loud enough to confuse anyone besides an enthusiast as to which caliber it is. Not that they’d have much time to ponder that as they now suddenly feel 12 burning pin pricks center mass.
I've watched a lot of your cheek pistol videos and I think you've just about sold me on trying your CP33 setup. I dig outside of the box thinking and that's definitely what you've been doing. Not just with the cheek pistol, but with everything on your channel. Super cool stuff! 🙏
Really love the info provided regarding this particular caliber and kel-tec system. Funny thing is my 22/45 Lite is my go to duty pistol, do to the fact that it is very lite and hits small groups very well and is well balanced.
Bought a CP33 for myself not long ago, along with a Holosun 503CU- GR, and have begun working with it in this cheek pistol style. Had a rough start with it getting the magazines loaded right but the speed loader Kel Tec sells is a life saver in that regard. Still not great with some ammo but with most any 40 grn solids it is very reliable. Stupid simple to get rapid x ring hits within 20 yrds and lots of fun. Thanks for the work you have put into this concept and sharing it, looking forward to more of your thoughts on this firearm and it's application.
Wow, super interested. I tried to build something like this 15 years ago on 10/22 charger platform, but it was a bit long and heavy, and I was trying to grip it like a macro pistol, just didn't work. Tried again with 22/45 and push out method, and was too small. Sad to say at the time I wrote off .22 sold the rugers and 1000s of rounds of ammo. I think this keltec, at it's "in between" sizing, clever optics mount, and your innovative way to grip it, is really groundbreaking. It's like bullets coming out of your eyeballs, seems a very intuitive platform. It is interesting the aiming comes so natural, without the pointing arm strait forward method that is so popular today.
Ok Rhett, This is working out VERY WELL with my CP33!!! CP33 now stands for Cheek Pistol 33! I'm also better with this arrangement than my AR or any pistol. Pretty sick. People laugh, giggle and snicker until they try it. Then its a look of bewilderment, then a smile.

Appreciate the work you do in sharing the methods you've developed. How would you utilize a hand light or weapon light (if mounting a light is possible) with this setup?
Biggest issues are double the size and weight. This would be an issue for some shooters. When considering that those guns are also balanced much further forward of the grip, many would find it uncomfortable to hold one handed in the cheeked position.
Still trying to find a platform I can use this concept with. Complications: I live in CA, and I’m left handed and left eye dominant. Please no replies about moving, I’ve heard them all before.
If you had a choice of caliber for a gun like this would you stick to .22lr or would you go bigger? Is there a caliber out there that you think would be better in a cheek pistol or are you content with the performance of the .22? I know you experimented with the B&t TP9 as well. If you could have the 9mm capability of the TP9 in the form factor of the CP33 would you take that over a .22? I know going up to 9mm would add weight and reduced capacity. Would it be worth it in your opinion?
A third point of hard contact marrying the eye to the gun is far more beneficial than floating a gun on sling tension alone. Sling doesn’t provide the repeatable index that cheek does. You can use sling tension while cheeking.
It makes me wonder if a Mech Tech upper w/a Glock lower wouldn't give you a slightly bigger gun but more variety in caliber ? Do you feel 22LR is the largest caliber you would want that close to your face ?

@@demonstratedconceptsllc4918 I'm really impressed with your out of the box thinking - so much so that I ordered a suppressor, & an optics riser (like you've got), along with a rail cover for cheek comfort. ...The only thing I'm doing different (other than suppressing it), is that I'm adding a "SightMark LoPro Mini Laser/Light Combo" under the barrel where the M-Lok is (I got a Picatinny adapter). I know it's kind of a bulky laser/light combo, but I thought maybe I could use it as an under-barrel hand grip; instead of your barrel-shroud upper grip. Anyways, it's just $150, so if it is too heavy, or just doesn't feel ergonomic at all, then I'll use your grip. I don't own any firearms, so the CP33 will be my first, & I'm going all out, balls to the wall, buy once cry once (because I've been researching this for 1 year & 5 months, & I'm too deep into it now to stop). Any advice on suppressed ammo is welcome, or ANY advice really. Because other than watching a ridiculous amount of YT videos, I have very little actual hands-on firearm experience. ...Also, what's your opinion of mounting the "Vortex Razor AMG UH-1 Gen II Holographic Sight" on it, yeah that big boy; is that just dumb of me to get (I want a humongous sight picture).
@@ericbergfield6451 I’ve not seen good things from Sightmark. for $150, I’d recommend a streamlight tlr1 HL. The vortex is fine. Heavy. Will do what you want it to. I’d recommend standard velocity 40gr ammo for suppressed loads. They are just barely subsonic through this gun. Best all around for balance of quiet/Penetration/cost/precision.
@@demonstratedconceptsllc4918 Well, I bought the wrong height riser mount, I got a co-witness by mistake, as it was just $65 and all the pictures looked the same. Guess I should've read the descriptions better, but hey I learned what coW/1third/1.53/2.26" risers mean now :P Can you recommend a riser this high with Picatinny on top, as I want to use the Vortex Razor AMG UH-1 Gen II, instead of a tiny pistol red dot.
Only problem is this only works if you have a working right eye. Most guns are that way, and it sucks. If there was a way I could do with my CP33 what I did with my Hellion and CX4 and switch ejection, I would only ever run it like you do. I'm jealous of all of you who have two working eyes.
There’s no way I could run a 22 pistol in the traditional sense as fast or precise as I can run this. I could match the precision with a 22 rifle, but not speed. That signals to me that it’s largely shot form factor and technique.
@@demonstratedconceptsllc4918 I was wondering more about the difference with your support hand. I'm sold one the cheek weld for all the things. I just noticed the scorpion on your facebook page, but it still is twice the size of the cp33. Each one of the guns you mentioned has a 3+ inch penalty by not having the mag feed from the grip. I'm imagining a 320 or glock accessory that allows a fixed red dot, and cheek weld protection from the reciprocating slide.
Interesting concept, and, as always, backed up with evidence. Unfortunately I've promised myself I was going to Git Gud with my existing carry gun before I got another one...
Your unconventional methods are cool and make sense. You almost got me convinced to buy a recoil strap for birds head grip guns. I'm going to try to rig my own first. That product shouldnt cost over 20$.
I'd ask you to consider the amount of R&D costs OUTSIDE materials and manufacture. You are buying an American designed and manufactured product, a new technique for shooting that unlocks capability in a class of firearms not seen anywhere else in the industry, the thousands of rounds of live fire conducted to develop technique and product together and to ensure its reliability and viability, and access to continuously updated training material for that product. You are buying more than the widget.
@@demonstratedconceptsllc4918 yeah I consider all that. They are probably sourceing the materials from china too, But when your getting 3$ of product and paying 40 dollars for research and development. I just a matter of time till someone else releases this product for 15$ shipped. I'd be happy to pay 20$ for everything that went into it. To each his own. Great concept. Both wife and I got these jems in feb21’. Love them! You can tear out centers of targets at 15 yards all day long with the OEM irons BUT your set up is awesome! What sling and cord are you using? Link??? Thanks!!!
Sling is in the works. More to come.

I'm convinced
Have you tried this cheek weld hold with an AK platform style pistol? IE. a Draco?
What if i don't know any of those people either?
So what about the Keltec P-50? It looks like that would be good
Could anyone explain to me how to remove the front sight? I removed the screw but it would not come off. Thank you in advance
Remove the screw, pop it off. Likely a drop of loctite has glued it in place.
I'm sold.
Awesome!
Any thoughts on using this technique with Kel-Tec's new P50?
Can’t see why it wouldn’t work.
Bad idea because the P50 shells come out the top of the pistol. Would be extremely painful!
What height is the mount?
Thoughts on a B&T GHM9 Compact?
Works. Pricey and heavy for what it is.
Try it with a telescoping bolt 9 mm?
Using your setup with a suppressor, how bad would the CP33's blow back be in your face?
I've shot this suppressed quite a bit. I find it no worse than a suppressed AR. It's a non-issue for me.
@@ericbergfield6451 that optic isn’t typically used with any riser. It is a big boy. I’m guessing any more than .5” riser would be too much.
Any experienced with left handed shooters using this gun? Specifically a cheek weld.
th-cam.com/video/CxCj-d-LUOg/w-d-xo.html
not seeing that brake anywhere
Only problem is this only works if you have a working right eye. Most guns are that way, and it sucks. If there was a way I could do with my CP33 what I did with my Hellion and CX4 and switch ejection, I would only ever run it like you do. I'm jealous of all of you who have two working eyes.
I have to try this
How much of the shootability is 22 derived vs how you are able to hold the pistol?
There’s no way I could run a 22 pistol in the traditional sense as fast or precise as I can run this. I could match the precision with a 22 rifle, but not speed. That signals to me that it’s largely shot form factor and technique.
What 9mm could you run like this?
@@joeld008 Scorpion, MP5, MCX, AK9, AR9. Keep in mind, I run 12ga shotguns like this...
@@joeld008 Working on it.
If only the mpa mini mac chambered in 57 didnt weigh 8lbs
I’m convinced. I’m gonna buy one.
It does not work for lefted handed does it
That depends on how you feel about hot brass being ejected directly into your mouth...
I wish I could get you out in SC for some classes!
If you have a range to host me, and 8-16 interested folks, we can do that.
@@demonstratedconceptsllc4918 Cool! Do you have some more details on your website?

Total price?
500$ for the gun in 2021, and at least 120$ on a budget red dot. Id recomened a hollosun or sig.
could this be done in 5.7?
B&T won't be pleased...you've made the USW obsolete already!
A stockless USW with a 1.93 height front mount optic would be excellent.
prettty cool.
Interesting concept, and, as always, backed up with evidence. Unfortunately I've promised myself I was going to Git Gud with my existing carry gun before I got another one...
My dad always told me that a promise is a lie you tell to your wife. Get the gun.
Just get. Brace. Done.
Try it wit a burris RT3
great content. So much gun dreck out there. Subscribe people!
Thanks!
And i very well may end up buying it at full price if i can't make it, cause I do want one.
I'm seeing the arguments about the recoil strap it is so innovative it is worth whatever I have to pay for it
Your optic placement is super newb,
