This really saved me. I had a leak in the same kind of Delta Monitor series 1700. I watched your whole video through once. Then I had it on step by step, watching what you did, then doing that. So reassuring to know what was coming next and how to deal with it. It was actually quite simple, except the retention ring was stuck and it was a perceptual-motor nightmare getting little the seats back in. But I got it done and what a thrill when I turned the water on and no leaking. I had been dreading digging into it for over a month since the cartridge arrived. Thanks to all you guys for posting DIY videos. The last time we had a plumber out to change a $10 valve in the toilet he charged over $300. Your video gave me the courage to do it my self, and I saved a bundle. Thanks. Very cool to have access to the knowledge base of the whole world!
Thank you for taking the time to comment. It’s always very gratifying to hear that one of my videos helped someone successfully complete another dreaded (and often feared) DIY. And the excitement in your tone isn’t lost on me either lol. Well done! ✊🏻
Great video thanks. I have a question one of the inside parts of the handle is broken and it is very old model. Can I replace for any other Delta faucet series 17??
@@papajoeknows8355 I already have a very nice conversation with Delta customer service and in resume what they say if was installed from 2006 onwards I can replace with any delta series 13/14 or 17 without replacing shower valve body.
@@papajoeknows8355 thanks for the tip! I ended up soaking it in a white vinegar soaked rag due to all of the mineral buildup, and I was eventually able to loosen it after sometime using a pipe wrench. It was very, very stuck on there.
You need to pull it out and reinstall it… it’s VERY easy for it to turn slightly as you’re putting it in (you can see me fighting with it in the video). The notches must line up with the tabs on the cartridge.
Just follow along with the video, and there will come a point where you will see the 2 screws that hold the face plate on… just unscrew them, and it comes right off.
If this is a new problem, it’s got to be either the cartridge or the install (it may be slightly ajar in there). I would reinstall, and if it’s still the same, you may have gotten a bad cartridge.
My Friend. What is Delta Faucet model number you have? I have exact model like what you have but the little temperature handle to snap on is broken. Also it make whistle noise too. Thanks
@@tinhtang683do8 I found it! It’s the Delta Vessona T17 series in Venetian Bronze… here’s a link to the part you’re looking for: www.deltafaucet.com/parts/product/RP48689RB.html
@@papajoeknows8355 One more question. maybe better to replace whole kit instead just the handle since it is over 15 years old. Do you happen to have whole kit part number for the trim, Catridge and handle too. Thanks a lot. You have nice days.

Honestly, I’d be partially guessing. I think it’s best to call Delta customer service. They’re very helpful. 800-345-DELTA (3358)

Do you have a model number of this delta faucet?
@@robertgraham4359 sorry, no. Maybe do a Google image search.
Very nicely done !! Thank you for posting now it gives me enough bravado to attempt on my own. Greatly appreciate your time. Nice Ink !! Thank you.
My cartridge does not have a ring screw ....wonder why
If I’m understanding you right, the part is called a bonnet nut… you should be able to find the correct one for your faucet online.
@Papa Joe knows
Found it thanks so much and learned new term Bonnet nut....who knew
@@wolfsden3812 you bet, now you can impress people at parties with your bonnet nut lingo. ☝🏻
@Papa Joe knows ahhhhh good one....thanks for your video hopefully it stops the drip
when i remodeled the bathroom i had the plumber install left an right ole fashionn handles. looks simpler to replace the cartridge. my spigot drips.
You mean you had plumber put in old fashioned spigots?
It really sucks that my ring is frozen in so bad that I can’t move it and my hands are killing me. Yours just unscrewed by hand so easily 😭
Try warming it with a propane torch.

@ glad to hear it all worked out. 👏🏻
I did the same thing you did but no water is coming out... did you know why?
You need to pull it out and reinstall it… it’s VERY easy for it to turn slightly as you’re putting it in (you can see me fighting with it in the video). The notches must line up with the tabs on the cartridge.
How do you get the faceplate off

Very helpful. Do you know what part number for the cartridge?
I put a link for it in the description. 👍🏻
Same faucet I did replace the cartridge, got rid of the drip but I have very low pressure? Did I miss something?
