    Inventor of Red Disc Seal. Bathtub spout rear seal that has proven to keep water from getting pass the tub spout pipe. Therefore, preventing water damage behind the finished wall. For more detail and to purchase visit www.RedDiscSeal.com
    The video shows how to repair Delta's shower/tub valve cartridge assembly and how to adjust water temperature. If the shower head or tub spout leaks, most likely, replacing the seats and springs will stop the leak. When replacing these components, it is always a good idea to use silicone or waterproof grease to extend the life of the seals and create a better bond between the seals and the rest of the valve.

    Thank you so much, this saved me a lot of money on a new cartridge! My “professional” plumber said my new delta faucet had a bad cartridge! Brand new faucet! I took the tub faucet down myself, used silicone plumbers grease and used it on all the O rings and bonnet and Wahla! No more leak! Not one drop!! They wanted to charge me more money to come out and fix. Thanks again!

      Really ? A plumber tried to charge you for a new one? That's unbelievable. They usually charge an amount that's exactly proportionate to the services rendered. They work so hard for the minimal amount they charge. I usually tip extra because they are making minimum wage on a good day. We all need to support our hard working, honest plumbers.

      The only place the water could come from is the valve. If the cartridge has been replaced and there is still a leak, at times, this is due to the age of the valve body, hard water deposit inside the valve. Hope this helps.

      If the hot water throughout the rest of the house is hotter and you have waited long enough for the water to get hot at the shower and the adjustment at the cartridge is set to the hottest, it could be a defective cartridge.

    • @JustForYouDiy
      @JustForYouDiy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to hear that replacing seats and springs did not fix the leak. You may want to try one more thing before replacing the cartridge. There may be some hard water deposit inside the valve body keeping the seats from sealing, where the springs and seats go. If so, you can soak a piece of cloth with CLR (wear gloves and follow the CLR’s handling instructions) and shove it into the valve body and let it sit in there to dissolve the hard water deposits. I’ve seen that work before. Hopefully it will work for you too.

    I have changed the seat and the spring and the leak did not stop. Any advise?

    • @JustForYouDiy
      @JustForYouDiy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lucho, if the seats and springs are good, couple of other things could cause the drip. If the valve has a tension adjustment, a ring that’s part of the retaining nut, then, the tension could be too loose. The other possible cause could be hard water buildup inside the valve where seats and springs go. To get rid of that, I’ve used CLR. I’ve put CLR in a spray bottle and spray the inside of the valve. Then after 2-3 minutes, I spray water to remove all CLR. If you decide to use CLR, please follow the mfg’s use instructions. Hope this helps.

      Of course, ease of removal is dependent on how long the cartridge has been in there, the condition of water, etc.

    Nice video. I was trying to get the cartridge out and it wont come out. I just twisted the upper part and replaced the springs and put that part back again. Saved me some years. Sooner or later i will have to call plumber to get that whole thing out when it start giving trouble again.

    $89 for a cartridge in 2022. Total Delta Rip Off. Horrible design. Unreliable. Total Rip Off.

    Thank you, I got the seat and spring kit at Home Depot for $6 …I bought 2 and changed out both of my showers in less than an hour …they wanted $69 for the cartridge some cartridges were $80+ I had a feeling that there would be likely no need to replace the cartridge… I was sure someone would be able to specify the actual part that are Predominantly getting worn out… last time I replaced the cartridge because I had no awareness of the seat and spring kit… you saved me about $120 …I did have to search through a lot of videos to find this excellent video… but it was worth it… I would like to add that there is another part that I ran into that was very troublesome and I was never able to find an answer on TH-cam… and that is getting off a stubborn cartridge nut or ring… all the answers TH-cam provided were horrible… channel locks wouldn’t do it …no chemicals would loosen it …what I came up with that got it off instantly and with pretty much no effort was a belt wrench… the more you turn the tighter it gets so you don’t get the slipping and shredding that happens with channel lock… barely turned it and it came off without any damage to the ring… it was magic 🪄
