Thank you for this! All of the other videos I've seen on You Tube showing how to fix a Delta shower faucet had faucets that had the Allen screw on the outside of the fixture! I couldn't figure how to get the handle off of mine until I saw this one!
I have a T14 series (Delta T14178, burnished bronze). I'm glad the whole process was shown here as I ran into the same issues with calcified piece-parts. First, once the handle and the allan nut inside where removed I tried prying the handle cover off. In hindsight that put too much twisting force on the part making it even more stuck. Like the video, I removed the cover by firm pressure directly off the part with some rocking. Also, the inner collar wouldn't budge with channel locks. I used a pipe wrench thinking the extra leverage would help but in the end it was more finesse. I reset the wrench around the circle of the collar and found that the collar loosened almost effortlessly in certain positions. It took a bit of fidgeting but it came off eventually. Thanks for showing the whole process! It confirmed I wasn't missing a hidden screw or something!
FINALLY!!! Someone who showed what it is REALLY like to change the cartridge. None of the “loosen this nut” and then not show how it was done. Thank you!!!😊
Great video! Thanks for showing every obstacle & how you overcame it! Especially about unscrewing the handle to access the set screw! Ive been searching videos cuz i coulndnt find it on my delta either. And taking the video at the home depot! I'll take my old cartridge to see if i can get the new one free. Also, I've seen that a rubber strap wrench should be used to remove the ring, rather than the wrench could damage it. Nice to see you on the video too!!
Just changed mine. Hardest part was getting both pieces of the handle off. West Texas hard water would have made this job impossible without PB Blaster. I had to use it and let it sit every step of the way, was still a chore and took me 2 hours. I hate plumbing but it saves me hundreds so it's a necessary evil.
@@charleskirkham4992 Had to just use some nasty stuff (PB Blaster) that you don't want to really be breathing without ventilation and just slowly rocking it back and forth. Took a while :(
@@lorigonzales4591 You may need to use something that will lubricate and break up the hard water deposits in there. Just be careful not to damage the pipes or the harnesses in the wall with all the tugging and twisting.

Wet fine sandpaper gets build up off nicely. Also, PLEASE ALWAYS use plumbers/silicone grease/lube for the o-rings.

Use faucet grease. Don't us WD or any other lubricant that could break down the O-rings.

Well my cartridge didn’t come out the way yours did, I took it in a broken piece
By chance have the part number and two I try to put it back on and the handle doesn’t stay on
