    This is a great idea Aaron! I'll have to try this for my next church live stream. Thanks for showing us what is possible. I welcome any more ideas you may have.

    Amazing video .. thanks. Do you have a video on Atem Studio 4K by chance? I am interested in whether it can record an EDL from live broadcast for editing later in post.

    I've been wanting something like this for so long and didn't realize there were keyframe buttons haha

    This is great! Does anyone know if this possible on an ATEM 2 M/E production studio 4k?

    Thanks for the video. As far as I understand it this replaces(!) the PIP functionality of the ATEM mini? E.g. when I complete all the steps you mentioned the section labeled "Picture in Picture" on my ATEM mini will not actually show a PIP but zoom in the selected camera source? Is there a way to have both as I find the PIP functionality very convenient. To the right of the PIP block there are "ON/OFF" buttons labeled "key". Guessing this is the DSK? Can I use it for the same purpose?

      You are correct, this effectively replaces the PiP function.
      The PiP button in the ATEM Mini is actually more like a preset for the Upstream Key (USK). There is only 1 USK in the ATEM Mini (the ATEM Mini Extreme has 4), so you can only do 1 thing with the USK at a time.
      That said, you can definitely automate changing the USK between using it for PiP and for this effect using macros. Take a look at my other videos on macros for some tips, but basically you would create a macro to change all the settings to turn the USK into PiP and change them back for the zoom effect. If you do that, you'd want to turn the USK off before changing the settings otherwise you'll get some weird blinking effects while the changes happen.
      The DSK (Downstream Key) is similar to the USK but can't do all the same things. In particular, the DSK can't scale any video sources, it can only make parts of a video transparent.

      @@aaronpk thank you for the detailed answer. I have already watched quite a few of your macro vids etc.
      As far as I understand I can manage most with Streamdeck but might need the companion app to talk to OBS and the ATEM, right?

    I hope you can help me. Im using an ATEM Television Studio Pro HD and when i try to adjust the size it won't let me go greater than 1. The arrow is greyed out and if I manually type in 1.1 or greater it resets to 1.0. I can go smaller no problem and see my picture in picture effect. Great video btw. Very clear instructions on how to do this. ** JUST READ below someone else had the same question. I wonder if I can upgrade this things firmware?

    • @aaronpk

      That model doesn't allow scaling larger than 100%, this was a unique feature of the ATEM Mini line

      @@aaronpk is there another workaround you can think of. Maybe with the use of a stream deck?

    ⚠️ How can I resize different camera sources to fit on Atem mini Pro?
    I'm beginning to use my atem mini pro, but unfortunately I don't have some pure 1920 x 1080 cameras. I use common Canon 5D Mark 2, and T5i with Magic Lantern software. I get a clean HDMI output from them, but the sizes of the images are a little odd. The images get framed, inside a box. When I used OBS, I usually could fit the image to a 16:9 aspect ratio and 1080p as output. But I don't know how to resize the image, zoom the source, and cut on the sides on atem mini software, in order to fit on each camera holder correctly. So, if I broadcast, I will have a complete mess, images from different sizes. Can could you help me on how to resize the images to fit exactly on the sources ? Thank you so much.

      There isn't really a way to do this in the ATEM. It expects a 1920x1080 signal from the cameras. Magic Lantern is cool but ultimately it's a hack, and I'd look in to getting cameras with a proper clean HDMI out in the first place. Most new cameras do this now.

    Hi Aaron - I am using an ATEM Television Studio HD and can do the PIP with less than 1 on the scaling but can't do greater than 1 for the zoom effect. Is this a hardware limitation of my ATEM Television Studio HD or am I missing something. Thanks

    • @aaronpk
      @aaronpk  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately yes I believe this is a hardware limitation with that model. It was added in a firmware update in the ATEM Mini series and is also available in the Constellation HD series. I'm not sure about the other new ATEMs but I believe it is there.

    Hi Aaron, how would this work in a post production workflow. Say I do this live during a stream then take my davinci file and replace footage with 4k from internal recordings.. Q: How will this effect act within resolve after i've replaced original proxy footage with 4k from in cam recording? Would the ATEM even record this macro into the davinci timeline file?

    • @aaronpk
      @aaronpk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great question, I would need to double check if these actions are recorded in the Resolve file. Last time I checked, there wasn't much in the Resolve file other than switching camera angles unfortunately.
