Mind blown! Just got my first ever video switcher last week. It is an ATEM Mini Extreme ISO, so I have a lot to learn. Thank you for your great channel.
Thanks for that video! I‘ve used Big Blue Button for university teaching in the last three terms and simply sent the video, but at times smaller text (which I try to avoid anyway) was hard to read for the students. I‘ll try your way in the next term - since I‘m lazy too: I will need to record somewhere between four and eight hours per week.
Aaron, do you have a video on how to do a hybrid in-person,/zoom meeting where the presenter has her slides on her computer and they are being being shown to live audience via projector and projector screen?
Great video. If I understand his correctly you can output super source to your main view and do a screen share in zoom for people to see you and the presentation. I do this for a lot of internal meetings and would pin myself through zoom so I can present. Is that correct? I am not recording for quality.
Great tutorial. 1 Question: 1 go with my Mikrofone in the atem mini extreme and in Zoom I choose Micro: Blackmagic design. I can see in my Atem-Software, that sound comes into the Atem. BUT: Zoom does not share the sound. What can I do? Thank you!
Ahhh. Just bought the ATEM Mini Extreme... never thought I would have a need for ISO. This whole setting basically works as well with a second person in an interview, when I manage to get them into my ATEM via a bridge. Right?
Dear Aaron, what do you think to create a "contest" to show the photos made by your followers of the new PK1 PRO MKII stand when will be available ? you can create a live event and show the photos that you receive from us ? have a nice day
Aaron as always you have THE BEST ideas! This is a really AMAZING tutorial If you allow me 1 question please. When you make your zoom meeting, i understand that you use the normal screen sharing function. Should i understand that the viewers can't see my supersource? just the big slides of the keynote and my tiny image? Thanks in advance and THANK YOU for all the SUPER VALUE CONTENT you always share Have a Productive and Healthy Day!
"Problem" is, as Atems are UVC sources, they're shared as camera. When doing presentations, you usually want to share screen as the content shown to attendees, not camera in full screen mode. A lot of collab sw can't do this properly and some of them have limited options for it. For example Teams are still 480p in terms of camera. Sharing a screen is much more fiddly. But this use chase that you presented is super helpful when you want to record the presentation, no argue there.
Very cool! Question: I see the benefits for a one way webinar style presentation, but for a two way zoom meeting with other presenters/speakers, there’s really no way to get the others’ audio and video in an improved uncompressed state, correct? I hope that makes sense.
Aaron: Great job!. Forgive my ignorance ... in the use case we have, we need the USB C to connect to a PC to use Zoom/Teams screen sharing feature, but we also need to record the sessions. Having 2 x USB C ports, shall I assume we can do both?
Hi Aaron, great video. I have question, is there a way to show supersonic in zoom as screen share? I was trying to find, but it seems that it is not possible..
Thanks, amazing tutorial. I've bought just the Pro ISO. Only 1 usbC port, but I'd need 2 wouldn't I, one to connect to my iMac for Zoom, and another to record the sessions. Am I correct? Thanks again, love the content.
Yep that's the big limit with the 4-input mini series. The only other option is to give up the multiview and use the HDMI output for recording in another HDMI recorder or into another USB capture card.
This is brilliant Aaron, thank you. My only question is how you manage the audio.? How do you talk during the meeting while listening to the meeting? For example, if you use the camera microphone, you'll get echo/feedback from the speakers you're listening to the meeting on.
So this is only set up to record myself giving presentations, not record the other participants in the Zoom. What I do is use my external camera mic for the recording and set Zoom's audio input to the ATEM, but Zoom's output is set to my AirPods so that I can hear everyone on the call. It works because the audio from the participants isn't ever sent into the ATEM. I'm planning on doing a different tutorial for when you want to also record the other people in the Zoom meeting in case you want to do that.
@@aaronpk "I'm planning on doing a different tutorial for when you want to also record the other people in the Zoom meeting" -I've only just discovered your great channel!. I'd be really interested in such a video, just wondering if you've made that yet?
Great Video Aaron. Question - while I can get audio from my camera (mic is plugged directly into camera, camera is plugged into "camera 1"), I'm struggling to get audio from my computer onto the ssd. The computer is plugged into "camera 2." Am I missing something? Actually I'm having a few audio issues, particularly that the headphones sound distorted when plugged into Atem Mini Extreme headphone jack. Any suggestions?
Excellently done and most informative, thank you Aaron. We do Zoom live streams, which are later edited for posting and archiving purposes. In our case my responsibility is to record the Presentation of a remote guest who may be using a PPTx with or without embedded video or sound tracks. Do you have a methodology that addresses this scenario or one similar, that you may have made previously (that I have not found) or is the solution "simple" enough to respond here? Thank you and continuing success moving forward, FLARC/W2nz
Tip for those like me that don't have the ISO model. I have a cheap capture card (Amazon $10 special) that I have connected to an HDMI out on the Atem and into my laptop. I set the HDMI out on the Atem to be my camera only (Input 1) and in Zoom i set my camera to this capture card (not Blackmagic Design). Then, in the Atem I have the Program out set to Super Source and this is what is recorded locally on the Atem when recording to SSD. i.e a single recording ready for publishing. No need for the ISO OR the loopback to another input.
@@RayFranklin Zoom quality is fine too - the capture card is pulling in my Atem HDMI output (set to output my Sony A5100) at 1080p, so just dependent on the zoom meeting settings. In my case I'm on a corporate plan that supports HD, so my video on zoom is typically in 720p or 1080p depending, it seems, on what Zoom feel like that day!
Hey @aaron, thank you for the video... Did you ever experience green screen while trying to connect the hdmi out 2 to inout 8.. I keep on getting a green screen, not sure why. I setup output 2 to the supersource
I have atem mini and i use Ecamm live. Can you help me please? I would use in my live Webinar only atem mini. But the Problem: i use very often my Ipad Pro for writing etc. if i change for example to my Ipad the resources is terrible. I solve this with Ecamm Live. I share a Desktop. Can i use similar solve? Have you got an Idea?
This relies on using the HDMI out of the ATEM, as well as the SuperSource feature of the Extreme. If you use the Pro model, you wouldn't be able to use the multiview since your one HDMI output would be taken up with this trick, and you'd have to do a Picture in Picture instead of side by side layout.
Very good Präsentation, thank you. I am struggling with the atem Mini & Zoom re. Screen Sharing. If I switch sources, only my Participant/ speaker pic changes, but I did not find a way to bring e.g. source 2 or 3 into the screen sharing functionality. Zoom only offers the integrated sharing functionality and does Not Show the Atem channels as options. Do you have an idea how to set up / fix? This would be great- thx a lot & best regards
So let me get this straight If 'I use the extreme ISO and have a nice custom Supersource and do a talk show in zoom the users will not see my feed with remote callers the same as the nice 4 block callers i saw on your demos?
Sort of. You don't get control over what resolution the viewers on Zoom see. For video feeds of a single face, it's not a problem at all. But if you're trying to share slides with text, a low resolution might make the text unreadable. With a supersource layout of a few people on the screen, it will probably look fine, since the faces will still be big enough on the screen. Really what I am talking about here is the super small details like text on slides or screen sharing.
Is there a more affordable way to do this? I have no need for more than 2 cameras (mainly just using one) plus a screen share/presentation. I like to record screencasts, and also present decks professionally over zoom/google meet… all via a single Mac Mini M1. Extreme ISO has the functionality as described, but it's crazy money! And I imagine much of that cost is in the 5 or so channels I'll never use.
You can do it all in software with virtual cameras from some apps like OBS and eCamm. I'd probably go that route if you're trying to save money. The downside is it will be a bit more fragile since it will be entirely software based streaming.
Great explanation! Is it possible to record the Zoom session with other participants' video and audio I to ATEM? Will that create a loop and echo? My thinking is use another laptop to log into Zoom and feed that screen into ATEM and record through ISO.
Great question. I was going to ask the same… I really want to record the other participants too, when they speak or with the gallery view for example, but I’d like to control / edit who’s on screen (me / active speaker / gallery), at least in an edit. 2nd laptop seems like a great solution - though what about second laptop / iPad for the keynote too?? I currently have Atem mini pro ISO and bring in my slides via the IPad. Partly as when I’m managing the zoom and doing other things in my computer, it’s a struggle to get they Keynote back into the active window to progress slides. Thanks jlmoped and Aaron for this!
@@aaronpk Thanks. I should have refined my question. Around minute 2:30 you stated "If you set the ATEM Mini to the SuperSource layout, then what people see in Zoom is your video like a tiny version of your slides and video". What I would like to know is if there is a way for Zoom to show the SuperSource so what the viewers see is the same as the final recording of the Supersource.
I think you can do this by setting it all up as Aaron shows but create a PNG graphic for the Art in the media player. Make sure that there are transparent alpha holes in the graphic - one big rectangle and a smaller circle. And use this as an Art foreground in the supersource rather than background. Your art will be on top and you'll see your picture and screenshare in though the gaps in the graphic.
