All those YT personas are so lucky, they get their ATEM minis pro and they work. I got mine and it was bricked. Went to RMA, they said it's broken (but their got different defect than I got) and are going to replace it ... in the future. Nice video!
The Ethernet port has likely been turned upside down for ergonomics - with the retainer clip facing upwards it's easier to remove the plug by pushing, instead of having to slide your finger underneath.
Hey Aaron, I'm really impressed with your content, and the "behind the scenes" look is really timely for me. I'm wanting to set up a home studio to create an on-line classroom (I'm a university professor and it looks like we'll be doing a lot of on-line teaching in the future). Would it be possible for you to develop a diagram (hand-drawn?) that simply shows all of your equipment and how it is connected together? I sort-of get it from your video, but a diagram would REALLY be useful!
Super helpful, Aaron. Also - do the kit setup at the end - ALWAYS useful info. My Mini Pro just arrived - pumped. Wait....WHICH monitor specifically didn't work with Multiview out?
Aaron - have you experimented or know a workaround that would let someone use their USB-C monitor as the multiview monitor versus an Atomos or TV? Is it as simple as using an adaptor? I'm curious if you've seen such a configuration? To be specific, I have a LG 21.5" HD 4K Ultra Fine LED Monitor Black for Mac Only. The ports on the back are for USB-C (female), so I'm curious if an HDMI OUT (HDMI to USB-C) is possible with this monitor so I can free up my Atomos for my camera as an external recorder for the main angle.
Thanks Aaron! Started following you when I discovered the atem mini and wanted to know more. Just got mine in the mail, and I’ve learned a lot from your content. Hoping to offer hq live services to clients soon! Thanks!
Hi Aaron, the ethernet port should have its contacts as shown in the original atem mini. The purpose of this is to reduce unnecessary dust build up on the contacts of the port. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Hy Aaron I am trying to connect a rode VideoMic NTG to the ATEM MINI PRO and it is nit working Setop: mic, SC10 extension, SC3 Adapter... and there is only strange noise... Do you know why? what can i do? Tanx!
Hi Aaron! Great tutorial and presentation as well! I see USBc on ATEM is an output. But, let's assume I connect ATEM Mini PRO to my PC via USBc (to USBa of the PC). In this case, can I get video+audio of my PC to use as an external source? For example, I intend to play some recorded videos stored on my PC through ATEM. I really appreciate any help you can provide. Dimitris K.
You can connect an HDMI output from your computer back in to the ATEM Mini. Your computer will see it as a second display, and you can mirror or extend your desktop to it like any other monitor!
I wish both had a 1/4-20 socket or two somewhere for mounting with a mini arm, That and programmable audio delay for the audio inputs. ATEM mini has a fan too - it goes on full blast while updating firmware. I love my Sony RX0 also, great overhead camera!
Well I finally bought one right before this video sorry I missed the affiliate link. You add some real working detail that I don't get from others. 30W is still really good for me because I'm replacing a 90W Intel NUC with an external battery power source. It seems that some people have a problem with the UVC (usb video) output regarding color settings and range compared to the HDMI out. I suspect that the UVC is full range and the HDMI is legal range, but would love to see what you figure out.
Thanks Aaron for another great video. I would love to see a video about the hyperdeck integration. I live in Sweden and I use the mini pro to stream the services at my church and I would like to run an intro and an outro with recorded information as a start and an end of each streaming session. But the HyperDeck is a big investment. I also had problems with several monitors that didn't work with multiview. And I can't figure out why.
Aaron. this overview was great and I really liked the BTS wrap up. I'm expecting delivery of the Pro any moment. Let a kid in a candy store, I can hardly wait.
Fantastic background tour Thanks Aaron well done - I have just received my ATEM mini to use with Zoom Question 1: Can it by used with Pro directly? it is application depended, but maybe there is a work around. Question 2: Is there a workaround to use your Mac as a player true USB3, other then use af fullscreen player in 2'nd monitor with HDMI Regards
You have made the greatest videos of the Atem Mini and Atem Mini Pro. Challenging question: How would you go about doing instant replays for sports livestreams?
Thanks! That's definitely a tricky one. The Hyperdeck Studio Mini is probably your best bet, since it can be triggered via macros in the ATEM Mini. I'm not super familiar with that kind of workflow though so I'm not totally sure how it would work. But basically any solution will have to get a copy of the program feed, capture it externally, and then be fed back in as one of the inputs on the ATEM Mini.
@@aaronpk it is super tricky. I thought about having a 6 second delay in the stream so I can know when to hit record on an external device but the tricky part is having a playlist recap at the end of the event replaying every highlighted clip sequentially. Reply is still an area that is complicated for streamers.
I'm in need of a video production setup for a performing arts center. In this age of COVID, live recording music groups on our stage with our professional lighting, Midas 32 channel audio system, and no audience, I do not have a video switcher. I am a former television producer for local stations. But, that was back in the '80's!. A friend recommended the ATEM mini Pro...and your concise review has me looking very hard at this being the missing piece we need. Would this interface with remote controlled cameras and the output from a 32 channel audio mixer? Actually, using more like 12 channels for instruments and vocals.
Aaron Thanks for your wonderful videos. I learnt a lot. For Mini pro, i wish they had 2 separate HDMI out. 1 for multiview and 1 for program out. I need one output to go to projector in the venue. If you have connection with Blackmagic, can you please tell them to do this :). or atlest they can do a FW upgrade where we can assign one of the input port as pgm out or Multiview. Unfortunately that is one thing holding me off to buy this device. Ofcourse i bought the regular Mini, and now this one came out.
I noticed with all the new updates to the 4k pocket and the ATEM MINI PRO when 4k pocket is connected to the mini pro via HDMI i loose the prores recording option in the 4k pocket confused why lol ...
Aaron, great video. Very helpful. Are you streaming and using the Atem software interface over the same network connection while recording on the USB port? Your laptop is connected via Cat5 through a switch? Thanks!
Hey Aaron this video is great!! I just have a question: When I try to add Restream to the atem mini pro an I am editing the xml file I follow your instructions but when I launch the atem software control the Restream do not show on my options to stream, I don't know why doesn't work do you have a solutions for this?
Hello Aaron, first of all thank you for your great job! I have 2 questions : the first one is about recording, I would like to know if there is a way to get a second back up via ethernet on a PC/MAC (with media express or another software)when you are not streaming and when you are? And my second question is about videoprojection, if I need to do a multicam event (with strem) + a computer with slideshow for a videoprojection at the same time ...what is the best solution to output the slideshow from the computer to the projector and the atem mini pro a the same time? (via a hdmi switcher with 2 output just before entering the atem or do you have another solution...?) Sorry for my english and thank you again for your excellent work!
If I want to use the atem mini pro's encoder to stream live, can I use OBS as one of the hdmi inputs? Do I used record or what not in OBS to start sending data to the pro? My mini pro is still on order so I am still trying to work all this out mentally. Yes my laptop is underpowered.
Love the video. Yes. Why did they not put in a headphone jack? As I've been playing with the atem mini over this last week, I can say if the atem mini pro had a headphone jack, I would have brought it just for that.
Aaron concerning that external monitor and why it may not be working I recall trying several different HDMI cables on my mini Pro and eventually got one that worked so it could be a cable
Great tutorials Aaron, as a complete newbie, I am struggling with a lot of this. Have you a step by step guide on setting up?. I am using this for broadcasting and need to get picture in picture and overlays. I have a second monitor plugged into the ATEM, but I am unable to drag in photos/logo to the media player. Your help would be appreciated.
Thans Aaron! Perhaps you have a unique Mini Pro with the Ethernet Port up side down (accordeons to the pictures on BMD site). You daisy chain HDMI Out (Program) to a BMD monitor and then to you screen. One of these devices might have a headphone jack which alles you to monitor the audio, correct?
Yeah! That's probably the best way to monitor the audio from the ATEM Mini. Especially with multi-view, realistically most people are going to be using it with a monitor now anyway so it's not that bad. You can even use a cheap monitor if you don't need all the features of an external HDMI recorder or fancy monitoring tools.
Great Video! I would be very interested in a "Skype" Setup. I am not talking about using the Atem Mini Pro using USB-C as a Webcam in Skype, I am more talking about getting an Interview-Partner into the Stream using a PC/MAC with Skype in Fullscreen. I guess, the Audio Setup does require some sort of external Audio Interface to avoid echo etc.? Cheers
how could you do on ATEM Mini Pro to display all time logo and lower 3rd at the same time? it has only one DSK although the manual says there are two DSK using the software control? further, how could you achieve split-screen for guests noting that they have a sample for 2 and 4 screens in their graphic folder? Another issue as well is how to do the animation which is set in their graphic folder too, while the media does not load other than still images!
hi thanks for a video but I have a question. Why the item mini pro dose not see the signal from the computer which is led through cdmi spliter in secondary monitor set up
Try setting your external display to specifically 1920x1080. The ATEM Mini can't scale down 4K so if your external monitor is large that could be the problem
Is it possible to send multiview over the USB C webcam connection? In my use case I would love to continue sending program output to my external HDMI recorder AND be able to take advantage of multi-view from my computer. If not officially supported in the UI, any way to perhaps hack it via the XML file, as best you can tell?
Hey Aaron, thanks for this content! Super helpfull! One question: I have a BM video assist (5inch) can you set this up to ‘auto start’ with the mini pro?
For now, only the Blackmagic 4K and 6K cameras can be triggered from the ATEM Mini. Seems like it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for them to launch a firmware update to add this to the Video Assist though!
Can the Mini Pro add an audio delay to the 3.5mm mic inputs, so that I can feed a mic straith in there, otherwise it needs to route through a camera (like you had) or feed via a Zoom F6 or Sound Devices MixPre (or similar) that can add a delay.
So for field use to stream, do you still need a laptop to load the XML file with the stream settings, or does the Mini remember the last used even after power off?
RemekTek Media the ATEM Mini rememberers the last settings (like all other ATEMs). I have used mine but just plugging in Mini Pro, HDMI in, Ethernet, and presenting On Air. Works fine, not screen or laptop required, as long as you know the settings are correct, or you are desperate to start a live show.
Remek Tek, for Atem mini, it will remember last used setup but it will not load all the media pool just powering up. you need to load the XML to bring all in. But as far a buttons, sound and key settings it will remember. I susually do "set as startup" to set all those. then you can save all other info in xml file to bring in everything.
With the multiview feature, you're almost guaranteed to be running this into a monitor now, so you can just use the headphone jack on the monitor to hear the audio!
Aaron Parecki Agree. I just thought would the additional hardware features (at twice the price) an audio out would have been a nice add, especially since customers had mentioned at the the release of the Mini ATEM. Perhaps the Mini Pro 2...🙂
Yeah, hyperdeck high is 70Mb/s so you'd need something that can sustain that upload, so 140Mb/s to be safe.
4 ปีที่แล้ว
My upload is 15 mbps, so i guess i will have to stick to 9 mbps. Actually i just went to check email before sleep and I see they have sent me my unit! But still wondering if this is not an overkill for my live streaming (now i got 1st atem mini). I would want to fully utilize my micro studio cameras, which im not sure are because of mjpg. Would mjpg vs ethernet with internal encoder do a significant difference in the quality of my streaming? Also with ethernet streaming i would have to load lower thirds with my hyperdeck right? Wondering if its harder to learn than just using overlays by soft like Ecamm.
Would be great if it supported 4k for live recording. Otherwise its really limited to utube, and facebook applications, which dosnt exactly qualify it as "pro"
There's nothing built in that will do it, but you can connect an external recorder and feed it back in as one of the inputs. It'd be fiddly, but it will work. If you use the Hyperdeck Studio Mini then the ATEM Mini can be programmed to trigger recording and playback on it via macros.
Most likely what you're seeing is Zoom compressing the presentation video to an unusable point. Before March, I was regularly sharing slides via Zoom video and it was fine, but once they started downscaling and compressing the video feeds to save bandwidth I had to stop that method.
@@aaronpk Thanks Aaron for this information. At least I know it's not my settings mistake. I purchased Mini for this use and was disappointed it didn't work in the desired way. Thank you for making all tutorials and providing helpful information! It's a fun hardware, though less useful for my work scenario.
Thanks for the video Aaron. Great video but like most people from your part of the world you talk too fast for my 80 year old brain to absorb all that stuff. Your sound is great but at 75% speed it takes away some of that quality. You have a new subscriber. I want to see all your videos. Have a great day and keep safe.
Any of the retailers that have a "coming soon" message will work. You'll get in their queue and they'll send them out when they get them. You can also call around and ask how long each place's line is
I really appreciate how hard you have worked to meticulously recreate the look of the guy from Honey I Shrunk the Kids

Hi Aaron, at 16:00 you talk about the fan. Is it running all the time ?
It seems to, but it’s really very quiet, I wouldn’t have noticed it unless I was actually listening for it. It really is super quiet.

Can you use an USB hub to plug in a flash drive and also feed your computer?

Hi Aaron! have you tried atem mini pro to broadcast with OBS?
There's no real reason to use the Pro if you're streaming from OBS, you might as well use the cheaper Mini in that case. It works fine though!
That frame-perfect switch (between drives) is probably done through a small buffer. A bit of ram, or whatever.

Irony is defined as so much attention to routing audio sources, yet still no headphone jack.
@@BlaqViper with a dedicated Multiview HDMI and another one for output.
ATEM Mini Pro Max 😁
Aaron Parecki 🤗
How do I use the USB-C output as a programme out so that I can feed it into the big screen for live show. Thx
Use maybe some webcam capture software, e.g. Logitech Capture. Or even streaming software e.g. OSB.
Did they fix the PiP button resetting the size you set in the software when you press it?
no :(
anyone knows if i can record a quicktime rgb + alpha video ?
Great tutorial, just... 3 days late for me! Took a lot longer than this 20min to find out where the XML was hidden on my system.
Summer is coming...I wonder how much a problem the heat will be for people...
They HAVE to do a SOFTWARE update to make it EASIER to add other streaming sites besides the 3 that come with it.
Yeah the current process is not great, but at least it's possible!
Awesome content!
I love it.
So id i would want to record at hyperdeck high I would also need 180 Mps upload speed?
Yeah, hyperdeck high is 70Mb/s so you'd need something that can sustain that upload, so 140Mb/s to be safe.
Is there anyway we can do ‘replay’ on ATEM mini pro? Thanks
There's nothing built in that will do it, but you can connect an external recorder and feed it back in as one of the inputs. It'd be fiddly, but it will work. If you use the Hyperdeck Studio Mini then the ATEM Mini can be programmed to trigger recording and playback on it via macros.
@@aaronpk Thank you so much
I can’t believe the ATEM mini pro does not come out until May 27th ...
It's already out! Just in small quantities. Get your order in so you can get in the queue!
The only complaint i have is that you are not getting enough Thumbs Up and WHY the 7 thumbs-down?
THANKS
OOPS. Did you show your stream-KEY???
Thanks for yet an interesting video!!!
I should have mentioned that in the video, but no, I changed the key as soon as I made the video :-)
Can you push to Zoom?
Pro? But no XLR or Headphones. Add 1 SDI would of helped also.
Webcam output video quality over the usb-c, especially the powerpoint presentation quality over the usb-c, was unacceptable to me for Zoom.
Have a great day and keep safe.
ok....so i know u had to pre order....i assume....but from where!! cause b&h and adorama STILL say they are NOT in!!
Any of the retailers that have a "coming soon" message will work. You'll get in their queue and they'll send them out when they get them. You can also call around and ask how long each place's line is
after 20 minutes it heats up so that you can fry eggs on it
