  • How To Properly Grip Your Mouse Explained (Improve Your Aim)
    Palm Mouse Grip Style
    This is the most relaxing of the grip styles. I recommend this for those who tense up too much when they aim even. The palm grip style is literally that. You have your palm do the work and you move your arm. This I would say is harder on higher sensitivity settings.
    thumb is on the side for more dexterity little/pinky finger resting on the other. Again this is more of an arm so lower sensitivity play. Unsure how one would manage a higher sensitivity with consistency but I have seen it done.
    So let us discuss pros and cons
    Pros: Relaxed grip style where you don’t have to worry about tensing up to make a shot. Better for larger movements.
    Cons: Less precision on higher sensitivities. Lower sensitivity in general can cause shoulder pain.
    Fingertip Mouse Grip Style (My personal favorite)
    They say this is the fastest of the grip styles. I can see that because it requires the most tension. You are essentially touching most with your fingertips only. Hence fingertip grip. Your palm DOES NOT touch the back. Claw and fingertip get confused too much together.
    Pros: Can have master movement because of the higher tension, I believe this has the highest ceiling for success.
    Cons: It is said it is harder to master. I don’t agree with this statement. But talking with friends who palm personally says it's a weird adjustment. Fingertip is not your natural go to style FYI. Because no one naturally grabs a mouse that way. You usually place your hand on the mouse and relax.
    Claw Mouse Grip Style
    Claw grip gets mistakes so much for fingertips. It is like a fingertip but the back of your palm meets the back of the mouse. In my opinion blends both Palm and fingertip. You are essentially getting the best of both worlds.
    Pros: Can be really stable for longer range shots and can be a blend of palming and fingertip
    Cons: It can be hard to do broader strokes in my opinion with the mouse. People do it all the time. But because you are clawing you mentally have to shift in a weird way from fingertip to moving then with your palm. While fingertip you are really gliding around more.
    Quick note about fingertip grip: With a low sens it can really add a ton of unique speed and dexterity, it is what you have been seeing mostly on screen.

    You should make a video about how you have your arm, shoulder and back when gaming. Would help people with bad posture or back issues. Would also be great to see if it's best to rest your arm on the desk or raise it when gaming.

    I naturally fingertip grip my mouse, always have and I've tried different grips but I always go back to what's most comfortable, and it really does make a difference to use something you're familiar with. What I've heard a lot, is whatever position your hand goes to when you grip a mouse normally, without thinking about it, is the grip you should be using.

      I've seen Pros in all different games talk about this all with conflicting theorys. The general idea is experimentation is good however changeing grips wont be a direct imprivment however can b a indirect one

    • @Hybridify
      @Hybridify 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@reaperofinsanity3370 Yeah for sure! It's not something that would necessarily make you a god if you don't have the mouse control or the gamesense to win fights, however experimentation (hard/soft mousepads, light/heavy mice, grips, and whatnot) should be encouraged as learning what's comfortable is super important in building confidence. Plus once you get to a certain point in your skill level, I'd argue that the skill is transferrable across those factors and then it would just come down to what you prefer the most imo

      nah. I hold my mouse in a way that it angles to the right a bit, so I gotta spend some time in aim trainer so my subconcious mind can get a sense of how i wanna grip it. You can't change a grip because you want to, you gotta just go with the flow, and let your mind make teensy little adjustments over time before you competely transition into a different grip.

    I'm very new to kb/m. Only been playing a couple weeks. I've spent a hour a day on aim labs. I'm pretty decent with flicking onto targets, but my tracking is lacking. After watching this, I switched to claw. This is so much more comfortable. I lowered my sensitivity a bit after switching and my tracking went up 6% on the Strafetrack task in aim lab (only 56 percent, but two weeks ago I was at 38 percent). Thanks.

      Question do fingernails affect anything?

    • @HappyBeezerStudios
      @HappyBeezerStudios ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe for very aggressive claw when your fingertips are going basically vertically onto the mouse, but in general it shouldn't matter. So no matter if you have guitar fingernails or just like having them long and fancy, it shouldn't make a difference.

    for me i use a hybrid grip since i was 7 years and i am now 17.
    my grip is composition of these 3 grips fingertip for long range ,claw grip for mid and short range ,and palm for tracking. i was so confused what grip i use but when i recorded a video for my hand while was playing for like 3 hours i discovered that.

    • @HappyBeezerStudios
      @HappyBeezerStudios ปีที่แล้ว

      That is totally fine. palm/claw/fingertip are just general broad categories, but the actual grip is highly dependent on the size and shape of your hand, your mouse, the speed you use. Calling it by one of the big three names can give people a rough idea of what your grip is like, but doesn't perfectly describe what it is.

    Hand size 19 x 10 cm | long time G303 user| fingertip grip
    A lot of fingertip players don't use side buttons because when the thumb clicks on the side buttons, it messes up their aim. Now here comes my grip, the knuckle-fingertip grip. I'm able to use side buttons without negatively affecting my aim, while retaining all the flexibility of pure fingertip grip. My grip is basically fingertip but with my knuckles resting toward the back of the mouse for more stability. When I start controlling recoil, I transition into pure fingertip by lifting my knuckles off the mouse a bit. (My palm never touches the mouse.)

    i use 16.34cm per 360 and mostly play games like cs and val and i agree with ur palm assessment of the palm not having enough dexterity, i do something that resembles the "flex palm" that u mentioned where the palm itself isnt touching the mouse but the palm-side of my knuckles make contact and so while i still have finger control (defs necessary on higher sens's) but my fingers rnt tensed until i activate them so i get reasonably stable aim (considering my sens) and can still snap fast and make adjustments if needed. i found the grip from trying claw, hating it, trying fingertip and thinking it was too inconsistent (coz i already struggle with inconsistency) and thenmoving my palm back so it wasnt on the mouse technically. some days i struggle to find the grip but most of the time its when i didnt sleep enough or didnt eat well the day before.

    I sort of play in between a claw and palm. Just very comfortable me and I and am a wrist player btw, yes I know it’s bad for me. My sens on most games is just enough for me to 360 with a full wrist swipe. I like being able to reach anywhere on the screen. In r6 I’ve been plat 1 and cs dmg

    I used to use fingertip for Apex Legends but it got really painful for my pinky finger. I then switched to palm but then started having another issue where my pinky just does not feel comfortable when touching the mouse, so now I literally use a grip where my pinky does not touch my mouse - has a lot of tension but I guess there isn't any pain...

    I started palm, like most people but over time I've started to use my fingers a lot more. The only thing I've found incredibly frustrating is I can never find my 'default' position.
    Sometimes I can't get comfy so I raise my chair and then I feel like my aim is off, sometimes I lower my chair so again my aim is off.
    I also never really know how much of my arm I should have resting on the desk as it changes, but then I'm very inconsistent. If I have too much of my arm on the desk then I feel like I'm too restricted, then up my sens maybe a little and use my wrist. Sometimes I have none of my arm on the desk and sit a but further away so I have no resistance.
    In my 2 years on PC, I've never been able to find the 'default' posture/position that feels good for me... Always changing! 😂

      It is an always learning experience, do not feel bad. I know that struggle because I have gone through the same process and everything matters. Especially for fingertip grip. Because it impacts your fingers and the angle. Which is probably why people say it is such a difficult form? But I agree. Hang in there and take note of how you are sitting and things you can work on. It will all come together, time, patience, and diligence!

      @@Dazs Thanks Dazs. I actually took a bit of a break at some point from fps games because of the frustration but I've been pushing myself to get my muscle memory back and just trying different things so that I can notice the differences and which I prefer. I think I'm making progress and I'm trying to push a slightly higher sens than I would normally use but using my fingers a lot more. I noticed that when I went low sens (like what I used to use, around 1-1.2 @800 dpi on Apex) and my shoulder ached for 2 days so it's fair to say that's not for me. I guess I just pushed through it before 😂 Either way I've never been terrible with my aim, I just know I can do much more

      CYNIC 98 if you want a “default” position, get some way to mark specific positions on your mouse.

I have an issue where my middle finger or finger at mouse 2 will accidentally pressed the right click/mouse 2 when flicking. Do i need to change my mouse or grip style? Because i used the grip for soo long. hard to change. Im so tilted with removing silencer or scoping in front of enemy accidentally.

    What would be the best grip for bigger hands? Anything with palm isnt really an option because my palm is bigger than both my mice

    So where does a fingertip grip anchor? If claw anchors at the wrist and palm is the forearm, then what about the fingertip?

  • @nickaguado7

    Fingers relaxed with even finger pressure, tight wrist and tight arm is the best way for me. If I don't pre tense my wrist and arm I can't flick for shit

    How do you feel about the 1-3-1 grip with three fingers on top? Index on M1, Middle on Scroll Wheel for Bhopping, and Ring on M2. This allows you to Bhop/walljump/etc without losing access to ADS or Shoot

    • @Dazs
      @Dazs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used to utilize this grip, but it made my middle finger tense up and feel uncomfortable. It was still a fingertip grip style, I now do thumb on left - index and middle on 1 - ring on right mouse - and pinky on left.

    So I think I have been using fingertip or maybe claw(probably fingertip still) and I thought I am using palm
    I still can't figure it out but I think you gotta have 85%of your palm on the mouse and just keep a fraction of it on the mousepad or something like that,right?

    My hands are too big (21 x 11cm) to palm or claw the Logitech G pro Wireless. I cannot fingertip it either, because that style isn't comofortable for me when I play RTS for hours. So I end up palm gripping it, but the majority of my palm is touching my mousepad. I feel like this grip style really fucks up my vertical aim and when my hands get a little bit sweaty also my horizontal aim. Too bad that there is not a single viable wireless mouse for big hands on the market.
