Looks like your drill bit was a wood drill bit. That's likely why it was grabbing so much. Metal bits have smaller grooves.
Try grease on the drill bit and goggles next time. Shaving will collect in the grease and less likely to go into the oil pan. Helpful video but gave it a thumbs down for no safety glasses.
