    I've heard a fan theory that the reason Marvel is killing off all their villains is because Thanos is going to ask Hela (Godess of Death from Thor 3) to bring them all back to create Thanos' version of the Dark Avengers. Maybe he'll even bring back heroes like Yondu but turn them evil. It's just a theory but I think that would be awesome

    As for Jackson Pollock, I used to watch PBS all the time in the 80s and Jackson Pollock and his paintings actually came up a few times on a program that tried to explain why his paintings were so remarkable. It's the same channel that showed documentaries on Picasso and showed the Joy of Painting with Bob Ross, so Pollock is not unusual.

    1. Ego is my new favorite villain. I had hoped to see more of him in his planet form, but that one image was really, really good.
    2. I had a mild case of whiplash when it went from the incredibly sad ending to the goofy initial post-credits scene and fun music.
    3. I thought it outdid the first film in every way. Not to say that the first one was bad.
    4. I hope we get a Mantis spinoff, or at least a supporting role in the rumored Rocket/Groot spinoff film. Part of this movie actually felt like a Rocket/Groot buddy movie.
    5. Finally, I thought it was the most visually stunning Marvel movie. It just looked so, so beautiful.

    I'll have you know that I was really rocking out when "The Chain" came back in the climax. However, I was a little disappointed that it wasn't the remix in the trailers with the low-sounding drums and heavy-hitting strings. And I was LARGELY disappointed that the music didn't stick around long enough for "CHAAAAAAAAAAAIN, keep us together".

    I will say this when Tower of Terror announced its closing and turning into Guardians I was confused about that idea. Then I saw the first film during a time when I truly needed it and then I became a little more open to the new idea. I found out about how the ride would function and I was on board. I saw footage of the Rocket animatronic and I got very pumped! I rode it to 'I Want You Back' and I love it for what it is! So Jerk because of that, you've earned my trust and respect after that! Thank You!

    Coming back to this vlog because of a certain Guest's Choice on a certain podcast, and boy has a lot changed in 6 years. James Gunn got fired then rehired from Vol 3 which just released in 2023 because of numerous Suicide Squad and Covid-related delays, Gunn is now tasked to reboot DC's cinematic universe after how good of a Suicide Squad movie he made and the Snyderbros are LEVID, Joss Whedon left Batgirl but not before trying and failing to salvage Justice League and he's now looked down upon in cinema/nerd cultures (also Batgirl is likely never gonna release while Zaslav is still in charge), Marvel has kept more directors to do their sequels like Jon Watts, Edgar Wrong (aka Peyton Reed), Taika Waititi, and Ryan Coogler, Zach's THANOS theory was incorrect unless H stands for Hydra or Hill (though y'all were right in that Thanos has armies of "children"), and Michael Rooker dies again in a James Gunn movie only this time his character actually deserved it (Savant in The Suicide Squad).

    It didn't occur to me until I saw this in my subscription box that it would make sense for there to be a One Movie Later on this, because I'm slow. I saw this on Free Comicbook Day and I too liked it more than the first because the first still had the trappings of being a Marvel move (generic villain, tie ins to other movies, oddly places quips), but this one ditched that for the better and I appreciate that, I also liked the character focus of it. My friend I saw it with however thought that the movie was kind of pointless as nothing major really happened. Anyway, keep up the good work.

    My theory regarding The Soul Stone: We see it first in Thor, being wielded by Hela. In Black Panther, it will be revealed that it crash landed in Wakanda w/ their vibranium deposits. The stone gave the Black Panther line the ability to speak w/ their ancestors, though it makes its way back to space since Hela will have it. That or she finds it on Earth and then uses it to crush Thor's hammer, Mjolnir.

    Great review of a great and fun movie. Oh to correct a misconception regarding the Guardians and "Super Powers". They all have powers of sorts. Drax is nearly indestructible, hence Drax the Destroyer. Gamora is cyberbetically and biologically enhanced to be the ultimate assassin. Enhanced speed, strength, reflexes and durability. Rocket has near perfect situational and tactical awareness and was biologically and cyberneticalky created or modified to be such. Star Lord is a tech gadget user.

  • @RCDznr616
    @RCDznr616 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tony, the issue with Breakout is that Disney had an insufficient park and fixed it, thematically, over the course of 13 years. For 2014 (the opening of the Grizzly Peak Recreational area at Soarin') through 2016 (Closure of Tower of Terror) the park had elements that visually tied together. Looking from Soarin' you had 1930's northern California, Buena Vista street was 1930's Southern California and then the Hollywood Tower Hotel in the distance that was 1940's California. The visual intrusion of the tower was not an issue because it didn't break the area. Now Breakout does. It sticks out like a sore thumb that you can see from everywhere in DCA, breaking theme, and it does the same when you can see it from Disneyland.

    • @TonyGoldmark
      @TonyGoldmark  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it looks retro-futurist enough that it still feels era-appropriate. As Haley pointed out, it looks kinda like "Space Egypt," possibly in reference to Old Hollywood's Metropolis-era aesthetic of making sci-fi look Egyptian. Can you even see it from inside Disneyland Park? I know you can see it from the esplanade, and it's WAY more enticing than just an old hotel (hell, if you weren't familiar with the resort and you were standing in the esplanade, you might've easily confused the TOT for just some hotel on Harbor Blvd. You look at Mission Breakout, on the other hand, and you KNOW it's a ride). And it's hardly the first Disneyland landmark to "break theme" - what in God's name is a German castle and a Swiss mountain doing in 1900s Missouri?

    • @RCDznr616
      @RCDznr616 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for replying, Tony. I really love your videos about the parks! They're really fun and done with such a charming cadence. You clearly put a lot of effort into your ideas and it really pays off. Now, I've gotta hand it to ya there. I have cited the Matterhorn and the Castle before in similar arguments. You can see Breakout from the Floral Mickey. It's not much, but it's something. I'll tell ya, it DOES garner a lot of attention, but that was an old way of creating theme parks where attractions could be seen from other areas as to be visual magnets to draw guests towards the attractions. But this kind of care has been taken with attractions for years. the tiki bulls on top of the Tiki Room are the only part of the tiki room that can be seen from areas in Frontierland and they themed those so they wouldn't be an unthemed visual intrusion. Breakout, while showy and fun, (and honestly as a ride I"m looking forward to seeing what they did with the tower) it breaks from the modern standards of making cohesive themed environments. I mean to follow the proper planning and thematic consistency of Diagon Alley in Orlando and Carsland in DCA. To take something that breaks this hard work and effort throughout so much of DCA seems short sighted aesthetically.

    • @TonyGoldmark
      @TonyGoldmark  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To me, Floral Mickey is more of an extension of the esplanade than the park itself. You don't REALLY enter the park until you walk through one of the tunnels. And again, I think Mission Breakout still looks retro-futurist enough to fit thematically. But, we'll see.

    • @RCDznr616
      @RCDznr616 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed to an extent about Floral Mickey. If the rumored Marvel land ever gets done behind Breakout, then thematically it will be attached to an entire Marvel experience rather than a one-off Marvel ride. I also find it really funny that Disney isn't allowed to say "Marvel" in any promotional advertising for the attraction or the "summer of heroes". Those poor guests who will be searching DCA for Batman.
