    Hi Lance, I farm in Lancashire, NW England. Until 2 weeks ago there's no way on earth I'd have taken the lift cover off our TED20 tractor. After watching your videos, my son and I have removed and stripped the cover, in our workshop, and are replacing some parts and cleaning up the old ones to be put back. Thanks for making these easy to follow videos, keep 'em coming.

    Thank you so much for the great videos on the Ferguson hydraulics. I got my 9N running after 5 years. It's turning the brush hog but no longer lifting. Thanks to you I'll give it a go on the cover and probably the pump.
    Stumbled across your other odd old engine rebuilds and they're great too.
    Thank you from the Ozarks USA

Keep up the good work , your videos meant that I could bring my tractor back to life , first rally was at Cupar , Scotland 12th June this year ….. Amazing fun ! Ted

    Hi again Lance, you took the words out of my mouth when you used the wood chisel to open the locking tabs 😂 Once again another great video. One can see why these old tractors are well worth the effort to give them another life. All solid meaty metal parts and very little alloy stand the test of time, makes you think of how well things were made yesteryear with all manual machinery, non of the cnc ones people use nowadays, probably why most newer stuff is made from alloy, most cnc machines wouldn't last long enough to make half a dozen using proper metal 😆 thanks for sharing, cheers Derek

      Thanks Derek, No I'm sure we wont be able to even buy the plastic for some of the new machines when they are 70 years old let alone get a wiring harness

    Another brilliant one, Bundy Bear. Thank you for demystifying the innards of my TEA20. Mine is a '52 so I imagine it's very similar to your '48...Plus you've answered the two questions I had: a) how does the oil get from the pump down below to the piston up above...? and b) why do my hydraulics leak down over a few hours when the engine is off....? Thanks again.

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. The oil comes up the r/h side of the housing in a drilling, the piston rings have gaps in them for fitting them so they must leak down it is how they are made, the more wear on the rings the faster it will leak.

    Good evening Lance , I found your videos very helpful when I restored my 1950 TED20 a couple of years ago . On for your advice tonight as I had some trouble as I picked up a cultivator tonight from a nearby sale . I think it was because I turned off the pto when the cultivator was in a raised position . Oil came spurting out from the top cover joint just bye my right leg ( as I was sitting on the tractor ) the cultivator then dropped to the ground . The pump seems to be working okay , as the oil was spurting out . Just looking for you advice as to what I should be looking to repair when I take off the top cover ? Many thanks , Ted

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like the gasket between the gearbox housing and the lift cover has blown. That is how the oil gets to the top.

    Can you change the draw spring yoke with out removing the top cover and do you remove the oil pump first .thanks rick

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can change the yoke with the top cover on if it is not rusted in. You can remove the pump and leave the top on and have the top off with the pump still in. Just undo the control valve on the pump first so you dont damage it.

    G'day Lance, gee you crack me up, (more ass than Jessy the elephant ). Good one, you know watching you like I have since you have been on TH-cam mucking around with these lovely tractors is starting me thinking to restore a little Fergey myself. Thanks mate John. G day John, How are you going, coming along alright? Yeah I might even get my coat out or take it at least, hopefully if it is cool at least it will be sunny for us, I hate cold rainy days, especially if I don't have a shed to go to lol. The little Fergies are a cheap tractor to do up they are fun and very light to cart around to shows etc. I think that is part of the reason for their popularity.

    Hi Lance. You have inspired me to have a go at doing my hydraulics on a TEF that I recently bought but when I have taken the lift cover off, there is no bottom end to the yoke. Do you know anywhere I can buy one?

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  ปีที่แล้ว

      Some valves come with the yoke on it but check it is not in the bottom somewhere.

    • @ezeehitch
      @ezeehitch ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BundyBearsShed I have checked and there is definitely nothing in the bottom and I have searched all over the internet for one but can't find anything. I know this is a big ask but is it possible for you to send a couple of pictures with important measurements on it. I am going to try and get one made. Thanks

    Greetings, i have a 1948 to20 s/n 369. was my grandfathers. Lift doesn't work. i noticed a plug on the upper lift cover where from the circular exploration hole you can feel a tube going up into the cover from the pump to the lift. i know some say to take the lift cover off and run the tractor to see if oil is coming out that tube. if so, the pump is good. if not, pump might be bad. anyway, i took the little plug out without taking off the lift cover and with the pto engaged, no fluid comes out. do i assume the pump is bad? i have fluid to the bottom of the inspection hole and there is some turbulence when the pto is engaged. Is this a good test? Also, do i have to take the lift assy off if i am just rebuilding the pump? Or is it best practice to take both out as long as i am tearing things apart? Thank you, Lance from Wisconsin, USA.

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can drop out the pump on the early ones but you still need to remove the pto. I would check if the control valve is working eg: moving back and forth from looking in the side covers.

      @@BundyBearsShed Hi there, so i got the pump out and will be getting it cleaned up and a new kit. the control valve does not go in and out with the quadrant lever, it would just flex up and down.

    Hello Lance, I have a Massey Ferguson 20C industrial tractor with the Perkins 3 cylinder diesel in it. Made in the late 70's. How similar is that to the TE20 series tractor you work on? I'm having lift cover / hydraulic lift issues with mine.

    Hi Lance, just to clarify a little. Do you have both a TEA20 and a TEF20 tractor you are working on? In the beginning of this video you mention a TEA20, but the diesel-pump you were working on eralier, must be of a TEF, not a TEA tractor?
    Best regards

    Can anyone tell me please, the lift / lower lever has broken, can I undo the 4 retaining bolts as per this video, and slide it out without taking the whole lid off ? At the moment I have a ring spanner which does the job, but looks rubbish..any info will be appreciated.

    Hi Lance, hope your keeping well, great video. Quick question, there is play on one of the lift arms on my Fergie 35 and it's leaking a bit of oil. Is it just the bushing and can I replace it without removing the lift cover and a full disassembly?

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe so, Pull the arm and the bushes are often quite loose and there is often room for an extra o ring.
