Making metal glow is great fun! If you want to do it the cold & boring way, put the knuckle end in a small container of acetone with a splash of eucalyptus oil, come back in half an hour and tap the pin out with the soft end of a feather. The rust-destroying power of acetone is UNBELIEVABLE. But I exaggerate a bit: use the hard end of the feather.
I thought the press would be too slow and heat seems to do the trick. If I were to do a lot of these I would make up a good jig but for one or two per year I can chase it around the bench lol.
There is for sure, I often look at my videos and see things differently afterwards, I think I might make a bracket to hold these better instead of chasing it around the bench. Thanks for watching and commenting.
G day Bill, If I were to do a lot of these I would make up a good jig but for one or two per year I can chase it around the bench lol. May do that for next time anyway.
Nice job, always more than one way to get it done.

All these Fergie vids..... Caught myself looking at my TEA y'day & thinking about the auto-lifting arms that need fixing.
Don't be shy, Go and sit on it for a while
Gravity is not your friend, as it seems ... ;-)
I always drop something, lol, I have too much going on most times. Everyone else cuts the drops out, I leave mine there.
Air hammer / hydrolic press ?

More than one way to skin an onion. The trick is knowing when to stop. ;)
