    I'm over here in the States and have a to20 myself. Your videos are incredibly helpful for me! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Parts for these tractors are still somehow dirt cheap and they are everywhere in my area.
    You are helping keep mine working great.

    Great value Lance! I've never been near a tractor and probably never will but your insights and practical experience make 'common sense' a real handy tool to pull out of the box when jobs start to get a bit complex. Applies to all walks of life, not just in the workshops. Keep on keeping on.

    For anyone interested, there is a 1 1/8" quick connect yoke available from Sparex, part# S.3430 that fits straight on to an original Ferguson PTO.

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and in Australia Bareco has one as well.

  • @warankind
    @warankind 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    When I rebuilt my TED I bought the PTO shaft you are talking about with 1 3/8" stud. Very disappointing crap though. After working less than 10 hours with the tractor oil came out of the shaft seal. I have a new sparex seal here but no idea if I can change it as it looks different than the original one.

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We get a good run from both Bareco and Sparex pto upgrade shafts. You will need to buy the seal for the upgrade shaft not the original one. Look for grass that has been spun into the seal.

    • @warankind
      @warankind 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BundyBearsShed I finally made it. It worked completely the other way. The snap ring is sitting on the shaft and not inside of the housing. And after removing the snap ring you have to pull the whole shaft through the bearing sitting inside of the housing. Finding parts in Germany is maybe not as easy as in Australia. The seal I got is from sparex and it has the leather lip and as well the rubber lip with the spring behind. Looks like a modern version of the old seal with the leather only. Same principle as you find at the front where the crankshaft goes through the timing cover.

    Hi Lance, your videos are great, thanks. Got a problem with a new PTO shaft I bought. It goes all the way in to the old TEA20 diff housing but stops short off 5mm. I am told I should grind some excess off in either the PTO collar or the tractor diff housing. I am not sure how to do this or if its going to damage the parts. Any ideas? thanks

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      G Day Ed, Sit the two shafts next to each other and make sure the shafts are the same. The things to look for are the length of the inner spline is the same length as the old etc. I was told of one that wasnt machined quite right so worth a good look with verniers etc.

  • @daveleclair9201

    I just changed my seal but found a small hole in housing to release that nasty sure clip. I pushed in the hole with an awl and it pushed the clip enough to get under it with a screw driver. Did not damage it .

    I have enjoyed watching your videos. I have watched you remove the PTO shaft on the TE20 tractor and it looks easy. Mine is only pulling out about three quarters of an inch and I can't get it any farther. I have engaged and unengaged the PTO, put the tractor in neutral, made sure there is no hydraulic pressure on it and it will still move only the three quarters of an inch freely. I was considering using a slide hammer to try to remove it but didn't want to damage the pump. Any suggestions, Thanks

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your shaft will be twisted in front of the pump, I have had to split reactors or work through the top to get some off. It comes from not using a slip clutch.

    • @erbigler6669
      @erbigler6669 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your previous response. Is there a way to change the seal without removing the shaft, because that would resolve the issue I have.

  • @JoeInBendigo
    @JoeInBendigo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks for the video! Nice to see it done.
    Just to be picky: hitting a bearing (transferring the hammer shock through the balls) is not a good idea. You will have brinnelled the balls and races (made slight indentations into them). That's where they will start wearing now. The proper way is to support the shaft by the outer bearing ring to fit the housing. A suitable larger pipe standing vertically on the ground is the better way to fit the housing.
    Next time, eh?

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah fair comment Joe, There is very little force though, if I did it in a press I would do that but the main tension here is the seal as they are very tight and the bearing is almost a sliding fit.

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some times they twist over time and it is a real problem but usually you can get them to move a little. I have had to split tractors and cut the shaft at times.

  • @anthonyspeirs1152
    @anthonyspeirs1152 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Lance, watched your video and thought I'd give it a crack. The PTO housing separated easily and slides freely however it will not come out further than about 1 inch. I have pushed it back in and pulled out gently, rapidly many times with no luck. I tried with a pry bar but have been cautious not to go to hard, still no luck.
    I have a 1953 grey Fergie
    Any thoughts or suggestions?

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      G Day Anthony, It sounds like your "PTO shaft has been twisted in side and will not pull out through the pump. Sometimes you will need to split the tractor to get them apart.

      Will using a pry bar cause damage. As I say I havent lent on it very had, Yet. I will probably need to split it any way as it appears I have other oil leaks as well (split pin just forward of gear box sump plug and drain in bell housing). Given I am new to these machines can you give me an idea where the oil may be coming from and hopfully a video link to show spitting this tractor and necessary repairs.

      @@BundyBearsShed Ok thanks. It's just that because the end is bigger ( 1" 3/8 ) than the shaft ( 1" 1/8 ) I don't see how I can get it off that end? Surely it has to slide off the front?
