Commons are supposed to be cheap! After all, they're...common, right? Well, that's true on the whole, but some commons are pretty hard to find! In this video, I break down the commons that will set you back the biggest chunk of change, and explain why they cost what they do.

Speaking of Thunder Junction, consider 'Most Expensive Outlaws".
A most wanted list?
:)
@@Jaxomh The bounty board.
none of them are especially expensive though; even retroactively.
Dockside is a bit pricy and is an outlaw@@Beaudunk
@@hiimemily that’s pretty good too
:)
I misheard Rite of Flame as "Rite at Home" and immediately thought of all the Open the Omenpaths in my box of bulk.
hearing you speak about the "play as many of me as you want" cards makes me dread that WOTC will some day put that line on a mythic
or a mythic in a bonus sheet
Are there enough of those to do a top 10?
@@kanrakucheeseEach one of the top 10 is just another copy of the same card.
Seriously, though, even if you include non infinite amounts live Seven Dwarves or that LotR card you can have 9 of whose name I can’t remember, I think we’re still a card or three short.
Edit: We’d have 8. 6 can be infinite, We can have 9 copies of Nazgûl, and 7 Seven Dwarves.
Even the uncommon Nazgûl that allows you to have 9 in your deck caused a whole conspiracy theory that Nazgûl were a lot rarer to open than uncommon in packs lol
Blue has a lot of good answers already, so Hydroblast, while good, is also competing with so many cards in Blue that do a more broad counter. Red has Pyroblast see little competition for its slot in a deck, so it's very much in a league of its own
There's something about finding that one common that's always in your life somehow in whatever format you play.
I am liking the slight new formatting you have in these videos over the last few weeks.
It's the same formatting.
@@TheSpiritombsableyeI assume they’re talking about the card flipping over. That’s new.
The promised time of release returns!
I love your videos for their quality. I "hate" them for reminding how much I should have NOT sold my original collection. 2010 was a bad year for Magic. Now, all these old cards I used to have work amazing with Commander, a format barely around when I quit back then. These cards used to be your standard 50 cent, maybe a dollar commons. Now, BOOM.
That was a wonderful year
@@TheSpiritombsableye lol
Curiously enough for me, I used to play around Tempest up until Planeshift, only getting back into it in 2010 BECAUSE of EDH. I wanted to play something casual, but... oh boy, things are way different in 2024.
@@nickfifteen Yes they are. I'm a casual player and commanders are everywhere and they are stubborn, very single minded players. I'll play against a commander deck, let's just throw down. But no one plays casual anymore bc people aren't creative and they love staying in their limited formats. They let precons do all the work for them and just mix a couple different cards around. The field is DULLL but a lot of that is also Hasbro and people buying too much BS.
Dragon's Approach has 10/10 art.
Thank you for reverting back to the old upload time!
I have really enjoyed this series so far, and I can't wait to see what you do next!
8:00 Given all the new desert cards, they should make a similar card like Wasteland Nomads that is a one-mana 2/2.
I'd kill for a card (real or Acorn'd) that has something like Urza'swalk, Lairwalk or Gatewalk 😂
There’s still most expensive multi-color and colorless commons. Manamorphose comes to mind as a fairly expensive Red+Green common because it's an excellent pairing with Storm, "When you cast an Instant or Sorcery", cost reducers (making it mana positive but card neutral), or just wanting a smaller deck, and it has been upshifted in the few reprints it got.
Pyroblast also sees more play than its counterpart because Blue doesn’t need a super limited counterspell since it has loads of good ones that work on anything. Worth noting that Pyroblast isn’t strictly better than REB because Flagbearer effects like Standard Bearer (which shut down Pyroblast but not REB) and those aren't super rare in Pauper.
Also a reminder to everyone that Three Kingdoms being expensive is primarily an English problem. Japanese prints should be way cheaper, even after proxy shipping.
I like the little intro you added to the start of the video.
Yeah, been trying old cold opens instead of starting with the animations. Glad you like it!
With Pyroblast, it's not just that blue is more commonly played, it's that blue has other options. Even if red was 40% of the meta there would still probably be fewer Hydroblasts than Force of Wills.
I love the new opening! 💕 I think it would be a great format for your videos moving forward. But I love all your videos to be clear! 😅
Flaring Pain also sees play in RDW deck in Pre-modern to get around cards like circle of protection red.
Ah, waking up to a top 10, this is the good stuff
Flaring pain is mostly a counter for the heavily played prismatic strands which can make winning impossible at times. Fogs aren’t the biggest problem generally
I would love to see a top ten ritual list both price wise and competitive, even if it needs to be an update one.
Another banger video from my king nizzahon
time for bed! Comment for the algorithm gods! Keep up the great work
Oi! I'm trying *not* to think about that
12:20 Another very niche use for Pyroblast (or Hydroblast) is that it can target and kill Phantasmal Image no matter what it’s copying (assuming no Hexproof or Shroud). 😂
Also, I just realized that Image copying something with Ward doesn’t do anything. 😂
Hope you do multicolour and artifact commons next!
"one of the best decks in pauper" yeah it's true and i love to ear it, but prismatic strands is more the real reasons since turbo fog matchup is more about weather the storm
I love these videos.
Pyroblast does still need a target. That target just doesn't have to be blue like it does with REB.
Guessing Gorilla Shaman for #1
The other day i placed in mkm a flaring pain that i had since i was a kid. But is so much damaged that had to place for only 1 euro :_(
Flaring Pain is all about busting COP Red my dude
Oh cool back to Nizzahon reminding me when it’s time for bed
mana geyser was a common???
This time for uploading definitely is what I prefer. Anyway, I don't care for red. It's just not my favourite colour. I don't even think these cards would see play in "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)", but still, glad for the list.
Lobsters don't like red because they only turn red when they're very unfortunate.
can you do a solid for your european viewers and also include a cardmarket price in thse videos?
This video is sponsored by Card Kingdom. The card market is a competitor of Card Kingdom.
Not really noone in europe would ever use card kingdom @@matthewutech5970
Is Red Commons the least expensive Top Ten Expensive list?
This series has made me want to collect the zodiac cards.
The different intro threw me off.
